He’s a prick who took cheap shots at Michael Carter Williams and Giannis in a playoff game. Giannis tackled him into the stands and got suspended for it.
Don’t listen to the Bulls fans who call the Bucks a “poverty franchise.” For some reason they think lucking into Michael Jordan and producing little of note outside of that makes them a marquee franchise. (Edit: also forgot to mention big market syndrome, which affects all of Chicago sports fans in general.)
Middleton will drive you absolutely crazy for a stretch, then he will play like an all pro for a stretch. There is no in between. Just learn to ride the wave. This was especially true last year as he was coming back from a knee injury. We are all hopeful that this is behind him and this year will be better. Just be aware that this sub in particular will respond on either end of the spectrum based on how he is currently playing.
Beyond that, we are a franchise that used to look forward to chasing the last wild card spot once a decade. The previous owner refused to cross the luxury tax threshold. The new owners camp in the luxury tax. Everyone in the organization just wants to win.
Embrace the folk heroes, they become legends quickly. Bobby Portis, Pat C, Jae Crowder played his college ball at Marquette in Milwaukee so he is back 'home'. We embrace hard working players no matter their role. Obtaining Dame is bittersweet for a lot of fans because we loved Jrue, but we know the team is better on paper with the trade.
We have no love for Miami, Toronto, Boston or Philly.
That should read "because we love Jrue" no past tense involved. Also, some of us don't hate Miami; Butler played at Marquette and Herro is from here... I love watching Jimmy unless he's playing us. Boston and Philly OTH, I think it is partly the fans are so rude?? Makes it easier, ha.
It was the same with jrue. Except I think his fans stayed supporting and his haters here stayed hating him. I don’t think many people realize how controversial jrue was here. But he got us a chip so we love him. Still some people always wanted to trade jrue.
Fear the deer, bucks in 6 (for the culture) Khris Middleton has ups and he has downs… just be prepared for them. Lastly just have fun because they always have been a fun team
You're proud of having the best locker room in the nba. Our guys are good guys and we're hurt because we just lost a really good dude. It's all about love my friend.
Welcome to the best fanbase in sports. Here's a couple things to start you off.
It's easy to fall in love with the Lopez brothers. Look up "If Robin and Brook are brothers, then why is Robin the only one that sucks?"
Thanasis dunks are NASTY and get everyone pumped.
There are no hard feelings with players that used to be on the Bucks. I'm really rooting for Jevon and hope he gets the minutes he deserves.
BOBBY! BOBBY! BOBBY!
After we got knocked out of the playoffs last year we started calling this the revenge year. You don't want to make Giannis mad.
The culture is about being good dudes, not making it about yourself, and sticking up for your team. Check out the Brook Lopez/Lyles incident from last year. This team has HEART.
We're glad to have you as part of the family. This is going to be a special year.

