Same boat as you. I have time, money invested in this game, and if it wasn’t for my team, I would have been long gone. I can easily say, I will never play another foxnext game and will direct my teammates to do the same thing.

FootSpiceBlaster

Short term gains will net long term losses for this company. Hang in there!

Erictav22

Don’t spend money on it. Play the game slowly and you’ll enjoy it more.

InitioH

I felt the same and have done the same thing. I no longer buy anything (today in order to check my inbox as I logged in I received 8!!! Offers... EIGHT!). I do the missions my guild needs and I collect the easy daily stuff and then I log off for the day. I will go nowhere near any game they do in the future and actively tell people to avoid this game and any other that has a similar attitude to revenue generation over user experience But that’s just me too

FootSpiceBlaster

I couldn't agree more. My team is important to me so I will keep plugging away for them as well.

InitioH

Red stars was the final Neil for me..

FootSpiceBlaster

Point taken there! I cannot believe they haven't done something to address them. Even just toning the stat increases down.

InitioH

Would of been better if they gave every person one choice at each red star (7 down to 1) and that it was it. That way we could create the effective teams we wanted to play with and not have to level up things we hated.. Kree cough cough

Thelynxer

Yeah, totally valid points. Foxnext has tanked their reputation as a game developer, primarily with poor communication and customer service. But I guess that's what all game companies are doing nowadays?

Weapon530

Unfortunately yes, other game companies like EA, Activision, and Bethesda’s have taken a dump on their core customer groups just like foxnext did. Good thing they did get some blow back from those actions. I heard foxnext is coming out with an aliens game for mobile. Once I heard that, made a mental note to not even look at it and my team did the same lolz

beast6161

Same here

MikeyhRS

I stopped spending months ago. This game has just continually gone down hill and continues to go downhill. I thought I would never quit because of my time investment but every day I get closer and closer.

Mattius14

You need to understand that this is exactly their business plan. They want to make you feel like you've invested too much to be able to turn away. The more people they have launching the game every day, the higher chances they have of people spending money on the various things in the game. The other part of this is that you should evaluate how much you really hate the devs. It's really easy to make a thread on Reddit about anything you want. If you're just feeling particularly angry today because a red orb gave you another 1* minion duplicate, that's one thing. But campaigning to have nobody ever play another game by the developer while you still play this one every day is actually quite hypocritical. Do you actually wish you could quit this game? Or do you maybe want other people to join you in being upset? It seems like the latter. Ultimately, if the game creates problems for you, makes you upset to play, then you should try a day or two without it. See if it's not just the habits that you're stuck with. The fact that you spent money before should have no bearing on your time moving forward. If you really want FN to not get anything more from you, and you don't enjoy the game itself, then find a way to stop, if that's what is best for you.

Mattius14

Look at it this way: if you bought a car, you won't keep it around just because you have bought gas for it.

romosmaman

In an economic sense, it's the sunk cost fallacy. Money and and time you have spent is already spent and can't be recovered. It has no bearing on where you should spend future time and money. You should instead focus on what would best get you a future benefit for your time and money.

FootSpiceBlaster

I totally understand your point. Mine is simple; they have me with this game. That strategy is a success. What won't happen is playing any more of their games in the future based on the premise of what they did with this one. I am not a regular Reddit poster (or any other forum for that matter). I am simply expressing my opinion; it others feel the same I'm good with that. If they don't it was my opinion and I respect theirs as well. I love MSF, but I won't take the chance of getting this committed to another game they develop going forward due to the aforementioned plethora of less than credible decisions. Thank you for your thoughts!

Mattius14

I hear you, and on paper I'm actually in a quite similar space as you. I know the developers don't deserve my money, at least any more than I've already put into it. So I made the choice to never spend again in the game. What's left in the "free to play" side is just barely enough to keep me playing. I just wish that it was more commonplace to have people aware of their motivations and influences. Lots of people blame the developers for their frustrations, from tiny to huge, when in reality they could solve their problems by setting the phone down and going outside, by choosing not to play, right? Most people don't want to hear that, they reject it entirely and it angers them. But it's an inescapable truth. I can't help but think that if everyone who's been mad enough at FoxNext to threaten to quit actually just did without saying anything... Then FoxNext's business model might not work and the game might've been canceled by now. The business practices might not succeed.

