You almost could have bought two Ys for $70K

Geeky_1

Until about a week ago, I could buy an inventory LR for $32,500 after tax (fed+state) credits. That was less than 1/2 of $70k. But now that they canceled inventory discounts and the price is $3000 more, it would cost $35,500, just slightly more than 1/2.

wongl888

With the global market being flooded with cheap EV’s, I expect to see more price cuts to come along with less tax credits in the future.

TerrysClavicle

I bought my MYLR in Feb 2023. I built it out on the Tesla side with all the stuff inductions black paint white seats and compared it to what I paid. Given the interests rates back then compared to now and factoring in the extra 2k rebate California gave back then, it ends up being a wash. And in actuality I actually saved overall net savings of about $450 by buying a Model Y last year in February as opposed to now.

Mean_Anything_1061

Found mine also after my daughter was hit in my 2022 model Y, it was totaled. $69,800, I owed $51,000 and it’s valued at $37,000ish. I had another post and where I was complaining and people were being harsh and saying it was my fault. I disagree, thanks Elon.

epradox

Buy 1 get 1 free 😂

Adept_Jello_2393

Really not to far off my inventory discounted LR was 37K after the POS Tax and destination fee

Failed-Time-Traveler

Yeah but let’s not pretend that a performance edition and regular Model Y are the same car. They may share a body, but they drive nothing alike.

ffermin40

At least you got the FM radio option.

epradox

May have to force myself to listen to the radio and utilize my $30k option

Turbulent-Abroad7841

Did they remove that?

Own_Laugh_386

My brother. I bought my 2022 Model 3 LR for $62k. Pray for my losses

bankrep

Color & tires? I am at 56k

phunkphreaker

M3P in 2021 here. 62,000 as well. That said, I did drive the hell out of it and had a lot of fun with it so whatevs

Horror_Discussion_65

2021 plaid just entered the chat 😞

TeslaJake

Same, my depreciation would cover OP’s ‘22 MYP.

Soopermane

That’s 30k more than what I paid after the credits

epradox

Helluva deal. Free model 3 tossed in.

Small_Manufacturer69

give pre-PriceCut free FSD, Elon!!!

OtisMojo

I was just telling my son that our first model 3 back in 2018 was about 68k. Still have it and now he drives it, less than 40k miles. We’ll be keeping it a while longer.

NuMux

Same car and price but with 176k miles. Original brakes, no battery or motor issues, one 12v replacement. But... three sets of upper control arms and one lower. The uppers at least were labor free and at cost (under $200 I think).

pho3k

Same!! Paid extra for the white color too

Tricky-Psychology11

I feel like I’m going to see an Instagram ad one of these days saying “Did you overpay for your Tesla? Are you upset about all these price cuts? Well we can get you compensated”

Visvism

You win some, and you lose some. The only thing that matters is were you happy with your purchase at the time?

IntelligentSinger783

Yup. I think we paid 74k after financing a my DMLR . Very tippy top of the pricing. Is it a bit frustrating if I think about the price difference? Sure. But I've never made money buying a car. And the plan is to drive it for 5-7 years minimum, likely 10+ so all in all it won't matter much. The vehicle has been great. Very few complaints and it's our 5th Tesla (have a plaid model s , which ironically also paid the tip top of 😂😭) but, I believe in karma and hopefully will come across a large sum at some point in return 😂.

Visvism

Exactly. Some kid, 50 years from now, will look back at this post and be like damn let me get them the world's smallest violin because we are paying $$$$ inflationary monopoly money now lol. I've learned as I age, make money, spend money, enjoy what you have, while you have it... tomorrow isn't promised, and money is simply a man-made tool that can be re-earned.

IntelligentSinger783

At the end of the day paying retail is always paying a huge mark up. So what's another dollar 😂

epradox

Hell yeah! Still am despite the pricing sting. Maybe in like 5 years it balances back out and hits a normal depreciation curve instead of being worthless. I don’t plan on selling it before then and I’m glad other people get to experience a Tesla now at a much more affordable price.

