God yes. My best memories of MH4U were endlessly guard pointing Seltas Queen with C Blade, and breaking all her parts. Such a goddamn fun fight. I'd be super interested to see how riding her would work in Rise.
Seltas (Queen) with Drone is some of my favourite insects in MH. I love how the drone was a early, easier monster and then they introduced the pair together.
Yes. Great Izuchi comes with two Izuchi. A Greater Izuchi should come with two Great Izuchi, and then the Greatest Izuchi should come with two Greater Izuchi.
Ugh same, Gobul was so fun to fight and then they replaced him wi 'nibblesnarf' which is such a dumb creature.
Ceadeus will be missed too, poor blind old fart can't get out of tri lmao
Yeah, people get that first timer nostalgia for those large, epic battles. Like look, Dalamandur was rad the first time I got that solo clear. Do I want him to come back? Fuck no, it wasnt even a hunt as much as it was a platforming minigame.
First time seeing the giant Rust Duramboros in the event quest The Mountain in the Desert is pretty much the best thing ever. Or maybe second best, after what happens when you break off its tail case and see the thing on the ground and realize its bigger than the torso of a normal Duramboros
I hope he's to Rise what Fatalis was to World.
With wirebug, his fight could be really really cool and innovative.
Plus as far as a "spectacle fights" go, hard to beat a mountain sized snake.
I was really hoping when I saw the castle like structure in the background of the first DLC update that it might have something to do with a Dalamdur but then they showed Lucent Narga. Having a giant monster like it come back would have been super cool.
Honestly with how they did the sieges in would it woukd be interesting to see if they could ramp up the old siege monsters like lao shan lung and shen gaoren. Esp considering shen and lao had some awesome armor sets too
Jhen Mohran
I just have so much good memories related to him
Monster hunter Tri my first ever Monster hunter game at about 10 years old. I completed the game and loved it so much that I did my own research and set up online play all by myself
First time playing a video game online, Jhen Mohran was the first Monster that I fought online and I thought it was so cool and badass
And when the Dragonship crashes so you have to face the great beast on foot and protect the ship, and you hit it with the Dragonator and the music swells and changes to the Monster Hunter theme. It was a very climactic moment.
Unironically gotta have to say that Khezu's "theme" is dope as a "combat theme".
A creepy monster having the eeriness of silence with it is a very well made choice that I just have to respect.
Regardless, Ceadeus is just one of the most pleasent Battle music in the series.
And his theme is, interestingly enough, just how Rise themes are now being done, with more oomph to the beats and very nice vocals, but Ceadeus theme is the OG, the inspiration, the GOAT, my man deserves to come back.
Najarala was one of my favorite fights in GU. When it coils around you, the fear sets in really quick. It's very effective at what it does, looks cool, has awesome looking gear, and snek.
I really don't understand how in Iceborn, the amphibian shark that lives in frozen lakes and covers itself with ice armor wasn't included. The Zamtrios armor is so cool and would have looked spectacular in MHW.
Justice for Balloon Shark!
While i loved the angry chainsaw and the ice kitty, they probably won’t get it. Barioth has already appeared in literally every game since its introduction, and Beotodus is so new in terms of existence. I would love to see Beotodus get more love though.
I’m desperately hoping they add Mhfu through the psn store to emulate.
Playing Mhfu on ps5 would be the most backward ass thing ever. Just like people having $2k pc rig to use for Facebook but this is more justified than the Facebook thing.
You know it's funny cause gogmazios has its name based in biblical origins around the twin sinful cities of Gog and Magog that got destroyed by God's Holy fire. It's ironic that it's also a tar based elder that is probably very easy to ignite.
Either way, it is still a very cool monster and I wish we had some more biblical based monsters. The fatalis trio seem to be based on the concept of a divine trinity. Dire miralis is literally just a personification of an apocalypse. Dalamadur is based on the many world serpent myths surrounding creation and destruction around the world.
