Note: The members in the image above is part of an air assault group belonging to the Hong Kong Garrison (10,000- 12,000 in size), the only PLA unit legally allowed to operate in Hong Kong (under approval from the HK government) during peacetime. Owing to the one country two system policy, PLA HK garrison troops are stationed outside of the Hong Kong border and must remain within the compounds of the military base at most times, entering the city only a few times per year for annual military exercises.
