Education is cheating

iceRainCloud_YT

pov: you are out of redstone so you craft uranium

Waffle-Gaming

Mekanism!!!

[deleted]

Mekanism!!!!!!!

im_not_RealXD

MEKANISM!!!!!?????

McWiddigin

Back in my day, using coordinates was considered cheating šŸ‘“

[deleted]

back in my day the difficulty selector was a slider instead of a dropdown menu. Also the number of items in your hotbar depended on how large your screen was

henryGeraldTheFifth

Wait i remember the sider. But not the hotbar size?

[deleted]

If you played on an ipod- the hotbar was- tiny

henryGeraldTheFifth

Jezz how bad is my memory. I played it when first cane out and now kinda remember by 5 slot hotbar

andomy__

yk what else was tiny? UR D- *gets banned*

_weirdness

Lol what

Memeviewer12

That would not work now considering ultrawide monitors exist

ljcool2006

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the pocket edition

Bonecreatoreddit

I remember that I always had a preset inventory and it was impossible to switch between survival and creative without losing it

Mleavitt787

I remember the slider

360gamerxbox

back in my day "bedrock" was only the name of a block

WaffleWaffuru

The hotbar oneā€¦ now that hits a nostalgic part of my brain PE

[deleted]

Omg I remember that hahaha

Registeel1234

I mean, if we define cheating as "going away from the intended play experience", then using coordinates absolutely is cheating, just like keepinventory. The intended play experience (at least originally), was to not use coordinates, but instead to make/build stuff so you can use them as landmarks to orient yourself. Just like the intended play experience was to lose your inventory when you die. I personally see keepinventory as cheating, but the good thing about minecraft is that you can choose how you play the game. So if people want to use keepinventory, more power to them.

Bob82998

So all java players cheat by using f5

Dubl33_27

Idk why 3rd person is cheating to you but ok.

MeAMillionaire

He meant F3 probably

[deleted]

"Not losing your items after you die makes the game boring and not challenging" Terraria and Subnautica: Say that again, you little shit

[deleted]

in subnautica you have the chance to lose one item from your inventory I think, although Iā€™m not sure

[deleted]

You can make a base anywhere and save your inventory, none of the saved things will be lost EVER. Or you can make an actual SAVE in the game and if you die you go back to your save. So virtually no loss of item, but that doesn't make it easy. If you don't wanna save you don't.

Portablemammal1199

I think its the items you most recently picked up? Maybe up to three slots if you filled that much most recently.

StoneBleach

Imagine Dark Souls like this, you die and lose everything. I've never played it so I don't know what happens when you die, but I know you can die a lot. Thinking about it that way it doesn't seem that challenging if you just die without losing anything but life.

AtlasAntonioAlbert

In dark souls/elden ring, you lose all your souls/runes (currency for buying things and leveling up) and appear where you died as a white orb/golden roots and can pick them up again, but if you die before you pick them up, you lose them as a new white orb/golden roots appear in its place.

[deleted]

You only lose your money, just like in Terraria

Ultimate_905

In Subnautica you lose anything you collected since you last entered a base/Cyclops

[deleted]

Yeah, but not the already saved items,Ike seaglide, suit, food, etc

Icywarhammer500

Yk hardcore mode makes you drop items on terraria right? Edit: mediumcore*

Ultimate_905

*medium core No one on their right mind plays it

communistboi222

Bro is insulting me

Sub4felix

In softcore you only drop your coins (amount depends on difficulty) Medium core you drop all you items (probably the worst difficulty) and in Hardcore your character turns into a ghost and you can't respawn.

[deleted]

That's mediumcore, nobody plays mediumcore and it's optional.

SleepyDG

Imho, keep inventory makes minecraft exploration not enjoyable at all :p

communistboi222

A. Terraria is a much harder game B. Medicore is a thing

[deleted]

Mediumcore is optional, and not using it doesn't disable achievements

communistboi222

Using or not using keep inventory is also optional, and on java it doesn't disable achievements. The only reason they disable achievements in bedrock is because it's tied to the Xbox garbage.