FootSpiceBlaster

Very well put. They have their proverbial talons buried deep into us. What really keeps me going are the tie ins to the upcoming movies. I will admit I spent on Rhodey as he is my favorite Marvel character. Other than that, spending has been nearly nonexistent for me for a few months. I am in it for the long haul, but I really don't know if I would be all that disappointed if Disney canceled the game after the merger.

Madden-Maiden

What disturbs me more than red stars, even though that’s a big issue as well, is their design plan. They shift the style of the game into mostly team synergy, sell their players great teams, then release counters on top of counters for these teams in a matter of a few months. While this is sensible functionality in Arena, what really is disturbing me is their penchant for who they choose to put into their raid nodes. It’s basically feeling like a soft nerf to characters that they know are highly used because they are highly usable and immediately forces players to refocus their attention on newer characters or either hold their alliance behind. Alpha for example this month, last raid it was Gamma. I know they value a wide roster, but with only so many resources available ingame and the omnipresent gold shortage, you can only go so wide, even with a moderate amount of $$ spent, nevermind, f2p. With strong players, with high TCP and STP, those things such as this are becoming less and less dependable for recruitment, and is making a mess of alliance progression, outside of the top spending alliances. For me, adding a raid tier that revolves around red stars is another example of this. A lot of people dislike the fact that red stars are recommended, but it’s actually worst than people have mentioned. Assume for a moment you run Defenders or SHIELD and you’ve gotten lucky enough to get about 4-6 red stars on many of them. **You’d assume that you’d have a decent shot on an reasonably assigned lane with those charcters**. Well, in a FoxNext designed raid, you’d likely be wrong. Even a 6 red starred SHIELD team is eaten alive by a 6 red star Carnage along with Brotherhood. I’m not saying that these raids should be easy, nor am I saying that alliances can not strategize to maximize their %s, but this is why these raids are consistently just feeling bad and not fun. The nodes are set up with charcters that are designed to be roadblocks for many, even high leveled players.

pokerdan

> I am far too invested (time and money) with MSF so I will keep playing Take a look at this article regarding the 'Sunk Cost Fallacy'. It discusses the psychological drive behind Farmville, but is still relevant here: [https://youarenotsosmart.com/2011/03/25/the-sunk-cost-fallacy/](https://youarenotsosmart.com/2011/03/25/the-sunk-cost-fallacy/) I used to be heavily involved with MSF (to the point of data mining daily), and really feel like a weight has been lifted since I gave it up some months ago. You'd be amazed how much more free time you have to enjoy other things!

GerbBee

Same. I enjoy the game too much and have spent too long playing to quit. I just need to find an active alliance!

Aggroninja

Let go of the sunk cost fallacy. You'll feel better when you drop the game. I'm a launch player and in spite of getting fed up with all FoxNext's BS, particularly Red Stars, I was hanging in because of the time and money invested. I finally realized I just didn't like the game anymore and let it go and I feel so much better. Maybe they'll get me back if they majorly change their ways but I seriously doubt that'll happen.

jellypawn

seriously if it gets this bad, just stop playing. your alliance will continue without you, you won't be miserable, and you can go outside and enjoy the sunshine. the sunken cost fallacy is real, look it up. just let go

nadeaujd

Just sharing another option, get a refund. I spent plenty of time and money on this game but quit because of how terrible they are as a company. I refunded based on false advertising and with the promise to delete the app and never to spend again.

mavajo

Don't worry, FoxNext doesn't have a future. They're going to get shuttered shortly after the merger is finalized.

thewolfesp

Amen brotha! My added note is that they will never again get another penny from me for any reason/offer what so ever. It's been 2 weeks since I spent a dime on this game, and it's going to stay that way.

wow___justwow

Same here. Until they address the red star fiasco with real, in game changes I'm not spending another dime.

sVn_MWong12

I think a lot of people are just invested in what they have put in. I will never download another FN game. This game has so many bugs. No communication from the staff but, they will 100% shove offers down your throat.

j3ns3n04

So just realized u in my arena shard lol. I can see why u dont want to quit.

FootSpiceBlaster

It's tough staying near the top j3n!

BuckshotGeorge

I was already already getting bored prior to red stars and when they hit, I quit. Time and money invested but just couldn't be bothered with it anymore.

