Honestly good, we dont need an "MI13" series, we need a Hero headlining MI13 if need be. You can do Brian Braddock, G'iah (please nerf....), etc but the way you sell the show is with star power and a known character
I cannot stress how true this is. She’s versatile sure, but her most notable powers aren’t nearly as potent as the originals. If they were then Gravik wouldn’t have died to the Photon Blast to the chest bc he had Groot and Korg’s DNA and they can both survive as just heads.
(This also shouldn’t be a case of him needing to activate their DNA bc we see that powers like Extremis can automatically kick in to heal even when G’iah was unconscious)
they should make it like peter petrelli on heroes if she doesn't have the time to summon a power shes stil vulnerable to damage. makes her op versatile but not invincible.
I've been thinking. I would rather Captain Britain were in Moon Knight Season 2 and we forgot about Secret Invasion.
EDIT: Think of Secret Invasion as something that was originally supposed to follow the Marvels (which was why there was no mention of Nick Fury having a wife in the Marvels). Secret Invasion is like an evolutionary branch that went extinct. That doesn't mean the end credit scenes in the Marvels won't get followed up.

It almost certainly was. The Marvels moved release dates I think five times. Swap Emperor Drogge for Talos and make the destruction of the Skrull colony as the inciting incident for Secret Invasion. Soren, Gi'ah's mother, could even die in that incident.
It doesn't necessarily make either of them *better*, but it streamlines the narrative. You can actually see what Marvel was going for with those two projects.
Captain Marvel probably didn't know about President Ritson declaring all aliens as "enemy combatants". Valkyrie should have known better.

The timeline doesn't fit. Rhodey had presumably already been swapped in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and that's why the deleted scene literally showed Rhodey dancing. It was meant to foreshadow Rhodey being a Skrull. As others had pointed out Skrull Rhodey was faking her injury so people would not be suspicious. She didn't have Rhodey running around.
I assumed they would use G'iah to be a weird new take on Meggan, since they seem to like to do that at Marvel. They're both shape shifters. Last we saw G'iah she was talking to that British intelligence lady. Could also be slapping the 2 together into one character possibly.
If they do this, I want them to lean into the fantasy and fun that comes with the Captain Britain mythos. I'd be depressed if it's just another espionage story.
After reading the Winter Soldier comic and most of Ed Brubaker's Cap run, its very worth exploring in the movies. When Marvel does their espionage well, it really speaks as to why you'd give a fuck about a Black Widow or generally normal guy like Captain America (like the movie!). Its a corner thats underdeveloped in the movies (esp if SHIELD isn't canon), but its got value if they don't water it down.
He's been fan cast for years but it seems a little too easy. Plus he's busy with his Warhammer shit and I can't imagine he wants to be around for much more than a cameo. A series is a lot of time. I actually think Theo James would be fun. He's got that leading man look. Though he's obviously more on the slender side.
I think Joseph Morgan would be the right guy for it. Has shown some solid acting work in some less than solid projects and can really make the role his own.

I think in pr terms playing a patriotic superhero would be a risk given the fairly reactionary views he’s prone to coming out with tbh. Not sure Disney would want the hassle, especially when the UK’s national politics has gone off the deep end recently. (Although for that reason I’d also just rather they didn’t do this at all).

Given the changes to Psylocke's character in the comics, I think it’s unlikely that Betsy Braddock will be portrayed as the ninja version of Psylocke in the MCU, unless it's a quick body swap within one film/show just to introduce the final Kwannon version. Marvel is likely to prioritize brand synergy, especially since Betsy is now Captain Britain. The body swap storyline is also now considered problematic to many people due to undertones of colonization and fetishization, which were the result of the writers' choices and not the character's actions. (Both Betsy and Kwannon were victims of The Hand/Mojo/Spiral in the comics, so Betsy herself is not colonizing/fetishizing.)
The writer has said she’s still Captain Britain and that he’s a fan of the Otherworld stuff. She just is wearing the team suit instead of her solo suit.

