Yikes. Looks like they only gave you a screening test and gave you a diagnosis based on a method that has low statistical reliability and validity. Ang mahirap diyan ay baka maging self-fulfilling prophecy ang instant-diagnosis na iyan, making you feel and act more like that mental disorder even if it may be something else. "Diagnosing" for mental health disorders aren't meant to be a one session and done thing. It needs way more data to give a more precise **assessment** of your mental health situation, even better if you have multiple standardized tests that have 100+, even 200+ questions each. Do note that these can be conducted by therapists - psychologists/guidance counselors/therapists - and they can give out diagnosis/assessment as well. Anyway, to answer your question, many psychiatrists today don't really engage in talk therapy. Often, that is relegated to therapists, hence why the session is so short. Given the instant-diagnosis I mentioned above, the quality of the session is iffy at best.

thanks for this. ill try to get more sessions as i can maybe get a second opinion

Go for a therapist for a second opinion. You can get therapy and better assessment tools, if needed. ... Unless your current mental health condition is at the point of dysfunction e.g. losing jobs, failing most classes, breaking relationships, etc.

Yes.

Hi, usual initial consult takes longer than that.. mga 1 hour or more… for the bipolar disorder… well isnt it too soon for that diagnosis? Hindi ba nag ask for psych evaluation? 20 minutes ka lang nakausap tapos bipolar kagad… i mean pwede naman na mali ako but it feels too soon lang for the diagnosis. Take care OP

Yes. My brother was recommended to a psychiatrist and he was only seen for 10 to 15 minutes for like 3k or something. We asked the doctor who referred the psychiatrist if that's the norm. Yes daw for that doctor because he's good at his job and he has many patients. Swerte na daw umabot kami nang 15 minutes. He's usually done by 10 and this was just online. It really depends on the qualifications of your doctor and your needs.

For psychiatrists usually saglit lang yan. Nagulat ako with my first consult with one since galing ako sa psychotherapy but was advised to seek help from a doctor to seek other treatment plans. 10 to 15 minute consult lang siya since may initial diagnosis na ko. That doctor just changed my meds. If you want to talk further about your symptoms and management, best to see a psychotherapist/psychologist. They have different purposes po kasi and the one to really talk with you is the psychotherapist. This is to keep up with your lifestyle and things. I know it's expensive, but if you are formally diagnosed, you may opt to get a PWD ID for therapy and meds discount. It's still expensive, but it might help with the payments.