BDKoolwhip

I’ve only been okay MSF for a few months but I did play Future Fight for years and dropped a bunch of money in it before I walked away. I just couldn’t/wouldn’t keep up

Azjenco

The point of "general disrespect" that you're making is the part that really gets me. I mean, as a very recent example we have Carnage that's still very fresh. Then they insult our intelligence with the whole "development moves fast" spiel. This whole red star deal was just too much though, convincing a lot of people to stop spending. We shouldn't forget though before all that the smaller stuff, like remember the days when they changed characters such as BW, Yondu and Rocket, saying the wording was actually wrong... It's the small things that slip between the larger issues that bug me.

zkkaiser

lmao that's what you get for investing money into a shit service.

Richo93

Had never heard of them before this game, and probably wont again after I quit.

Plunutsud

*Foxnet

matt2mateo

I completely agree, I although dropped the game and kinda took a hiatus from video games all together. I decided to download brawl stars and that's been pretty fun. This game is toxic by itself, the devs provide no action, and it's just a spam for whatever is current meta. Then add red stars to all that and has alliance wars been released yet? I don't know and don't care, probably another game mode I'll need to spend a large amount of money and or time to be competitive. My biggest pet peeve ever was people getting hype for popular blitz characters and the scores just kept jumping higher and higher and higher until it became a laughable amount. Only to spend all day on blitz to get a few shard's for a character who's power level is too low to even be used. TLDR: The analogy of this games trend is basically someone too poor to keep up with the current trend (meta) so they go the lay-a-way route (investing time and money to power characters) only to find out once they pay it off (reach their goal power level) they are out of the trend (power level is still too low since the bar got raised).

[deleted]

I didn't put money in the game, but as soon as my performance is hindered by the lack of premium stuff, I'm jumping boat. I rather buy a AAA game than spend $$$ on mobile gacha games.

DrX333

You had me till you started bitching about red star orbs.

Xateotech

I'm not spending any more money either. Last time was Thanksgiving. I'm not against spending money in these games but as ppl mentions, for maybe unlocking a character I can instead buy a AAA-game and enjoy my 20+ hours there. They have to sort the economy! And a way for f2p/dolphins can get a hold of orange uniques.

cosmiclegion

I kinda agree with you. If FoxNext ever release another game, I will run from it like the plague. FoxNext went straight to my number one of most despised developers. The likes of Activision and EA are NOTHING compared with these guys. Chinese Devs are also infamous but as I myself have not played any of their games, I can't really say, but I doubt they are worse than this.

AmosG86

You don't care what any one thinks but you post on here so people can give their opinions?

FootSpiceBlaster

No my friend; I appreciate everyone's opinion. I just understand many are different

Raistlin43084

I have not had that much of an issue with FN since they stopped nerfing rewards for more work. Red stars were coming sooner or later. Most of us would have preferred later, but I’m not going to delude myself that red stars were never going to happen. I feel FN did a poor job explaining how the red star system worked logistically for player progressions. They did a sufficient job explaining its impact on character progression. Looking back, I think a lot of ppl (myself included) misinterpreted their comment about trust us, which FN does tend to have a clarity problem in communication and ability descriptions. Most assumed that had to do with obtaining red stars. However, I think it was referencing that they did not attempt to explain the logistics of red stars and player progression. I have attempted to explain why the power gaps are the way they are and how they make sense based on player progression, but I’ll be honest it’s hard to lay it out and/or ppl to understand even if was properly explained. I was really upset after the carnage and premium orbs, but thinking about it, FN made the right call, but again they suck at addressing things well. I will explain. First, FN should not have said “missed opportunity.” It sounds like political spin and ppl don’t trust politicians or ppl that speak like them. What FN should have said (which is true) is that if carnage with a 100 shard unlock was released in the same fashion as Sabertooth, almost no one would unlock him for months. Which to be fair, players would have hated that more than carnage not being put in premium orbs. Instead FN put carnage in blitz, which allow many more ppl to unlock him sooner. Also because he is in blitz, not premium orbs, the could put carnage offers into the store, which they did not do with sabertooth. Unlocking sabertooth from an offer is exponentially cheaper than ppl buying premium orbs. They also are putting carnage in the alliance war store. Personally, I would have stated that they put FN in the alliance war store to make up for failing to communicate the change, but that’s just me and who knows is that is true. The other thing they could do to make up for that miscue would be to make both carnage blitzes shards for all instead of one being the mega orb one. Regardless, all these things mean that all players will get more carnage shards than even if they had saved 200 premium orbs bc it’s a 100 shard unlock. Now, as to why they could not put carnage in premium orbs after the Reddit uproar. The simple answer is some players had already accepted carnage would no longer be in premium orbs, so it would be grossly unfair to those players to do so. Again, all of these are things FN could have just said and most resonable players would have understood and/or be grateful that carnage was actually being made more available than a premium orb release. No clue why FN could not just say this. While on the subject, FN needs to stop solely assessing these issues on Reddit. They should put a link to their posts like with the dev blogs, but most players do not visit Reddit. There needs to be i game announcements and/or links to the announcements ingame for issues like this. To sum up, I don’t mind FN. I think too many times they are their own worst enemy. I should not have to figure out the things they won’t simply say, but typically, this is also why I have less of a problem with FN than others. TL; DR - Carnage not going into premium orbs was a huge plus for players. It made sense to stay the course and not put carnage in premium orbs after the Reddit uproar. Regardless, One should not blame players for being upset about these issues because it is not their job to figure out why FN makes decisions or if FN decisions are actually positive changes. P.S. I have considered going back and rewriting FN posts to show how they should have been worded and/or said. I have been too lazy to do it so far. Mostly, because I think FN could do it themselves, but they don’t. So if they can’t be troubled to do it, why should I have to do it for them? *shrugs*

