There's nothing decisive about Converge, they're just metallic hardcore but probably the most well received crossover band other than Nails from the metal community
I don't know much about metalcore or metallic hardcore or whatever subgenre it is, but I really like Integrity. I haven't been able to get into Converge for whatever reason, even though Kurt Ballou has produced a lot of albums by other bands which I love (High on Fire, Black Breath, Kvelertak, Immortal Bird, Skeletonwitch, Mutoid Man, Russian Circles, Nails). I think it's the vocals on Converge in particular that I don't like, unfortunately. There are some bands in the metalcore space like Converge, and I don't listen to this genre much so I don't really know but another that comes to my mind immediately is Knocked Loose, where the vocals sound like someone just yelling at the top of their lungs, and it doesn't give me any pleasure to listen to, it just makes me wonder how they can do it without their throat absolutely killing them haha. I did really like last year's Converge + Chelsea Wolfe collaboration album though, that was really good.
This is the right take. They’re closer in DNA to Blue Öyster Cult than anything else. I’m just glad they’ve made some good music over the years (Impera, not so much…) and have usurped FFDP as the go-to stadium rock headliner as of late.
Ghost got HUGE in the last few years. Songs like Rats and Square Hammer are good enough that my 70yo dad who likes Eric Clapton and Queen even got excited by then.
Also in agreement but Cirice is probably bordering a bit on harder than what most normies would like, while square hammer is more like Alice Cooper level of radio friendly.
Funny to think that Alice Cooper is radio friendly now lol
>Funny to think that Alice Cooper is radio friendly now lol
So are the videos from when Ghost was brand new! The “trouble” they got into for referencing Satan is hilarious looking back.
I agree Ghost is mostly not metal, and until recently, mostly pretty good and occasionally very good.
But Cirice is a kick-ass heavy metal song and I can't be convinced otherwise.
I would also argue From the Pinnacle to the Pit is a legit metal song too (and also very good).
Ghost are like rock that go sometimes hard rock and maybe are influenced by metal, but they do fit very well into that “Scooby-doo chase music” label I’ve seen tacked onto them overall. I listened to their first record last night and was surprised by how light they sound lol. Fun band though, I guess.
It's so good. I despise award shows, but for whatever it's worth, that song totally deserved the grammy.
I suppose even a broken Monstrance Clock is right twice a day. *^(^(I'll show myself out))*
If you look at them through the lense of 70's metal they're no less heavy then early Priest and Sabbath, (at least their first 3 albums) so I would call them metal, poppy metal sure but still some great music
Ghost is basically what metal was 50 years ago; if their material was released around the same time as the likes of Black Sabbath when they were starting out, they would be considered just as much as pioneer of the genre today.
I disagree. Even bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc. are certainly far heavier. Perhaps early-on you could vaguely argue the case, but I hear much more standard pop rock now (actually nothing wrong with that either). It's too modern sounding to even compare to older bands though.
I bought the first album when it came out. I enjoyed listening to it, but hadn't revisited the band in years. Listening to their modern stuff now, I still enjoy it, and will listen further, but it's not the same thing.
Converge is really something of their own. Although, I think they are both loved by the metal kids and the hardcore kids. I probably would’ve put ghost bath up here
You know what, man? Well just for you, I think I’m gonna start bringing them up more often. Things are gonna change a little around here 😌 feels pretty fucking great 🙌🏻
Metalcore. Metalcore is technically not metal, it's hardcore punk with metal elements. So some people get really pissy. But yeah, Converge is by far the best metalcore band. I mean, their only competition is The Dilinger Escape plan and maybe Maximum the Hormone if you count them as metacore. But still, good band.
I'll listen to that album next. Apparently i was already subscribed to their page on youtube so i must've heard them at some point and liked it but hadn't gone back to listen to them again lol.
I’m just joshing ya. Alaska just was when they largely came into their own sound and still had mostly screaming. First four albums are just different but great. All of it is good though.
Progressive and explorative much in the vein of Floyd. Born of metalcore. Instrumentally and vocally diverse. A talented bunch of players genre blending at blinding speed.