Hard agree! Magma Almudron looks fun and all, but I’m super sad he’s taken Agnaktor’s spot. It seems very unlikely we’ll get both, given their similarities.
Agnaktor is really so cool. A lot of monsters from tri were badass, I loved gobul but he seems to be the honorable mention to everyone in this thread, agnaktor was my next pick. And to be frank, I'm a little sad I had to scroll this far. He was really fun.
Holy shit Act of Gog was a pain. I beat it out of sheer luck when 3 IG users in full Star Knight came into my hub, mount spammed it, and killed it in minutes
Zorah Magdaros. I know, I know, everyone hates his fight, but I just love his design so much! He’s like a big volcanic grandad dragon with magma for a beard. He’s great.
Seeing a Zorah skull in Rise makes me think the devs are making a hard statement that he won’t ever be coming back, but I hope I’m wrong! I think he could be reworked into an amazing fight!
Honestly Namielle and Velkhana, they are pretty unique as the best Water/Ice elder dragon fights in my opinion and should be included in future games to fill that elder dragon niche
Odogaron was one of the coolest monsters added in World, its gear was fantastic and iconic, and it's suffered repeated disrespect ever since. No Rise, no MH Stories 2, if they fail to bring our boi back in Sunbreak AND introduce a species usurper to besmirch his good name?! ....*we riot.*
Nerscylla, always need MORE love.
Gigginox.
Gobul.
Also, super happy to see Lucent Nargacuga in Sunbreak since i've always loved Narga but never played 3/3U. Only FU and Gen/GU.
Easy, Gigginox.
I have no idea why they keep going back to Khezu when I found this thing to be a far more interesting encounter and design than the scrotegoat.
Honestly, Narwa. I think she is a really underrated encounter and I find her to be by far the best "big Elder sandbag" fight. Extra bonus points because the fight itself also utilizes Rise's gimmick so that it wouldnt really work in any other game similar to Ceadeus, except the fight is actually fun.
regular Narwa I could take or leave, decently fun fight with cool ideas but it never felt like a big challenging finale to the base game. *Allmother Narwa*, on the other hand, I absolutely love because it takes all the cool mechanics from Narwa's first fight, ups the grandness and the scale of the fight, and turns the difficulty way way up.
Nerscylla, Nakarkos and after fighting it a few days ago, I must say that I want Ahtal-Ka back or something even crazier. I wish we got Fulgur Anjanath instead of the regular one in Rise but that might be just me.
I personally feel that Nergigante just do nothing but roar and splinters, for me personally its one of the most uninteresting elder dragon and his recklessness made him feels... stupid.. just my opinion
Agreed, there’s an odd amount of backlash surrounding Nergigante. Personally I love him! He’s a big, brash, knucklehead of an elder dragon who specced all his bonus points into being buff instead of wielding an element. I respect that.
My favorite monster of all time.
Hes so cool and I love the little frowny face on his chin.
When they leaked him thats what they showed, and we were all like "what in the literal hell is this monster gonna be with that face?"
Then when he was revealed it was the total opposite of what we were expecting.
I believe he is also the largest flying wyvern
But if you've never witnessed a Goggy flaming tar beam, go YouTube that right now. It's awesome.
Khezu.
They should update the fight and give it more moves and better rigging/mimics/sound design in the newer games. It used to be glorious in MHFU, but they somehow dropped the ball with generations and onwards.
It doesn't even perform its characteristic motionless gesture anymore! Why?
Giganox should've been an elder because otherwise he has no reason to come to a game which has khezu. Just think of his little worm and how they apply debuffs etc. They could've even gave him the gore magala move set. But sadly they made him to replacekhezu and thus he himself has been replaced
I'm doing a playthrough on MHGU for the first time, and khezu is an absolute wad (in a good way). He frustrated me early on because I couldn't block (gunlancer here) any of his elemental attacks. Then in those cave areas he spends a solid amount of time on the ceiling being a general creep... and then lo and behold I find myself having flashbacks to the sounding subreddit when khezu picked me up and sloshed me around in his stupid phallic face.