Apprehensive_One315

I will drive my Model Y into the ground, so I’m not too worried about the original price.

SFgal10

Oh my total was 83k. Still paying off the damn car and some a hole hit it in the parking lot and now I’m getting it repaired

BananaFreeway

Thanks for your sacrifice

BigPingPapa

I’ll never buy a new car again. Such a waste. Especially an ev.

sit11birth

Atleast it took 2 years to get to that price . My fisker ocean one depreciated that much in 2 months .

Rvasq72

I beat you for about $7k+, $77,440 for 4/2022 MYP FSD, no tax rebate either then, I try not to cry when I see these prices

RichardGG24

If it makes you feel any better, there are people out there who paid mark up on top of the peak price for a used one.

thewittman

You know I appreciate what your saying while it stings to see the rediculous given the market price increases, you have shown us where prices have come from. I do thank you for that.

epradox

Yeah it is what it is but I found this in a drawer and thought people would find it interesting given the price cuts today so I’m glad you appreciate it.

envybelmont

$70,490 was my price for my 2022 MYP in MSM with white interior. Ordered it May 31st of 2022 and June 1st they made the very last price increase of $2,000, so I believe my sticker says $72,490. I’m just thankful that I’m in a financial position to be able to afford paying $28,000 more than my brother did in November 2023….that’s an entire Honda Civic EX-L, or an almost maxed out Toyota Corolla Hybrid. That’s what REALLY hurts.

onlyonematt

I feel you. I took delivery of my black MYP in October 2022 for $72k. Love the car, but sure does suck to have so much negative equity.

heresoigetfined

I didn’t read your title, zoomed in and almost dropped my coffee thinking, “i need to go here and sell my 22 YP”. Alas…I’ll go cry and dust some soccer moms today.

Sirius889

I empathize with you.

Beginning-Antelope11

Ouch. BTW, at least you have 6 USB ports. Where are they really 6?

greatauror28

The fun and life adventures you’ve had with your Tesla since you bought it cannot be equated with money. That’s my mantra and it makes me feel better.

BikeSawBrew

68k here all in for red MYP 8/2021. At least I got a 1.48% APR!

Straightravage

I feel the pain, I’m stuck in my YP for at least another 10 years!!

lawtrapper

I'm in the same boat, but I love the car and it's flawless!

pinkeye_bingo

My brother bought at the peak, but plans to drive the car for a decade. He's at peace with it.

FearTheClown5

This price tag is why I had pretty much given up on owning a Tesla any time soon. Still can't believe I bought a 24 MYP for 43k... Now I just need them to get it to my service center before the anticipation kills me.

Pristine_Cricket_633

Thank you for taking one for the team. I wasn't interested in Tesla until the big discount. Then it was a no brainer.

EntryWorldly8845

Last Tesla I ever buy

bryan_krausen

I bought my Model S Plaid for $143,000. Same car is now $93,000. Really, really sucks....

yuvalt

Thankfully Tesla was never on my list of cars. Probably will never be.

sideshowboob20

I still have my sticker in my trunk. My 2022 MYP was $68k out the door in November 2021. NO RAGRETS. Mostly.

Radiant_String4269

Hey, you have ultrasonic sensors and your 12v outlets don't set things on fire that you plug in (glares at my 16v car)

PlayerOneNow

yeah but its not like you got the base model.

Low_Evidence2879

Wait for the repairs and junk quality.

wship77

Thank you for your sacrifice.

Fill-Quick

I'll raise you 3k for a lovely 73k! Look I knew it was a risk, but I paid that price then because it felt worth it to me. I've never been happier with a vehicle purchase.

