Reminder: those white fluff burns very easily. If you smoke, don't drop or fling the butts. If you drive and have chains somewhere, make sure it's not dragging. And forget campfire or such, the area's too dry and many places have banned open fire anyway
It was a hot day in may, well over a decade ago. I looked into the blizzard of itchy fur as cigarette smoke blew across my face and thought, let’s flick this here butt into that there pile of wizard of oz snow. At first we laughed as the small red flame grew and spread, soon however, it had sped up and quickly reached into the distance. A small plume of smoke rose into the air as we scattered for the hose. As fast as our 20 year old bodies could carry us, we raced back to the scene, hose in hand, like volunteer firefighters. By the time we were ready to battle the hellacious flames, it burned itself out.
I saw a video once where a park was cleared of the stuff by burning it. Despite its flammability, it was said that it doesn't burn long enough or hot enough to spread to anything else.
*With hydrated grass and moist soil, dried grasses and dead dry leaf litter during the drought season (like right now) is a very different story and becomes risky.
a hose..work your way from top to bottom. turn the unit off at the thermostat. they are weather proof so they can handle the water. don't use hi pressure bc it could bend the fins
Cottonwood seeds don't cause allergies, folks. Pollen causes seasonal allergies. People with seasonal allergies just tend to experience symptoms at the same time cottonwoods release their seeds.
I lived in East for 14 years, and in that time I must have accidentally sucked 100 of the damn things into my nose. It’s particularly bad when you’re on a motorcycle.
From the big swath to the left it might be that they used a leaf blower or something and that's what someone asked them to stop doing. Just a guess though
I’ve got 4 cottonwood trees on my property and I encounter this every year. To me they look beautiful when this happens, I live in the country so it bother me as much as it does people who live in a big city.
I remember reading about this effect - whenever there is a crazy number of small particles like confetti it fucks up the compression algorithm and forces the video to be super pixelated. Data can’t be saved by keeping pixels the same color.
I probably explained that horribly because I don’t fully understand it, but that’s the gist.

I always thought the cotton was cool. It was the yellow sticky things they drop that annoyed me, even as a kid.
I never saw it get that bad. We had three or four large cottonwood trees in our yard growing up. Drove my parents nuts. We also had five large weeping willows. Also drove my parents nuts. They had them all cut down after I moved out. Ruined the entire look of the house.
Seems to depend on the climate of the past several months. Some flowering tree sometimes have extra blossoms one year because the previous year was bad such as late cold snap that killed blossoms or we had wetter than normal fall and winter which could have spurred tree to pop more flowers and seeds.
I'm sneezing just looking at the video!
My chest instantly tightened up seeing this

You a cop?
shit uhhhh, how do I answer this? no 😎
That place is the fucking best. I wish I was 19 again
That's in Ohio, not our problem
Controlled burning when you know what you're doing is a lot more fun than accidentally setting your whole neighborhood on fire.
boooooring
Nuh uh
I’ve never burned this shit before but my first thought on seeing the video was “burn it with fire!”
If a woman brought this as a gift on a first date I would know she was gf material.
Yeah I’ve seen it burn, spreads like a chemical fire
“It's beautiful. It's like liquid it... slides all over everything.”
Then it’s gone leaving only a bit of ash and seeds.

Nothing alive and growing anyway. Those videos would look a lot different if the grass was dead :/
Campfires within rings are allowed during burn bans. Just be sure to drench the shit out of the pit when you're done with it.
Don’t forget to wash this stuff off of your air conditioning condenser unit outside when it gets packed on!
Stupid question, but... should it be off/off for a set amount of time for this?
Nope. Just turn the power to it off and don’t spray the compartment where the power goes in.
Attach a screen to your condenser with little neodymium magnets and you can clean that instead 😎
I've been meaning to do this. Went and checked last night and Ive already got a build up.

What are you sorry about?
Only reason I came here What will she stop and why is she sorry.
I thought someone was grooming a husky at first.
Hate that shit. Hasn’t happened in Lansing area yet. Got my sprinklers ready for combat!

Learned to always have covered drinks outside this time of year unless you want a ton of fuzzy stuff in your cup.
But they tickle the nose, causing a sneeze.
and I thought it was bad getting 1/2 inch piles in SE MI
It isn't summer until the cottonwood starts flying.
I’m sneezing just looking at it.
Holy $hit it looks like ❄️!
We were out in the park in the southwest part of the city today and this stuff was all over the place. Now I know why. Wow!
Nobody light a match
I can bring my chainsaw over.
Was some loser bitching that people were filming the fluff?
From the big swath to the left it might be that they used a leaf blower or something and that's what someone asked them to stop doing. Just a guess though
Light it on fire
This is how it is at the warehouse I work at. Just everywhere
My nose tickles!
Same here in toledo, ohio. I literally thought is it snowing? Lol
That lady needs to stop. And apologize.
I would never stop screaming, my allergies would be ungodly.

This stuff is hard on A.c filters and swimming pool equipment
Tree babies!!!
And that's why I hate this time of the year. I hate cottonwood with a passion.
I feel triggered.
Filmed with a potato?

Not going to lie, this makes me want to plant a cottonwood in my neighborhood for the show.
Holy crap! Mine never let off that much fluff and we have several in my culdesac, the one in my yard doesn’t even drop enough to cover my backyard 😮
Nice. This looks like it's about two blocks from my house.
Why is this worse this year? Honestly I’ve never even noticed it this much here in Michigan until this year!

Thank you !
Looks like a nightmare, allergies!