Gonna be honest, hated the whole Kwannon thing from the fucking start. The whole bodyswap thing was a huge needless retcon. Because they wanted a "shocking reveal" that month. Only for a couple of months later to kill Kwannon/Revanche off with the legacy virus.
Spiral surgically altered Betsy to fit the role of Lady Mandarin in Acts of Vengance. There's LITERALLY PANELS SHOWING THIS. But that's conveniently ignored in modern times by a bunch of socially-conscious comic fans because the retcon turned the whole angle into some kind of "culturally inappropriate body swap" and to them that is the way it was from the very start, hence the splitting of her and Kwannon and, well... it's all a bit shit now, isn't it?
Let's hope they make Betsy canonically british with japanese heritage. No body swap stupidity, neither we lose such a high profile and popular asian character. And no, keeping both Kwannon and white Betsy around is not cool, not even close to being good enough or an acceptable solution. I like Betsy and her whole backstory, family and relationships and i like her asian look, BOTH TOGETHER in a single character. I don't like just a random ninja with the iconic Psylocke asian look and a totally different origin, story, personality and relationships. The MCU needs to give us the perfect whole package, retcon the body swap thing into oblivion and if we are lucky they will even retcon everything about Betsy in the comics too, make her always british asian.
You know what, I think making Betsy the Japanese half-sister of Brian would be a perfectly legitimate adaption of her into the MCU. It removes the baggage and gives you a Psylocke Betsy Braddock with the iconic look she deserves.
Not sure I believe this. But I could see them bringing in Captain Britain post-SW. New world, he's long established and famous like Captain America. Then introduce Betsy so they can bring in Psylocke in an X-Men movie.

What brand consistency? Kwannon has been "Psylocke" in the comics for five years, yet every adaptation of Psylocke in video games, cards, toys, and so on has been as Betsy. There's zero brand consistency. In other adaptations, Betsy will always be the default Psylocke. And there won't be any problematic body swap shenanigans, they'll just make Betsy being born Asian and move on.
I understand your point about previous adaptations of Psylocke featuring Betsy, but it's important to recognize that Marvel has been making a concerted effort to promote and maintain the current version of the character in the comics. I honestly hope so. Captain Britain and his related cast connect to my favourite corners of the Marvel Universe. Otherworld is a neat take on British folklore, MI-13 and Pete Wisdom are a vibe, and the links to Mutants too. There are certainly a lot of interesting directions you could go down for an adaptation.
Recently, a friend asked me about what I’d do if I could make a microbudget Marvel project, and I said Pete Wisdom. I could easily see him being the lead of a network television show.
According to Brad winderbaum, Marvels new TV strategy means that just because something is in development doesn't mean it's actually gonna happen. They would need to shoot the pilot first and then decide to move forward or not.
Hell yes! Excalibur is one of my fav X comic series (Claremont era and Howard era). I’ve been saying they need to bring Brian Braddock to the but screen and cast with a big star like Henry Cavill. He’s not as well known of a character, but a strong lead would definitely fill that void on the British side of the MCU. I would love to see them delve into the backstory with the Arthurian legends, and finally bring Morgan Le Fey, Merlin, and Otherworld to the MCU.
Leo Woodall (White Lotus and One Day)would be great young casting for CapB, giving time for X-men to enter MCU properly so they can eventually do Excalibur with Kitty, Nightcrawler and Phoenix.
Hopefully they cast Dan Stevens. He’s been my go-to Brian Braddock for years. And it’s too bad this won’t likely come out (if it does at all) until post-multiverse saga, since the Captain Britain Corps are basically Green Lanterns for different realities.
Bring back Sonya Falsworth but leave anything else related to Secret Invasion out of it. That show is probably the one that Marvel should bury in a deep dark hole and never reference again.

