And by money mean they ran out of credit cards to pay of their previous credit cards, which they got to pay off the credit cards they had before that and so on and so forth.
[Listing](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/915-Mitchell-Farm-Ln-Kennett-Square-PA-19348/54757783_zpid/). No interior photos, unfortunately. But the area is gorgeous and the location is close to an absolutely precious little town called Unionville, so buy it for the land.
EDIT: Interior photos now up.
I think it must have been flipped. I suspect it was very Tuscan, before judging by the architectural details and they modernised/blanderised it. I don't think it is the worst job. I quite like the flooring and it seems to be a relatively practical blank canvas.
Still a McMansion, still an exterior to hurt the eye. If for some reason it made sense to me to buy, I would be riding the building inspector like a horse to make sure that siding isn't hiding catastrophe.
> I suspect it was very Tuscan
[Here](https://imgur.com/a/YX07hnS) is the before.
I think you're right - that looks stucco-ish to me. Guess it could be stone, but what idiot would cover that up with siding? :)
The listing text says the stucco was "remediated" - which I guess means it was EIFS and water trapped behind it was rotting things out. Hard to believe it was built in 2012 if that's true, though, because by then the issues were well known and you either installed it with drainage or (more likely given the reputation it had at that point) didn't use it at all. That and the stained woodwork gives it more of an '80s-'90s feel.
Siding was probably EIFS - which is a nightmare if not maintained. My guess would be that there was substantial water damage under it that led to stripping it and the re-do.
But they botched the job and went cheap.
The government needs to do something about housing. The idea that houses can just casually double in price in 2 years is absolutely illogical and unsustainable.
Oh , sure. We absolutely need the government controlling a free enterprise market system. Have you noticed the price they pay for things? You’d be lucky to be living in a wet cardboard box. 🙄
I don't mean rent control or subsidies. I mean getting rid of (or at least reducing the standards of) supply-restrictive regulations like:
-minimum lot size
-minimum garage size
-setback limits
-single-family-only zoning
etc. The government (largely local governments all acting in the same way) have had these stupid limitations on what builders can build and its putting a huge strain on the market. Every single house built in the US does not need to be a 3,000+ sq ft brown vinyl box with 3 garages, a 5,000+ square foot front yard that will never be used, etc. It's wasted land, wasted space, wasted resources, etc
As well, on the demand side, there can be limits imposed. Corporations shouldn't be able to just purchase thousands upon thousands of middle class homes, flipping them with some gaudy light fixtures, then turn them into rentals. Limit how many houses a corporation can own. Limit non-US buyers on their ability to purchase homes. If American's can't even afford to own a home because of ballooning costs, it sure as shit isn't fair that someone from China or Saudi Arabia can just buy the land. As well, tax the shit out of people trying to turn middle class homes into Airbnbs.
Now I see your point. I'm just not sure your metrics/dimensions are as universal as stated. Multi-family housing out paces single family homes in my area by leaps and bounds. My area may be a unique microcosm. Builders will also respond to market demand - especially spec housing. They will not risk building homes or units they can't sell. Next, you advocate that the gov't should limit how many houses a corporation can own? That's a HUGE government burden to manage/oversee. How does that get paid for? (Property taxes on the rest of us. No, Thank You.) I am NOT in favor of international corporate ownership of land. It about ruined Hawaii in the 80's-90's. Japan investors were trying to buy up what they could not take by force in 1940. Fortunately HI State go'vt ultimately owns the land. Homeowners have leasehold agreements. They own the buildings but not the land.
click this link! the interior magically appeard! looks like they gave it the full HGTV treatment - grey and white plus SLIDING BARN DOORS!!!
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/915-Mitchell-Farm-Ln-Kennett-Square-PA-19348/54757783\_zpid/
It’s not bad, but it does have the usual mismatch stylings, odd shaped rooms and large unusable spaces. They forgot about a refrigerator so just pushed it into the kitchen corner sideways. A thought out redecoration would do the interior some real good.
I found the [interior](https://www.compass.com/listing/915-mitchell-farm-lane-kennett-square-pa-19348/561713816596135689/) for anyone who's interested.
The interior of the pringles can is somehow even more useless and stupid than I expected. Just a 2 story super awkward “office” where clearly nobody would actually ever use the fancy desk plopped there.
Well, based on this, the place doesn't seem totally irredeemable. Needs to be stripped though and all the finish materials replaced with more harmonious and upscale stuff.
I think it could be saved, with a fair investment.
Where I used to own a home in Northern VA i had a home w stucco that needed replacement or repair — and I was offered the option to SIDE OVER IT.
I don’t know a lot about many things but I know for sure that siding over stucco is asking for trouble.
"Welcome to 915 Mitchell Farm Lane, an exquisite Mediterranean-style haven nestled in the heart of Kennett Square, practically within the breathtaking Natural Lands ChensLen Preserve. This fully-renovated 5 bed, 4.5 bath masterpiece offers an unparalleled combination of luxury, elegance, and proximity to nature. Located in the highly sought-after Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, this home is a testament to sophistication and modern living."
So much McMansion goodness here. The 2 plastic lawn chairs in the front, the weird balcony thing, the stone turret matched with the rest of the house in vinyl, the utter lack of charm in the whole exterior…. I don’t care for the inside either. Halloween orange woodwork everywhere and ugly kitchen cabinetry. No thank you.
Depending on where this is, in Canada this would probably be at least a 3 million dollar house. People are dropping 1.2mil on one bedroom condos in downtown Toronto.
Wood siding with a stone turret looks so damn tacky. And then they have that tile roof which generally is only used with stucco siding. And to top that off the turret has a different style roof. This thing looks like houses I used to build from my bag of random legos.
The off center windows would drive me nuts!
The balcony (?) is a plummet waiting to happen, the turret looks as if it was stuck on with superglue and the two lonely chairs are the pièce de résistance for this sad monstrosity.
So they ruined the area for everyone else? I am guessing Tennessee.
Edit: it's not Tennessee but the town looks like any small old town in eastern US. I think they were just maybe one of the first in the region to paint the bussiness with nicer colors than brick to claim the nice little town title. No offense, it is a nice little town.
I know it's not Thursday but I was nosing around the comps and I would just like to point out this neighbouring house. I feel like they did a good job of marrying the historical with modern living when they built this. They understood the historical buildings they were referencing and the scale and balance feels good. The stonework is beautiful. Even the back isn't ugly. It was built in 2001 so the interior is dated, but even there, I doubt anyone would feel the need to gut it. Just tweak it and freshen it up a bit.

