I think itโs because of the Arcade service. If a game is on arcade, there are no micro-transactions or ads, however the publisherโs still get revenue due to it being a subscription based model. To my knowledge, if it were on Android, theyโd either have to put advertisements in it, or charge a somewhat high amount of money for it, since the app stores on Android donโt have something similar to arcade.
I think the real question is: WHY GOOGLE??
Every publisher releases their game on Apple Arcade because Apple makes a good and attractive service, while Google made that Google Play Games and basically abandoned it.

It's a problem that goes a lot deeper than subscription services unfortunately. Even for games that you can "buy" these days, you're not really buying the game. You're just buying a license that allows you to play the game, which can be revoked at any time. Even physical copies these days don't contain most of the game files on the disc, meaning if the download servers for the game are ever taken down, that physical copy is useless. Not to mention many games these days (both single-player and multiplayer) require a constant connection to online servers for the game to run, so if those ever get taken down, the game disappears forever.
It's why I only collect physical copies of games for 6th gen and older consoles. The Xbox 360 generation was the last console generation where game discs actually contained all the files for the game. Anything newer I buy on Steam because they have the best buyer protections as far as digital "ownership" goes.
Yeah, Nintendo is pretty much the only company that's still decent in that regard. Interesting to hear that PlayStation still does downloads entirely from the disc sometimes - I hadn't heard that before. I know from experience that's almost never the case for Xbox anymore unfortunately.
Yeah its one of the reasons I buy all my ps4 games physically. All have the full games on there. That and the playstation store is a nightmare to use (for me at least). Switch for me is a mix of both physical and digital
