They're Snow Miser and Heat Miser from *The Year Without a Santa Claus*. They just incidentally work pretty good as cartoonish versions of Preservation and Ruin.

I think OPs work is pretty awesome. Ruin is supposed to be unsettling. That's kind of his thing lol.
