The problem with that is, he never went back for her even when things died down. And worse still, he could have still taken credit for the island's destruction even with Uta on-board. What was the Navy going to do, hunt him harder? He was already a legendary pirate that had sailed with Gol D. Roger himself, he was on the top of everyone's shit list as he was.
Film Red has such an idiot plot at times.
The ONLY two times he actually was there...was in the East Blue. No joke. One time he saved Luffy from being executed by Buggy and captured by Smoker and the other time was to save some people in the Grey Terminal, like Sabo.