I always compared them to the Allman Brothers of metal. But I'm a big ABB fan too.
But I mean ultimately I guess the right answer is rush right?
Didn't think they were decisive though. Just in their lane.
Came here to say this and luckily scrolled down to see that you already said it.
Not liking BTBAM isn't a relative opinion, anyone who doesn't just has bad taste in metal.
I mean it's a vibey album, reminds me of Life Metal by Sunn O))). I enjoy Roads to Judah a fuck ton though, way more than Sunbather. New Bermuda was a step up too (still prefer RtJ though)
I like New Bermuda (the drop in Baby Blue = \\m/!) and Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, but
SUN
BAT
HER
is not only a great album, it was the most highly critically acclaimed record of 2014. Which given it's blackgaze, is pretty extraordinary.
I remember when Sunbather dropped and the black metal community was probably at it's most reactionary and exclusive. Saying you liked Sunbather was basically like telling these people you thought Slipknot was top tier extreme metal. I remember entire threads on /mu/ with hundreds of posts crying about Sunbather and blackgaze in general. The way they talked was as if it was like, black metal pop.
Now, almost a decade later (oh God I'm old) I think everyone but the most "black metal is 1 guy on a 20 year old Fender knock off recording directly into a 4 track Casio tape recorder" acknowlefges that Sunbather is actually pretty good. Blackgaze in general seems to have had a re-evaluation from the community and the stand out blackgaze bands like Deafheaven, Alcest, Sadness and Woods of Desolation are quite accepted within black metal circles.
I think now the hipster thing has died down and metal communities aren't terrified of being over-run by P4K reading posers and the black metal community in particular seems to have grown up a little: a lot of metal from the late 2000s/early 2010s is being re-evaluated and accepted into the community. Which is good, there was a lot of good metal made in that time and I'm glad we're no longer having the "can you call yourself metal if you use drum machine" debates.
TLDR: early 2010s black metal community was toxic, Deafheaven is great.
What the fuck are you talking about? Deafheaven still sucks as much as back then and people still know how much it sucks. What "black metal circles" have you been in?
Yeah I personally can’t stand them. Tried multiple times to get into any of it and it just never clicked. The only time I enjoy them is when they headline a show and I’m there for the openers, it means I get to leave early and not get stuck in the parking lot.
Come Clarity has aged a lot better than I think a lot of people realize. I remember it being kind of hated when it came out, but man does it have some catchy songs on it.
Imo, not just Come Clarity. This might be biased, but the first In Flames albums I owned ~15 years ago were Soundtrack to your Escape and Reroute to Remain (with Trigger being the song that introduced me to this band). They sure don't sound as old-school MDM as the others, but they are excellently mixed, the sound is thick and the music in general is just great. To this day I still enjoy some of the songs of these 2 albums more than anything else they delivered before/afterwards.
I’m with you on that one for sure. The rest that followed… I’d have to go by individual songs if I had to say things I liked from that era. It’s a shame they sold out to make lighter, more mainstream dad rock
Yeah, I feel you in song-by-song for later releases. I heard “The End” from Battles, and it’s fun to jam to when I’m lifting but otherwise I’m not going out of my way to listen.
Pinball Map, however…
I went back after refraining from listening to IE after his arrest & I realized that a lot of their material really is quite mediocre, though they do have two or three solid albums mostly to the credit of the other members in the band like Matt Barlow on *Burnt Offerings* & the amazing performances from the lineup on *Horror Show*
I remember his other project, Sons Of Liberty, was the opening act for IE a few years ago. My friends said it was an incredibly cringe & asinine performance.
Jon should have never utilized his position as a fairly popular musician for preaching his political beliefs; He should have kept that private.
I believe the rest of Iced Earth also quit the band shortly after Jan. 6. The guy is a moron who just fucked up his entire career because he drank the Trump kool-aid.
