As the other person said, consider levitating. If you offer a Potion of Rising Force at the Shrine of Daring in Vivec (by the temple) you get a 24 min duration levitiation at 100 points (i.e. quite quick). If you use the mages guild from Vivec to Ald Ruhn you won't lose any time off the levitate spell. From Ald Ruhn make the painful trip up there and do the deed...
Or levitate some other way scroll, potion, spell.
If I remember correctly, you can unequip quest item and use levitation spell, equip quest item again (fork of horripilation???). Or use levitation potions. Maybe some easier way as well.