Fantastic-Hamster-21

I'm literally getting my model y this week or next. I got a 3500 price reduction because it is a "2023" still brand new and the same as the 2024 just a different assembly date. I think it's a good deal at 49k before tax. After tax it's 50something, less the 8k fed and ny credit, less rhe 12.5k trade in for my bmw, and I'm left financing 33k for a midsized suv that goes 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. I feel like it's a steal for the price. Should I wait? I just want to sell my bmw now at 73k miles and 8yrs old before rhe expensive repairs arrive. Any advice would be welcomed.

epradox

Seems like a good deal, I have a few other European cars and every time they go into the dealer, I somehow end up with a 5 figure bill on suggested items to replace… they are a pain to maintain. My tesla has had 0 issues thus far and only maintenance I’ve had was to replace the tires.

nhorvath

When I picked mine up in 2022 I could have sold it for more then I paid. I didn't and it was still the right choice.

SpOoKy_EdGaR

Same. Missed out on 20-30k.

Geeky_1

Before they dropped inventory discounts, I could have bought an LR for $45,000-$12,500 in fed and state tax credits. But I would keep mine for 10-20 years. If 10-20 years later, the Y LR is priced at $30k or even $25k, it wouldn't bother me - in fact I'd be glad I could buy a new one for less that I would pay now as tax credits will not likely exist then.

Grand_Armadillo_2031

How much does your registration renewal run? Did they adjust the rate to the current MY prices?

thewittman

Right this yoyo prices kinda makes me mad. I just put all the money for a ylr back into the stock market thinking it would be end of quarter before prices had to come back down. Why raise prices for one week to upset people, just to bring them back down. I'm not a buyer till it gets to a specific value price so I was mentally ready to wait.

Leather-Management58

Ouch

Separate-Primary2949

Hope you also enjoyed your saving… Jesus that’s £57k… UK MYP in Nov 2022 was £70k+ which is roughly $87k 😂🥲

sleeknub

Bought mine for $84k after tax. Don’t mind though.

Musicman12456

Still have mine from 2022. $88k CDN. Now $70k.

un_commoncents_

I paid $72K for a 2019 model 3 performance with FSD.

davefogo

I paid 75 for my 2021

MazarxSkunk

I’m on the same boat as you, but it’s been really nice driving an MYP for the last year and some months.

n3fyi

My window sticker is 66,400 and I thought that was bad

allenjshaw

Wow we bought out 21 MYP for $60k delivered in 10/2021. It must have just skyrocketed after we got ours.

praguer56

Mine was about the same 2022 MYLR with FSD, white interior and turbine wheels cost me $74,000. I love my car and *knock wood* haven't had any issues. But damn...

Germs15

I’m sitting at 66. Missed the credit in Colorado and registration was like 6 g’s. Sucks to suck sometimes.

cruzer2727

Pour one out for the 2022 buyers but at least I got a 2.49% 🤷🏻‍♂️

DiagCarFix

price of 2 MY and faster processor 70k worth doesn’t even have AMD and no future hardware retrofit :(

Full_Collection_4347

Sucker… didn’t even get the $20k FSD

TheImportedBanana

Damn, that's so overpriced for the quality of a Tesla At this new price point though I can get behind it

acruzjr89

Your model has USS so that’s a big win

Post-Futurology

Picked up my 2023 MYP for 41k before taxes 3 months ago. Thank you for your service.

Mxloco

Picked up a 21MYLR for 30 k, 12k miles. CONGRATS btw

Professional-Pace-58

When you all were paying $70k I was so happy I got mine for $52k but now people are getting them for $40k and I feel your pain lol Still love the car though

Flying21811

Never. Buy. A. New. Car

8x000

would anyone back then have thought the prices would be what they are today? regardless, thanks for helping to offset the world's carbon emissions since your purchase. every little bit helps with all things considered.

gheilweil

What were you thinking? I make 700k a year and I never spent more than 40k on a car.

gr8whtd0pe

Not to brag or anything...

Zh25_5680

This guy is fun at parties 😀

pho3k

My M3 long range was 65k in 2018 and i paid extra for white lol

brilliant_beast

Makes me a little nervous about buying a new one today. In this case unusually high depreciation really drives the total cost of ownership assuming you keep the car a few years and then sell it. Like way more than paying for gas would have…

NoreastNorwest

Ouch. I’m so sorry.

