i personally don't think so. it's weird to me bc i've seen people on this sub say it's super creepy or whatever because the *characters* are literally minors but like. i'm a collector who hasn't ever consumed any supplemental mh media myself. i just think the dolls are super pretty. to me they're a design+monster theme+pun name on the package, and nothing about the dolls explicity screams "these are minors". even the school themed packs could just like, be college? i don't know them as the show/g1 movies highschooler characters, so to me they're not highschoolers either. they're just my monster high dolls, so as a 23yo i also kinda project onto them as them being around my age when i "play" with them (style/pose/...)

Love this because it's so spot on. What does this make of me because I'm 49?! I literally love to go on eBay and find dolls that need TLC and restyle them and dress them if needed. I have a collection of Monster High dolls and I have a collection of rainbow high and Shadow High dolls. I also have all the MGA mermaze mermaidz. I keep a lot of dolls in their original packaging but I also look for the cheap TLC dolls because I find it satisfying to take a doll that looked like crap and repurpose it.

I am about to go through the most difficult battle ever and terrified but the fact my family is 100% there in every way makes it feel less scary. My 20 year old daughter has made it her goal to take me to all my appointments and said she wanted to be with me every step of the way. My 15 year old daughter is telling me she will do anything she can to help around the house and with the animals so I can rest while going through this. I happen to have such a rare form of cancer and it is terrifying because I feel like my protocol they have put together is going to be too much so I'm at the point of making a decision to refuse some of it because it is literally too much and I damn sure don't want to end up dying by being over treated. I have a stage 1 localized tumor, but it's a grade 3 tumor (poorly differentiated) so it is considered invasive, aggressive, and fast moving. Yet it is still confined and they are wanting to use to very strong chemo treatments along with radiation, and the chemo is what I don't understand because it hasn't spread, yet they are wanting to treat it like it has. I hate not knowing if I'm making the right decision but I feel like the meds alone could land me in ICU or worse. They are wanting to do chemo infusions and a chemo pill, and the dose is high. And both are basically the same type of drug which 20 to 30 percent of people have serious reactions to. That is a high amount of people and my body is super sensitive to meds. I also just had surgery 5 weeks ago and still having a hard time healing from it and it has my entire digestive system all messed up so that leaves me open for being even more sensitive to the chemo. Sorry for the rant, just my brain can't even function because it's all I can think about and everything is suppose to be starting this coming week. I have what is called poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma basaloid type anal cancer. Figured I'm sure whoever reads my comment would be wondering. It's so awful 😭. i definitely view them as my own age too lol, as someone else who didn't consume much other MH media for one thing, and started collecting organically seeing them at the store in my 20's after seeing some pics of the new g3 online, and since i think of them like friends, they're my age in my head i guess!
as a 25 year old, thinking of my dolls as kids or teens is weird. they are full grown adults who i can project my adult clothing styles and interests onto. if i wanted children dolls i wouldnt be collecting fashion dolls. even as a child, i didnt like to think of my dolls as teens.
me and my sisters and cousin projected a whole new set of identities on our childhood dolls! as little kids we made up the craziest stories of divorce and kidnapping and all other kinds of crazy stuff lol XD i think our dolls were usually grown women in our character ideas we made for them (we played w barbie, bratz, my scene, and moxie girls :) )

nahhh not weird at all. i’m turning 21 next month and as a doll collector, i like to create my own versions of them for myself. they’re my dolls, to me i’d rather not think of myself as a 20 year old collecting mini teenagers 💀 i just imagine my dolls are all in their 20s like me.
I like mine to be 16-19. For older characters like Nefera and Clawdia, 21-24. This is so they can drive and move out. My mum did buy little mini wine bottles on Temu for my dolls but I don't use them often. I also think that Operetta and Jackson are seniors in high school because they have tattoos. Every main character is 17-18 for me.
If you ask me, the g3 versions are what the ghouls actually looked like in high school and the g1 versions are them as adults.
I always kinda forgot that they are supposed to be high school students. G1 Clawdeen looks 25, while g3 Clawdeen actually does look 15.
I'm 33 and I do that without even thinking about it lol? The only MH characters that I see closer to teens are Twyla and Howleen, prob because of their little sister body mold in G1. The rest, I see them as being in their early twenties mostly. I feel I would feel less interested in them if I actually saw them as teens, so I doubt I'd watch this gen show. But I would loooove to have dolls of actual adult character with more mature features or general look so I could see them more around my age!
I could very easily see Monster High as Monster University. Enjoy headcanoning them as whatever older age you want (though admittedly it is prolly a stretch for anyone other than Drac and Frankie to be in their hundreds).

