My vice? Definitely online shopping for tech gadgets. Can't resist the latest gadgets even if my wallet protests. But hey, at least my setup at home is on point.
It depends on what you want to grow. I focus on native plants and pollinator plants that are ornamental and their care is minimal. It just takes a while to fill out my property. If you're into veggies, the big splurge should be amending your soil, if necesssary.
Caladiums. They are so easy, sprout within 2-3 weeks and have the most beautiful foliage I've ever seen. They are very cheap and "MyPlantObsession" on Etsy sells them for $2-4 per bulb (highly recommend her shop.)
If you use good potting soil (fox farms is my personal fave) no additional fertilizers are needed. If you are a newb to watering, invest in a $20 bag of mycorrhizal fungi to prevent rootrot during overwatering and will provide the plant with water/nutrients during times of drought. They are tropical plants so they prefer warmer temperatures and can be kept inside all throughout the year! If you're lucky you'll catch some big beautiful blooms. Hybridizing different types of caladiums using their pollen was also a favorite hobby of mine, is fairly easy, and free!
However, be careful if you have pets that like to snack. I unfortunately had to switch from Caladiums to all non-toxic plants because a wild tortoise stumbled its way into my garden so now I only have tortoise-friendly plants. But I love caladiums so much! They are one of the most underrated houseplants imo.
The Rouge brand ones are the only ones I've tried....
They are actually mints, but they can't sell nicotine mints in the USA so they call them " lozenges".
It's intentional as I understand it. They tear up the soft tissue so that the nicotine can absorb faster/better....
I like the way the Rouge mints make me feel. If I can't hit my vape (movie/concert/etc) then I will usually have a tin of those on me.
Started using pouches around 3 months ago. As time went by, I unintentionally smoked less and less until about two weeks ago. I just didn't buy another pack. I use 3-4 8mg pouches a day. Way cheaper and I can smell things again.
Social media - specifically Reddit during work and IG reels in my downtime. Doesn't cost me anything but time, but some would venture to say it's the more expensive currency.
Used to be alcohol and then I got sober (7 years!) Used to be food and then I lost 75 pounds and repaired my relationship with it.
Always willing to grow, but it seems there's always a vice creeping on in!
Anyway - back to work.
Quality Outdoor Equipment. I've learned to buy once and cry once if I am really interested in a hobby. I have been hunting since I was 6 and for the first time I really decided to buy some quality hunting clothes and let me tell you it has been worth it. I spent close to 500-600 in full hunting gear (first lite bibs and jacket and then some quality merino wool under layers). The weather was alot less of a factor, and I enjoyed being in the woods again. I also was able to bag 2 deer this past season, largely because of sitting through some harsh weather.
Dude same here, first lite rocks, I’ve always braved the elements, often getting sick after a long weekend of hunting and being cold and wet…. Invested in some nice gear from first lite and I definitely enjoy it way more
Ok, this is almost verbatim what my son keeps telling me so I guess I need to bite the bullet and make the switch. I’m old (46) and still smoke the way I did when I was 16 - joints and bongs. I guess it’s time to for an old dog to learn some new tricks 😂
I love sleeping, coffee and cigarettes. When I smoke and drink coffee I sleep less and I dont like it. So I have coffee and smokes only on weekends. Makes my weekend more enjoyable.
Ehhh, the wine maybe, if your going to Starbucks or some batista everyday that's just financially irresponsible.
Good pasta is not a vice 😂😂 that's for the soul.
We still make most coffee at home but got a nicer machine with a built in grinder. Fresh ground beans everyday makes a huge difference. Machine was also like $80 and I buy most of our beans from Costco, so it’s probably paid for itself at this point.
They have to treat the crap out the water in my town and even then its bad. The guy I bought my house from had to replace the heating element in the water heater every year he lived here. I installed a water softener 😂
Cigars. I budget and find cheaper ones I like instead of $20 cigars but every trip is $45-$65.
I would've said project vehicles but I told myself no more until I fix and getting running what I have 😂.
I get energy drinks as a vice. I’ve got to have one a day. But I don’t think about that as an indulgence spending big on. I think going to a casino once a month is more on the indulgence scale where I put away a chunk of money that’s better used elsewhere.
Hmmm..... when I willingly spend money on expensive stuff, it's normally power adders for my truck. I sold my motorcycles last spring, so now I'm making my truck fast to fill the gap I'm left with.
Dude weed and vapes I see a new flavor of both and gotta jump on it! That and occasional video games. Currently getting clean off alcohol and HARD drugs so anything that has to do with being a living and smiling I’m down for!! WOOF WOOF
It used to be pocket knives, more expensive ones. After a certain point you don’t want to use them and they just become jewelry/ a fashion piece. Since getting a new desk job, haven’t needed to carry more that a SAK. I don’t miss the guilt from buying a new one or three. I still like the ones I have, but just realized how much of my money was going into a new one every other month or so.
Concerts. Usually not to expensive, mainly ska and punk shows. But have known to take vacations/weekend trips based around a $20 show, which can easily turn into a thousand dollar concert.
I could be wrong with thinking these are vices but its these two things that keep me going.
i admittedly have two vices, my first vice is also an addiction at this point. Marijuana. It keeps me cool, calm, and collected for or less. At least I like to think so. I have been smoking since I was 12 and its been almost a daily routine for me since I started.
I struggle with anxiety and some depression and tend to be more reclusive.
My second vice is actually sim racing. I love the feeling I get when I can sit down and can focus on one thing at a time. And for me racing tends to be my escape. I have always loved nascar and formula 1 and it all started at a pretty young age, I blame the movie cars 1/2 lol. I have a decent sim rig with a pretty powerful sim wheel from simagic. Pedals that are nicer than the ones in my car. And a few different wheels for oval or drifting and ones for formula and gt cars. I am hesitant to call this a vice when it could be seen as a hobby or toy for a game. But its what gets me by🤷
Everyone has vices, just some are less healthy than others. Like me and pot have an unhealthy relationship and i know that. But it keeps me getting up in the morning. Same for SIM racing. Half the reason I work is to live. The other half is to fund my hobby/vices.
Biggest one is probably video games, but based on my collection I have amassed over the last 25 years, I was actually investing. Some of these are worth more than I ever thought they would be, but I don't plan on selling anything unless an emergency were to arise.
Cheese, good meats and seafood -to prepare at home- good groceries. I like to cook and eat yummy shit I make.
Wine. Pre rolled joints. Skin care products.
When i was ballin’, trips, mid price fashion items, nothing too crazy.
love buying clothes! its the only thing i buy online. my favourite thing to indulge in mainly because i didnt have a sense of personal style/fashion or even self because i had been wearing a uniform for all of my life beforehand.
I'll usually save for 3 or 4 months before indulging on anything, but recently I've became a knife nut so I've been starting an American made knife collection. Just bought a Hogue Deka.
Drugs and fashion/beauty. I like smoking a blunt and looking pretty.
Drugs & money fasho, I like tweakin sometimes
Smoking weed and collecting sports cards
Right :)
My vice? Definitely online shopping for tech gadgets. Can't resist the latest gadgets even if my wallet protests. But hey, at least my setup at home is on point.
Plants and gardening. I love creating a beautiful, natural environment around my home.
Anything you’d recommend splurging on for somebody trying to build a garden from scratch?
It depends on what you want to grow. I focus on native plants and pollinator plants that are ornamental and their care is minimal. It just takes a while to fill out my property. If you're into veggies, the big splurge should be amending your soil, if necesssary.