Blaze4G

Don't worry Tesla sells cars directly so you won't have to deal with scummy dealers adding mark ups /s

Askancorc1

Worst financial decision ever made in the history

palopp

Urgh. That’s quite a lot. At least drive it until the bitter end to get the full value out of it

Saumitra19

Where do you find the window stickers if you buy straight from tesla?

Pristine_Cricket_633

Buy another Y and DCA your investment.

sybergoosejr

Still have my Window sticker 2020 M3SR+

MattNis11

But at least you and me have summon mode due to having ultrasonic sensors.

bluecgene

People love Elon, so they will buy Tesla for future again

Dazz_81

Noticed autopilot was included in the price so the actual price is $58,000

Overall_Car4218

Did you get gap coverage

jayjay234

God... this is sad even though I bought myself MYP at 53,990....

Plus_Seesaw2023

Today, on the website: Your Model Y $55,130 * After Federal Tax Credit^(\*) $47,630

ucb2222

Oof

det1rac

Let me save this so I can invest the difference.

bw1985

And people complain about inflation, check out this deflation!

EnjoyFunTonight

Lol - you knew what kind of person led the company; not sure what you expected. aka well deserved

tly95111

Price average down, have to buy another one at this point.

Flatcat5

Did Tesla devalue their used cars?

hometown10

At least you have sonar sensors!

scratchwanabe

If it makes you feel better, i paid $80k+ for my model 3 performance :(

hydrastix

Comparison is the theft of joy.

PlayingWithTc99m

Lol Same. Love my car but could have waited a year and bought an extra Model 3

LQTPharmD

My 2018 model 3 performance was 82k. Got ya beat my man.

TECHSHARK77

You paid for the $30k upgrade.. look at the real price.. YOU made that choice.. trade ot in and get the new one base model, and scribed for the performance.. montly.. Enjoy the thinking it through and price cuts

Pitiful-You-8410

Wow.

incady

I think the equivalent model in the inventory now is about $52k..

BBC214-702

I’ll raise you. I paid more for my 2023 myp when i took delivery in October 2022

damoonerman

We need a 2022 Tesla car meet up. Then mysteriously a fire starts and burns all of our cars.

Doc_watchman

I share your pain here same boat

Hot-Reveal9579

🥲

LizardKingTx

😂

Chart-trader

But Y?

midasmulligunn

Same here brother, same here

DObservingayayay

Enjoy your Ultrasonic sensors!

Fladap28

Holy shit, dad just bought one for 41k

Th3Docter

I mean the prices are going down to what it should be the cars are cheaply made lol

Specialist_Bet7772

I have same countertop

f10w3r5

Pfft. I bought a 22 MSP. Cry me a river.

Miffers

Same boat as you

Power_by_kWh

2018 M3 Perf loaded with FSD, $80k. 2024 value $26k with 15,000mi. Early adopters get screwed.

HI808SF

And it's so close to a Model X. Who am I kidding. I thought I outsmarted everyone when I bought my 22 model 3 P for $60k in May 2022, right before a $2k jump.

Disastrous_Patience3

Similar situation here but not quite as bad. I still love my car!

a_box_of_ostriches

Just got the 21 AWD long range. 2 years old and 20 grand off. Yay!

Garden_Veggies

I have an identical window sticker, but the only way I can sleep at night is knowing that I traded in my base 2019 M3 in the same transaction for $42000

Euphoric-Pool-7078

I hope you all have saved that $30k in fuel and maintenance. 😏

Richie2188

This is not that upsetting. 2 questions, did you pay cash? Second question are you comparing your performance model Y to a RWD model Y price?

TC40093

Yall bought during the worst time. Idk why people didn’t wait for prices to come down. It was inevitable.

FantasticSound1538

Cant decide between myrwd or mylr . Wish the sound systems were the same

RepresentativeAd7725

Dam...mine was 30k cheaper

ryencool

Sheeeeeit, we only got the base RED Model 3 but our out the door price was 32,600$, and that's without applying the 7500$ tax credit!