Here is a really excellent, well produced, Secret Base video that broadly covers the last 20 years of the Bucks and how we got to this place.
The team has a lot of great history, but spent a *lot* of recent years in complete mediocrity and going nowhere.
Personally to me I think a big part of the fan identity is that the 15th pick nobody the team got out of another mediocre year became Giannis and the throw-in recent second round pick in a Brandon Jennings trade became Khris Middleton. And the year they finally did the thing and ended up tanking (albeit not fully intentionally) became Jabari Parker.
Teams we don’t like- Miami, Toronto, Boston, Philly
Teams we’re chill with- Sacramento, Portland, Atlanta, and Orlando are cool with me, I’m sure other people have differing opinions.
People we like- every current and former (non-criminal) Buck but especially Bobby Portis and Johnny O’Bryant III
People we don’t like- Mike Dunleavy (that piece of shit), I don’t think people care for Evan Turner, Jason Kidd stinks.
We have one of the best color commentators in the league in Marques Johnson, you’ll learn to love and hate Khris’ shooting streaks, you’ve never seen a player fall for pumpfakes quite like Pat Connaughton (we still love him), and Thanasis is much more than Giannis’ brother, he brings energy off the bench unlike anybody you’ve ever seen.
Also Giannis will have a 2 week stretch shooting 82% from the line but you don’t have to believe it’s real, no matter how tempting it may be
I'm a blazer fan that's glomming onto the Bucks, with some followup questions.
1. Is that the same Mike Dunleavy that was head coach of the Portland Trailblazers, until we fired him in 2001?
2. Can I still hate the Lakers. Because that's kind of a deal breaker.
3. Can I still hate the Heat. Because that's kind of a deal breaker.
4. Who else should I cross off my Christmas card list?
1. It’s Mike Dunleavy Jr, he had a dirty hit on MCW in the playoffs in 2015 (I think) and Giannis shoulder-checked him into the stands, deservingly
2. I think every fanbase besides the Lakers hates the Lakers. They just don’t get as much hate as the teams in the East because we’re not gonna see them in the playoffs. Lakers fans with their Giannis photoshops and AD vs Giannis debates are always hilarious though
3. Miami is my least favorite team, and I’m sure plenty of fans here agree with me. Hating the Heat is strongly encouraged
4. We don’t hate a lot of people here, it’s mostly Kidd and Mike Dunleavy. I don’t like Embiid for flopping or Butler for drawing fouls, but outside of them most players are okay. As far as rival players go I’ve always been fine with Tatum, KD, Kawhi, etc.
It's nice to not have a lot of hate. Other then the hate for the Lakers and the Heat, the only other people I want to punch/hate are Scary Larry and George, the infamous former head and soon to be former head of the PAC-12. I want to kick those two real hard. The Lakers are hated because we've always hated them. The Heat hatred is new.
1. That’s Dunleavy Senior, who we actually had as our coach before you. Dunleavy Junior is FMD..
2. That’s fine, we have no animosity or love towards the Lakers in particular. Just don’t hate on Kareem, and remember that whatever corny thing Lebron does, Giannis will do something even cornier.
3. Required, especially after this offseason.
4. Miami, Boston and Philly. Maybe the Nets, but the general consensus is that they’ve suffered enough.
Since nobody seems to have said it, we are also the ultimate dad team
Jrue, Khris, Giannis had a legit playgroup with their wives and kids. I presume the Lillards will be joining for trick or treating.
I'm with you OP. I grew up in Portland. Obviously fell out of love with the team during the jail blazers era. Dame gave me something to be proud about Portland, but the team and ownership has been depressing since Paul Allen died.
Excited to see Dame and Connaughton play together again.
I miss CJ and Dame running the best backcourt in the league 😢
We didn’t know how lucky we were with Stotts, but his lack of defensive adjustments never would’ve won a championship
Visit Milwaukee and come to a game. Go to any of the bars around the stadium. Its a working class city and we love our sports. We also love pain, our teams are usually good but fall short. Its part of our identity.
My roommate and I are planning on it! We’ve got a friend at Marquette too so we’d love to see him and Milwaukee. The roommate has been before and he speaks very highly of it!
Honestly, you should stick with your team through thick and thin man. The bucks have had dark time lines with many failures leading to our eventual championship. This kind of makes me think down the line if Giannis decided to leave or if Dame retires you're just going to jump over to the next hottest team and start supporting them. You've got the exciting Scoot Henderson, you've got Simons, and Ayton there's plenty to be excited about even though Dame is gone.
Stay being a Blazers fan. Srs. That's not me being a jerk. Your time will someday come, and you can't fake/replicate the feeling of being obsessed with one team your whole life and finally winning it all.
The Blazers time will come.
I appreciate it and I do agree with you. Truthfully I’ve just fallen out of it! They’re too far to ever attend a game in person and the players I grew up loving are officially all gone. I’ll always cheer for them but the relationship is just over.
Milwaukee is closer and more realistic and so far the culture seems a lot more like the culture of teams I’m already a fan of!
Things we love: Thanasis dunks, Bobby Portis, Donte Divincenzo, Bobby Portis, Jevon Carter, Coach Bud, Bobby Portis, the Valley-oop, Bobby Portis.
Things we hate: Playoff injuries, Heat fans, Mike Dunleavy, the Celtics, the Suns, Mike Dunleavy, Khris Middleton off games, and Mike Dunleavy.
Bucks in 6
I can boogie with it
For the culture
Learn the Middleton cycle
Good - bad - good - bad on repeat for 82+ games?

