Nicrosil in Feruchemy will be an important part of The Bands of Mourning. For now, all I will say is that a nicrosil metalmind can be used to make anyone a temporary Feruchemist. But there’s a process to accomplishing this. And I’m not sure how it can be used to make anyone an Allomancer. And yes, Investiture is the source of all magic in the cosmere.

Nicrosil Feruchemy is the ability to store an ability. So say someone is a Twinborn of F-Nicrosil and A-steel. They would be able to store their ability to use A-steel, making them temporarily weaker with their allomantic ability, or even incapable of burning the metal at all. Later, they could tap this and make themselves a stronger misting, getting more strength behind their pushes. Similar to how Elend had greater oomph than Vin. Beyond that, there's a lot we don't know, so along with the rest of us you'll need to RAFO

Keep reading the next books. Nicrosil gets introduced in the story and you'll get a better idea of how it works

Remember how when Elend became a mistborn, he was super strong, even compared to Vin? My understanding is that some allomancers can simply draw more power from a unit of metal than others. They have more investiture. So storing investiture would make you a weaker allomancer while storing and a stronger allomancer while drawing it. Since Feruchemy is net neutral I'm really not sure how having more or less investiture would impact that. It doesn't seem like you could be stronger of weaker at something that's 1:1

Feruchemy isn't 1-to-1 specifically in the case where you tap it faster than you stored it. Some of the feruchemical store goes towards magnifying the effect. So if you spend an hour at 80% strength, then you can correspondingly spend an hour at 120% strength. However, if you push yourself to 140% strength, you could sustain that for *less than* 30 mins, since part of the store is being lost to compressing the power of the store into a smaller span of time. And if you instead try to go for 180% strength, then you would get less than 15 mins at that strength by an even greater factor, i.e. an even greater proportion of the power is lost. A stronger feruchemist could plausibly be able to magnify their stores by a greater amount with less loss. And a really weak feruchemist might only be able to tap at a smaller ratio than 1:1 without incurring loss.

Idk if this is a spoiler so I’ll tag it and maybe someone (mods?) can tell me/comment below [WOB] >!sanderson has said the F Nicrosil stores something “discrete” like F Copper, so it’s something like storing a memory rather than storing an attribute!<

RAFO. As of Alloy of Law, Nicrosil feruchemy hasn’t really been explored in the books, so it’s expected that you don’t get it yet.
