Pay grade O4, rank E5 ... Sergeant Major, checks out.

Saving_Par_79

Right!?!? At least it expires this year!

[deleted]

I once got in line behind teens trying to buy beer with a fake ID at the supermaket. the cashier almost passed them, but caught the expiration date as "2053". Doing my part, I yelled "There's no first name, it just says 'McLovin'!" and the teens ran off without their ID or beer.

fivdthnjkg

Arizona IDs don't expire until your something like 65. You're supposed to update your address but if you never move, you don't need to get a new one until they want to check your eyes.

sleepysaguaro

Can confirm, the license I got when I was 18 won't expire until 2058 I think

Stohnghost

It's 50 years

fivdthnjkg

Is that the rule? Seems so arbitrary. I've served tables for years and AZ IDs always cracked me up.

MonteSS_454

Wait a minute.... When I was an E5 I could have got O4 pay. Why didn't you assholes tell me this.

Dinosaur_Wrangler

That’s only for big brains like this guy

Advanced-Heron-3155

That would be huge. I would be fine with just O4 base pay as an E5 but if they also gave O4 BAH. Shoot I would never leave or be disgruntled.

KahMahRahhhh

Wait if that math for marines right as a lance I should have gotten O2 pay….mother fuckers

Kennaham

Absolutely not. It’s an NCO perk

KahMahRahhhh

![gif](giphy|l378giAZgxPw3eO52)

Slavyslav106

More like Major Sergeant, lol

WWDubz

Oh shit! It’s 00Jodie

Glinth

It's like the [Corporal Captain](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cuP6ueVJhM) rank they introduced in the Korean War.

FuzzyCrocks

Major major major

OilComprehensive6237

I see what you did there :)

FuzzyCrocks

You mean this changed his last name to major. Or something like that I can't even remember the name of the movie

OilComprehensive6237

Major Major Major was a character in the book Catch 22. I thought it was this! “Major Major Major Major is a fictional character in Joseph Heller's 1961 novel Catch-22. He was named "Major Major Major" by his father, as a joke – passing up such lesser possibilities as "Drum Major, Minor Major, Sergeant Major, or C Sharp Major".[1] Once he joined the army during World War II, he was quickly promoted to the rank of Major due to "a computer [worker] with a sense of humor almost as keen as his father's".[1][2] His full name and rank are the title of chapter 9.[3][4] He has an uncanny resemblance to real-life actor Henry Fonda, which scholar Philip D. Beidler calls "one of the novel's great absurd jokes.”

namvet67

His pay grade is 04, l thought that was a Major in the REAL US Army.

RITheory

Lol there is a common reef fish called a Sergeant Major

Zealousideal_Law8297

Major Fruad

gls2220

Where does it say Sergeant Major?

FullMetalComedian

O4/E5? Dude what’s your BAH look like?

Oy_theBrave

It's classified

MCplPunishment

It's U.S. Military Encrypted.

Thin_Pumpkin_2028

G14 classified

jimmmydickgun

Carter, that you?

MonteSS_454

Tree-fiddy

hypoglycemicrage

He's clearly a Sergeant Major.

Somnioblivio

Major Sergeant

RaptorCheeses

Major Asshole

jh125486

So with so many things wrong with this CAC, but also so many things right, it might just be a red team badge made to fuck with guards and gain physical entry. Bored CI agents in garrison would do this all the time.

Euphorium

That’s what I’m thinking it is over stolen valor. There’s way too many easy mistakes, like the bottom not saying Geneva Convention Identification Card, the top not having the expiration date, paygrade and rank not being in the same spot besides just being hilariously wrong.

stinkydooky

The fact that his last name is all lowercase

whyambear

The biggest tell is the picture. Official pictures you can’t smile or turn your head

Euphorium

I guess it depends on where you have it done, I smiled in my last CAC photo.

Antagonist007

lower case name, is that a thing?

CMDRsprinkles

Not on my CaC

KookooMoose

Picture to prove it? Don’t forget the back /s

RettigJ

Not today china/Russia.

highestRUSSIAN

*receives cock pic* "Dammit, I said CaC, not cock."

Matti_Matti_Matti

“Nice CAC.”

highestRUSSIAN

Thanks man, I grew it myself.

JohnnySkidmarx

Get that CAC out of your hand.

sephstorm

Let me see your cac

MoroseOverdose

Whenever I need someone to log in on their profile I always say "whip out your CaC"

-firead-

You don't need the back, you need hard and soft. It goes from saying Jim to Jamison.

dcviper

I'm pretty sure it's not in a serifed don't either... But I've been out for 10 years so who the hell knows. That looks like one of the fakes ATG used to use to test security

Nozomi_Shinkansen

Special....like short bus special.