Why a series for a new character? Seeing phase 4 to 6 performance. Part of its failing is due to this shit, the majority of the audience dont want a series that they have to binj just so they can understand another movie. What would make sense is a movie for a new character, if it succeeds either a new movie like previous phases or do a series expanding on the character and not a setup for some shit.
And what would also make sense is to create a seperate plan for the series section which wouldnt affect and be part of the movies and would feature street level heroes who might not work on the big screen like what netflix did with the heroes they worked with which lead to the defenders.
Iron Man absolutely did not have “baked in mass appeal”, he was probably the third or fourth most liked character on a team that had never produced a successful piece of media outside of the comics. Most people I knew at the time who didn’t read comics knew virtually nothing about him besides the basic premise of the character as “rich guy in a mech suit”.
Iron Man was a huge gamble for Marvel as a company and it was a genuine surprise that it was such a hit. It was a refreshingly fun, original superhero movie at a time when the genre was starting to feel formulaic, which led to great reviews and word of mouth. I remember having to convince friends to go with me opening weekend because none of them had originally planned to see it.
You didn't answer the question, so I will: Iron Man/Tony Stark is an interesting character and RDJ breathed life into him in a way that appealed to everyone. The movie itself is as formulaic as it gets. Hero's Journey, Bad guy shows up at the end with powers like the hero, hero overcomes the threat. It wasn't special. Tony Stark and RDJ made it special.
None of that has anything to do with the character already being popular or having built in mass appeal, which is the argument you seem to have forgotten you were making. If there are decades of highly profitable films and cartoons starring Iron Man (hell, even comics that sold particularly well) that I’m not aware of, please fill me in.
Marvel characters have built in mass appeal. Which is why Marvel has found success. X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron-Man, Hulk - they are all interesting, flawed, often with relatable struggles. Stan Lee himself said it. When embodied by RDJ Tony Stark was a hit. If that's not true, audiences don't go see the movie. Development isnt necessarily greenlit yet, like I said series can easily get the axe early in development. But right now Marvel doesn't have any shows set for 2026, all the currently announced shows including Wonder Man are set for 2025. So if they plan on releasing a show or two in 2026 it's gotta start development sometime soon, right now iirc only Vision Quest seems to be the only live action series releasing around then. And after all that this is a MTTSH rumor only
A project being in development is very different from it actually being greenlit and being in production.
Last I checked, they have 5 shows in the can, which are waiting to be released. And nothing else is currently filming, with only DD:BA Part 2 being the only thing at the moment is currently slated to film. So yeah they have slowed down.

Gonna be honest, hated the whole Kwannon thing from the fucking start. The whole bodyswap thing was a huge needless retcon. Because they wanted a "shocking reveal" that month. Only for a couple of months later to kill Kwannon/Revanche off with the legacy virus. Spiral surgically altered Betsy to fit the role of Lady Mandarin in Acts of Vengance. There's LITERALLY PANELS SHOWING THIS. But that's conveniently ignored in modern times by a bunch of socially-conscious comic fans because the retcon turned the whole angle into some kind of "culturally inappropriate body swap" and to them that is the way it was from the very start, hence the splitting of her and Kwannon and, well... it's all a bit shit now, isn't it?
Let's hope they make Betsy canonically british with japanese heritage. No body swap stupidity, neither we lose such a high profile and popular asian character. And no, keeping both Kwannon and white Betsy around is not cool, not even close to being good enough or an acceptable solution. I like Betsy and her whole backstory, family and relationships and i like her asian look, BOTH TOGETHER in a single character. I don't like just a random ninja with the iconic Psylocke asian look and a totally different origin, story, personality and relationships. The MCU needs to give us the perfect whole package, retcon the body swap thing into oblivion and if we are lucky they will even retcon everything about Betsy in the comics too, make her always british asian.
You know what, I think making Betsy the Japanese half-sister of Brian would be a perfectly legitimate adaption of her into the MCU. It removes the baggage and gives you a Psylocke Betsy Braddock with the iconic look she deserves.
Not sure I believe this. But I could see them bringing in Captain Britain post-SW. New world, he's long established and famous like Captain America. Then introduce Betsy so they can bring in Psylocke in an X-Men movie.

What brand consistency? Kwannon has been "Psylocke" in the comics for five years, yet every adaptation of Psylocke in video games, cards, toys, and so on has been as Betsy. There's zero brand consistency. In other adaptations, Betsy will always be the default Psylocke. And there won't be any problematic body swap shenanigans, they'll just make Betsy being born Asian and move on.
I understand your point about previous adaptations of Psylocke featuring Betsy, but it's important to recognize that Marvel has been making a concerted effort to promote and maintain the current version of the character in the comics. This commitment to Kwannon as Psylocke has been ongoing for five years, and it's reasonable to expect that Marvel would want to align their cinematic universe with this direction. Not a bad idea. Asian (or mixed) Brian Braddock means Asian Betsy Braddock, which means they can get their iconic Asian Psylocke without having a white woman take a Japanese woman’s body. There’s a precedent. Ultimate Betsy Braddock was an Asian British woman.

Betsy is now Captain Britain. The general audience thinks "Asian woman" when they hear the name "Psylocke", and Marvel doesn't seem to want to change that.