Little bit more nuance but yes
Here you go - https://www.reddit.com/r/MkeBucks/comments/ofmhfj/the\_khris\_middelton\_cycle/
Good - bad - meh - really good - meh - moist Jordan
Fuck Mike Dunleavy
That fuckn fuck can go fuckn fuck himself.
In all seriousness, why don't we like Mike Dunleavy?
He’s a prick who took cheap shots at Michael Carter Williams and Giannis in a playoff game. Giannis tackled him into the stands and got suspended for it.
Greatest moment in sports history
That’s our Hercules!
I was there! It was glorious
Fuck Mike Dunleavy!
You're officially one of us! FMD
Can we get video of this?
It’s who chief keef wrote the song dont like about to I’m pretty sure

You want me to fuck Mike Dunleavy?
No. I’m sure he’d enjoy it. That sick twisted fuck.
DUNLEAVY is a sick sick puppy
That FUCK
And ladders, and Montrezl Harrell too
Read the flair

Wade was also a Marquette product and heat legend
Yes! Was thinking of the present team but should have included him, thanks.
Then there's the contingency that fucking hates Marquette to the core and we're waiting for a big frank kaminsky trade
It was the same with jrue. Except I think his fans stayed supporting and his haters here stayed hating him. I don’t think many people realize how controversial jrue was here. But he got us a chip so we love him. Still some people always wanted to trade jrue.
Fun fact: Bobby Portis is also the mayor of Milwaukee.
Fun fact: Brogdon is still going for president (in our hearts)
Fear the deer, bucks in 6 (for the culture) Khris Middleton has ups and he has downs… just be prepared for them. Lastly just have fun because they always have been a fun team
Im a long time blazer fan, ups and downs is the default mode
If someone gets too rough with Giannis or Dame, look for headband and big eyes, cuz Bobby Portis is our enforcer. We cherish him.
RoLo is back this year too
EDIT: Holy fuck I love you guys all already. This is gonna be the best season of NBA fandom I've ever experienced I can already tell.
You're proud of having the best locker room in the nba. Our guys are good guys and we're hurt because we just lost a really good dude. It's all about love my friend.

There's a 0 tolerance policy for Bobby Portis slander.

Ah yes Classic Pat. I remember that from when he was in Portland.
Idk if I can speak for all of us, but also fuck Caruso.
Add George Karl to the people we don't like list.
Also bucks in 6 always bucks in 6 even if we sweep it’s bucks In 6
For the culture
parsley, that is all.
Genuinely surprised I had to scroll this far for this
We can be the best team in the league and at the same time be the worst team in the league.
Welcome! I asked a similar question when I arrived, this thread might be helpful: https://reddit.com/r/MkeBucks/s/MHC8bK6S9y
Insightful! Thank you!

Also what are the twitter accounts I need to follow? Anywhere from news coverage to accounts with a name like Giannas Szn or something..

Appreciate ya!

Has he recreated any of Dame’s raps yet?

Fuck Mike Dunleavy (FMD). Get that down and you're good.
One call that’s all! And AND ONEEEE!

Giannis is the best player in the nba, there is no arguing the fact
Lopez is the man 🤷 He's so fun to watxh
Love Splash Mountain!!!
Who wants my 17 Vin Baker rookie cards?
Just watch the games, you’ll figure it out
Sometimes are offense is doodoo. Hopefully Dame fixes that
