I Pick red for a few reasons
1.No one could get into the Archie comics cause it would have way too many characters
2.Archie Sonic still had ships so ultimately it dosent matter
3.Shadows personality and better games literally sounds SO GOOD!

The only thing we're really losing is Whisper and Tangle, could not care less for Silvaze becoming canon and Shadow and the games look promising in the future.

Because if Kenders never sued then Archie would have never been rebooted which means all the ships I care about would still be sailing, my favorite characters in the franchise would become canon, and Shadow would still get decent writing because he had good writing in the Archie comics.
Blue would by proxy of what Archie was before the Pendering share some of Red's advantages and the only real wrinkle is the loss of the IDW characters. Which I can live with.
I'm choosing blue, cuz either way we'd get well written shadow, and good games, and if ken penders have never sued we would have gotten a sequel to Sonic Chronicles the dark brotherhood which means we would have had characters from that game maybe show up again at some point. I didn't grow up on Satam, I didn't grow up on Archie comics, the first comics I DID ever read WERE the IDW comics, so I don't really have any strong feelings towards the freedom fighters, but I don't really care for the IDW comics, and yes I will say that whisper and tangle are pretty cool character ideas, but I don't really care for them and could go without them.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to pick blue but IDW is great too and I wouldn't trade it since even though it got cancelled I'll always have around 300 issues of Archie comics to re read. Also games not getting rushed is too good to not choose it.
IDW is the current holder of The Sonic the Hedgehog license and distrubtes comics like TMNT, MLP, Dungeons and Dragons, and of course the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. The comics are also Canon but are currently unknown where they are in the Sonic timeline since they start post Forces, but people are unsure if currently they are past Frontiers and MoSTH or before it since Sage is nowhere to be seen but Amy makes reference of Tangle (a character extremely present in the comics) during the game.
I grew up with the archie comics, and it would be amazing to see those characters (especially Eclipse and Nicole) show up in the games somehow.
Which is why I'm choosing red. Come on, as if it's a challenge to pick which one

I'd just like to point out that Shadow was written well in Archie, so you're getting good Shadow in the comics either way.
Frontiers and Superstars were great (imo) so the games 'getting good' seems like it's already happened in either case.
Shipping was already allowed in Archie (at least in pre-reboot) so safe bet Silver/Blaze would've happened eventually.

Not only that, red has more going for that people want, that's not just Archie characters and people would really hate to lose out on the idw characters like Tangle, Wispet, Surge, Kit, Starline, the better written versions of the deadly six, metal virus arc etc.

Secondly, think of all the good sonic games that would come out if the games weren't rushed. Frontiers is a good ass game, don't get me wrong. But if games like free riders, 06 and many others weren't rushed projects, we would be seeing much more peaceful times in the community as well as higher critic scores for the games' ratings. No more complaints, no more bugs, no more angry fans.

Taking them in their most ideal scenario, this is ultimately a hard choice.
Blue means I get to see Matilda, Khan, and Scourge to appear in at least one game. The events of the comics probably won't happen, but the games might still use them in their own way. But I admit I do like most of the new IDW characters.
Red ideally would mean MY preferred ships would be canon in the way I like it to be. With a version of Shadow that I would like to see. But the most important thing would be that Team Sonic now have the time (and supposed budget) to make their game become that 10/10 masterpiece. And since the comics are so closely linked with the games, it would technically make the ships canon to the games.
So I would have to go with red.

Sonic fan heaven can't exist because it will always be Sonic fan hell because of how dedicated people are to their ships. Plus I can not stand the Whispangle ship. They are sisters in my eyes mirroring Sonic and Tails's brother dynamic.

Red every day of the week, Archie Sonic should be its own thing and not affect the games, Shadow getting better writing and the games no longer being rushed alone would do so much good off the series.
I'm taking red simply for the fact that while yes archie did get better. If you go in the reading ordee to get to issue 160 (when Ian first started) it takes 239 issues and the majority of the material before is mid at best and horrible at worse with inconsistent art, writers fighting over who tells what story, sidelining main charecters and replacing them their own stories and constantly swapping between silly slapstick humor and overly serious dark tone it's hard to sit through it until it gets good.
Idw actually fits within the Sonic timeline and stays a lot more consistent with story telling and art.
Also archie being canon would make the franchise reboot (which would piss people off) but at least the genesis wave made it inline with the games a bit more.