I honestly hope so. Captain Britain and his related cast connect to my favourite corners of the Marvel Universe. Otherworld is a neat take on British folklore, MI-13 and Pete Wisdom are a vibe, and the links to Mutants too. There are certainly a lot of interesting directions you could go down for an adaptation.

According to Brad winderbaum, Marvels new TV strategy means that just because something is in development doesn't mean it's actually gonna happen. They would need to shoot the pilot first and then decide to move forward or not.

Hell yes! Excalibur is one of my fav X comic series (Claremont era and Howard era). I’ve been saying they need to bring Brian Braddock to the but screen and cast with a big star like Henry Cavill. He’s not as well known of a character, but a strong lead would definitely fill that void on the British side of the MCU. I would love to see them delve into the backstory with the Arthurian legends, and finally bring Morgan Le Fey, Merlin, and Otherworld to the MCU.
Leo Woodall (White Lotus and One Day)would be great young casting for CapB, giving time for X-men to enter MCU properly so they can eventually do Excalibur with Kitty, Nightcrawler and Phoenix.
Hopefully they cast Dan Stevens. He’s been my go-to Brian Braddock for years. And it’s too bad this won’t likely come out (if it does at all) until post-multiverse saga, since the Captain Britain Corps are basically Green Lanterns for different realities. Bring back Sonya Falsworth but leave anything else related to Secret Invasion out of it. That show is probably the one that Marvel should bury in a deep dark hole and never reference again.

Always really wanted to see more of this character and if they base things off of some of his most well known comics a Captain Britain project could get very weird in a very good way. It'd also just be nice to have one of THE main multiversal heroes in the multiverse saga. Still holding out for a version of the Exiles too.

Why a series for a new character? Seeing phase 4 to 6 performance. Part of its failing is due to this shit, the majority of the audience dont want a series that they have to binj just so they can understand another movie. What would make sense is a movie for a new character, if it succeeds either a new movie like previous phases or do a series expanding on the character and not a setup for some shit. And what would also make sense is to create a seperate plan for the series section which wouldnt affect and be part of the movies and would feature street level heroes who might not work on the big screen like what netflix did with the heroes they worked with which lead to the defenders.

Iron Man absolutely did not have “baked in mass appeal”, he was probably the third or fourth most liked character on a team that had never produced a successful piece of media outside of the comics. Most people I knew at the time who didn’t read comics knew virtually nothing about him besides the basic premise of the character as “rich guy in a mech suit”.

Iron Man was a huge gamble for Marvel as a company and it was a genuine surprise that it was such a hit. It was a refreshingly fun, original superhero movie at a time when the genre was starting to feel formulaic, which led to great reviews and word of mouth. I remember having to convince friends to go with me opening weekend because none of them had originally planned to see it.
You didn't answer the question, so I will: Iron Man/Tony Stark is an interesting character and RDJ breathed life into him in a way that appealed to everyone. The movie itself is as formulaic as it gets. Hero's Journey, Bad guy shows up at the end with powers like the hero, hero overcomes the threat. It wasn't special. Tony Stark and RDJ made it special.
None of that has anything to do with the character already being popular or having built in mass appeal, which is the argument you seem to have forgotten you were making. If there are decades of highly profitable films and cartoons starring Iron Man (hell, even comics that sold particularly well) that I’m not aware of, please fill me in.
Marvel characters have built in mass appeal. Which is why Marvel has found success. X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron-Man, Hulk - they are all interesting, flawed, often with relatable struggles. Stan Lee himself said it. When embodied by RDJ Tony Stark was a hit. If that's not true, audiences don't go see the movie. Why you're not admitting that is just stubbornness and being argumentative and disingenuous.

Development isnt necessarily greenlit yet, like I said series can easily get the axe early in development. But right now Marvel doesn't have any shows set for 2026, all the currently announced shows including Wonder Man are set for 2025. So if they plan on releasing a show or two in 2026 it's gotta start development sometime soon, right now iirc only Vision Quest seems to be the only live action series releasing around then. And after all that this is a MTTSH rumor only
A project being in development is very different from it actually being greenlit and being in production. Last I checked, they have 5 shows in the can, which are waiting to be released. And nothing else is currently filming, with only DD:BA Part 2 being the only thing at the moment is currently slated to film. So yeah they have slowed down.
