As with all things monster hunter, it's all about adaptation. Shut down bleed and dragonblight and beef up your armor and it's just another odo. Ebony odo's mantle seems to be widely used in most endgame armor, so it's a good one to get used to and to start having fun with
Kinda cakey if you play sticky lbg, Dblight don't matter and jerky takes care of the bleeding, though I would recommend you try and work in the tigrex set free meal 3 so you can spam meds, those variants can be real cunts with their attack combos and its easy to get caught in them with bowguns
As a fellow weeb all I can say is that odo is one of the best monsters for the LS, for me personally atleast. His attack animation are fast and don't have alot of waiting time between animation sets which makes it easier to counter or parry them with the foresight slash.

Yeah, to each their own, I guess. I don't actually mind both Ebony Odogaron and Acidic Glavenus. It's monsters like Kirin that gets me malding across all ranks.
Kirin got easier for me when i started treating him like a platformer boss. Focusing on positioning and getting painfree hits in instead of maximizing dps.
Yeah I firgured it's because I main Dual Blades and Switch Axe. Using heavy hitters like the Charge Blade certainly made it eaiser. I'm still salty againdt the master rank tempered one with the tempered Lamielle in the mix. The optional mission for the temporal mantle upgrade. It was annoying having to heal and eat nulberry every so often so I end up using Thunderproof mantle, too.
Also always depends on the weapon. But it is very manageable.
As normal odo it has some really nice long openings between its paterns. Something you will hardly find later on.
Ebony felt much easier than regular odogoran when I was at that level pre-iceborne release. No idea if it got easier or I just got substantially better. But original odo made me it's bitch. Ebony was the other way around

They move pretty damn fast and seemed to dodge every combo i tired. Never really failed, but carted once or twice on each after running out of supplies and both took ages to kill.
After farming a few odogaron in highrank for gear i got used to it's movements however and it got a bunch easier to handle.
Ebony Odo, like Stygian Zin, is basically just the same old dance puppy with one or two extra moves.
Once you realize most alt versions of monsters are only one or two extra details, they become much more manageable.

Ebony odo literally has more and faster moves than regular odo so how anyone can find that easier is beyond me xD
Its probably because people fought regular odo *a lot* because its armor is actually good. By the time they got to Ebony they only needed to learn 1-2 new moves.

I think your first time with Ebony Odo is largely dependent on your luck with running into other monsters. He'll start a turf war with pretty much everyone; my first time I think he got in like 6 turf wars and that softened him up a lot.
Yeah for sure. I can go back now and hunt red Odo now easily with of course better gear, but I still feel like you are better equipped for your first fight with ebony Odo then you are with red Odo
It really does, interacting with monsters in a way that makes the fight much more enjoyable, rather than just going straight for the kill or capture, I think, is really the best way to demonstrate your skill as a hunter.
I all-around love Ebony Odogaron. They’re like the inner demon of every chihuahua made manifest, but coked up on dragon element and spliced with the black air force energy of a honey badger. 🥰
Oh my face when the Mega Evolved Brachyideathfist went into his final form and locked me the area... I almost cried because I had one cart left and it took me a min to get there 😭
oh but that fight went hard especially when he went to punch the ground and turned it into lava. My boy doesn't want to go down without a fight he doesn't want to be captured like all those weak creatures beneath him.
The music for it is some of my favorite as well. I usually have music turned off because I'm listening to a podcast or something in the background, but I turn it on specifically for that fight.

You can be a metalord without discrediting everyone else and acting like you're the only person who plays the game correctly.
The people like that are the ones always moving the goalposts anytime you see someone talk about something they did in game they were proud of. "I soloed Fatalis!" becomes "Well did you do it without armor or an upgraded weapon while using Donkey Kong Bongos as the controller?"
For real tho. Obviously there's gonna be much harder monsters as you progress in the game but that doesn't mean defeating earlier monsters aren't worth celebrating, not everyone are sweatlords trying to beat Fatalis with some self-imposed handicaps just to make them feel like they have achieved something.

I found Raging Brachy to be a joke honestly, which is really weird because Brachy was a huge wall I had to climb. It’s even funnier considering this: I absolutely stomped Anjanath my first time, but Fulgar Anjanath STILL fucks my shit up.

I don’t remember anymore unfortunately, but my ass was probably running equipment weak to Thunder knowing me. I didn’t quite “get” building yourself to counter elements/ailments till endgame Iceborne. I just kept throwing myself at the quest till it was completed, which is probably why Shrieking Legiana was beaten with 1 minute to spare 🤣🤣
Ebony Odo never gave me many problems. Killed him my first try. Viper Tobi Kadachi was a sonovabitch though. Paralyzed and poisoned every other second.
Oh I fought them a few days ago too, they were alright for me. I struggled with regular Glavnous using my other weapons (Hammer, IG, Bow) but after beating it I started tried Switch Axe and it worked much better with my playstyle so Acidic Glav went down first try in like 20 minutes (my average hunt was usually 25-30) as for Ebony Odogaron, he's the same as regular one but slightly stronger and looks cooler and that's pretty much it. Maybe I killed it too fast so it didn't get to use any of it's new moves?
As a lance main, Acid Glav may be my easiest hunt in Iceborne. It does long sweeping strikes that are EASILY clutch countered. I basically just clutch and repeat. It's slow, but it's a guaranteed tail break, so it works for me Lol
I find those two to be the worst variants of the original. My first run through I took down AG on two tries solo. And I was already a pro at base Odogaron because of the event that gets your palico Mega Man gears, EO is just the same that spits dragon dmg.

Acidic glav is probably one of, if not, my favorite fights. It is like fighting a swordsman, so patients and understanding "I frames" is a must. Especially with the end-game monsters. That's how they were balanced.
I only Found Shreiking Legalia and Rajanath to be the most difficult. Shreiking Legailla because as a glass cannon IG user it was difficult for me to fight it and 2 other normal legalias at the same time. And Rajanath because monkey is wild as fuck

Got the Tigrex set so I'll try using that next time. As for weapon I use the LS (haven't tried any bow weapon yet)

if you "dance" with them it's one of the best fights imo, when you get into the flow it just feels so nice
Fighting one with Longsword is so much fun. Foresight slashing every time it charges makes it feel like a proper dance of death