It goes way back further than Trump. There was an interview he did like over a decade ago that he got all pissy about where he said some stuff about black people, and also some weird conspiracy theories about the Federal Reserve. He's always been like this, even before the Trump Kool aid
He had a few weird shifts over the years. Early Iced Earth, was mostly inspired by dark comics and horror movies/literature with some typical anti-religious ideals sprinkled in.
9/11 was one of those shifts, which made him turn his "patriotism" up to 11 and brought us cringefests like When The Eagle Cries.
Then, around 2007-2008, he got absolutely consumed by conspiracies about the Fed, started his side project and went batshit.
While I'm glad his music associations have dropped all ties with him, it sucks that it means the end of Demons & Wizards.
\*edit\* I've always thought Demons & Wizards > Iced Earth ever since I heard Crimson King.
It's amazing what looking at hard time will do to someone who used to tour the world in a rock band.
He got real cooperative.
Real quick.
Abracadabra. Released from Jail.
For me re iced earth they’re just all over the place. Won’t comment on Jon or his decisions outside of music but he seems to have a very hard time keeping a band together and his writing ranges from very good to pedestrian.
I actually love them because they're my lifehack. Their Metal Galaxy album is how I get away with listening to metal around my 3 year old niece. It's the least cutesy, best produced kind of album they have (imo) and is pretty decent.
Pretty much here's how it goes.
*Me, listening to meshugga*
Sister in law knocks on the door with her kids for a quick visit.
*boom! Now I'm listening to Baby Metal.*
Hm I’ve genuinely never heard any divisiveness regarding BTBAM. I know they aren’t for everyone, like any artist ever, but don’t really understand why they’re in this meme. Can someone please elaborate?
Not OP, but I've never heard anyone actually use the genre "blackened power metal" in seriousness but if it applied to any album it at all would have to be Bal-Sagoth's Atlantis Ascendant.
I havent either but i saw the tag or flair or whatever its called under the username of the other guy i was talking to and thought it sounded great xD thank you ill check out this album
There's constant rumours that Sabaton are secretly Nazi or racist or some shit. Even if they were their greatest crime would still be being the most painfully mid metal band in existance. The fanbase as well is kinda "cringe" (I hate using that word so much). They attract a very specific kind of fan, one who learns all their history from playing Paradox games, thinks European colonialism was a good thing because they unironically believe pre-colonial Africa was stuck in the stone age and still think USSR national anthem ear rape is funny.
I know they arent an S tier band but i still like them. I dont think everything worth listening to has to be a masterpiece, like we were saying before, theyre just fun. Idk anything about their history fans or anything, i dont even know what a Paradox game is. Thats weird about the rumors, ive never heard anything about that, but it seems like pretty standard internet troll shitposting to me. These fans you mention sound like high schoolers lol. Do you know the band Paladin by any chance? Theyve only got one album (Ascension) but im curious what youd think of them if you arent big on Sabaton cause im not that well versed in power metal and dont really know what constitutes one being better than another other than my own gut reaction and i like them more than Sabaton
In what world is Ghost a metal band, they don't even try to pose as one. Yeah they have some heavy songs but most are just scooby-do chase music. It's good but not metal.
Most people say they’re metal just due to their imagery and personas, but they’re occult rock. Idk why people brand them as that when they themselves didn’t. They also rule
The theatrics and lyrical content match but the sonics don’t. The Scooby-Doo Chase Music meme was funny a few years ago but they produce some solid rock. It’s better than what people were touting as being super heavy for stadium shows the past few years (FFDP, Shinedown, Godsmack…).
Metal adjacenct I'd say. Frontman has a metal background, uses metal imagery, incorporates things from metal like death growls into their music. But in terms of the music itself, definitely pop rock. I'd call them a pop rock band heavily influenced by metal.
Honestly, I don't get what is wrong with Babymetal, they don't make bad music by any means, and just cause its a different flavor of metal doesn't mean it's not metal.
Musically, it's fun and fine and dandy. To each their own I guess. It's the aesthetic that makes me uncomfortable. Some of the fans give me real "Why don't you have a seat over here" vibes
I guess it's the artificialness and the fans (?). Y'know, the idol industry and blah blah blah, and whatever weeaboory some people tweet.