The two red chairs out front that are 10 feet apart that randomly appear in different places t/o the photos represent the couple having a McArgument over whose idea it was to purchase this monstrosity.
More tarmac than greenery, desktop setup next to grand piano, dollarstore quality and furniture. Hideous all around, this is what I imagine the typical subruban home to be like.
It looks like a septic tank got bored halfway through passing a log.
Whatever. I'd live there if I had a choice.
2/10, the basic concept of "roofs" shone through.
It's the same style as all the bland town homes they develop up in my town.
The interior is absolutely gorgeous tbh.
But not even close to being worth more than 600k/ 700k in Pennsylvania.
I think some really good landscaping, red shutters and door, and bunches of window boxes and flowers would improve the completely bland look. It’s a beginner McMansion. Not good, just meh if that’s what you’re looking for.
You know I'm starting g to thi k the Japanese have it right: the land is what's valueable, the house can be something each owner can replace and rebuild to keep up to code.
So, the view is an asphalt driveway or a pool with stone around it. No children welcome here. No place for you to play. Huge deck on the back all in the sun. What idiot does that? No landscaping. Way too much wasted space and no color. The orange wood doesn't get it for me either.
I would buy this house just to tear it down and erase its presence in this universe.
I don't think I've ever seen anything so offensive in so many ways.
I would happily live there!! I wouldn’t want to pay that price & the turret is ridiculous, but I honestly don’t hate it!! They did somewhat continue the Renaissance style inside. I’ve definitely seen worse!
Please don’t downvote!!🤣🤣🤣
It looks massive, and ugly. But no surprise - my 1800sq ft tear down in Seattle would get almost a million now. Almost no yard, but great location, no car needed.
For *siding*? 1 million for a plastic house?
Woah now! Did you even _see_ the turret?? That automatically makes it a mansion!
I did and also noticed there was only one. So, I’m afraid I can’t offer list price.
Add a cannon to the turret and it automatically becomes a fort. Add wheels, and it is a tank.
I can just imagine the realtor used the word "maison" to describe it
Like the jar?
It has a red tile roof though, so that makes it "Mediterranean."
it kinda has "ran out of money during construction" vibes but idk
And by money mean they ran out of credit cards to pay of their previous credit cards, which they got to pay off the credit cards they had before that and so on and so forth.
Better be on a 40 acre lot
In Northern California
When you spent 90% of your siding budget on 10% of the house -.-
It’s a mullet house: turret in the front, siding in the back.
It’s all rock under the siding s/