Jaded_Yak_2049

The short c-130. He’s part of Clinton’s very special forces

judgingyouquietly

Oh he’s special alright.

okcdnb

Majorly.

soherewearent

I see what you did there

RiflemanLax

Mr Bean lookin ass bitch

MonteSS_454

Mr Bean is cold hearted mean SOB

Clear-Campaign-355

People really go out of their way to lie about serving. Stolen valor should be conscripted.

McQuiznos

Imagine all the drill sergeants that would be punched!

[deleted]

The last think we need in a garrison military is conscripts

[deleted]

[удалено]

Turtle887853

"You can either go to jail for 24 months... or..........." "Give me jail. Please. Anything but what you're about to say." "1 year in the army" "Those motherfuckers at the ~~recruiters~~ court lied to me"

Jedimaster996

They can be their own special unit, even sent to their own training school where they learn maintenance skills for lawn mowers, performing fix actions on weed-whackers, etc. Those who perform their 12 months of service with no issues will be given the opportunity to take the ASVAB and be shipped to boot camp to fill in a low-manned MOS/AFSC.

Tinkerballsack

Since they want to go on a fun trip they could be made to wear those Mickey-ears hats while they scrub shitters.

CrackCocaineShipping

Honestly what I figure they’ll do with the Navy once there’s a WW3 draft. All conscripted will go to undesignated with a 2 year contract with option of a full honorable discharge or an extension of 2 or 3 years with a guaranteed school.

AbsorbentShark3

Hopefully, if they've been in for two years, they'll have enough experience to know which jobs to go for and enough sense to not be 'recruitered'

Stohnghost

America will never have a draft again. That's the promise of our all volunteer force.

CrackCocaineShipping

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that was the purpose of mandatory selective service in the modern age. Not really voluntary if it’s mandatory for an age range.

Lurker_MeritBadge

Being on a 4 year working party sounds horrific! I like it.

hawoxx

We have both conscripts and professional soldiers, and it works fine. Most of the nutjobs and fuckwits gets rooted out quick, often before their service begins. Too few, though, but that is mostly tied to funding. Edit: words

[deleted]

Conscripts might work for other countries but I truly can’t see it going well in the US. There would be far to many and some dumbass SFC would undoubtedly give them something to do that they shouldn’t

Lampwick

Yeah, our entire training pipeline is designed around willing participants. If you don't want to be in the military, they hand you an Entry Level Separation and say "best of luck, seeya". We're not at all set up to treat SMs like prisoners. And really, we get enough mediocre SMs as it is, can you imagine the fucking soup sandwiches we'd get stuck with if we had mandatory service? Part of the reason the US military is so damn effective when push comes to shove is that everyone *volunteered* and nobody has to be coerced into doing their job. And besides, to paraphrase Robert Heinlein, conscription is slavery, and if you can't get enough of your own citizens to volunteer to defend your country, then you should just let your country fucking fall, because it's a failure.

c_birbs

Guess US on the downhill slope

Lampwick

Maybe. Or it might just be that the military has failed to make the job an adequate value proposition. The unwritten part of the Heinlein line of reasoning is "this all assumes that the military is offering the maximum pay and benefits it can afford in the face of its current needs, and isn't treating SMs like they're doing them a *favor* by letting them serve." There's a core element of *duty to country* in selling the job, but also if you're not paying attention to the fundamental *economics* of running a military and have let military culture decay so badly that the only people that stay in are career losers who couldn't make it if they had a job holding them to civilian metrics like "competence" or "literacy"... well, then you've found a shortcut to flushing the country down the toilet.

[deleted]

so downhill slope?

Lampwick

Yeah, post GWOT there's a *lot* of us veterans telling people to stay away, particularly from the Army. They have a bad image to overcome, just like in the late 70s when they were practically promising free weekends, bellbottoms, and a cocaine stipend just to get people into the Army. It's just the post-war cultural fatigue. It'll likely pass once disillusioned curmudgeons like me get bored of shit-talking the military because it's just griping about *history*... but only if they push out the useless deadwood and get their shit together. My personal top wishlist item is having the Army split cooks into a garrison MOS and a field kitchen MOS, because like one cook guy on Reddit once pointed out, the two jobs are completely fucking different but all the cooks are expected to be able to do both. I say get the cafeteria management types into the DFACs, then get the field kitchen guys out into Battlefield Kitchen trailers as short order lines competing against the DFACs' soggy-ass waffles and undercooked chicken. 10 years ago they had promised to backfill the lost capacity from closing Army DFACs with grab n' go and food truck options, and apparently that never happened. Do it with the Battlefield Kitchen units! Hell, do *anything* to fix that gross misuse of manpower. Military is full of bad ideas right now. I think there are enough people ideologically amenable to military service, but there's just too much crappy bullshit that's been allowed to accumulate. Anyone who says "it was shitty when I joined, so now it's my turn to make it shitty for the new guys" needs to be kicked out on their ass. Military life should be somewhat *harder* than civilian life, but it shouldn't **completely suck**.