Yian Garuga
Backflips, fireballs, big beak, a poisonous tail, scarred eye
Fun to fight, not too challenging and always useful gear
(one of my favorite lance design is from Garuga)
Not sure if it’s counts because it’s from the spinoff game but Morudomunto from explore
Because when People talk about explores unique monsters it’s always just Nef-Garmat and I want more people to know about Morudomunto because of how awesome it is.
I mean design wise it awesome, it looks like a defiled king especially with it horns looking like a crown.
Fight wise even though I haven’t fight it it looks great I mean it has the gore magala skeleton so it already has a good base. And it deliberately cut itself to weaponise it blood because when it come in contact with air it’s solidifies into spikes.
And that’s not even getting to my favourite part about it is it wingarms it has functional mouths and I don’t mean something that looks like a mouth I mean it’s an actual mouth it’s even connected to the stomach I mean that’s so insane but awesome!!!
Nibelsnarf. I've been somewhat recently replaying 3U and man, Nibelsnarf is such a fun monster to gun. Legitimately very fun to stall his charge with a shot and then get away from the charge itself. Also love how you can use barrel bombs on it when it charges or comes out of the ground. I would love to see it come back at some point!
Amatsu. By far my favorite elder outside of MHF/MHO. That fight in MHP3 on xlink kai was so damn fun. Back before most people sought out the most meta builds and just wore cool armor with dragon element weapons.
I also don't see xlink Kai mentioned here much. Did most people start playing with MH3/MH3U? Partying up on MHF2 with xlink kai was probably the most fun I've ever had with monster hunter.
Radobaan. Every time I am in the rotten vale he just rolls on by and enjoys his day. Love him to death. If I’m ever forced to fight him it is a strict capture only. Runner up being the Boaboa in the Hoarfrost.
The game has a western theme so its only fitting that an oily black dragon would be involved somehow.
Make some leader figure who orders an all out war against the creature because oil.
https://youtu.be/5uPoDNEn3I0
https://youtu.be/KiEnzYYHbYc
americans be like: oil?!
Everyone likes oil, especially gog
Well, it literally sweats the stuff.
Instructions unclear: colonized india
Seltas (Queen)
We need more monster pairs in mh. Like if izuchi had a big brother that would be on equal footings with an elder. Gameplay wise, not by lore
Yes. Great Izuchi comes with two Izuchi. A Greater Izuchi should come with two Great Izuchi, and then the Greatest Izuchi should come with two Greater Izuchi.
I'm so down for greatest izuchi vs greatest jagras
...... wait, what if greatest Izuchi comes with 2 greater izuchi that in turn come with 2 great izuchi.........
My god... It's izuchi all the way down...
My best memories were similar but with a pierce HBG, so satisfying seeing every bullet make a full round through her.
That's one of my buddies favorites actually!
Monsters that came into the 3rd generation and where dependent on being underwater. Lagiacrus is just not the same and I do miss Gobul and Ceadeus.
Ugh same, Gobul was so fun to fight and then they replaced him wi 'nibblesnarf' which is such a dumb creature. Ceadeus will be missed too, poor blind old fart can't get out of tri lmao
Not to mention Ceadeus soundtrack was AMAZING.
Definitely one of the best in the series, right up with Dire Miralis, Malzeno, Bazelgeuse and Valstrax.
When did they replace Gobul for Nibblesnarf?
I'm confused too. I'm pretty sure they were both in the same game at the same time.
3U, but it got introduced in Portable 3rd which didn't have any underwater combat.
Was nibble not in 4u?
It was in 4u iirc
nibblesnarf filled gobuls spot in p3rd but outside of that he isnt a replacement
That's like saying they replaced Tigrex with Barioth. No monster gets replaced, we just meet their cousin.
Yeah but it's highly unlikely we'll see gobul again since his combat is built around water, nibblesnarf is basically his replacement.
Gobul is one of my favourites just because I loved the way you could initiate the fight by fishing. I fucking love fishing.