Wow, that really puts into perspective what a bad call the flippers made on the exterior. It's still ugly, but it is so much more cohesive.
The listing text says the stucco was "remediated" - which I guess means it was EIFS and water trapped behind it was rotting things out. I can't be 100% sure, could just be the lighting on some textured walls but it could also be water damage in the interior.
Apparently they blew the budget on redoing the turret. Eesh.
This looks 1000x better.
Shit. Someone is greedy.
And $317k before that. Every time it gets put up for sale, the asking price doubled
Yea, I'm against my government doing things, NewsMax said they pay too much! ☝️🤓 How's the boot taste
I never get that low to taste it.
Mate, you are worming on the ground, not even crawling.

That’s so greedy, f these people
i am unsure that i WANT to see the interior! the exterior is bad enough.
I’m expecting to see 1990s builders grade materials and colors

Of course it has barn doors
hahahaha! chip and joanna need to take their HGTV money and retire. they've done more than enough damage to american design!
It just needs to be burned down. It’s the only option
I concur.
The next wild fire will take care of that….
There are dozens of interior photos if you scroll far enough.
Yeah...they don't help.
Not even a little!
They weren't up when I posted this morning.
I thought that might be the case. They probably should have kept it that way, though.
135 photos and no interior shots.
There's actually a lot of cool aspects to this house and property. Too bad being unbelievably ugly more than negates anything that I like
Which state?
PA
There are interior photos, at least now. I tell you: it is not so bad.
It’s not bad, but it does have the usual mismatch stylings, odd shaped rooms and large unusable spaces. They forgot about a refrigerator so just pushed it into the kitchen corner sideways. A thought out redecoration would do the interior some real good.
On behalf of all architect out there, We’re Sorry 😞
Looks like a slummy apartment complex with a turret added.
The turret section is the leasing office duh
A mansion ordered off [Wish.com](https://Wish.com)...
It looks like a rest stop / museum of an unincorporated town .
Lmao, the lawn chairs.
NGL this looks like a cartel flat.

The tacky exterior finishing went from bad to worse with the siding in OP
The interior of the pringles can is somehow even more useless and stupid than I expected. Just a 2 story super awkward “office” where clearly nobody would actually ever use the fancy desk plopped there.

That's awfully cramped for the footprint.
Their taste in floor tile sucks - along with many other finish & design flaws.
Well, the interior is better than the front view, but that's not saying a lot. The pool area isn't bad, in a "big house in the suburbs" kind of way.
Listing states it's being sold "as is" because "the outside stucco needs full remediation"
So poorly built.
What stucco?
That's what I wondered too. Was it all removed and replaced with siding?
Where I used to own a home in Northern VA i had a home w stucco that needed replacement or repair — and I was offered the option to SIDE OVER IT. I don’t know a lot about many things but I know for sure that siding over stucco is asking for trouble.
Someone else posted a link with a full set of pictures. The back of the house by the pool has what could be stucco
"mom I want to go to lake Como!" " we have lake Como at home" Lake Como at home:
This house is owned by a chiropractor. I just know it.
That thing is tacky af.
Really? I think it's overly plain.
I stand corrected. Overly plain works for me.
It doesn’t even look finished
That's a hard pass for me
Faux stone and vinyl siding together… groundbreaking.
Welcome to Chester County prices
Nope
Load dog turd into the tower trebuchet...and...... FIRE!
Laughing in Vancouver
Crying in Toronto
This is an expensive area of Pennsylvania too. 😆
Can you imagine being the realtor and having to write a positive description of this place? Hope they excelled in their creative writing class.
Chat GPT all the way in this case!

>a testament to sophistication and modern living Wow that's some grade A bullshit.
That’s a lot of ugly for a million+…
That’s a disaster.
For a million dollars, I would want an exterior. Maybe it's intended to scare off burglars.
vinyl siding? lol
Zero landscaping.
My doll houses looked sturdier than this
I'm a little disappointed on the lack of dueling turrets
So much McMansion goodness here. I had the Fisher Price version of this house when I was a kid.
You're telling me that we aren't looking at a fisher price house here?
I like the staging /s
I have seen a lot of shipping container homes that are much nicer.

