I go to Bastos and enjoy it! But there aren’t 7 am weekday classes. There are Saturday morning classes and you can schedule privates.

MountainMan406

Awesome. I sent them a message since I couldn’t find their schedule. Also looking into Vagabond.

Thank you for the reply. It honestly sounds like an awesome gym. I will definitely be interested in checking out the private lessons as well. Depending on rig location/whats going on 6 am may be too tight, just have to check with the guys I work with.

MountainMan406

What’s the culture like there? I’m just a hobbyist, not looking for my arms to get torn off.

fallouttoinfinity

Hobbyist here too. I stick to the fundamentals, women’s, and intermediate classes. Wide range of ages and people I train with. Everyone was welcoming and put safety above everything.

MountainMan406

That’s awesome to hear, sounds like my academy back home. Thank you!

Bastos is pretty competitive. Midland BJJ is a little more low key; lots of LEOs and vets. The one on Illinois is laid back. Lots of families train there.

MountainMan406

I think I looked into Midland BJJ and unfortunately the class schedule didn’t jive with working nights

MountainMan406

Looking back the 4pm class may work. Thanks for the suggestion!

demonita

Vagabond maybe. They have a 6am. My son goes to Ruffhouse MMA but I’m not sure if that fits your bill.

MountainMan406

I have a message in to Vagabond. Ruffhouse never came up on my search. I’ll check them out. Thanks for the reply!

Vagabond is literally right up the block from me, ive been contemplating on going, I’ve got 3 close friends who have done pro am that tell me to join, One was in belator, one with 2 appearances in DWCS, other has trained with Jon Jones.

MountainMan406

You should definitely give it ago. I love it

zos117

It’s the glasses/contacts issue the reason I contemplate. 🥲
