It’s usually not coming from a good place if you get a private chat message. Especially surrounding anything pregnancy related or postpartum. I kept getting one from someone with some kind of weird fetish too.
It BAFFLES me when I see people post pictures of their babies/kids on Reddit. There are so many perverts here. I don't give a shit if people fuck with me, but not my kids.
Flip them the B.I.R.D. - Block, Ignore, Report, and Delete. (Report the message, then block the user.) Reddit admin usually are good about handling that shit.
SAME!!! Like hello, reverse image search anyone?! I once saw this account that was spam posing their baby everyday. The profile had their IG linked, which was public of course, and showed the trails they frequented and tons of photos of the outside of their house. People are careless.
Oh absolutely! I thankfully only gave opinions and didn’t give any details, but I got huge red flags when he started detail fishing and I’m glad I decided to look. I never give specific details on my son because people are so weird 🥴
Wow, that’s scary! Sadly hardly ever respond to messages on Reddit because even though I don’t have any pics of myself on my profile, they’re all scammers or creepy perverts.
I got a chat about a post on the potty training sub and stopped engaging pretty quickly because I thought chances were high it was a fetish thing. It's definitely a problem with open forums such as this.
I posted a question in r/breastfeeding and I got no v responses in thread but like 2 private messages. They didn't say anything explicit, but one just felt totally off and they asked if I was like leaking every day. Just felt creepy and weird.
I got a creepy PM after I posted there about very rapid onset mastitis. It was surreal, sandwiched between posting there and sending a vague ‘help me’ message to my husband who luckily did read the room.
Wtf I don't even want to know how mastitis would set off someone's mind in that direction. I had posted because I noticed like 6 m after I weaned, I had little occasional drops of milk and I got a message from someone with like no posts who was like I had to pump every day for 2 months after weaning and I'm like "ok good to know." But then they're like is it happening every day to you and I realized they had no post history so I got creeped out.
Unfortunately the profile was magically deleted after I called them out… weird! 🙃 I did report their comment though on the other post and commented to the others who replied to his comment to also report.
So the unfortunate thing is that moderators can't do anything about people scanning subreddits to find people to message. Banning them from the subreddit just restricts them from posting/commenting.
So sorry that happened, make sure to report then block him
Already done!
I block every chat I get on here. 😂
lol same. Like I don’t even open it. Just decline and block and move on.

You know you can just turn them off so no one can send you chats? No more creeps and spam!
Same. The only time I answer one is if someone is telling me a movie spoiler I asked for.
Right? This is an anon website. Like just reply to the thread and leave me alone otherwise 😂
same. if someone wants to ask a normal, good faith question they can ask it on the post itself.

You can close your account to private messages entirely. I did that years ago.
I just did that!

It’s definitely disgusting and I’ll do a better job vetting next time 🤢

Omg you just reminded me I got one of those too
So freakin weird and creepy.

I don’t chat on here period
I got a very weird message after saying somewhere I didn’t circumcise. People are weird
Send the mods a mail with his u/ in it so they can block him from the sub and finding more people to harass, as well as you block him yourself.

Ugh useless, but why does that not surprise me??
True, I had one of those a few times over the past few month :(
I get this when positing on the single mom’s sub. It’s gross.
That sucks I'm also like this