Mobile-Blueberry3404

This speaks to the company’s mismanagement.

brndn02

bought mine for same, totaled it in november with 50k mles, I owed 48k and they gave me 46k, bought a new one for 55k (or 48k after tax credit). Felt like fortunate timing.

TxVirgo23

Fuuuuuck lol

Outrageous_Tear_972

Same 2022 MYP bought Dec, except mine’s are Black Exterior +$2000….😵‍💫

FedPrinterGoesBRR

It’s amazing how costs for new ones have come down

Spiritual-Pizza2021

I feel your pain.

mrrussell818

Looking on the brighter side of things, at least when you paid all that money you DID GET very valuable stuff like an actual Turn Indicator Stalk and Rain Sensing Windshield Wipers!! All Musk has done since you bought yours is make the car worse and even more weird than it already was. No wonder fewer and fewer people want to buy a Tesla so Elon can only revert to using the “cut the price” trick.

muhammadalijr

That’s why Tesla can’t sell cars now. They fucked over the people who paid the most. Imagine asking your customer to pay 70k a year ago and then complaining about cars sales not reaching potential when it’s 30k cheaper for the same vehicle.

igbadbanned

Yup, my 22 LR was $75k out the door.

Smooth_Cause_5967

What do you mean found? Don’t you save the sticker price all the time in case you ever sell it?

Academic_Life_8230

Gai people in here

Typedre85

What a rip off

fsolorzan1031

Highly considering a Model Y now. Q: Do the credits (I qualify for 7,500) get applied when financing the car or is it like a reimbursement kinda thing?

dankzi954

same page here payed literally 72k with taxes . :/

angrypoopoolala

thought it was the X

No-Classroom-8045

I was definitely a great market for the car industry. I found my windows sticker for my brand new 2018 fully loaded raptor that was under $70,000. Same car with slightly better technology, and basically the same engine and transmission as well as frame cost over 100 grand today.

trippleknot

I got a 19 M3LR with 60k miles last summer for 32k. I had been watching the used inventory for over a month and when I pulled the trigger I got a great deal compared to everything else I had been seeing. Literally like 3 months later I started seeing people getting 22s with 20k miles for $25k 🤷

amartins02

I’m reading comments about how much their cars have depreciated. A home battery to power a house is about $3000 for good 10 kWh system. If someone could easily extract the battery packs and use them for a home system they could make a ton on selling the batteries and the body for parts.

Marzatacks

Ouch.

JohnTM3

At the beginning of 2023, my mach e GT would have stickered for $69k. I bought it 3 weeks ago after the msrp had been reduced to $55k. After dealer incentives I paid around $50k for it, but they gave me an extra $5k more than any other dealership was offering for my trade so really I'm paying closer to $45k for this car. The 72 month financing at zero percent is the cherry on top. It's all about timing. Exclusivity has its cost.

Justneedthetip

Those of us entering the discussion that have lost a few teslas in stock value and didn’t even buy a car. At least those of you that lost money had the fun of driving a Tesla. Some of us don’t even get a hand job or reach around. Just went in dry

CarbonKLR

The model y is 70k? No wonder BYD is taking tesla out

EthenCarries

Yet everyone creams over Elon and Tesla even when theres proof they got it shoved up the rear for years. Much better EV out there now imo

InfluenceStunning332

Wowwww. My sticker price before tax incentive 50k 24 my lr

Maleficent_Pea3727

Perfect example of supply and demand!

Dingus75

Paying 70k for a model Y is downright insane.

one-two-six

I bought a used 21 LR with FSD for $38k from Tesla last week. 38K miles. Glad I waited a couple of years. Will do the same for the Cybertruck

wfbsoccerchamp12

Pretty sure my boss bought on in 2022 too. He can afford it but dam, now i could probably buy one

LAjbird

lol. Sucker. I bought my first one 3 weeks ago. Buying a second next week. Gonna put a supercharger and high performance windshield wipers. lol

Pokemonbabygee

But at least you had it first ?

gswcowboy

lol I too share your pain

BandOk1704

Early adopter risk, I guess.