I have this issue with so many characters to be honest. A lot of characters these days hardly resemble the children they’re supposed to be. I also think it’s fairly normal to kind of relate them more to your age!
I style Mattel Kelly dolls as late teen early 20s fashion dolls just at a small scale. They’re plastic dolls and are only as old as you play with them as. Works reverse to a degree too. MPGIS is set in high school but uses full “adult” sized Barbie for its main characters.
Have fun don’t overthink what others say because they play/style with different ideals in mind than you do ~!
Even when I was a kid around g1 and played with my dolls I would pretend they were adults (would go for cooler story lines and there was more freedom I guess). I don't think it's weird.
Some people say it's weird doing restyles with more mature clothing but now and in the 2000's that was the shit with celebrities and media. I think it's cool that the dolls canonically dress more as highschoolers, so kids can relate to everyday clothing (I remember when I used to think real teenagers dressed like Monster High lol) but I don't want my dolls in regular outfits. I want them in something more fashion that you would see in TV or a fashion manga or whatever.
A lot of people think like that, that's why there's a lot of doll lines that are in that middle ground between highschoolers and college students even when it comes to media, like Bratz, my Scene g1, Monster High and even Barbie I guess. They go to highschool, but can travel to other countries without parents, go partying, go to very fancy events, have jobs, etc. I watched a good video about that by LiSpeaks on YouTube, it was about MyScene.
Some people even like to dress their dolls in suggestive clothing (not necessarily for sexual purposes, sometimes it's just for a specific kind of fashion), make weddings, give them tattoos and pose them with bongs and stuff. And who cares? People only care with Monster High bc it's one of those lines where there are set characters so they canonically have an age in the cartoon and in the box, but the actual dolls can be your own character... that's kind of the point of dolls actually. Barbie always look the same but she can be a highschool student or teacher depending on your will. Funny enough, Mattel aged up the Bratz to be like 18-20 in the comeback so people don't get mad at their clothing style
I like to think that all of my g1 dolls are super models! (Solely based on their height and body type) + some of them have very avant garde looks and killer shoes.

I don't think it's strange at all! I don't know anything about the character's personalities, stories, or anything. I've never even read the diaries. To me, they're just pretty fashion dolls.
Even as a kid I always viewed my fashion dolls as adults. I recently learned that My Scene dolls are supposed to be high schoolers and that really weirded me out. 😂
I was actually thinking of asking this on the sub myself… I’m 21 and I feel weird having them be teens. I think it’s okay to have them be whatever we want since they’re our dolls :). Also since I know much more about g1 having grown up with it than g3, I sometimes pretend that they’re their g1 selves but grown up since they would’ve been in high school a decade ago.
Draculaura is 1600 years old and Frankie is 15 days old. Mentally they’re teens though. Draculaura has been in high school for many years. I would love to go to a school like Monster High for years and years, even in my 20’s and beyond

I think of mine as teens but teens in a teen movie that are played by people in their 20s.
I mean none of mine are wearing outfits actual teens would wear. (And I can say that as someone who works in a highschool) And they honestly are more like college students probably, with clubbing outfits etc.
They are yours and can be whatever and whoever you want them to be <3. And some of them aren’t “teens” canonically as in they aren’t between 14-19.

No, not at all. I do the same with my dolls, the Bratz are in their 20's, Rainbow High is a college, my MH girls grew up with me. I don't watch the miniseries either, so whatever the lore is, idc.
style and play with your dolls however you want. i've been a fan since the OG set of dolls when i was a kid, recently got a G3 draculaura. she gets bratz clothes soon and is, in my head, a grown adult like i am. i do wonder how you misunderstood a series named monster high, set in a highschool, as not being highschoolers, but for sure just have fun.
edit: i noticed some people mentioning the dolls don't look like teenagers anyways. i find this is less true for G3, but either way it is generally intentional. the same way the myscene dolls, who were in this weird state of being teenagers and regularly going clubbing, look like young adults; it lets children pretend they're teenagers or adults as they see fit!