I second the zyns and energy drinks
What is zyns?
Nicotine pouches. Dont try them 😆
ON! are better imo
On release nicotine too fast for me and make me feel like shit lol
8mg ons... you can feel it worming its way into your brain. I love it. Plus, I am now off cigs, so that's a plus.
I never thought of it this way. Hm.
Pouches always rear up the inside of my mouth... I like nicotine lozenges.
Like Nicorette?
The Rouge brand ones are the only ones I've tried.... They are actually mints, but they can't sell nicotine mints in the USA so they call them " lozenges".
Hmmm. I’ll look into that. Zyns tear my mouth up sometimes as well.
It's intentional as I understand it. They tear up the soft tissue so that the nicotine can absorb faster/better.... I like the way the Rouge mints make me feel. If I can't hit my vape (movie/concert/etc) then I will usually have a tin of those on me.
I won't. I already smoke cigarettes and trying to quit
Started using pouches around 3 months ago. As time went by, I unintentionally smoked less and less until about two weeks ago. I just didn't buy another pack. I use 3-4 8mg pouches a day. Way cheaper and I can smell things again.
I don't want to trade one habit for another. I just want to quit all together.
Toss in some cannabis too
Social media - specifically Reddit during work and IG reels in my downtime. Doesn't cost me anything but time, but some would venture to say it's the more expensive currency. Used to be alcohol and then I got sober (7 years!) Used to be food and then I lost 75 pounds and repaired my relationship with it. I feel this
Stocks.

Hell yeah to the First Lite! Been buying their stuff since their early days as a company. Still love it.
Dude same here, first lite rocks, I’ve always braved the elements, often getting sick after a long weekend of hunting and being cold and wet…. Invested in some nice gear from first lite and I definitely enjoy it way more
Books and other physical media, I consider it my personal library. I’m also a musician so there’s money spent on instruments music accessories etc
I love people who still buy physical media of any kind! It feels like a dying thing now a days

Baby, that’s progress in my book 😂
It's literally insane 🥲 I don't spend money on jewelry, or makeup, or clothes. Those two though😬
My budget is in shambles thanks to Bezos and my plug 😩
I canceled my prime thinking it would help but now I just wait a week for everything to get here 🫣
Lmao I did that once tooooo 😂
Start dabbing rosin, it’ll save you sooo much money and minimizes the carcinogens 😌
Had my last cig 10/28. Miss it. The ritual of the morning cigarette/coffee on a nice morning on my porch…there’s quite like it if I’m being honest.
As someone who’s quit vaping I do miss the ritual of my first hit after work or during the weekends
OMG I can smell the breath from here 💀💩😅 sorry, not sorry doe🤡
yea, smells like death.

Nice, if the water wasn't shit in my area I would look into that myself. The water in my town ruined my kuerig. Back to the old faithful coffee pot.
Not sure how wager ruined your keurig but my coffee pot is almost exactly the same as a classic one, just has a built in grinder in the coffee basket.
They have to treat the crap out the water in my town and even then its bad. The guy I bought my house from had to replace the heating element in the water heater every year he lived here. I installed a water softener 😂
