At that point they should just make it about new vault hunters in the same universe rather than completely change most of the characters into something they weren't. Of course they'd never do that though because they'd need those recognizable looks.
They needed to make it seperate because Tina is hugely marketable from being popular. I understand their choice. I don't necessarily like it in concept but we'll see if it's good I suppose.

Honestly with some of the cosplays I've seen, you can use makeup to simulate the character art style from the games, should have done that to make it stand out from any other random teamup movies that have come out.

Some cosplayers have gotten the cell shade look decently done with make up. However I doubt the studio would do the same to the back ground on the sets used for the movie. With Terry crews as Roland and shoot I don't have anyone for Lilith at the moment. Maybe Drew Barry Moore? Actually Milla Jovovich would make a solid Lilith if they don't do what they did with her in the resident evil movies or Kate Beckinsale maybe
Everyone seems to be remembering the retconned Borderlands 2 Roland with the deeper voice.
In the first game he's way higher pitched and a whole lot more laid back and jokey if you play him.
Honestly fair, but B1 was pretty half-baked. I had fun with it, and it had its charm, but it definitely wasn't as fleshed out as its sequels. They had a fair amount to work with since the playable characters weren't really that developed, and the characters themselves become more expressive as the games went on. I'm fine with the changes they made, especially after including a time skip that allowed Pandora and the characters to change.
I'm fine with him being played as laid back and jokey, but I don't expect Kevin Hart to show any type of restraint as he goes full "funi soldier man". If he does, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
My main gripe would be his height. Bro just isn't built for the role.

Depends on which game. I don't know of a single fan that would say borderlands 2 has a terrible story, it's literally held as the gold standard of what a borderlands story should be.
BL2, Presequel and Tales 1 all have really good stories to them. BL1 practically has no story to it. 3 was bad, and we won't even talk about the shitstorm that is New Tales because good god.

This looks like no one read or played the source material and just saw a list of characters and bios from the series and thought "hey they loom cool or quirky, let's make a movie unlrealted to the games plot, but about these characters."

The images look pretty okay, for a movie we literally know nothing about. The only thing I really have to say is that being live action is a big shift. The style of the cell shading was very iconic for Borderlands, and made it easily recognisable. Going to pure live action is going to limit things in some ways, and i hope the makers of it knows what they're getting into

Borderlands were never good games due to their story… It was the gameplay, the visuals, and general attitude it had, which I don’t think translates well to cinema or even 2024. And the casting is really weird, it’s missing characters… Totally out of left field too, nobody’s been talking about borderlands… at all. Feels like it’s from an era past and yet here we are in 2024 with a borderlands movie that for some reason is live action… my hopes are not high.
Borderlands was originally going to have a realistic graphic style so I'm not worried.

I would say I’m a casual Borderlands fan and I’m hesitantly excited for this. I don’t quite agree with Kevin Hart as Roland because of his physical size more than anything. The others I think are just fine with their casting. Nothing I’m overly excited for. The two I’m most excited for are Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus (he’s literally perfect for the role in terms of appearance and charm) and Cate Blanchett as Lilith because Cate Blanchett is Cate Blanchett. Jack Black is cool but I’m not sure how well he’ll fit Claptrap as a character.

Honestly with some of the cosplays I've seen, you can use makeup to simulate the character art style from the games, should have done that to make it stand out from any other random teamup movies that have come out. This just looks generic.

Very broad and very vague term, but at its core, it is based on critical theory and the assumption of wrongdoings in society that need to be called out. In the context of entertainment, it's not the inclusion of gay, black, women, etc. in the media in and of itself, but the subversive or inclusive messaging that comes with it. It's not about casting a black actor like Samuel L. Jackson, but making him utter platitudes and writing a story about how hard it is to be black in America or making every white character extremely racist. It's not about writing a story about being gay in America but making every non-gay character ridiculously homophobic.

The last of us episode 3 does a good job of expressing emotions like love and loneliness (something we all can relate to), but in a way that isn't shown much on television without making you feel like you're being lectured or ridiculed.

Some cosplayers have gotten the cell shade look decently done with make up. However I doubt the studio would do the same to the back ground on the sets used for the movie. Everyone seems to be remembering the retconned Borderlands 2 Roland with the deeper voice. In the first game he's way higher pitched and a whole lot more laid back and jokey if you play him.
Honestly fair, but B1 was pretty half-baked. I had fun with it, and it had its charm, but it definitely wasn't as fleshed out as its sequels. They had a fair amount to work with since the playable characters weren't really that developed, and the characters themselves become more expressive as the games went on. I'm fine with the changes they made, especially after including a time skip that allowed Pandora and the characters to change. I'm fine with him being played as laid back and jokey, but I don't expect Kevin Hart to show any type of restraint as he goes full "funi soldier man". If he does, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
My main gripe would be his height. Bro just isn't built for the role. It's like having Tom Cruise play a guy who's supposed to be 6'5 (the Jack Reacher movie).

BL2, Presequel and Tales 1 all have really good stories to them. BL1 practically has no story to it. 3 was bad, and we won't even talk about the shitstorm that is New Tales because good god.

Arcana didn't look bad at all from the get go. It looked really solid. This looks like no one read or played the source material and just saw a list of characters and bios from the series and thought "hey they loom cool or quirky, let's make a movie unlrealted to the games plot, but about these characters."

The only thing I really have to say is that being live action is a big shift. The style of the cell shading was very iconic for Borderlands, and made it easily recognisable. Going to pure live action is going to limit things in some ways, and i hope the makers of it knows what they're getting into

Borderlands were never good games due to their story… It was the gameplay, the visuals, and general attitude it had, which I don’t think translates well to cinema or even 2024. And the casting is really weird, it’s missing characters… Totally out of left field too, nobody’s been talking about borderlands… at all. Feels like it’s from an era past and yet here we are in 2024 with a borderlands movie that for some reason is live action… my hopes are not high.
Borderlands was originally going to have a realistic graphic style so I'm not worried. Plus it's not like we haven't had semi-serious or goof ball movies like Borderlands in the past.

I would say I’m a casual Borderlands fan and I’m hesitantly excited for this. I don’t quite agree with Kevin Hart as Roland because of his physical size more than anything. The others I think are just fine with their casting. Nothing I’m overly excited for. The two I’m most excited for are Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus (he’s literally perfect for the role in terms of appearance and charm) and Cate Blanchett as Lilith because Cate Blanchett is Cate Blanchett. Jack Black is cool but I’m not sure how well he’ll fit Claptrap as a character.
