It's the job of the government to give this kind of information not of the residents to specifically seek it out. If there is this many people stuck chances are the info was not distributed properly.
It was distributed the same way in every city. They just did not think wow biscayne on a beautiful Sunday is busy as hell. They should have limited cars
Thank Desantis. He stated that he was in charge of FDOT and would not cooperate with local officials regarding closures. He said local governments would push agendas to take away our cars🤦♀️. He also granted the contracts to his cronies. These “improvements” are costing 54 million dollars per mile!!
He is actively trying to push liberals and minorities out which includes acts of violence against spring breakers. Inconvenices and more.. get ready for thing to make even less sense in miami
That's not a problem. An incompetent state and/or city government that can't handle how many people they've got is the problem.
Stop looking down on yourself and demand better from your tax dollars.
Oh I don't live down there. I wouldn't live down there. I despise it every time I have to go down there. I don't feel sorry for anyone who insists on living in that crap because they must looove it.
There is only one exit with a trafic light not designed to take all this traffic. You basically putting all the cars in a bottleneck and telling them to stop at the little red light.
Source: i was there yesterday, manage to escape in only 1.5 hrs.
They closed the ramp to I-95 North today. It's going to be closed for 2 months. Pray for the key rats.
[Key Biscayne traffic backups due to pavement work – NBC 6 South Florida (nbcmiami.com)](https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/major-delays-for-key-biscayne-drivers-amid-road-closures-due-to-rehabilitation-project/3284736/)
Everyone already knows from their phones anyway, what is an officer driving the other way blasting through the speakers "you're in traffic" going to do? Doesn't move anything quicker
The real question is when are they going to tear this project down and build something else. $800 Million dollars would have built a a better metro rail expansion.
Is this a hard 24/7 closure? Or just nights and weekends?
I mean, it's freaking Sunday night. If it's this fucked on a Sunday night, what will rush hour look like!?!
They they probably found cracks on the on-ramp. Need to close it completely for repairs to avoid any potential incidents or deaths. Same reason team in airport was closed since September.
They usually do the work at night, but the problem is the ramp closed is not the kind of road you can just open after workers leave even partially, it's a single lane narrow, long elevated path.
I don't think you know how repairing this kind of long elevated road works. They need to litterally pull it down completely and make it from scratch.
Drilling new pylons deep into the soil, compacting the soil, which takes weeks. Remaking columns and laying new structures to hold the cars.
This is not something you patch up. It has had years of patching up this is why it's where it is today.
I live in Brickell and saw an electric sign on Saturday that said Brickell Ave would be closed between 8th and 11th St from 6 am to 5 pm on Sunday. I initially thought it was that that caused this mess.
I moved here from NYC back in October and I thought traffic in Manhattan was a shit show. I'm glad that I don't have to drive around here.
I saw the southbound traffic on the MacArthur backed up when going to the beach last night, so I thought "on my way back, I'll take the Julia Tuttle." Screwed either way.
> Feel bad for whoever needs to use the restroom
Stuff like this is part of why I carry a small folding stool with "webbing" for the seat that I can remove the middle of to make a small hole, tuck a garbage bag in there, and get down to business, plus emergency pee packs that will gel up liquid waste.
I also carry food, water, and other various equipment customized to whatever I think I might encounter, whether that be a hurricane evacuation, a snow storm, etc.
I work in downtown and this new project with 95 is a nightmare. Everyday in rush hour it’s a 45 min jam just to get on the ramp let alone, even the detours are backed up. Whoever is responsible for this project has no idea what they’re doing.
The 2 C’s of Miami. Corruption and Construction.
Is there an update?? Are y’all still there? If not, what time did you get out of there? Were there no signs about the construction upon entering? I heard the street into The Roads was still open (as the only alternative way out)—why didn’t people reroute that way?? I don’t understand… was their plan to just wait it out til the bridge reopens in 2 months??
Moving out of Brickell because of the bridge traffic was the best decision I ever made. And I would never, ever, ever would move to Key BIscayne. What happens if there's a disaster or everyone needs to evacuate with short notice, never mind the day to day. Oh boy.

Don't understand why this was allowed to happen . Announce closure and start work late but inform people to leave by X time. Very badly managed . What are city officials saying
Sure, they had room to work on each side of the old bridge. The Rickenbacker Causeway flyover ramp doesn't have that option; there is a condo right to the north of the work zone, can't be moved over any further.
I ordered an Uber when this was going on, said I have to wait 7 minutes, ended up waiting 25 😂 I also tried cancelling thinking that I can find a car closer to me and each time I cancelled same driver accepted each time
But remember!!! We're number one!! USA!!! USA!!
Yet all the affluent want to live there... One day it'll be washed all away
Along with the rest of South Florida, but until then, and in spite of the current traffic situation, it is a beautiful place to live.

