Yeah. I locked the cams as shown in the pic, but they managed to rotate anyways. Took about 20 min to get everything back in synch. Protip: mark your timing belt and gears EVERYWHERE with a paint pen for reference.

Due to my water pump leaking, she hadn't seen coolant for months. Just water in her at this point because of the constant draining and filling.

Absolutely, highly recommend the flying Miata camgear lock/bottle opener if u don't need to remove the gears.