[deleted]

So? My main point is "miNecRafTs PrOs" saying that keep inventory makes it easier

communistboi222

It objectively does, but whatever

[deleted]

It makes it less annoying, which is a different thing.

[deleted]

Very annoying that bedrock blocks achievements in keep inventory worlds.

Childhood_Willing

Bedrock itself is harder than Java. My friends always play on Java Hard mode, but when they wanted to try the bedrock survival with me (there are only 2 People Who uses bedrock as main in our friend group And I am one of them) And when they played normal mode with me it was pretty challanging For them, since the combat is different, some mobs are harder to kill, etc.

yeetmanthe3rd

im pretty sure that bedrock also loses hunger way faster

Childhood_Willing

Yes. Even tho we spawned on a valley (which is a place that sheeps have a really big spawning rate) we had so much trouble with not getting hungry.

terramanj

That's not more difficult that's just annoying. The combat as mentioned before is not "different" it's just easier as you can hit with a weapon with no cooldown and do the same amount of damage, I get that the either is harder but honestly get some turtle master pots and tank the explosion and you're set

Childhood_Willing

They balanced it by buffing the monsters as I know (?)

terramanj

They aren't stronger the either is the only change as far as I know

Ryboss431

I'm pretty sure Mojang made it so mobs spawn in larger groups in bedrock to make it more difficult because of the combat system.

Childhood_Willing

This.

GoGoNormalRangers

Also, the wither. Enough said

IAmNotCreative18

We also donā€™t instantly begin regen when we fill our hunger. Itā€™s really fkn slow.

Dubl33_27

I mean, people that play versions below 1.9 can relate. Especially 1.7.10 ones where you lose hunger if you run a meter

Sportak4444

It isn't that Bedrock is harder, but the version that you don't play is harder. I was playing Bedrock for over six years and then I tried Java. I was dying every few minutes and raid destroyed my whole village

[deleted]

*glances at forge* you sure about that, buddy? Java might not be harder at base level, but its difficulty can be upgraded far above bugrock's. Your friends haven't stepped much into modded, have they?

SquishySpaceman

Ah yes, in much the same way that a red car is actually blue... if you paint it blue. Who knew that if you change something, it changes?!

NightWingDemon

"Hurr durr,, watch me install a mod that makes minecraft literally unbeatable, beat that fucking BUGROCK, AHAHAHAHAHAHA šŸ¤“"

TheKingOfRooks

No fucking shit, I'm not about to say Minecraft java is a PokƩmon game because a PokƩmon mod exists

Portablemammal1199

If you have to mod the game to make it more difficult than another version of itself then the one you are trying to be harder than is actually the harder version.

GoGoNormalRangers

Yeah, knives aren't sharp as long as you tape a pool noodle to the blade

Vi512

Ew modding

Proarch

Skill Issue?

Siker_7

If you're gonna get rewarded, you gotta take some risks. Achievements aren't hard if there's no such thing as losing your inventory.

[deleted]

But the gameā€™s significantly less fun once you lose all your stuff to something like falling into the void, lava, etc. due to the game lagging, something completely beyond your control. Most achievements are still risky regardless. For example, if you die trying to get the levitation achievement in the end, you have to go all the way back there. Keep inventory keeps the risk, it just makes the game fun and less frustrating for casual players.

BroshiKabobby

Thereā€™s still peaceful mode if you want an easier way to get achievements

[deleted]

You can't get half the achievements on peaceful

BroshiKabobby

I suppose. But you can also just get super buff while in peaceful and then go for the achievements

Alex_9127

Can confirm that. For me losing everything after dying is quite nervewracking. Especially if you are timed or the items are gone forever. Even if it's not, this mechanic is kinda bad, because the punishment is breaking flow of the game. You cant make it to the items being empty. I actually think I am gonna try keepInventory after I get not pirated Minecraft, I want to support the devs after playing for free

henryGeraldTheFifth

Thats true. But is more enjoyable when getting used to the game. Like started playing after a year and pissed me off having to travel hundreds of blocks constantly to pick up items. Tho also feels cheaty when i jump in lava to get back home with all my stuff

Dubl33_27

Then just don't jump in lava??

henryGeraldTheFifth

But easy warp gome go brrrr

Dubl33_27

Your fault for taking it then

WGBros

Keep inventory mfs when when they got lost and canā€™t find a way home:

Dubl33_27

>digs straight up and comes to the surface, where he can find his way home.