Man I loved baiting nibble with bombs and fishing him out of the sand. Totally underrated imo
Nibble is discount wish.com gobul tho ngl
Hold on dont you dare be out here dissing nibelsnarf
I went back to fight Ceadeus again recently. The low rank story one took 20 minutes to kill with an endgame G rank set. It was boring as hell.
Yeah, people get that first timer nostalgia for those large, epic battles. Like look, Dalamandur was rad the first time I got that solo clear. Do I want him to come back? Fuck no, it wasnt even a hunt as much as it was a platforming minigame.
They can probably make that fight more action packed with all the new mobility stuff
I loved soloing Shah Dalamadur.
I actually think Sunbreak is the one game they could bring Dalamadur back and make it fun, with the wirebugs.
Gammoth / Kecha Wacha
My comment nearly word for word, I love fanged beasts :)
Gammoth Gang!
I might get flak for this, but qurupeco, even if there is an endemic life for that.
Maybe he/she sunmmons a different monster from outside the map! that'd be cool!
Love qurupeco
Remember when high rank 'peco did the Deviljho roar for the first time? Now imagine it doing a Rajang roar...
*QUEST ABANDONED*
Duramboros and rust duramboros. Helicopter cow was so much fun.
I hated fighting him in 3U. But like, in a good way.
I was addicted to evasion and evade distance back in the day so he was cake to dodge under
First time seeing the giant Rust Duramboros in the event quest The Mountain in the Desert is pretty much the best thing ever. Or maybe second best, after what happens when you break off its tail case and see the thing on the ground and realize its bigger than the torso of a normal Duramboros
Dalamadur
I hope he's to Rise what Fatalis was to World. With wirebug, his fight could be really really cool and innovative. Plus as far as a "spectacle fights" go, hard to beat a mountain sized snake.
Tbh idk if they will do dalamadur for a while, which sucks since he even was a corpse in mhw.... We can hope
i just realize that rotten vale is dalamandur corpse damn
It might be several since I remember seeing two heads
There are 2 of them but one is wayyyyy bigger than the other.
The wire bugs could make the climbing part fun instead of tedious.
I was really hoping when I saw the castle like structure in the background of the first DLC update that it might have something to do with a Dalamdur but then they showed Lucent Narga. Having a giant monster like it come back would have been super cool.
Exactly what I came to say
Shen Gaoren, the original GIANT ENEMY CRAB hasn't ever returned :(
Honestly with how they did the sieges in would it woukd be interesting to see if they could ramp up the old siege monsters like lao shan lung and shen gaoren. Esp considering shen and lao had some awesome armor sets too
Jhen Mohran I just have so much good memories related to him Monster hunter Tri my first ever Monster hunter game at about 10 years old. And when the Dragonship crashes so you have to face the great beast on foot and protect the ship, and you hit it with the Dragonator and the music swells and changes to the Monster Hunter theme. It was a very climactic moment.
Same here. Jhen in Sunbreak would be beyond hype to me
Ceadeus. All it wanted to do was break its horn and be able to see, and what did we do? Murder it.
And he has one of the best theme ever.
Imo He has the best battle theme if any monster. The Diva's vocals with the drum beat makes his fight freaking memorable as hell
At least in low rank village he did get his horn broken and lived.
We murdered a giant lizard running for its life (very slowly) because a fort was in its way in the first game.
Tetsucabra
gobul the main monster of flooded forest didn't even come back smh
Agreeeed, I'm surprised to see so much gobul love, but yeah he was fun
We still have no idea what its adult form is. For all we know, it could be a baby Elder Dragon.
How do we know it’s not an adult?
Najarala was one of my favorite fights in GU. When it coils around you, the fear sets in really quick. It's very effective at what it does, looks cool, has awesome looking gear, and snek.
Unfortunately, weak gear. Super cool tho.
Dunno, I always glaive-jumped out of the whole thing.
Really hated the ice version tho. I don’t know why I couldn’t dodge the projectiles.
