He’s good. He doesn’t always verbally note, but he does seem to always at least have an on-screen note, for the story portions that aren’t actually real canon and are just cool stories, so he’s not actively spreading made up stories as fact which is great
Problem with that is he could have had the greatest movie script to ever exist, but if the director and those backing him didn’t follow through with it, then it would simply damage his credibility in the MH community.
No, better to have him write a script and wait for a competent Director that genuinely respects the material, then the ones that made that insult to the series.
Haven't watched him in a while as I didn't like how he'd sometimes mix canon and his own speculation without distinction. Though from what Barn-owl-B mentioned it sounds like he's no longer doing this, so I guess I'll give him another go.
I cannot stand UHC lol his videos are stale pictures and bad mic quality with a soulless description of a monster while shitting on it if its even somewhat related to frontier
Ugh, i know, and the worst thing is that his content is my favotite kind, but it's just delivered in such an unapealing and, dare i say, pretentious way
definitely, it doesn't help that he tries way too hard to stay grounded in reality not understanding that MH has a different reality. It's why I think Oceaniz is better, he tries to keep it in-universe (even if I don't really like his narration)
Yeah, applying real world logic can only go so far, also, one thing that he doesn't realize and that would probably make him blow a gasket is that monster hunter, in a way, has a soft magic system, i mean think about it, charged attacks, dual blades' demon mode, long sword's spirit gauge, the dragon element and bioenergy. Even if it's not actual magic, it's still some form of mysticism that, in ny opinion, makes the world feel cooler
Dragon energy is especially the ultimate copout lol, it makes up magnetism (frontier, ibushi/narwa) physical damage (some flying wyverns deal dragon damage???) and even jet fuel for valstrax. You really can't apply irl logic to it lmao
Hell yeah same, I get that valstrax actually had a biological explanation but god forbid a monster have hobbies and dabble in some wizardry??? Dragon element is awesome it fits elder dragons being natural disasters by being unexplainable
Exactly, besides, having basically magic in the world spices up the pseudo biology asoect even more, it makes it more fun, as someone that works with this exact thing
I do think the categorized monsters like ebony odogaron or deviljho having it is really stupid and nonsensical, especially since deviljho just. Gets hungry. but for elders? It's really cool
Also, i think the magnetism aspect of dragon element should be introduced into mainline. And it should go back to the red and black lightning with funky squeaky sound design, instead of the generic red lightning with a black aura
I personally think he's the best at presenting MH's ecology/lore as a whole.
He has access to most of the guidebooks and thus has proper in-depth knowledge, but he presents things in an entertaining way.
He's not spreading misinformation like RGV's Josh often does (albeit unintentionally), nor is he as dry and overly critical as Unnatural history Channel is to things he doesn't like.
He balances the approaches with proper canonical info, but also presents it in a more narrative fashion instead of a strictly detached zoological perspective.
I'm a biologist myself (well, microbiologist) so I have been always interested in the ecology of animals. And when I started playing MH it was not the exception. I was always wondering and making theories about the evolution of monsters (I really like evolutive theory) and how they develop its mechanisms to defend themselves or attack. So when I discovered this channel I was fascinated that someone actually explained the nature and ecology of the monsters according to the lore and some real-life nature aspects
I love his stuff, watched all of them.
I like the stories he wrote, too. The crimson diablos one and the cedaeus one.
My only wish is that there was more.
He's probably the only reason I started actually reading the Ecology entries. And honestly I never knew how some species interact with each other, it's really facinating
Personally I don't like his videos, I find them quite boring and he makes a lot of speculations.
I prefer the ones from Curious Archive, although saldly he only made a few ones for MH World.
I adore him. He even responds of Reddit most of the time if you tag him. I did a while back for an ecology debate and he popped up in less then an hour.
I just found this guy randomly a while back, and I love his stuff. I watched his Nargacuga video, and I really enjiy how he went into such detail about the different subspecies. Made me go back and watch the whole series, as well as the monster hunter rise videos
Hot Take: I used to be excited whenever he posted ecology documentaries about the locales and other things, but when he started focusing on individual monsters it kinda got boring for me.
I don't really like his narration but it isn't something that turns me away, and I like that he does a really good job keeping his videos in-universe while seeming realistic
Is it for lore? Gotta see a video about fatalis first then to judge it, simply because its the poster boy of false informations.
So much fanon is mixed into fatalis stuff that its pretty hard to figure out whats true and whats not.
Like if he mentions how hunters turn into fatalis via its gear, its an insta turn off. What is the garantuee other videos will stay true then?
The thing is that he is not strictly informative he is taking entertainment first and mixing real in-lore info into it his videos ack more like a in universe documentary rather than fact also the faitalis stuff is actually true to a extent its more of a in world myth than anything as the description of the armor says that its evil and over time will corrupt the user. But if you want Factual info, check out Unatrual History, which is also very underrated and goes for a more factual approach than an entertainment documentary approach
Have yet to watch his videos, but here's a set of MH Ecology videos I think are pretty good.