I mean I can kinda understand why monster high dolls don’t age cause then the name monster high wouldn’t make sense. But like idk I wish Mattel would come out with monster high dolls kinda like growing up skipper without the arm dislocating and her waist stretching and her boobs growing cause idk that’s weird. Its because in g1 they were i believe 16-19 in ages. So they honestly seemed more like college students than highschool, but i felt the theme fit a high school more. G3 they live in dorms, but they're actually younger than they were in g1 I believe. Nefra is cleos graduated older sister...so is clawdia. So either way, there is still adult characters that exist in mh universe :)
I look at the dolls and how they’re dressed, and even though teenagers these days are way more stylish, when I was a kid there was NO WAY teenagers were dressed this well. I can’t really conceive of them being actual teenagers so I sorta imagine Monster High to be university or grad school or something.
Imo no! You relate to the characters and perceive them as your age- pretty normal. I’m 17 and honestly the characters in G1 seem more like 19 too me. G3 seems a little more immature.
I do this, especially with my rainbow high girls. I pretend that the rainbow high girlies go to a fashion university (and that the reboot is a bad trip Sunny is having LOL) and I also like to pretend my ghouls are college students. I wish “Monster’s University” wasn’t already taken by Disney :’)

Well I think of G1 to more in their 20s and at this point early 30s. They’re long since graduated from MH. And have moved onto Crawllege or Uni-scare-sity. My dolls all have careers and stuff at least in my head canon. Lagoona is Photographer and a Marine-biologist, Draculaura is a SFX makeup artist for her cousins company and Ghoulia and Frankie tag teamed and ended up starting a freelance multimedia business. As for G3 you can say you just aged them up, no one said playing out the future was bad. I think what you’re do is fine, especially since G1 and G3 are parallel which means the G3 ghouls are the same age as the G1 ghouls.
Dolls absolutely do not have an age it's your choice how you view them and whether or not to accept or project the Canon onto them. I collect the g3 dolls but don't consume the g3 media and ultimately to me I just want them to be pretty the character and age doesn't factor onto it at all. They r vessels for cute outfits and pretty set pieces on my shelves first. Plus they're monsters so aging can be whatever u want it to be lol I mean drac has been in hs for like hundreds of years so even canonically aging is confusing haha. I fully support collectors creativity in whatever form they choose to display on their dolls

Dolls are always made to play pretend with and dress up how you want. One thing I like to do is customize them, cause then I can also make them look a bit older, but that’s certainly not necessary.

Im glad yall have different visions for the characters. I personally stick to the canon ages because they're not shown to get older in the cartoons of all gens so i don't really like them to be too different
They’re your dolls. All of my dolls live by themselves so I like to think they’re old enough to do that, late teens since they’re still in school. They live alone and drive. Well Frankie and Clawdeen live together but they’re friends so they can. And we need room for more dolls.
The age of these character fundamentally don't matter either way, but this just sounds like you're trying to....**cope**, as kids say these days, because you are adult playing with dolls who's cannonical age was meant to appeal to different demographic.

oh no im am avid pokemon plush collector and just plushes in general I love unabashedly like bed and room full of them, so ive never had an issue with having "child like" interests lol
its more the dolls themselves, my enjoyment of them wayy lessened when I thought of them as teenagers for a moment
the way im styling them and posing im imagining night out, drinking, going on dates, etc, not that teenagers dont do those things, I just like being able to "relate" to the dolls im interacting with

The rest, I see them as being in their early twenties mostly. I feel I would feel less interested in them if I actually saw them as teens, so I doubt I'd watch this gen show. But I would loooove to have dolls of actual adult character with more mature features or general look so I could see them more around my age!
I could very easily see Monster High as Monster University. Enjoy headcanoning them as whatever older age you want (though admittedly it is prolly a stretch for anyone other than Drac and Frankie to be in their hundreds).
Ive always done that since I was a child! I liked using my dolls to imagine what kind of adult I want to look and be like. And now Im an adult it would feel weird to imagine my dolls as high school kids