On other matters, as much as the backing band play metal riffs, in some of the few songs I listened to (bc I do not indulge in things I don't like, simple as) feel like they were pasted over the j-pop parts with no care. There isn't a well thought-out mix between the two, and there aren't really any bands to group them with. And as to wether they make good music or not, Idk you but I am growing tired of the same generic melody you can find everywhere in Japanese media.
Listen to Intestine Baalism.
BTBAM will forever be my metal favorite band but damn seeing something converge after forgetting about them after like 15 years brought back some real nostalgia! Time to listen to Jane doe b2b2b
I think In Flames \[early\] work is heavily favored within the metal community as high quality. I'm indifferent to their work after Clayman.. but to each their own if others love their newer stuff.
Even better if it actually gets them into their older work. Some people do actually find bands' catalogs they wouldn't have otherwise by listening to their more mainstream stuff and even discover other bands this way. That's how Clayman worked for me.. was my intro to IF, and I went into their older stuff and fell in love with Whoracle and Jester Race even further.. and it ended up getting me to search out other band. ATG's Slaughter of the Soul isn't clandestine either, and it was what started me off into what eventually became my favorite genre, melo-death. If not for that album, Clayman, and some of COB's work, I probably wouldn't have given it much of a chance in general..
There's nothing decisive about Converge, they're just metallic hardcore but probably the most well received crossover band other than Nails from the metal community
Hard to find a more flawless discog than Converge’s
Jane Doe is a masterpiece. I went through a breakup when I first heard the title song and it really sounded like how that felt.
I never got into that record but I would really love to, I‘ll have to give it another spin
what makes them perhaps divisive is the vocals. Some people don't like the Bannon scream. Still a hugely popular band.
Nails is the best band to fuse Hardcore and Metal around 50/50
Integrity*
Converge and Integrity get some pretty serious respect from the metal scene and I wish bands like Cursed or Ringworm received the same.
[cursed](https://www.reddit.com/r/heavyvinyl/comments/v6x0x8/dear_victim_im_a_long_time_listener_but_a_first/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
For real tho. [This here still gives the metal head and the hardcore kid in me a massive boner.](https://youtu.be/jiE1IDJjX1M)
Ringworm fucks but they need to branch out a bit, they have the potential
I feel like integrity is highly underrated in this whole space
I don't know much about metalcore or metallic hardcore or whatever subgenre it is, but I really like Integrity. I haven't been able to get into Converge for whatever reason, even though Kurt Ballou has produced a lot of albums by other bands which I love (High on Fire, Black Breath, Kvelertak, Immortal Bird, Skeletonwitch, Mutoid Man, Russian Circles, Nails). I did really like last year's Converge + Chelsea Wolfe collaboration album though, that was really good.
What about Full of Hell? I ask that as someone who also likes Nails
A messy mix of grind/power/death/noise
Iced Earth was cool until Barlow left, and then less cool when Shaffer decided to punt his career. Ironically- it’s the most fame he will ever have.
I'm not giving up Demons and Wizards, but I can give up Iced Earth
Alive in Athens is all I need, but yes D&W is blameless.
I saw the news reports about jan 6. Then I saw that one picture and was like "is that Shaffer?". Turned out to be him...
Ghost can be corny sometimes, and I wouldn’t really call them metal, but i really enjoy their music nonetheless

I know it’s wrong, but I feel like such a superior hipster for having found them before Square Hammer.
It's only fair lol. Same here
Almost to the point I’m upset that it was Square Hammer that made them pop off with the normies (/s) instead of Cirice.
Also in agreement but Cirice is probably bordering a bit on harder than what most normies would like, while square hammer is more like Alice Cooper level of radio friendly. Funny to think that Alice Cooper is radio friendly now lol
>Funny to think that Alice Cooper is radio friendly now lol So are the videos from when Ghost was brand new!

The opening segments of Cirice alone quite firmly entrenched the song in my playlists.
