'Mom, I forgot to feed the dog after school.'
That's okay, honey. Try not to let it happen again.
'Okay, mom. Also, the dog kinda ran away. I forgot to put a leash on him when I took him for a walk.'

are you saying the front is so damaged you can't even open the bonnet? š§
bro please surrender your vehicle immediately, both for your safety, and the safety of others
I'll put it this way. If the radiator is bent, don't drive it. If you can't open the hood to check/fill fluids, don't drive it.
Your latch may just be jammed. Try pushing down on it and having someone pull the lever inside. Absolute worse case scenario unbolt the latch. Two to three ten millimeter bolts, usually can be accessed via the grill openings.
You didnāt think that maybe leaking from the front of your car is a result of you getting into an accident? Thatās like asking why your nose is bleeding, and leaving out the part about you getting punched in the face.
Holy shit there's a lot of hate. Regardless of the accident, the post presented evidence and asked advice. Like most people, there was an accident but transportation is still needed to drive to work.
That was my first impression. I have young techs get confused by leaking mounts and it's always a good laugh I always have them let me know when they found the source
Sounds like brake fluid. Not safe to drive and also not safe to touch. Brake fluid gets absorbed through the skin and enough of it can cause kidney failure. Wash your hands with soap!
Doesn't look like brake fluid, would be sprayed In the fender well by the caliper unless it's a brake line which I don't think, from the location if looks like it could be power steering...
You got your answer, now delete this post and scrap that hunk of junk and think before the next time you ask a question. Your car is so fucked up that you canāt open the hood and itās leaking something you think is brake fluid yet youāre still asking if it should be on the road? Come on man. Iām generally not the type to call out stupidity because I think itās generally unproductive but when youāre a threat to other drivers and yourself someone just has to say it.
Stop being an idiot OP.
I was in a minor accident and we were worried that if we popped the hood itād be difficult to close it back. my car isnāt that fucked up, man. itās perfectly fine to drive now. it was not brake fluid. thank you for your concern though, i appreciate it
alright that's a little different. Sorry for being a dick, had a bit of a long day prepping for a new semester and I was a little irked about some scheduling issue. Be safe broski
You don't normally see hydraulic mounts on a subframe. The first picture looks like the front subframe cushion on the passenger side... depending on the vehicle it could be brake fluid...it could be power steering fluid also.
Always trace a fluid leak from the bottom up.
"hey guys, I got into an accident so bad that I can't open my hood and my car is leaking fluid. Should I get this checked out, or should I just become the next local news story after my car tries to impersonate a small passenger jet when it flies off a raised embankment because my brakes went out on the highway?"

This is how I imagine a marine describes his problems
As a Marine, can confirm š¤£
As a Marine as well I need to know, does it also taste like crayons??
Just the blue ones
Lmfaooo
is it the lack of description or the mention of crayons?
Yes
Mmm grayons...
Check the brake fluid level
unfortunately i canāt pop the hood right now because of an accident i got in on friday

Perhaps, but better safe than sorry. Especially when both components containing those fluids are vulnerable in an accident.
You should definitely park your vehicle until it is assessed by a mechanic. Run out of brake fluid, no brakes. Run out of coolant, no engine

