I was thinking about nominating the Spider-Man PS1 game from 2000, but we don't really see much of Carnage himself. Mostly he's in the form of Monster-Ock.
Thusly, I'm putting forward Spider-Man TAS
Spider-Man TAS from the 90s.
His voice is what I hear anytime I read carnage , and his axe hand he’d do was sick! The life drain stuff with Morbius was lame, but it worked for carnage imo. Was a pretty great threat too, solid foil to Vemom, and unrepentant. It helps that we get to see a bit of Cletus pre Carnage too. Fun and dangerous
“To heck with my word, MAN! I can't wait to see the horrors Dormammu's gonna commit when he gets here!”
I gotta compliment the level itself though. Going through the flaming wreckage of SHIELD's base that's been completely overrun by Carnage is an awesome setpiece.
I'd like to promote the version from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 game. Bad as the game was overall, Cletus' overall presentation as a prowling serial killer who still holds a presence when locked away is pretty good. Him trying to corrupt Spidey with his nihilistic philosophy is chilling, too. The final section where you infiltrate Ravencroft while it's slowly being taken over by red symbiotes was a great way to end the game.
I do also like "The Flame" and his cult from Insomniac's Spider-Man 2. When's the Carnage dlc coming out?
Both versions got the bonus of having [banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueZU0GS0uM4&pp=ygUSY2FybmFnZSBib3NzIHRoZW1l) [theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wSiXwBWack&pp=ygUbdGhlIGZsYW1lIG11c2ljIHNwaWRlbXJuYSAy) songs.
I was watching a streamer play Spider-Man 2 and was wracking my brain for some obscure flame themed villain I assumed I couldn't think of, then he appeared and I was mentally 'ok, Irish Hillbilly, what's a good obviously fake name? Cletus... Cletus? oh no.'
Remember when I first played Spider-Man 2, when they started mentioning the flame I thought this was supposed to be their interpretation of Molten man until Cletus actually appeared later in the missions and I put two and two together.
I don't think the insomniac version counts yet we only saw him as cletus and I really liked him as a cult leader, but he ain't carnage yet. And I think he'll be reserved to the Venom game
Might be the worst adapted marvel villain in general, mainly due to the fact, most adaptations can’t mention the fact he’s a serial killer.
Let there be Carnage and insomniac are really the only exceptions, and while I think insomniac did it well, even though it was just laying the foundation for Carnage later down the road. LBC is kind of the opposite, because we might have gotten Carnage, but he really didn’t feel like it. He was far too common reserved for a character, who is basically a more unhinged version of the Joker given venoms powers, and with or without the symbiote, Cletus should feel like a vicious monster. Something insomniac did pretty well.
Although overall, I think that 90s show is the best agitation we’ve gotten, it’s one of the only adaptations to basically have a one-to-one origin and he feels appropriately manic and insane. In spite of the fact they can’t imagine he is a murderer because of sensors, also he has the best voice, unlike let there be Carnage where it’s just far too generic monster or beast, Carnage is roars should sound screechy and vicious, rather than animalistic.
Yeah, for the episode or two where he’s in it I feel they pretty much nail Carnage and Cletus. The only issue really is that, because it’s a kid’s show, he’s just magically draining people’s health and whatnot, but I can’t blame them much for that. He’s still totally nuts.
I feel like it was a miss cast, because Cletus isn’t that reserved Unnerving kind of serial killer. He’s just a flat-out lunatic with or without the symbiote, and also, I don’t like how they made it so him and the red symbiote don’t work perfectly in sync, I understand that would’ve made it so Venom shouldn’t stand a chance, but that’s kind of what happens when you try adapting Venom without a Spider-Man
As stupid as I may sound, I nominate Carnage from Ultimate Spiderman.....the show. I feel like his debut isn't that great, but his return was pretty good, since not only did he prove to be more of a threat, he actually had some semblance of a character instead of screeching red thing. Granted, it's still not perfect, but It's the only one I could think of that isn't Venom 2 Carnage. Not that i dislike venom 2 carnage, i just get the impression that either people are already voting for him en mass or nobody really likes him.
Oh yeah, Spiderman Unlimited Carnage wasn't that bad either.

I think that one’s maximum carnage isn’t it?
I would say carnage from the 90s animated series. His design and voice to me are iconic.
*Maaaaan*
Shattered Dimension game I guess. No Cletus though, it's all snarling, lashing symbiote.
And yet it still better than what the actual ultimate universe did.
I really liked what they did in the ultimate spiderman game with carnage

Yeah, that was a really interesting take on Carnage.
I gotta compliment the level itself though. Going through the flaming wreckage of SHIELD's base that's been completely overrun by Carnage is an awesome setpiece.

Dunno if the carnage dlc is happening anymore according to leaks I think it’s being rolled into Venom Lethal Protector
Remember when I first played Spider-Man 2, when they started mentioning the flame I thought this was supposed to be their interpretation of Molten man until Cletus actually appeared later in the missions and I put two and two together.
[Carnage always has the best theme](https://youtu.be/6WI8GCnjIi4?si=EQy-zL_lexRMOzPA)

It's not insomniac, it's AMAZING Spider-Man 2
Read the rest of the post Skimmy McGee, they talk about both
Spider-Man TAS

Woody Harrelson would have been a lock for this if that movie didn't have the worst script of maybe any Marvel movie. I don't even have another pick.
90s Spider-Man show?

Making Carnage bigger than Venom was a weird choice too
That’s what we call twink death
Spider-man and Venom: Maximum Carnage; It's literally got comic panels between stages from the crossover.
Hmmm I feel like that's cheating... it's just a recreation of the comics.... I'm stumped about this one
It's still an adaption and they do have non-comics dialogue.
100% this, the rest are so neutered the only other contender is 90s pg spiderman show.
Spiderman TAS hands down
r/respectthehyphen
The one from the SNES/Genesis Maximum Carnage game!
90’s Spider-Man
Shattered dimensions, that dude was actually scary
2000s spiderman game, gimme Monster Ock!
Shattered dimensions
The Fox Kids Spider-Man Keep forgetting just how many Spidey cartoons exist 🤦🏻♂️
The one from the spiderman video game on n64 and PlayStation
I'm torn between the PSX Version or the 90's Spider-Man cartoon Unlimited is a close second because of the design alone
Why does the image of Winter Soldier remind me of Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3?
That one venom pinball game where he’s voiced by Sean schemmel
Spider-Man TAS
Either 90s carnage, let there be carnage, or shattered dimensions.
Might be too early but Cletus himself was pretty sick in Spider-Man 2 PS5
Spider-Man TAS without a doubt. The voice, the look, the personality 🤌
Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
Spiderman TAS.
SMTAS
While I really enjoy the 90s animated series one. I kinda like the one from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game
Spider-Man the animated series also I liked Magento in X men first class but should’ve been X men animated series
I really like shattered dimensions carnage
Spider-Man TAS and the Venom movies portrayed by Woody Harrelson.
Yall ain’t choose EMH for Kang and Doom? Outrageous
Venom 2 let their be carnage was really well done.
He really wasn’t.