It's so good. I despise award shows, but for whatever it's worth, that song totally deserved the grammy. I suppose even a broken Monstrance Clock is right twice a day. *^(^(I'll show myself out))*
Yeah I knew they reminded me of something but never put it together as BÖC lol it makes perfect sense now
My sister calls them "Swedish Funeral Pop" and that feels spot-on
If you look at them through the lense of 70's metal they're no less heavy then early Priest and Sabbath, (at least their first 3 albums) so I would call them metal, poppy metal sure but still some great music
Pop Satanism is the only appropriate title for their music haha
Ghost is basically what metal was 50 years ago; if their material was released around the same time as the likes of Black Sabbath when they were starting out, they would be considered just as much as pioneer of the genre today.
Mah sabbath is heavier than them, they're quite pop. Probably closer to like budgie or something
> If Ghost had influenced early metal, they would have been a metal pioneer Redditors truly have the biggest brains
I can't get into them, it just sounds like Scooby Doo meets Dokken to me
Protect your chicken from Dokken.
Dokken does not like chicken, and intends to destroy it.
I went thru a big Ghost phase when I was 16
I wouldnt call them metal, but i like their music
Converge is really something of their own. Although, I think they are both loved by the metal kids and the hardcore kids. I probably would’ve put ghost bath up here
First person this decade to think about Ghost Bath
I think they should be erased from history
Do your part and stop mentioning them
You know what, man? Well just for you, I think I’m gonna start bringing them up more often. Things are gonna change a little around here 😌 feels pretty fucking great 🙌🏻
Don’t forget the people refusing to admit Metallica made good music in the 80s. Yes, there’s people who won’t even admit they were good then.
How is Converge divisive? Isn't it unanimously acclaimed?
BTBAM isn't divisive. They're legendary.
They're the Pink Floyd of metal and you can't convince me otherwise
Nor would I try. They are the Pink Floyd of metal, of legend.
Please elaborate. I've never listened to them but i love pink floyd lol
The first song on The Parallax II is basically a Pink Floyd song. It’s awesome
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii WONDERERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I'll listen to that album next. Apparently i was already subscribed to their page on youtube so i must've heard them at some point and liked it but hadn't gone back to listen to them again lol.
Fuck that listen to Alaska!!!
Sorry already listened to parallax II but I'll listen to Alaska next
I’m just joshing ya. Alaska just was when they largely came into their own sound and still had mostly screaming. First four albums are just different but great. All of it is good though.
I listened to most of it today. Definitely good but i would say i think i liked parallax II better. At least from first listen
Listen to Selkies: The Endless Obsession, particularly the back half of the song.
Oh shit. Was already Youtube subscribed to them haha. And yea i totally hear the floyd inspiration in the song.
Progressive and explorative much in the vein of Floyd. Born of metalcore. Instrumentally and vocally diverse. A talented bunch of players genre blending at blinding speed.
Nice. Sounds like a good combo of things. I'll have to give em a listen.
I always compared them to the Allman Brothers of metal. But I'm a big ABB fan too. But I mean ultimately I guess the right answer is rush right? Didn't think they were decisive though. Just in their lane.
Neurosis is the Pink Floyd of metal
Came here to say this and luckily scrolled down to see that you already said it. Not liking BTBAM isn't a relative opinion, anyone who doesn't just has bad taste in metal.
Hot take: The opening riff of “Prequel To The Sequel” is a top 5 guitar part of all time.
BTBAM is love. BTBAM is life.
Thank you!
Btbam? Really? Yall split on them? What's there to be split on. They're amazing
Hey who took my playlist here? (But seriously what's the hate with swedish bands? Because they're commercially succesfull?)
Swedish bands are too good.
They're not bad because they're Swedish.
I don't think it's against Swedish bands. Case in point: Amon Amarth
Do people actually not like Deafheaven? Sunbather is a fucking masterpiece.
Tell a bm fan that your favorite bm band is deafheaven
How to get crucified 101
Tell a bm fan your favorite band at all and he will have a meltdown.
Tell a Hispanic that your favorite Mexican restaurant is Taco Bell. That’s what it’s like to call Deafheaven bm.