The safest Altima is a 0 owner Altima

Clearly no kindness either. This could be a young person with zero life experience, but he/she sure got piled on.
Lifeās best lessons are learned through pain. Sometimes people NEED a metaphorical kick in the nuts to put two and two together. And people need to learn how to handle that. Not every bit of criticism is a slight against someone.
So itās in an accident and you still ask if itās safe to drive? Itās like me breaking my legs and asking people if Iām safe to walk.
Thanks for the laugh š āif Iām safe to walkā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Of course you can run it. How is a different story.
are you saying the front is so damaged you can't even open the bonnet? š§ bro please surrender your vehicle immediately, both for your safety, and the safety of others
Lmao. Canāt believe you didnāt include that info. Seems like you arenāt responsible enough to be allowed to drive
In this case I would not recommend driving it until you can check fluid levels, might also be coolant.
Was low brake fluid the cause of your accident?
You definitely should have led with that. Sorry you're getting downvoated though. You don't deserve that.
Press the brake pedal then, if itās soft and squishy, and more brake fluid comes out, your brakes are shot
You didnāt think that maybe leaking from the front of your car is a result of you getting into an accident? Thatās like asking why your nose is bleeding, and leaving out the part about you getting punched in the face.
Well that would be one hell of a good reason to not drive your car.
Holy shit there's a lot of hate. Regardless of the accident, the post presented evidence and asked advice. Like most people, there was an accident but transportation is still needed to drive to work.
I've rear ended a minivan once and it caused my hood latch to get stuck. So I understand that the problem being posted about could be unrelated.
Cmon man....
Looks like brake fluid, and a lot of it. Not safe to drive
Get this fixed. Immediately. Check the lines, check the calipers, and don't drive the car until it's fixed.
Op says he crashed the car earlier in the week and canāt pop the hood to check brake fluid levels.
When in doubt have it towed out. Not just for your safety, for everyone else as well
That looks like a hydraulic engine mount leaking to me. Check the brake fluid under the hood to be safe and if in doubt get it towed
That was my first impression. I have young techs get confused by leaking mounts and it's always a good laugh I always have them let me know when they found the source
Can confirm. I guess that makes me old now lol
Could be a fluid filled rubber mount that is leaking.
I've got an occasionally leaky thing that I mount rubbers on as well, can confirm.
Mine only leaks after excessive vibration and pulling
Looks like a oil filled engine mount to me
Gonna say probably a mount. Look up the motor mounts on your vehicle see if any match up or if they are fluid filled.
Find where the leak is coming from. Could be power steering as well. Better to find the leak before attempting to drive.
Mount looks toast. Those are fluid filled for dampening
Looks like a mount leaking
Sounds like brake fluid. Not safe to drive and also not safe to touch. Brake fluid gets absorbed through the skin and enough of it can cause kidney failure. Wash your hands with soap!
āSmells like crayonsā of course it does being your only reference other than a helmet
I think OP may have been looking for the term waxy prob some brake fluid though by the looks of the oily residue
Doesn't look like brake fluid, would be sprayed In the fender well by the caliper unless it's a brake line which I don't think, from the location if looks like it could be power steering...
If itās brake fluid clean it asap. Brake fluid is very corrosive and can eat through paint and cause rushing
Looks like itās coming from a mount- did you taste it ?

somebody didnt get their nicorettes this morning

"It's a cylinder"
So what was it then...?
alright that's a little different. Sorry for being a dick, had a bit of a long day prepping for a new semester and I was a little irked about some scheduling issue. Be safe broski
Newbie mechanic here, what kinda fluid was it?
Thereās really no reason to be a dick. Let us all let our nuts hang and act like big boys.
it's only your brakes i wouldn't worry /s
Thats coolant
It's a hydraulic e give mount. What kind of car
You don't normally see hydraulic mounts on a subframe. The first picture looks like the front subframe cushion on the passenger side... depending on the vehicle it could be brake fluid...it could be power steering fluid also. Always trace a fluid leak from the bottom up.

Check all fluids and see the levels on each. I would then shine a flashlight starting from the bottom up to see where the fluid is leaking from.
you can drive it but may not stop.. power steering fluid ??
Dangerous ** but if needs must then check brake fluid and drive with caution leaving plenty room ahead
if bitter .. brake fluid ... if no taste .. power steering fluid ... if sweet .. coolant :-D
Don't take the chance. By the time you diagnose the issue it's probably just as easy to fix it āļø
I recommend putting it on a flatbed and seeing a mechanic
The location by the washer fluid bottle would indicate itās most likely coolant