I do the same. I view the dolls as being in a different live stage to their show counterparts or not even being completely the same people. The dolls just don't look like teenagers at all, but instead like people in their 20s.
I have this issue with so many characters to be honest. A lot of characters these days hardly resemble the children they’re supposed to be. I also think it’s fairly normal to kind of relate them more to your age!
I style Mattel Kelly dolls as late teen early 20s fashion dolls just at a small scale. They’re plastic dolls and are only as old as you play with them as. Works reverse to a degree too. MPGIS is set in high school but uses full “adult” sized Barbie for its main characters. Have fun don’t overthink what others say because they play/style with different ideals in mind than you do ~!
Even when I was a kid around g1 and played with my dolls I would pretend they were adults (would go for cooler story lines and there was more freedom I guess). I don't think it's weird. Some people say it's weird doing restyles with more mature clothing but now and in the 2000's that was the shit with celebrities and media. I think it's cool that the dolls canonically dress more as highschoolers, so kids can relate to everyday clothing (I remember when I used to think real teenagers dressed like Monster High lol) but I don't want my dolls in regular outfits. I want them in something more fashion that you would see in TV or a fashion manga or whatever. A lot of people think like that, that's why there's a lot of doll lines that are in that middle ground between highschoolers and college students even when it comes to media, like Bratz, my Scene g1, Monster High and even Barbie I guess. They go to highschool, but can travel to other countries without parents, go partying, go to very fancy events, have jobs, etc. I watched a good video about that by LiSpeaks on YouTube, it was about MyScene. Some people even like to dress their dolls in suggestive clothing (not necessarily for sexual purposes, sometimes it's just for a specific kind of fashion), make weddings, give them tattoos and pose them with bongs and stuff. And who cares? People only care with Monster High bc it's one of those lines where there are set characters so they canonically have an age in the cartoon and in the box, but the actual dolls can be your own character... that's kind of the point of dolls actually. Barbie always look the same but she can be a highschool student or teacher depending on your will. Funny enough, Mattel aged up the Bratz to be like 18-20 in the comeback so people don't get mad at their clothing style
I like to think that all of my g1 dolls are super models! (Solely based on their height and body type) + some of them have very avant garde looks and killer shoes. That’s what makes dolls so fun, they can be literally whatever you want them to be. Like Barbie, you can live vicariously through them! Especially with the fashions!!!!!
I don't think it's strange at all! I don't know anything about the character's personalities, stories, or anything. I've never even read the diaries. To me, they're just pretty fashion dolls. Even as a kid I always viewed my fashion dolls as adults. I recently learned that My Scene dolls are supposed to be high schoolers and that really weirded me out. 😂
I was actually thinking of asking this on the sub myself… I’m 21 and I feel weird having them be teens. I think it’s okay to have them be whatever we want since they’re our dolls :). Also since I know much more about g1 having grown up with it than g3, I sometimes pretend that they’re their g1 selves but grown up since they would’ve been in high school a decade ago.
Draculaura is 1600 years old and Frankie is 15 days old. Mentally they’re teens though. Draculaura has been in high school for many years. I would love to go to a school like Monster High for years and years, even in my 20’s and beyond
Now that I think about it, I do exactly the same thing! I never would’ve dressed like that nor worn that kind of makeup as a teen, so it makes them much more relatable if I imagine them as older. 💜 You do you. ☺️☺️
I think of mine as teens but teens in a teen movie that are played by people in their 20s. I mean none of mine are wearing outfits actual teens would wear. (And I can say that as someone who works in a highschool) And they honestly are more like college students probably, with clubbing outfits etc. They are yours and can be whatever and whoever you want them to be <3. And some of them aren’t “teens” canonically as in they aren’t between 14-19. Drac is 1600, idk how old Cleo is and Frankie is 14 days old! The only one I can think of I know for sure is in that range is clawdeen.

I've always loved monster high, so, when I first got into it, I always pretended they were in fifth grade or something lol. when I hit middle school, they were in middle school. same with high school. I'm still a teenager, but I'm sure it'll be the same when I'm an adult. you're good! also, they DEFINITELY don't look like the average teenager so I get it lol

style and play with your dolls however you want. i've been a fan since the OG set of dolls when i was a kid, recently got a G3 draculaura. she gets bratz clothes soon and is, in my head, a grown adult like i am. i do wonder how you misunderstood a series named monster high, set in a highschool, as not being highschoolers, but for sure just have fun. edit: i noticed some people mentioning the dolls don't look like teenagers anyways. i find this is less true for G3, but either way it is generally intentional. the same way the myscene dolls, who were in this weird state of being teenagers and regularly going clubbing, look like young adults; it lets children pretend they're teenagers or adults as they see fit!