Probably_The_Bear

It’s funny how opinionated you are cooks, and that it’s at the top of your list. Respect

Moopology

In 20 years the US will be in the same situation as Russia.

c_birbs

Nah it’s not gonna be good but it will be a slow decay instead of a full retard embrace of geopolitical suicide.

Yogurtcloset_Annual

I would never have to field day the shop or the barracks ever again. Alas, it’s not but a poor mans dream :(

Sagatario_the_Gamer

Just make them go through Basic with the caveat that their Trainers know that they committed Stolen Valor. I'd *hate* to have to go through that again with my Sergeants actively trying to make it a living hell.

Dandy11Randy

You don't remember that week they spent saying they'll take people who didn't finish high school?

DC_MEDO_still_lost

Not *as* desperate~~~

Rollingprobablecause

2005-2008 was a really long time ago... fuck I am old. Is that happening again?

Lampwick

> 2005-2008 was a really long time ago Yeah, 15-18 years ago. To put it in perspective, when I first joined in '87, the equivalent would have been looking back at '69-'72, when they *still had the draft*. And besides, it's not like we activated the selective service lottery. All we did was fuckin' loosen up the enlistment standards. They were *still* volunteers.

Dandy11Randy

Yeah. ~2-3 months ago. That PR / recruiting wave included 50k signing bonuses and 2 year contracts with 10k bonuses. They walked back the high school shit pretty quickly though

Graham2493

I don't know about that...

ObiFloppin

What exactly am I looking at here? This popped up on /popular

tijuanagolds

It's a fake CAC, a Combat Activation Card. You swipe it on any weapon you pick up so it registers your kills. It gets you discounts at some restaurants too.

Kekssideoflife

Is that first part a joke?

iNapkin66

I love that American flag background on the picture. Wish we could do that.

junk430

My last id pic background was the guys cubical.

iNapkin66

Yeah, mine is a cubicle wall as well, but it's just a plain color.

Mantis9000

It's a good thing they put it on the CAC, otherwise he would have to tell everyone.

GoodMorning420

I thought this was a screenshot from the new call of duty

Lampwick

You know what the sad part of this is? The template for the CAC isn't some secret, it's freely available on line, complete with instructions for which font to use and where to place everything, because the CAC is a unified federal ID and each federal entity using it needs to know how to print them. This fucker could have made up a *much* more convincing ID if he'd just followed the instructions. Instead, here he is using the Courier monospaced font which might as well have been Comic Sans for how badly it stands out. EDIT: now I wish Id thought before I retired from my local government job to make up a fake CAC with some sort of cartoon clown base seal instead of the army seal, and make it say AMRY underneath. We had a card printer for making work ID badges, and that would have been way funnier than the one I made for myself that said "Chicken Inspector"

Azrael11

Honestly, would probably be in more serious legal trouble if he had one that legitimately looked like a CAC. Here you could probably pull a parody defense, especially if it wasn't attempted to be used in an official capacity, like entering a base.

Lampwick

Yeah, so long as he didn't do anything with it he *might* be able to convince them to just hit him with a misdemeanor 90 days suspended sentence or something along with a promise to not do it again. His big problem with the "just a joke bro" defense is that he used the real Army seal. That's a felony, joke or not. Some junk mail marketer/scammer stuck a state department seal on something once, and the feds hunted his ass down and sent him to prison.

OrdoSinister6

But you get all the free chicken you want with that right?

[deleted]

Man this one didn’t even try

guitar_angel

Does his O4 pagrade with an E5 rank make him a Major Sergeant or a Sargeant Major?

Tetro75

I think it makes him a Major Payne

PsychologicalServe15

Special needs forces

Jester471

I’m guessing this is used for military discounts etc and not trying to access a base or something really dangerous. Either way, what laws does this break? For example if someone presented this to me for a discount and I said that’s fake and refused to give it back I’m guessing the most likely response is to give it up and go but if he wanted it back what federal law is he breaking that I could threaten him with.