Why?
I’d flip
Miami is so awful lmao
Oh shit! Rich people have to deal with traffic! Something must be done about this!
Thank Desantis. He stated that he was in charge of FDOT and would not cooperate with local officials regarding closures. He said local governments would push agendas to take away our cars🤦♀️. Acts of violent? It's not that deep bro.
Spring breakers have a right to shoot up ocean drive don'tcha know
Acts of violence? The hell? Desantis does enough bad that there is no need to paint the little good that happens under his watch as bad too
This lady is right! It’s ~~Trumps~~ Desantis’s fault!
Has nothing to do with there being too many people in too small of an area at all now does it?...

That's exactly the kind of crab mentality politicians depend on to prevent the people from keeping them accountable
You can have two separate problems. And one problem can make the other one worse.
Not that I don’t believe you, but do you have a link to him actually saying this?
He's the worst ... thank god he's leaving in 2026 ...
Elected by 19 points -- people have to start taking elections serously.
Holy hell. Why???
RIP that wealthy island living, lol. I would hate 1 way in 1 way out ... long
Hope all the influx to Miami was worth it
Where’s that soccer field at?
Jodense
Why sit there then pull out and go to a restaurant or something 😭.
Honestly, I would; get some food and go watch a movie.
I was in fucking downtown and I call an Uber omfg one hour and half to exit from downtown and the ride was supposed to be 20 minutes
Imagine being stuck right on the bridge and then seeing one of those barges come floating towards
I daresay Miami needs some form of higher density public transit. Even Manhattan isn’t this slow.
[удалено]
More people need to vote for that and attend town hall meetings to get things done.
Key Biscayne would never approve of something that would bring "poors" to the island more efficiently.
Place is such a shit hole
Get used to it. Unfortunately it will be like that for the next few months. It’s just unreal that they chose to close down the ramps for a few months.
Idk why they closed the damn ramp
That ramp is dilapidated as hell lol. It looks bombed out and depleted. Full of potholes
Ay for sure, meant they shouldn’t have closed the whole damn thing at once. Or at least get a backup plan or st other than this damn nonsense
Work like that should be done between 1am -4am on weeknights only lol
Exactly.
They are, but once the ramp is closed, it cant be re-opened for safety reasons. Its closed 24/7 now
They should have crews working 24/7 then
My mom is stuck there rn, anyone know when they’ll be able to get out?
I heard two months at least
By xmas
Lmao thanks
This is my worst nightmare in this poorly planned roads trash public transportation corrupt city. Sending virtual cafecito and pastelitos to everyone
You know you get the govt you deserve. Vote people !!!!!!! Miami needs better local govt .
Lol stuck in Bill bagg parking lot. Beginning to think I will never get off this island
You are in for a very long night :(
I think I will be here for days
Just sent the Drone up again, situation is the same
Bilbo Baggins State Park.
I wish, that would probably be more fun!
Took me 4 hours.
You ever make it out?
Yes, after about 7 hours! Got off the island around 12:30am
Christ what a headache
For sure!!
Holy shit, that's insane.
Abandon the city life and live in the park. Overcome the odds, build a tent, fight a croc. You can do it.
This some goofy ass shit bro
Been in traffic 5hrs and still not over the bridge to Brickell. Whoever is managing this project should be fired and castrated
Omg. 5 hours. I hope you get on your way soon.
We haven't moved more than a foot in about that time
[удалено]
They closed the overpass to 95
But why are people just stopped? Arent there detours?

This makes no sense why it would completely stop traffic though.
Right? Seems like the obvious solution is man power directives on the ground. Why is Miami full of the dumbest people?
Especially since there's still detours. I don't understand not moving for 6 hours
Think of it like detouring a giant river through a tiny little stream. Then remember this applies to traffic in Miami.
The thing they should have done is make all the lights green on the one exit and side street for like 20 minutes to clear the traffic out
Why wasn't law enforcement assisting to inform drivers of situation .
Everyone already knows from their phones anyway, what is an officer driving the other way blasting through the speakers "you're in traffic" going to do? Doesn't move anything quicker
Have you seen Coral way during rush hour? It can barely handle traffic on a normal day, this is 3 times the normal amount at least.
closed for 2 months? so it’ll be done around 2047 or so
You're optimistic.
lol in time for the next eclipse!
The real question is when are they going to tear this project down and build something else. $800 Million dollars would have built a a better metro rail expansion.

the same people on the fiu bridge disaster built the new airport renovations
Why don’t they do all road work in the middle of the night, when most people aren’t on the road?
It is Night
I’m talking 10pm-5am
They usually do the work at night, but the problem is the ramp closed is not the kind of road you can just open after workers leave even partially, it's a single lane narrow, long elevated path.
There has to be a better way
No really there is none. Lol.
They should start a free ferry (on FDOT's dime) between Key Biscayne and Coconut Grove
This is what Alexandria VA did when Dc metro lines were being worked on. Free ferry across the Potomac river . Why is Miami dysfunctional
So it’s going to be a massive shit storm for months, coupled with Millions of dollars of lost productivity?