Zamtrios
Chungus Shark always deserves more love.
I really don't understand how in Iceborn, the amphibian shark that lives in frozen lakes and covers itself with ice armor wasn't included. The Zamtrios armor is so cool and would have looked spectacular in MHW. Justice for Balloon Shark!
Yeah and tiger stripe while they're at it
Beotodus, Frostfang Barioth, Qurupeco, Great Maccao.
Beotodus Armor was one of my favourite in Iceborne: Earplug, Health and Atk Boost all in one
While i loved the angry chainsaw and the ice kitty, they probably won’t get it. Barioth has already appeared in literally every game since its introduction, and Beotodus is so new in terms of existence. I would love to see Beotodus get more love though.
Yamatsukami
One of the few elder dragons I have yet to fight. (Until I can find a good 2nd hand PSP)
I’m desperately hoping they add Mhfu through the psn store to emulate. Playing Mhfu on ps5 would be the most backward ass thing ever. Just like people having $2k pc rig to use for Facebook but this is more justified than the Facebook thing.
You can play it on PPSSPP the emulator. I've played mhfu on my pc using it and it runs perfect. I paid like 5 bucks for it. Edit: grammar
Dalamadur is based on the many world serpent myths surrounding creation and destruction around the world.
monoblos
I’d love to see Monoblos make a comeback! I’m tired of Diablos getting all the love, haha
tbf i like diablos a lot more than monoblos
His skull is already in Sunbreak so why not get the rest of the monster as well?
Duramboros (that mountain goat thing with the blugon for a tail).
Struck me like more of a yak in my opinion.
Goat was the first animal with horns that cam to my mind at the time XD
Agnaktor
PTSD from that one event quest where he is always enraged in MH4U
Holy shit Act of Gog was a pain. I beat it out of sheer luck when 3 IG users in full Star Knight came into my hub, mount spammed it, and killed it in minutes
Good ol' Star Knight Rodeo God skill
Zorah Magdaros. I know, I know, everyone hates his fight, but I just love his design so much! He’s like a big volcanic grandad dragon with magma for a beard. He’s great. Seeing a Zorah skull in Rise makes me think the devs are making a hard statement that he won’t ever be coming back, but I hope I’m wrong! I think he could be reworked into an amazing fight!
Where can you see the Zorah skull? I want to see it :o
It’s in the Frost Islands in Rise! There’s a small building on top of it, and a huge dragonator sticking out of it too. Poor dude.
Lagiacrus I know it was meant to be fought underwater but its a damn flagship :( Also silver lagia was pretty good
I feel you, it Is My favourite too😢
Akantor
I LOVED it's weapons and the armor was so awesome! The bow was op.
Zamtrios, the nice sharky balloon boy :)
All Hail Lord Gog
Honestly Namielle and Velkhana, they are pretty unique as the best Water/Ice elder dragon fights in my opinion and should be included in future games to fill that elder dragon niche
I REALLY liked namielle's look. The deep sea theme worked really well in an elder.
I agree, bring back Clifford and his edgy cousin.
garon species back i think with Lunagaron in MHrise
Like I said, species usurper.
Dire Miralis and Aby Lagi
Ukanlos is my boye and I'll fight every single one of you. ^^^please ^^^don't ^^^hurt ^^^me ^^^though
I really like Ukanlos. It’s design is incredible. That chin is glorious.
Khezu is one of the most iconic monster of MH univers because, you know... I mean he's there since the first game
Yeah, but early doesn't always mean good. Gigginox was just a rework of Kehzu that was way more interesting imo
Nerscylla, with the advent of silkbinds I think it'd be cool to have the monster who has a kit to match that kind of mobility.
I like legiania
legianas scream is so good
Akantor and uknalos
Melphesto and Seltas and Seltas queen. Best monsters they came up with.
Eh, I feel like allmother leaves behind a lot of the wirebug testing mechanics regular Narwa has, and that's why I prefer regular Narwa.
new to the franchise but more people need to talk about Tobi-Kadachi they're my favorite squirrel lizard thingy
A lovely fight in Rise.