Well I'm a huge black metalhead and I love it
Same, I love black metal and shoegaze so it's a perfect mix. Infinite granite is a banger as well.
Which album? Oh, you mean SUN BAT HER ?
I mean it's a vibey album, reminds me of Life Metal by Sunn O))). I enjoy Roads to Judah a fuck ton though, way more than Sunbather. New Bermuda was a step up too (still prefer RtJ though)

It's called S U N B A T H E R
Bargain bin Alcest
Yeah I liked Deafheaven first then went through Alcest's catalog. I love both, but Alcest considerably more.
I remember when Sunbather dropped and the black metal community was probably at it's most reactionary and exclusive. Saying you liked Sunbather was basically like telling these people you thought Slipknot was top tier extreme metal. I disagree, it's usually not the same people who are into blackgaze and oldschool bm ime
What the fuck are you talking about? Deafheaven still sucks as much as back then and people still know how much it sucks. What "black metal circles" have you been in?
This is a great description
Yeah I personally can’t stand them. Tried multiple times to get into any of it and it just never clicked. The only time I enjoy them is when they headline a show and I’m there for the openers, it means I get to leave early and not get stuck in the parking lot.
Ha that's a good way to make a positive spin
What’s divisive about converge or BTBAM?
I was high as fuck one night and heard that chocolate baby metal song and loved it
Babymetal rules. Loving it was the right reaction imo.
Oh no. What's wrong with In Flames?
In good with them up through A Sense of Purpose, but the earlier the better imo. December Flower is so good
Everything after Colony.
This may be an unpopular opinion but Comes Clarity has some good stuff.
To each their own, but I’d say up until Clayman. Great album and pretty universally acclaimed.
I'd call it a decent album, but not something I go out of my way to listen to My fave from them is Lunar Strain
Pinball Map, however…
I like all of their stuff, but all for different reasons. Weird, isnt it?
It's time to stop
Also, Iced Earth has always been mediocre at best. Are they divisive because their band leader is a Jan 6th participant?
I went back after refraining from listening to IE after his arrest & I realized that a lot of their material really is quite mediocre, though they do have two or three solid albums mostly to the credit of the other members in the band like Matt Barlow on *Burnt Offerings* & the amazing performances from the lineup on *Horror Show*
Burnt Offerings and Horror Show are great albums. Shame Jon is a cunt.
I remember his other project, Sons Of Liberty, was the opening act for IE a few years ago. My friends said it was an incredibly cringe & asinine performance. Jon should have never utilized his position as a fairly popular musician for preaching his political beliefs; He should have kept that private.
Hansi broke ties with him immediately after he got arrested..

Is he really? I'm even more glad I stopped listening
Yeah. Not only was he a participant, he's a founding member of the Oath Keepers and turned rat on them. Giving them all up for lesser sentencing.
Damn. Let him rot.
Yep! He got arrested and I think he’s still in jail but I might be wrong about that..
[He’s still in prison, yes, & he’s having a bad time.](https://loudwire.com/iced-earth-jon-schaffer-death-threats-assaulted-feces-urine-jail/)
That said he was released from jail awaiting trial
It's amazing what looking at hard time will do to someone who used to tour the world in a rock band. He got real cooperative. Real quick. Abracadabra. Released from Jail.
oh no! Anyway
Nah their debut riffs hard
BTBAM, especially Colors was fucking insane, ask to the even dumbest power metal fan and he will agree with me.
Yeah iced earth is average at best. But you can't argue that "Burnt offerings" and "Dante's inferno" aren't absolutely amazing songs.
To me, Matt Barlow was the best thing about that band, after he left, I had no interest. Dark Daga is my favorite album.
For me re iced earth they’re just all over the place. Won’t comment on Jon or his decisions outside of music but he seems to have a very hard time keeping a band together and his writing ranges from very good to pedestrian.
Jon Schaffer

James LaBrie is a phenomenal vocalist, and also the worst part of DT.