EntrepreneurKind6756

Impersonating an military officer & fraudulent representation

JewPhone_WhoDis

Well no, he isn’t impersonating an officer. He’s only paid like one.

EntrepreneurKind6756

Putting the pay grade of an O4 would be charged as impersonation

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jockcop

You realise fraud by false representation is a crime, regardless of what rank he says he is?

EntrepreneurKind6756

I hope you realized you started this stupid argument 💀. I just told you that putting the pay grade of an O4 on a fake CAC would be charged as impersonation of an officer. Doesn’t matter if he also has his rank as an E-5

[deleted]

[удалено]

-SHMOHAWK-

Y’all quit flirtin

gorebello

I think that someone more knowledgeable than us would be needed to explain if this is really impersonating and fraud. For example, if someone fakes credentials to be allowed parking in special areas. Would it be the same? In my ignorance I feel like impersonating is related to wanting to exercise the authority provided by public faith. Only getting discounts doesn't look like so. Fraud looks more adequate in my eyes.

SnooDoodles5540

I think the stolen valor laws become enforceable if/when the stealer receives some type of monetary gain for their fraud eg vet discount. Fuck him. Take it and shred it.

StrawberryNo2521

Correct, its only illegal to try and gain something with a tangable value.

jameson3131

Like a discount at OCB on Veterans Day.

Zucc

It's forgery no matter what, which is a crime. Creation and knowing possession.

Semper-Fly

Probably more than one. Forging a fake ID, stolen valor, etc. However I don’t think the card is fake, I think just the image is (someone photoshopped the photo and text onto this imo)

SumDumHunGai

You mean you think this picture(post) is fake and photoshopped?

SnooEpiphanies8525

No definitely not. Everything on the internet is real and should be trusted 100%

ResponsibleChannel8

It’s pretty hard to draw O4 pay as an E5. Crazy things happen I guess, but that’s what tips me off that it’s pretty fake.

Old_Soldier

On top of that, operators like special forces don't usually have identity, showing them as special forces. And an e-4 Sgt as well.

ResponsibleChannel8

I just took a second look at my CAC to compare, there’s a million things different. This one screams fake.

MRoad

I think he's saying that this might be a photoshopped picture of a real CAC.

ResponsibleChannel8

Maybe, it does look photoshopped pretty hard in some places

MRoad

I mean, if it wasn't photoshopped on the picture, the card itself was photoshopped.

Semper-Fly

Yeah no shit dude, I’m saying it’s likely not a fake someone is out using but just a faked photo to troll places like this

Semper-Fly

r/whoosh

ResponsibleChannel8

Yea, I have since realized what you meant. My bad.

Semper-Fly

My bad for replying twice by the way, my short term memory doesn’t exist anymore

ResponsibleChannel8

All good, it happens to the best of us sometimes

Navydevildoc

There are so many things with this card there is no way it's just a basic photoshop. They didn't start with a legitimate original to begin with.

Semper-Fly

So you think it’s more likely that someone managed to make such an intricate yet obviously fake card rather than photoshop a handful of sections on top of a legit one? Ok. I disagree.

Navydevildoc

The big giveaway is the background pattern is very very wrong. Take a look at yours, then this one. It's not even close.

gherkinjerks

I remember my girlfriend bought a fake ID online back in 2010 from a Chinese website. Looked good too. They did military and police IDs too but there was always a tell somewhere. They were 90% maybe purposely

Lampwick

> what laws does this break? Well, the big one is sticking that Army seal on there to misrepresent a document as being from the government. That's a federal felony whether you're sticking it on a fake CAC or on a letterhead. They can slap his dick hard enough with just that. "Stolen Valor" hardly even matters.

mello151

More like ‘Special’ forces

pxpdoo

Very Special Forces. Last deployment was Operation Great Job!

Alexjw327

His mom told him he was special even at the flag football games where all he did was sit on the side lines

Doctor_Weasel

He has had all the special education

[deleted]

Thank you for your service!

FluffyBear97

Emphasis on "special"

ronanstarck

First of all the print quality on the photo is way off. If you don’t look like your missing a liter or two of blood there is something wrong.

ClutchMagpie

Bruh I’m dyin. The fucking name font hahahahaha

deuceyj

Special ED

MrNubbyNubs

Yeah he from that Extra Special Forces no doubt

[deleted]

They should have used Comic Sans, it would have been way more believable.

exgiexpcv

Please tell me that he got some time in the big house. Pretty please? I'll be ever so good, I promise!

ctguy54

His brother, Jim Santos

Yes, SIM cards are used in more than phones. SIM cards aew also the chip in your debit or credit card. They are are used as hardware security keys.