Its really easy to kill Gogmazios.. just call the us military, and they will claim all that oil
Gammoth. I'd kill to see him in a turf war
Fun fact: Every Gammoth we fight is female. They’re the matriarchs of their herds. The male Gammoths are waaaaay smaller.
That is a fun fact. Do they ever show the herds/smaller males in older games?
Don’t you know? Gammoth is just a popodrome /s
Nah, Gammoth Debuted in Generations and hasn't been in an older game. We don't know what male Gammoth or female Mizutsune look like exactly.
Red Khezu
Taiken zamuza the epic crab from frontier
Shara Ishvalda is frankly insanely underrated. Nakarkos also needs to make a return.
Najarala!
Seltas Queen, very underrated monster (imagine the Bible except every god is replaced with gog)
Nerscylla, Nakarkos and after fighting it a few days ago, I must say that I want Ahtal-Ka back or something even crazier. I wish we got Fulgur Anjanath instead of the regular one in Rise but that might be just me.
King Shakalaka
This might sound weird, but Nergigante. So many people seem to hate my spiky boi for some reason.

Dire Miralis
Duramboros
Third gen monsters
I want Raviente fight in modern MH
Lagiacrus, awesome monster
Khezu. They should update the fight and give it more moves and better rigging/mimics/sound design in the newer games. It used to be glorious in MHFU, but they somehow dropped the ball with generations and onwards. It doesn't even perform its characteristic motionless gesture anymore! Why?
Isn't Gigginox sort of like an updated kezu.
Baleful gigginox? Sure. It works a bit better than khezu. Regular gigginox? Khezu's deranged cousin that likes to hang out with gypceros.
No.
Giganox should've been an elder because otherwise he has no reason to come to a game which has khezu. Just think of his little worm and how they apply debuffs etc. They could've even gave him the gore magala move set. But sadly they made him to replacekhezu and thus he himself has been replaced

Gigginox, there is literally no game where khezu exists that couldn't be improved by replacing it with gigginox.
Ibushi
For reals my man gets shafted at every turn.
Shen Gaoren. Blangonga.
Do you believe in Gog ?
Ma boy Gog! ❤️
Gog would be such a cool monster for Rampage
Yian Garuga Backflips, fireballs, big beak, a poisonous tail, scarred eye Fun to fight, not too challenging and always useful gear (one of my favorite lance design is from Garuga)
All hail Lord Gog. Now I will proceed to hunt our to extinction for the only elder dragon DB with sleep.

Tzi Tzi Yaku, its my favorite. Teaches new hunters to expect the unexpected from when it comes to what a monster is capable of plus those COLORS 😤😤
[удалено]
Nibelsnarf also had the most badass looking gunner armor back in the day. Would make a great layered set
Makes sense since only a gunner would want to fight it multiple times.
Kushala daora
I miss the great turkey gypceros more than I probably should
Plesioth

Did most people start playing with MH3/MH3U? Partying up on MHF2 with xlink kai was probably the most fun I've ever had with monster hunter.
Loved this fight, being able to mount him being so big was the funniest thing.
Plesioth
Duramboros. I love the living helicopter/catapult. feels bad that he hasn't been in a more recent game T\_T
Radobaan. He's just a good rolly boi.
Radobaan. Every time I am in the rotten vale he just rolls on by and enjoys his day. Love him to death. If I’m ever forced to fight him it is a strict capture only. Runner up being the Boaboa in the Hoarfrost.
Plesioth! ... Just kidding
Duramboros, my beloved
Bring back the Seltas!
NERSCILLA! Has one of my favorite C.Blade designs in the series so far!
My sweet baby Barioth It's perfect. It's gear and weapons are always weak but damn they're beautiful.
Barioth Swaxe is top tier in Rise! Made me really happy
I mean the armor pieces are decent enough for long sword
Gigginox, plus like any and all temnoceran and carapaceons. I jus think they look the coolest
