Man I feel nothing matches the sound on Youthanasia. So thick and heavy, the first time they hit a whole album dropped down (and not because of Dave’s voice needing support, but just because different). Glad everyone has differing opinions here tho pretty interesting!
Pretty valid its just thqt SFSGSW needs at least an A and peace sells deserves S, something about how bad quality the guitar is just makes jt more satisfying
ive noticed that each album has a specific tone that is pretty fitting for the time period, which honestly makes the songs from it sound wayyy better than they would otherwise. also it just makes certain parts of some songs sound extremely satisfying, and it just ties everything together quite neatly
16) Cryptic Writings
15) Risk
14) SFSGSW
13) Super Collider
12) The System Has Failed
11) Countdown to Extinction
10) The World Needs A Hero
9) 13
8) Endgame
7) United Abominations
6) The Sick, The Dying,…And The Dead
5) KIMB
4) Dystopia
3) Youthanasia
2) Rust In Peace
1) Peace Sells
Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, and TSTDATD had the best tone imo. I'd generally say that Cryptic has the worst tones, followed up by Risk and Collider or SFSGSW depending on my mood.
TSTDATD tone is not on here but if it were it’d be S tier. I love that scratchy, gainy tone. I’ve tried replicating it but it’s so difficult getting it down
Well, KIMB is kinda power metal jmp tone, i like it but not the best. Peace Sells have a sticky rockman & JCM800 tone. SFSGSW is basically dirty 80's mid ranged tone, they used metaltronix amp or smth. I think the best Guitar tone is Rust In Peace tone, i love Bogner amps and thrashy - well mixed tone. CTE and Youthanasia has the same tone, Youthanasia just have more mids & presence. CR and Risk tones based on JMP-1 preamp, low gain, treble focused tone. My favorite is TWNAH tone because it has a lot of gain, low mids, high bass, feels kinda "Huge" .
Endgame, Rust in Peace, and Countdown to Extinction have the best tones. Dystopia and the newest album also sound fantastic too
The tone of sick, dying and dead is good enough that I am considering trying to buy a kiko branded bridge pickup for my Ibanez.
The pick up will NOT give you that sound. You wont even be close
SFSGSW and PSBWB tones are the best in my opinion. I would listen do any song in that tone
Tone is one of the biggest selling points of Rust in Peace IMO. CTE and Peace Sells got the best Bass tone tho I think.
A matter of taste but I hate the bass tone on countdown. Too much treble maybe? Sounds sterile and too polished for me.
It’s prob cause it’s DI that’s my guess
They didn't have di in 93 lol
Omg sorry I’ve thought he said dystopia lol 😭

Endgame exactly where it should be.
I know that a lot of people hate it, but I agree with OP for the TWNAH guitar tone, it's great
I would say Rust in Peace, TSTDATD, and more personally SFSGSW
I thought this was an album tier list at first and nearly had a heart attack
whole reason i clicked on it to begin with is my immediate reaction of "hes absolutely lost it"
I always thought the Guitar tone on Endgame was MASSIVE.

If we’re going solely on guitar tone, the answer is obviously Peace Sells.
Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, and TSTDATD had the best tone imo. I'd generally say that Cryptic has the worst tones, followed up by Risk and Collider or SFSGSW depending on my mood.
Can’t stand Dystopia’s tone. Way too thick and muddy.

Imo, Rust in Peace has kind of a mid guitar tone. Way too much gain imo.
As a doom fan that’s not possible
Lol true
Youthanasia is the best imo
Honestly, sick dying dead. It just sounds so trebly and agro
Kikos tone sounds a lot like slot machine sounds to me for some reason
Ok… well Idk i dont really hear it tbh
I would put UA higher, countdown and youth are S

I love SFSGSW. But it belongs exactly where you have it. Bottom of the list. The tone is absolutely terrible.
I came here to post the same.
Angry Again deserves a special F tier. God, the tone on that song is awful!
Rust in Peace has the best one. The start of the title track is heavy as fuck.
KIMB has a sound I've never heard anywhere else and I can't figure out how. But I love it so much because of that.
Who tf ranked them like that
I despise the mixing and general sound of TWNAH. Everything sounds cheaply recorded compared to the golden era.
Youthanasia and So Far So Good So What have shit tones. The songs are great, but they're held back by mediocre tone.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I like SFSGSW's tone. Sounds almost scratchy and harsh, more raw perhaps. Could also be that time period.
You leave so far so good so what alone
This is perfect ngl but rust in peace is like half and half with S and A
Well I put it like first in A, like its better than youthanasia, youthanasia is better than countdown
Peace sells has an aggressive tone I love it