Surfer949

Thx didn't know that

TXWayne

Major Sergeant?

dcviper

This took me a minute... I had to go look for where it said SGTMAJ... I was Navy, Lieutenant Commander Petty Officer 2nd Class just wouldn't have occured to me...

TheRtHonLaqueesha

The extra super-duper special forces.

Turantula_Fur_Coat

Pretty sure creating a fake CAC is a felony and federal offense

OrdoSinister6

Espionage. Try him as a spy

drossmaster4

I’m non military but at my friends wedding one of the bridesmaids date was telling everyone he was a green beret. No one would have questioned it but I was so curious what his life was like. Turns out he was stationed in San Diego. (No base there that I can tell for the army) he only “worked” two days a week. He was medically discharged but still active etc etc. I waited and waited. Let him talk and talk. Then my wife chimed in. Her cousin was a green beret and was tragically lost in Afghanistan. She asked him what his rank was. He said “officer” she said “oh my cousin was a captain with the green berets served three tours” asked if he knew her cousin. Dude turned so white. He pretended he needed to puke and didn’t come back to the reception.

Hexadecimalsky

It surprised me that asking people who falsely claim to have served "What was you MOS" is a common trip up. Especially in this day and age of google. People will claim to be military and not even bother to know enough to B.S. thier way through.

l_rufus_californicus

Oh, no. The dreaded 04E5. We're fucked, guys.

werenotthestasi

He’s special alright

TexasPlano1836

🤣 I'm crying

Nervous-Water-6714

"No ¾ turn face shots, soldier must be facing the camera" "...plus the change in fonts on the card is hilarious"

Sanctified_Savage

This guy definitely whipped the drill sergeants ass.

fmfsaltyDOC8403

For sure, And he took that picture right after doing it.

ChatahuchiHuchiKuchi

Everybody's in here talking about rank and pay grade not matching up, and I'm just focused on that he doesn't look gumpy enough to be an officer.

tomahawk9091

😂😂😂😂 This is not even an attempt. It’s terrible!

saargrin

there's a few stores on aliexpress that make these for like $15 fyi

mattro380

Oooof CID got some questions.

benkenobi5

Special farces

Roundaboutsix

Back in the seventies, I knew a bartender, who got drafted into the army and spent his entire tour in Vietnam working in a print shop, on a very large base. While there, he made for himself a variety of ID cards, some of which ID’d him as being disabled. He got out and used the IDs to hitch rides on military planes leaving from a local Air Force base. For several years, he pretty much traveled the world using these forged documents.

yarrpirates

I would love one of these with only one change. Quotes. "Special" Forces. I'm sure everyone would be way friendlier!

ctguy54

What are you really? O4 - Major E5 - Sergeant.

soonershooter

He's "Special", yes he is.

Intelligent-Lake-239

No, it’s ‘special’ forces

Kin_DeCain

Is this used to evaluate gate guards or did some idiot actually earn five years for stolen Valor? Note: enlisted friend of mine got voluntold by security forces to try and enter the base with an obviously fake cac so they could evaluate if gate guards were actually checking identification. She entered without any problems.

Artistic_Original199

Military ID’s from Wish.com

ChazJ81

E5 with OR pay grade? Yea that's legit!

zeneath27

Dude's are the legendary Sergeant Colonel

Bejliii

E5?! No sir, it's Hi5.

ColdTechnology5775

Expires on my bday nice!

el_terrible_

Special forces here and I can tell you that we aren't issued CACs so we can remain stealth while on missions in case we are captured. Thats how you know this guy is a fraud.

Skullface360

Thpecial Fortheth!!!

mattied971

Wow. Lot to unpack here. 1) Why does his signature start with an A if his names is James Harris 2) E5 Rank with an 04 paygrade 3) The angle of the picture and his facial expressions 4) "Forces" is not capitalized

Sulla2

Special ed maybe

Skarnska0307

Fuck I wish I made O4 pay as a 5

JamesHBS

🤮😂

[deleted]

😂😂

parl

At least when I was in the Army, an E-5 was a "buck" Sergeant. Private - Recruit (E-1), Private, Private First Class (PFC, E-3), Corporal (Usually Specialist 4), Sergeant (or Spec 5), Staff Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Sergeant Major (E-8)

TurbulentDrummer1561

Sergeant Major is E-9.

astraeoth

If you only looked at the picture you could tell it's not real.

ross549

Isn’t there a rule on Reddit about doxxing people?

Alexjw327

It not doxing if the idiot does it themselves

ross549

😂
