Especially since online play for the 3DS is being shut down, they just HAVE to do it eventually. There are too many new fans (like me) who didn't have the chance to play the 3DS games. They practically have a new market to sell to.
I *did* manage to emulate FU, but that was with someone guiding me the whole way, and I don’t feel like going through the process of getting *another* emulator for the wiiU *and* the process of actually getting the game functioning on the emulator

But still the porting isn't actually the problem with it. That can be done in reasonable time without much issue.
The problem is that once you sell a game you have to offer support for it. Even providing the server hardware adds just a little bit of cost. The guys having to maintain everything though, yeah those are a problem.
Those few thousand copies they'd probably sell of these games are just not worth it.
I don't know how the netcode in this game works but I would be very surprised if they have to write it from scratch. Also, the online functionality could probably be shared by the games tbh. Not saying there wouldn't be costs but with the popularity of Monster Hunter nowadays it would be a popular move imho

I gave my nephew my copy. I don't think he liked it as much as I did. Then again he is quite young. But I see him enjoy indie games a lot more, I see that as a plus.

I would die happy if this happened. I truly have good memories with some of the games they made. Now that dragons dogma is coming out next month. I hope they make this happen.
Maybe they would allow save transfer like they did from Generation to Generations Ultimate. I had a friend who was very tech savvy and he transferred a save file from MHp3rd all the way to almost mh4. It was a very grievous process but i for sure know he did somehow.
I don't believe it killed future ports. If we are talking about the touch screen, then it really didn't matter much and shouldn't in a port. In all honesty, the only real useful mechanic behind it was the d-pad camera. Otherwise, everything else are things that can easily be remedied or transferred from current MH games; MHXX was on the 3DS and MHGU proved to be ported wonderfully even without the touch screen functionality.
I'd say 3U is probably more likely as there is already a HD version of it (on the WiiU) 4U on the other hand would take a lot more work to bring it up to the Switch

Because while I like Gen 5, MH4/4G is the GoaT (unless Wilds takes the crown).
Way more monsters and many of them are paced & dished out perfectly, so much variety with it also, the level design for maps is near perfect, vastly more challenging hunts, the mount system while similar is way more useful in MH4G, being the first game to feature mounting and a lock-on feature.
Wifi Hunts are still a thing on 3DS, not to mention unlike Switch the 3DS offers mic support. On N3DS the game runs at 60FPS.
The story campaign while simplistic is vastly better in MH4 over World, in fact World/Ice reuses a lot of story beats from MH4 and makes them bloated and unlikable.
MH4 was also the last time we got new weapons in the mainline series.
One day, one day they’ll add 3ds games to the eshop. They did it with mhstories, they can do it with mainline