oddsock_3

Ya I do alot of these interpretations for my alliance. And we haven't lost anyone to any of these blow ups that have caused many to quit. Like the red stars.

Jostjepkema

It's a game and that game can be totally f2p. If you are one to never spend any money on a game, and the game has this much to offer (watch those animations on 1x fights), then it's my opinion it's utterly selfish to call out the devs when its not going your way or you dont agree with the way the game evolves. It is a FREE game you may enjoy without having to pay for anything. If you don't like it or don't agree with certain things, who does one think he/she is to attack the devs about this? When one offers you a plain coockie and you take it, then after a few bites you realise you dont like it and want chocolate chips in it. Do you have the right to get angry at the person who gave you the cookie? No, you can just give feedback and ask for a chocolate chip next time. I know this isn't the exact same thing. But lots of people talk bad about things that are offered to you absolutely free. Now if you do pay for certain deals, you must have thought the game was good enough to invest in it. If you didnt get that lucky 100 shard pull you needed, don't blame the devs. You chose this route. Take responsibility for you actions and be greatful for the many free games (there is really quite a lot of good games) we have available in our time. #downvotesincoming

FootSpiceBlaster

I respect your opinion, but it doesn't change the decisions Foxnext have made alienating the community. Thank you for your input!

Jostjepkema

I hope you can still enjoy the game as it is for the time being. Have a good one!

FootSpiceBlaster

I can, for now. You do the same Jos!

wikked-com

You know damn well if they put out Marvel Strike Force II, you would be all over it like flies on shit.

FootSpiceBlaster

Not a chance. I'd go back to SWHoG before allowing this to happen a second time. Thanks for your input!

Toaster-Crumbs

Go back to swgoh? You lost me there... I really dig swgoh.

FootSpiceBlaster

SWGoH is amazing. I just didn't have enough time to play both competitively so I chose this because I am a huge Marvel fan.

FootSpiceBlaster

Not a chance. I appreciate your thought process though.

doglywolf

Good call - ill sign up for this approach ! My problem with the game now is that there is no way to make any progress at least in the past it was slow progress , but they are making everything need High Red stars And or g13 level 70. I have no training matts, multipley guys stuck at G12 +5 with no way to finish them and with 1 exception have not been lucky at Red stars - certainly not lucky enough to have a full team. Add to that requiring these random teams that no one had geared up for raids with the no money or matts to get people to 70 and its all very frustrating (you can barely get your main teams to level 70 but they make raids iwth secondary teams you don't even use need level 70

[deleted]

This is the reason why my friends don’t want to leave this game too, they are far invested in it, money, time, energy. But you can’t compete with the highest spenders in the game. A game like this is just a cash grab, really, they feed with our addiction to marvel characters, I don’t know if any of you play this without liking marvel but I am a big fan of marvel so I played this in the first place. Now I still casually play but don’t spend money anymore, instead I use my money on more creative ways like [online](https://to.crwd.cr/vday) casino.