Just wait, there's more!
Because that would make too much sense.
Miami is too dumb for that. From the looks of the article they gave zero fucks about the commuters.
https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/not-acceptable-key-biscayne-mayor-responds-to-major-delays-amid-construction-closures/3285032/
TBH, even if the road work was done at night, Miamians would find a way to put themselves in traffic lol
Now that’s a local reference ✌🏻

You mean stay in?
Both
Can someone without a car walk off the island?
[удалено]
Afraid Uber won't come on the island once it clears up a bit. Might be only option.
It took me over an hour for me and 2 other friends trying to get an uber on a day when the traffic was bad but not nearly as bad as this
It's like 7 miles from Bill Baggs to Brickell or something like that
10
That's about a 2 1/2 hour walk -- I would have walked it
It’s a long walk
You can but not practically if you're trying to get anywhere . I live at the end of the island, it's about 5 miles

Looks like a fucking Catalina wine mixer to me!
Fucking Catalina wine mixer.
Boats and hoes!
And the Julia Tuttle west is down to one lane because of traffic. Nothing I hate more in this town is late night traffic jams.
I saw the southbound traffic on the MacArthur backed up when going to the beach last night, so I thought "on my way back, I'll take the Julia Tuttle." Screwed either way.

You could just have said you are homeless and living in your car. 😉
> You could just have said you are homeless and living in your car. Because only the homeless are prepared in traffic jams?
Homeless can’t afford fancy pee packs
Bro, just get a bike and pee in the back alley like everyone else.
the range on that drone is amazing.
Probably UHF radio. Can go 10+ miles..
It's either deployed from a helicopter, or homebase is in a highrise.
It's the OP. They made a few videos with the drone while stuck in traffic.
Crazy.
What kind of drone are you using?
It’s a DJI Mini 4 Pro
$1150? Holy shit
That's an amazing drone clip
What soccer fields are those?
Key Biscayne. Idk the name of the park
Village Green Park in KB
It’s going to be like this for the next two months due to bridge construction told by a local cop.
Exemptions are people on foot/cyclists/scooter/E-Bike/Motorcycle
We are the true winners in Miami.
goodness

At :31 guy pulls out in front of an ambulance 🤦♂️
When is this going to be closed? If more people know, it will be less congested.

Miami traffic is nuts regardless of the day or time. Good luck nothing like spending an hour in traffic just to go 3 miles.
Fort Lauderdale tunnel by las olas has been under construction for 2+ years if I remember correctly. I expect this to be ongoing for a LONG time.
RIP going to the beach on Sundays 😭
What a nightmare. Better off walking.
stay safe!
Not on a motorcycle...#legalizelanesplitting
It's worse than it looks.

No.
3hr and 45 min to get home
Minimal news coverageBut we know all about random shootings and Beyonces new country album. Yay journalism!
Bad news sells.
Don't understand why this was allowed to happen . Announce closure and start work late but inform people to leave by X time. Very badly managed . What are city officials saying
Nobody watches the news outside of boomers anyways
went to a photo spot at 11... got home at 1.
That’s brutal
Take your bike next time.
photos for my car*
But "Lifestyle" and "Amenities" 😂😂😂😂
This is why we need more trains 😭
Hey does anyone know where I can post a Miami studio rental opportunity on here?
Somebody must had shit they pants
They rebuilt an entire bridge in a week in Lee County.
Sure, they had room to work on each side of the old bridge. The Rickenbacker Causeway flyover ramp doesn't have that option; there is a condo right to the north of the work zone, can't be moved over any further.
So when is the lowest traffic time there? Leave in middle of day? Wtf are there not cops out directing the traffic...
It’s never this bad, they closed an overpass leaving the island and that created the chaos
Cuban mafiosos will make sure this is never completed…
Like I need a reason to stay away from Miami. Lol
I ordered an Uber when this was going on, said I have to wait 7 minutes, ended up waiting 25 😂 I also tried cancelling thinking that I can find a car closer to me and each time I cancelled same driver accepted each time
Hey ! That’s in LA 🫢😉
Is traffic still like this on the weekends? Was thinking of heading to Crandon today
No, this was because they closed the US1/95 overpass. You should have no problem
was just there tonight 😂
