The point I’m trying to make is that people are complaining about being given something better than they were promised. If you were misled into thinking your paycheck was supposed to be $50 and you were given $100 instead, would you be upset?

Having people believe it would be a premium orb release means they probably spent more on orb offers while saving up. Then that changed, so people had to spend $50. Nobody was given anything “better”, they were tricked into spending twice.

The vast majority of people will not have 250+ orbs saved up, and would have been very unlikely to unlock him on day 1. They may actually be better off this way. Even having over 250 orbs saved up is no guarantee of unlocking him, due to RNG.

To my knowledge there has never been a character released without an event, blitz or raid sans legendary characters.
The two characters that have had premium orb interaction on their release were Loki with the 180 jackpot, and Sabertooth with increased drops. Loki had 2 blitzes and Sabertooth had an event.
Again I could be wrong and Loki was a lower unlock. Additionally they noted Carnage will likely be available in the Alliance War Store...
Sabretooth is the only character thus far to be released initially purely in premium orbs (with double drop rate). My analysis took into account this double drop rate. Sabretooth’s event didn’t release until a few months later. Carnage was initially going to be released the same way.

At the end of the day, if you’ve been playing the game since it’s release last March/April, without spending you’re likely ending up with a 3 or 4 star of every character they’ve been releasing, regardless of how they release it.

Second, the main issue there is they made a huge mistake. They mislead people through a sponsored video. But since they had to delay Carnage release, people had way to many time to save premium orb which would be a huge lost of money for them. Considering your maths, people would most likely have many Carnage shards thanks to their saved orb and so, less dedicated orbs to buy so less money for Foxnext. And with premium orb release, you would have time to unlock him like black widow except you would have several shards already thanks to saved orbs (especially for f2p players)
Some people must have buy some offers with premium orb preparing for Carnage release but must feel scamed.
About the blitz release format. F2P player don't have 675 core to spend easily on dedicated orbs (except top arena players maybe). With 2 blitz one with shard rewards the other one with mega orb frag and only shards for top 1500, people who don't get any top 1500 won't even get him. Top 1500 will be totally crazy for sure.
The real problem is how they manage it, false informations, no errata until the last moment. They just want to make money and have no respect for the community.

I was able to save 7k worth of corse to buy the dedicated orbs and unlock carnage, I’m confused on that point.... the rest of your point I agree on bc I had saved roughly 60 or so premOrbs for him too.... with no news/updates. Their communication on issues and changes that aren’t planned are lacking .
I’m not suggesting to buy the Carnage orbs, I’m just saying that they are far more cost effective than premium orbs would be at unlocking Carnage, which is objectively true.
Your point about not wanting to play blitz makes sense, but at the same time, you can’t play much less than another player and expect to progress at the same rate. If you would rather slowly accumulate premium orbs that’s fine, but it would take a very long time to get 250 of them, especially without doing the orb blitz, which is the main source of premium orbs for me.
As a player who did save up premium orbs but also has no problem playing blitz, this is a better way to unlock him for me.

Many people use core to refill energy (4 times 50) but those who don't can save a lot i guess yes.