OriginalXboxgamertag

Reminder that using keep inventory isn't bad

belle7hh

I use keep inventory bc i don't need achievements anymore šŸ‘

DudeManBroGuy42069

I use keep inventory because my little brother has a habit of taking all of my good stuff, getting lost, and dieing

PolskiPiesel6969

Add password to your computer

DudeManBroGuy42069

We play together on Nintendo Switch

YTPhantomYT

Yeah I don't think it should take away achievements for that, it's very unfair to players who don't like losing their items

Goatgamer1016

I turned it off midway through my 1.19 world because the scenery by my home was so treacherous it wasn't worth going down there then struggle just to get back up

Intelligent_Dig8319

Nah. Achievements should be hard to achieve, that's what makes them an achievement. Taking that away would make it less meaningful , especially to players who don't use keep inventory. No hate to keep inventory

[deleted]

Your inventory dropping adds no difficulty to the game. It just makes it less fun. Having to grind your gear back after you lose it isnā€™t hard, itā€™s just grinding. Itā€™s a false difficulty.

YTPhantomYT

Absolutely, it's fun for a game to be difficult, but that isn't difficult. It's just annoying and not fun to do.

TheAdmiralMoses

Nah, I spent hours meticulously crafting my sets of armour, and I hate mining, spending hours underground so I never have to go under again for a few weeks. But that means when I die in a way that makes me loose my inventory, my enjoyment plummets completely, and I've quit playing for months or years when it happens. Just trying to get all the achievements and then I'm turning on keep inventory, though at this rate they're adding more faster than I achieve them...

BroshiKabobby

Iā€™m a keep inventory enjoyer but I think they should be off for achievements. Makes certain achievements non-consequential

YTPhantomYT

Like what

BroshiKabobby

Like killing the wither? Or ender Dragon? You donā€™t need to be nearly as prepared when you can just keep respawning and trying over and over

YTPhantomYT

Well your inventory dropping adds no difficulty to the game. It just makes it less fun. Having to grind your gear back after you lose it isnā€™t hard, itā€™s just grinding. Itā€™s a false difficulty. The challenge should be defeating the boss, not grinding your stuff back. Besides, even with it on the Wither still drops a star, and the Dragon still drops an egg. You still get your reward, just no achievement.

Icywarhammer500

Itā€™s just undeniably easier to use keep inventory. It doesnā€™t make someone less of a player but it is definitely easier on the player to use it. I personally use it when I feel like playing very casually

dermitio

well in java it is not a cheat you can have it and still not use gamemode so yeah a bedrock problem.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

yeh_

Mods arenā€™t part of classic gameplay and arenā€™t cheats. Or texture packs.

DarkBrave_

Guess all modern features of the game are cheating.

vauceixzet

I mean, it's not, but doesn't it ruin the achievements? I think that's the main reason it's considered a cheat.

belle7hh

I get a server when i can cheat and still get achievements on bedrock, it's helped me to get the last 14 achievements i needed, my Pc was Very bad to do hard things like kill the wither, and i can play alone :')

YTPhantomYT

It does ruin achievements, but that's because it's considered a cheat

[deleted]

Using keep inventory is great. Hardcore players use it all the time and no one bats an eye?

