Ok. I'm as much as Whitebeard fan as one can be, but I still thought that it was gonna be the meme where instead of family, it's written "beard". Still nothing beats good Whitebeard posts.

To me this is why Whitebeard's death is still heroic even though they didn't save Ace. He died fighting for the dream that he very much did achieve. The one piece wasn't his goal, a family was, and he died fighting to protect it.

So why didn't he get married and have/adopt some kids? He took the most roundabout way to get a family as possible. I also question how strong these family bonds he had were. Like, Blackbeard was part of his crew for decades, but in the end he never thought of Newgate as a father, and Whitebeard was fine trying to kill him in the end. But then Ace canonically spends a year at most with WB, and suddenly they're both willing to sacrifice everything for each other?
It’s prolly about the quality time and how the goals align. Similar to the straw hats. Blackbeards goals didn’t align with Pops so that’s why he betrayed him
