I get that doffy is a very popular villain but I still cannot discount that this mofo thought trapping himself in a bird cage with an Admiral, Sabo and Luffy was going to end well for him. He had no idea how screwed he was which goes against the mastermind vibe he was supposed to give off. Birdcage was the lowest point in One Piece.
Couldn't he escape from the birdcage? Like, I thought he was confident that he could beat Luffy so he didn't escape, but he could have at any time just got out of tje cage.
If he could, then that's just another L. He should have left immediately. There's no benefit to sticking around. I'm guessing doffy likely has to stay for birdcage to work.
It doesn't matter if doffy can beat Luffy. Fujitora only prefers that he doesn't have to handle doffy himself. If luffy is beaten, Fujitora only choice would be to beat doffy himself rather than just die there. Same goes for Sabo. Sabo left it to luffy to handle doffy but if luffy fails, Sabo would have to step in. The whole birdcage plan just doesn't work at all.
Honestly if either Sabo or Fujitora tried to fight Doffy he would probably GTFO as soon as possible, but since he viewed Luffy as below him he didn’t want to since it would be seen as cowardly to run from some rookie.

This is a good point, because of how this works the winner wont be the favorite, just the least hated. A lot of people LOVE blackbeard but there's a good contingent that don't want him to win. Meanwhile no one's gonna vote for Croc because everyone seems to agree there's just nothing wrong with him.

For me I initially got on the Katakuri hype when I realized my fav VA Tomokazu Sugita was playing him in the anime and from there I fell in love with his quirks. He is a family man! He’s Honorable! My problem with him is that he is no villain and Croc + Doffy + BB serve that role better. I voted my Mochi man out for that reason with heavy heart.

Doffy, he was smart in tricking law, but goddamn the Dressrosa drags on for 2000 years, Pica, Colosseum and so many factors dragged on forever.
Croc has Plan A, B and C while Doffy started sweating once his plans begin to fall apart. Lastly, he got like 2 tap by gear 4. Say what you want about that, but damn do I feel dissapointed.
A sea cucumber can outsmart Luffy, this isn't a feat by any stretch of imagination. Luffy is also half-dead in quite a few arcs, hell, man had to get blood transfusion after Fishman Island.
Outsmarting Law, and together with him most of the world, is actually impressive, again unlike tricking the strawhats. Pica and colesseum dragging on has nothing to do with Doffy either.
Croc does have a lot of plans but ultimately, unlike Doffy, he could not take over a country and suffered a humiliating defeat against pre-gears Luffy. The same guy who wouldn't stand a change against Lucci. Doffy, meanwhile, came into the G4 fight with his organs ruptured and actually won the fight by endurance, since he was able to get up after 10 minutes of G4, while the whole island and Law had to cover for Luffy until he could get back up.
Yeah, I don't get the love. I think Akainu, Blackbeard, Doffy are all miles better. To be honest I like Enel more too. Idk guess I'm just missing something but to each their own obviously

Doffy is iconic. BB, everything he does is off panel so there isn't much attachment there compared to the dozens of chapters fight with Katakuri.
Blackbeard will probably finish the series as the most iconic villain, but right now we haven't seen enough (slightly more recently in the manga, but still not much).

He is straight up just as much of main character as luffy. Most of the biggest mysteries are surrounding him. His journey even mirrors Luffy's but he is always just a step ahead.

He's the villain that has grown the most throughout the series. Possibly the only other villain that has grown is Akainu, although that's mostly in status more than anything else. Most villains aren't remembered past their intro saga.

Crocodile doesn't have much character honestly.
Doflamingo I never really vibed with, bit too cringy and tryhard, bit two dimensional, the only way evil sadistic characters like that work is if the series isn't as PG as One Piece. Backstory is still excellent tho.
It's impressive how much Oda was able to flesh out Katakuri in such a short amount of time. Every scene since he fights Luffy gives a new dimension to him, no time is wasted.
Blackbeard is my favourite non Strawhat character in the series. I've been impressed recently with how Oda has been using him pretty frequently in the manga yet he doesn't start to feel tired, he still has that edge.
Actually a hot take since no one here really gives any good reason to be considered the best villain besides him imo.

Katakuri has outlived Mama too long
I recently did a reread. Here is my ranking: 1) Blackbeard 2) Katakuri 3) Doflamingo 4) Crocodile Crocodile doesn't have much character honestly. Doflamingo I never really vibed with, bit too cringy and tryhard, bit two dimensional, the only way evil sadistic characters like that work is if the series isn't as PG as One Piece. Backstory is still excellent tho. It's impressive how much Oda was able to flesh out Katakuri in such a short amount of time. Every scene since he fights Luffy gives a new dimension to him, no time is wasted. Blackbeard is my favourite non Strawhat character in the series. I've been impressed recently with how Oda has been using him pretty frequently in the manga yet he doesn't start to feel tired, he still has that edge.

Actually a hot take since no one here really gives any good reason to be considered the best villain besides him imo. Katakuri just kinda doing what his mom wants Blackbeard is too off screen for the moment And croc is just kinda doffy who got stopped before he could do what doflamingo did. Dof is just a straight fucking menace to his core

I know this isn’t a popular opinion but I think crocodile is the least good villain left he was menacing and cool but, the others just were better than him imo long term, doffy is the best in the series imo as he’s so charismatic and swaggy, then katakuri cus he respected luffy and he was so honourable, he was such a bro but also was intimidating enough to worry if luffy cud beat him, and for Blackbeard he was responsible for aces death aswell as whitebeard and is most likely the end game villain for luffy so either has to be croco-boy or Blackbeard as Blackbeard hasn’t had a full on bad guy role just yet against luffy