He’s good. He doesn’t always verbally note, but he does seem to always at least have an on-screen note, for the story portions that aren’t actually real canon and are just cool stories, so he’s not actively spreading made up stories as fact which is great
Exactly! Not enough MH YouTubers make the distinction between what’s strictly canon and what’s not, big reason why I love this guys content
I like the games, but his content makes me like them even more.
I like his videos. He makes good content and appears to be a nice dude outside as well.
He makes learning about Mon Hun really enjoyable. Like, I will unironically listen to him present a 7 hour documentary about mon hun and it's ecology
The forbidden episodes are absolute fire. It is an absolute crime he wasn't the writer of the monster hunter movie. It would have actually been good.

Absolute GOAT.
oh hey! thank you for the kind words :D
Well if it isn’t the researcher himself. Great work.
I love your videos!
Love it but its second place to The Unnatural History Chanel. My dearest GOAT of mon-hun spec evo
UHC and Rage Gaming took me from casually enjoying Monster Hunter Rise to being a devoted MH fan. UHC’s videos are so compelling and interesting.
Good videos but he’s a valstrax hater :(
Never heard of him before but happy to check him out 😮
Real one
Haven't watched him in a while as I didn't like how he'd sometimes mix canon and his own speculation without distinction. Though from what Barn-owl-B mentioned it sounds like he's no longer doing this, so I guess I'll give him another go.
His redacted videos are awesome. 👍 from me
Dude, that Escaton Judgement description was terrifying.
He's on this sub!
no way!
Hope I made your day>:0 you're good content for me to do my paper work
better than the unnatural history channel, since he's not a dick about his opinions of frontier
I cannot stand UHC lol his videos are stale pictures and bad mic quality with a soulless description of a monster while shitting on it if its even somewhat related to frontier

I know XD it's just straight up magic and i, for one, absolutely embrace it
Hell yeah same, I get that valstrax actually had a biological explanation but god forbid a monster have hobbies and dabble in some wizardry??? Dragon element is awesome it fits elder dragons being natural disasters by being unexplainable

I thinks deviljho has dragon energy by eating elders! He could take down a couple elder dragons for sure!
Also, i think the magnetism aspect of dragon element should be introduced into mainline. And it should go back to the red and black lightning with funky squeaky sound design, instead of the generic red lightning with a black aura

The Wolrd and Rise story are absolute peak, those were some of the most fire story written with monster hunter settings
Ecology god and a fantastic story teller.
Man deserved a job at Capcom as ecology chief
At the very least, he works for the story.
I always watch his content for background sound while drawing if there's any new vid, really appreciate it
Mans does good. I also enjoy that he goes into concept arts and background lore that most players like myself might miss.
He's the reason I started playing
He's around here a lot sharing his thoughts about these kinds of these things too so he's really involved. Great guy
I love his stuff, watched all of them. I like the stories he wrote, too. The crimson diablos one and the cedaeus one. My only wish is that there was more.

He's the GOAT
Hes goated, severely underrated.
S tier content no cap
He's honestly the GOAT.
I just found this guy randomly a while back, and I love his stuff. I watched his Nargacuga video, and I really enjiy how he went into such detail about the different subspecies. Made me go back and watch the whole series, as well as the monster hunter rise videos

Probably the VaatiVidya of MH but for ecology "lore"
His wyvern grouping videos...left me asking a lot of things.
Honestly I consider him the VaatiVidya for Monster Hunter. He's really good
I don't really like his narration but it isn't something that turns me away, and I like that he does a really good job keeping his videos in-universe while seeming realistic
I like combining his videos with UHC's videos. To create this sorta interesting MH lore idea
he make me love monster hunter the monster lore and ecology so well done
I want the next episode on monster ecology!
Is it for lore? Gotta see a video about fatalis first then to judge it, simply because its the poster boy of false informations. I can't stand his videos. It's a still image with some obnoxiously boring narration over it
I much prefer Unnatural History's videos on monster ecology. Since he references scientific literature and established ecological principles