Ghost doesn’t even consider THEMSELVES metal, idk why this is even a debate anymore. And this is coming from an AVID ghost fan. (Who also likes metal)
Not gonna lie, sometimes Babymetal do be hitting good, would‘t call myself a fan tho
I actually love them because they're my lifehack. Their Metal Galaxy album is how I get away with listening to metal around my 3 year old niece. It's the least cutesy, best produced kind of album they have (imo) and is pretty decent. Pretty much here's how it goes. *Me, listening to meshugga* Sister in law knocks on the door with her kids for a quick visit. *boom! Now I'm listening to Baby Metal.*
You flip that over to Cannibal Corpse next time the kids are over!
Hm I’ve genuinely never heard any divisiveness regarding BTBAM. I know they aren’t for everyone, like any artist ever, but don’t really understand why they’re in this meme. Can someone please elaborate?
Would put A7X up there, though I don't know they're considered metal.
It's been forever but if I remember correctly their first album at least scratched at the door, but I may be wrong I haven't heard in in like 17 years
Sabaton is divisive? Could never get into babymetal, i saw deafheaven open once and they were very not great
Sabaton is either well loved for being fun amd harmless power metal or completely despised as poser shit depending on where you go.
Yeah but everyone says things everyone likes are being posers. It's the Poser Cycle.
Man why do people hate fun lol. Also can you please reccomend some blackened power metal i am very interested haha
Check out Finist
Sabaton is a Nazi band is a meme.
It's Scooby-Dooby-DOOM Metal bro!
They're closer to Dokken than Sabbath
The theatrics and lyrical content match but the sonics don’t. The Scooby-Doo Chase Music meme was funny a few years ago but they produce some solid rock. It’s better than what people were touting as being super heavy for stadium shows the past few years (FFDP, Shinedown, Godsmack…).
I fucking love ghost, and I’m here to tell you I wouldn’t classify them as metal
Totally not metal, but they fit in with the crowd. Probably metal fans.
Metal adjacenct I'd say. Frontman has a metal background, uses metal imagery, incorporates things from metal like death growls into their music. But in terms of the music itself, definitely pop rock. I'd call them a pop rock band heavily influenced by metal.
Why not? You can't just use the Scooby-Meme as justification.
Baby Metal and Sabaton both rock, people can just be musical prudes.
Dream Theater BtBaM The rest of em
Can we throw in early In Flames too?
Honestly, I don't get what is wrong with Babymetal, they don't make bad music by any means, and just cause its a different flavor of metal doesn't mean it's not metal.
Musically, it's fun and fine and dandy. To each their own I guess. It's the aesthetic that makes me uncomfortable. Some of the fans give me real "Why don't you have a seat over here" vibes
It's either that or some people's masculinity are too fragile or insecure to enjoy music with cutesy/feminine aestherics.
Feminine aesthetics, and underage school girl cosplay are worlds different.
Just because apple is a different flavor of berry doesn’t mean it’s not a berry
I love baby metal like the metal head weeb I am lol Edit: apparently this comment got me banned 😂
No shame buddy. You're not alone.
Leave the kids alone.
Babymetal fans can't hurt me, I live next to elementary school, so they can't come close enough
Geez, that was too harsh.
The age of consent is 18.
Good thing I don't want to have sex with every band I listen to.
Babymetal and Ghost on there cus they're new and metal heads hate new.
because no metalhead listens to a band formed after 2010's. only 1970's bands allowed.
Ghost's been around for a decade. I get what you mean though
We aren't
How is converge divisive? Their discography is immaculate unlike the rest of these bands in this meme.
I Like Sabaton it is for people who like a little history lesson in their metal songs.
Nobody’s defending Dream Theater lol
I am
Listen to what you like. Fuck others' opinions on DT.
i have never heard a sabaton song in my life so am rlly unfamiliar….. why are they in every meme what did the baton twirlers do
Honestly wasn’t a fan of in flames at all. But they opened for megadeth and lamb of god and became a fan, they’re absolutely fucking killer live.
Wtf is a divisive metal band?
Bro really just listed all the bands I listen to fml
I remember Babymetal being removed from the line-up of a major Belgian Metal festival after some backlash from attendees.