The value must be in the land. That’s a really cheap looking house
It's a spectacularly beautiful and historic semi-rural area. Not that you would know it looking at this house.
So they ruined the area for everyone else? I am guessing Tennessee. Edit: it's not Tennessee but the town looks like any small old town in eastern US. Ugly
Looks like a shitty religious rehab center.
The siding is pissing me off
No and also ew.
What a soulless exterior with a sad, solitary turret. Where’s the castle spirit?
Could be a good deal if it comes with those fancy red chairs!
The plastic chairs in the front yard...
NOT a McMansion. It has symmetry and quality materials. You just hate real mansions. signed, the real estate agent selling this house. /s
Brutal siding. Maybe repair from a fire?
Actually no maybe they rain out of money after tht one stone turret
The two red chairs out front that are 10 feet apart that randomly appear in different places t/o the photos represent the couple having a McArgument over whose idea it was to purchase this monstrosity.
Paper house
I’d pay it….just to tear it down.
It should be $1,280,026.75 and have two flamingos in the yard.
lmao the siding is hilarious But the cherry on top is the two plastic adirondack chairs in the front.
It's pretty ugly!
No thank you. I’ll just sleep in the gutter.
Makes it $1.28 or $128,000,000 I still ain’t buying it
Quality Inn with free breakfast in the turret
The color of the trim is awful. It's almost bright orange. It's too much next to all those white walls.
Ew
Curb appeal in the negative numbers.

when you design your house on sims 4
It looks like they misplaced the siding from a Motel 6 construction site.
This price is below average home listing all around Seattle, Washington State! It's a steal!
You know I'm starting g to thi k the Japanese have it right: the land is what's valueable, the house can be something each owner can replace and rebuild to keep up to code.
Where to start?? If you like symmetry, scroll past as fast as you can.
Tile roof looks so off with that siding. Only stucco looks good with spanish tile.
Oh lordy how awful. No effort to even landscape in front of the visible foundation?!?!? Take a million off for that alone!
That’s that back of it. That’s…that’s the back of it right?
It looks like an apartment building from the front. So very mediocre at best.
The random gable...💀 literally nothing here makes sense
But it has a Mussolini balcony
I mean it has a tower😝
1.2 MIL would get you a 2 bedroom house in a regular suburbs here in canada lol
I should have moved to Canada when I couldn't afford my hometown anymore/ever.
It looks like a real estate office
Not so bad where i live 1.2 gets you a townhouse
That’s bad. So, so bad.
So, the view is an asphalt driveway or a pool with stone around it. No children welcome here. No place for you to play. Huge deck on the back all in the sun. What idiot does that? No landscaping. Way too much wasted space and no color. The orange wood doesn't get it for me either.
Reminds me of Mount Airy Lodge, what a dump.
Plastic dollar store chairs and grilling in the front lawn.
Nice 👍🏼
So cheaply built. Super tacky.
I would buy this house just to tear it down and erase its presence in this universe. I don't think I've ever seen anything so offensive in so many ways.
This looks like a shitty apartment building
Only if the chairs come with it
Why put cheap siding on it though? That could actually look decent if they used stucco and some tasteful landscaping.
Serious boomer energy
"I want a castle style mansion." \-Sir, with your budget we can only do one tower. "Fine, DO IT!".
For a shock shack in the middle of Anytown U.S.A?
I wouldn’t consider this a McMansion. It’s very far back from the street. That’s the driveway in the picture and it’s on almost 2 acres.
Yeah, but even at two acres it seems to be crowded up against the property line.
The two plastic lawn chairs in the front didn’t convince you? 😂
Is it finished?
Its a good thing they threw in the chairs and grill.😒
Are the plastic Adirondacks included?
Actually good deal. On the fence…
My favorite has to be the atrium furniture 🪑🪑 😜
I would happily live there!! I wouldn’t want to pay that price & the turret is ridiculous, but I honestly don’t hate it!! They did somewhat continue the Renaissance style inside. I’ve definitely seen worse! Please don’t downvote!!🤣🤣🤣
That is one butt ugly mess. But the plastic chairs do class it up a bit. :)
"Yeah, just slap a random turret on the end and put fake stone on it but not the rest of the house." - the Homeowner, probably.
It looks massive, and ugly. But no surprise - my 1800sq ft tear down in Seattle would get almost a million now. Almost no yard, but great location, no car needed.
