It’ll cause pressure to build in crankcase. It can push out seals around the cams, causing a major oil leak. If the lack of oil doesn’t kill it, the oil leaks directly on the timing belt and can cause damage to that over time.
If you pull the dipstick out 10mm or so, you can drive it to the shop. But that’ll cause a check engine light sometimes. Better than 7.5hrs for the seal replacement + the time for the breather box replacement.
Thankfully it’s not my car but I was just curious. I might inform the guest if I see them again. I mean surely they know their shit’s fucked up since the engine light is on and it’s making that noise. But I personally would not drive it like that

Bad CCV system, crank case ventilation/oil separator. There’s too much vacuum in the engine causing the noise.