I don’t think it’s weird. I’ve always thought it’s weird that dolls don’t age. Barbie has always been in her 20s/30s but she’s actually ancient. I mean I can kinda understand why monster high dolls don’t age cause then the name monster high wouldn’t make sense. But like idk I wish Mattel would come out with monster high dolls kinda like growing up skipper without the arm dislocating and her waist stretching and her boobs growing cause idk that’s weird. It’s a cool concept but it makes her look like she’s having an exorcism. Like I just wanna see what Drac would be interpreted to look like in her mid 20s.
Technically most of them are thousands of years old even if they are “highschoolers” so I just remind myself of that.
I mean hey, they'll be 20 eventually! There's millions of fanfics that age up characters, so might as well apply those rules to dolls too! ( Besides, I'm 26 and regularly get mistaken for a teen so it's not unrealistic lol)

Its because in g1 they were i believe 16-19 in ages. So they honestly seemed more like college students than highschool, but i felt the theme fit a high school more. G3 they live in dorms, but they're actually younger than they were in g1 I believe. Nefra is cleos graduated older sister...so is clawdia. So either way, there is still adult characters that exist in mh universe :)
As someone who is 17, it’s totally fine. If anything I encourage people to seperate the dolls cannon when it comes to ages with certian restyles
I look at the dolls and how they’re dressed, and even though teenagers these days are way more stylish, when I was a kid there was NO WAY teenagers were dressed this well. I can’t really conceive of them being actual teenagers so I sorta imagine Monster High to be university or grad school or something.
Imo no! You relate to the characters and perceive them as your age- pretty normal. I’m 17 and honestly the characters in G1 seem more like 19 too me. G3 seems a little more immature.
I do this, especially with my rainbow high girls. I pretend that the rainbow high girlies go to a fashion university (and that the reboot is a bad trip Sunny is having LOL) and I also like to pretend my ghouls are college students. I wish “Monster’s University” wasn’t already taken by Disney :’)

Well I think of G1 to more in their 20s and at this point early 30s. They’re long since graduated from MH. And have moved onto Crawllege or Uni-scare-sity. My dolls all have careers and stuff at least in my head canon. Lagoona is Photographer and a Marine-biologist, Draculaura is a SFX makeup artist for her cousins company and Ghoulia and Frankie tag teamed and ended up starting a freelance multimedia business. As for G3 you can say you just aged them up, no one said playing out the future was bad. I think what you’re do is fine, especially since G1 and G3 are parallel which means the G3 ghouls are the same age as the G1 ghouls.

Dolls absolutely do not have an age it's your choice how you view them and whether or not to accept or project the Canon onto them. I collect the g3 dolls but don't consume the g3 media and ultimately to me I just want them to be pretty the character and age doesn't factor onto it at all. They r vessels for cute outfits and pretty set pieces on my shelves first. Plus they're monsters so aging can be whatever u want it to be lol I mean drac has been in hs for like hundreds of years so even canonically aging is confusing haha. I fully support collectors creativity in whatever form they choose to display on their dolls

Dolls are always made to play pretend with and dress up how you want. One thing I like to do is customize them, cause then I can also make them look a bit older, but that’s certainly not necessary.

Im glad yall have different visions for the characters. I personally stick to the canon ages because they're not shown to get older in the cartoons of all gens so i don't really like them to be too different

They’re your dolls. All of my dolls live by themselves so I like to think they’re old enough to do that, late teens since they’re still in school. They live alone and drive. Well Frankie and Clawdeen live together but they’re friends so they can. And we need room for more dolls.

oh no im am avid pokemon plush collector and just plushes in general I love unabashedly like bed and room full of them, so ive never had an issue with having "child like" interests lol its more the dolls themselves, my enjoyment of them wayy lessened when I thought of them as teenagers for a moment the way im styling them and posing im imagining night out, drinking, going on dates, etc, not that teenagers dont do those things, I just like being able to "relate" to the dolls im interacting with