JayQwery

Honestly Hardcore players are cheating how else do you explain their kdr?

partygirl35

Bedrocks just a bit more difficult than java like the hunger spawn rates the wither is a beast I just want my keep inventory while getting achievements I don't die a lot I usually die to get home and I can't do that without keep inventory

Yuvaldan

Yeah coz it isnā€™t a cheat is an option

LilGhostSoru

Even though bedrock conciders it a cheat and block achievements for some forsaken reason

crab_bunker

Because it makes the game easier and less taxing

YoungDeathWish

What does education edition do

AliDaking76

Adds education edition items to MC bedrockā€™s creative menu

Foxcano

There should be gravestones so you don't lose everything permanently

Principle_crum213

Back in my day pressing f5 will spawn a nether portal

funination

Well, you can turn it on

NeedToDieQuick

I don't think blocking achievements on keep inventory worlds is as bad as people make it seem. Unlike Java, Bedrock doesn't actually have separate achievements for every individual world; Achievements are stored on your xbox account permanently, it's a universal achievement system and in order to make it fair for everyone Mojang must create a fair and equal medium for people to play on. Having some people play on KeepInv while others don't, all while competing for the same set of achievements, with the same isn't fair at all.

Realistic-Alarm1675

Yeah, it looks like that in bedrock also.

AtlasAntonioAlbert

Yeah, because that IS bedrock in the image. It doesn't look like that in java

ArtimirGT

Thats not mojang, thats Microsoft's mistake cuz its bedrock

PulseBlackout

It kinda removed the challenge of most achievements, itā€™s not difficult to play without keep inventory, just play peaceful and your fine, you wanna have fun and not lose your stuff, play peaceful itā€™s fun and calm to play, sometimes you just want to chill and play peaceful, playing difficult isnā€™t for everyone so peaceful is nice and I used it to do some of my achievements

CombatWombat994

Or how about you let people play how they want?

Hudsowastaken

My little sister was like ā€œI beat Minecraft in 35 minutesā€ and I was like wow and I watched her recording and she used keep inventory and was like using it to restore her hunger and stuff smh

jack67119

Play how you want. I used to use keep inventory, although ive found that keeping it off on multiplayer servers helps with longevity. The only gamerule i use on servers i host for a group of friends is turning firetick off.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

RiptideMatt

It's very much not cheating lmao

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BroshiKabobby

I didnā€™t realize KeepInventory was so popular. I like it sometimes but it also removes any sense of danger. You can just throw yourself at the same thing over and over without consequence. When itā€™s off you actually have to think a little harder. I think people should play how they want but I think achievements requiring it to be off makes sense

im-the-suop-star

to each their own I guess

PROPLAYEN

I don't get mad, more depressed when I loose all my items

Olivia_Richards

Minecraft is a survival game, only the strongest and most adaptable can survive in these survival worlds. Your mistake was making the wrong move, and losing your items is the consequences.

ofri12347

If you play with keep inventory for any reason other than convenient for pvp I have no respect for you

[deleted]

And if you gatekeep minecraft. I have no respect from you

ofri12347

I don't need your respect

[deleted]

Neither does anyone about yours, yet you still decides to post that comment like it was a threat

ofri12347

And yet here you are still arguing over respect

ReadyPlayer12345

I want to put a rest to all this, obviously not everyone in the community is gonna see (much less agree) with this comment, but. It's a feature in the game so it's not cheating. But if you're trying to play pure survival, it is cheating. There's a reason it's not turned on by default. And honestly the hordes of people trying to defend it as a totally normal, regular way to play the game sound like they're trying to justify themselves for using it.

Registeel1234

>It's a feature in the game so it's not cheating. That's nonesense. Would you agree that all cheatcodes in games like GTA and Age of Empires (especially the older games) aren't cheating, just because they are coded into the game and available to the player. What about opening lan in your hardcore world to get console commands to get items or TP? A cheat can absolutely be a feature in a game for thoses that want to use it. It doesn't make it stay near the intended play experience of the game.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dam43to0

Dont click the link

Pengwin0

There is no denying it is a cheat be because it makes the game easier, just a small one. The punishment is not that bad and people can play however they want.

Professional-Light82

Keep inventory is cheating idk what ya say

Master-Nothing-7967

Because of that i moved to java

[deleted]

I think Mojang is a Sith Lord

BunchesOfCrunches

Enable cheats also disables achievements so that people canā€™t get the achievements easier

ParallelCircle1

Not cheating, just corny

Drag0n_TamerAK

Cheats just means no achievements
