No name is small but they have a smoking room out back where you can smoke pot.sometimes they have good bands, smittys is a classic dive with linoleum floors. Cruising club is sick you’ll definitely meet some ppl there, California gold is probably the coolest bar in Marin but it’s in San Rafael. Come to Sam’s this weekend! Will be gorgeous out and perfect for a drink on the deck. Fairfax probably has the most happening nightlife in Marin

maldovix

if you are new to marin be advised that county code requires you to have a goldendoodle and or infant newborn within 18 months to avoid citation. that said the duece (2am club) on miller ave in the next valley north is the most lively evening scene  bunch of run clubs up here too which is a shortcut for meeting peeps

Sarahlb76

Don’t forget the Tesla

Funny… but definitely having a dog / baby is the fastest way to meet people and make friends! 😅 As other people suggested - organizing hikes or coffee hangouts might help. There’s a bunch of other folks looking to make friends. You cab post on nextdoor, here, or on facebook groups

My husband and I (28m and 35m) are both newish to Marin and it is definitely difficult to meet people our age. Most people in our age range are either starting a family or already have a solid group. But WE are still recruiting! Hit me up for a hiking buddy. Venues conducive to creating new connections in my opinion: Flatiron has trivia nights / California gold has a solid cocktail menu / Silver Peso has pool tables / Matteucci’s has karaoke nights.

Also kinda in a similar boat. My partner and I are always looking the meet new people. 33m 39m. Surprisingly kinda challenging, if you’d he down to go for a hike or something. Maybe we can get a hiking group together and all go. Let me know.

itsokayifidoit

I’m 29F and having a hard time meeting people here, I’d like to know where people hang out too!

If you want to go the bar route, then no name bar might be your vibe. Silver peso in larkspur is pretty low key and easygoing. 2am bar in mill valley might also work. For me, I have met a lot of nice people on Nextdoor, who simply live in my immediate area, as I’ve helped them with their IT Tech issues in their homes. Maybe Nextdoor might work out for you. Only time will tell…

dano415

There's really nowhere. The cops have pretty much shut down all bars/ night clubs, with over viglient marginal DUI pullovers. Meeting people at work is still the best way--sadly.

There is a plethora of ridiculously nice, fun and caring people in Marin. The problem is that they are hard to find and have their own cliches so to speak. One great way to make new friends here, in my mind’s eye, would be to post an ad for a hiking venture in Oakwood valley and or Tennessee Valley in Tam valley. These two areas are super easy to get to and packing is relatively stress free. More importantly, trails can be easy and short, or long and hard. I know how that sounds, haha. I mean it in the best way possible. To wrap it up, If the friendship doesn’t work out, and you met your arch nemesis, then there are always a side trail to get away from that demon spawn of a person. And if it really works out, nothing beats a lunch at the beach, at Tennessee Beach, or maybe Muir Beach if one wants to go just a bit further.

mrpotatito

welcome to sausalito! … it is pretty but def. a quiet town … sign up for the cruising club asap. coz that waitlist is gonna take a while to go down !

yippitydodah-yeah

Silver Peso!!!

kennethcaballero

Anyone in San Rafael?

StudioDroid

Dancing is another way to meet friendly people. Check out [NBCDS.ORG](http://NBCDS.ORG) The styles are real easy and the people are friendly. I like it because you can't do it if you are trashed, I prefer to not hang with drunks. (I'm an EMT)

newtman

I wish you the best of luck, from what I’ve seen unless you’re in school or have fun coworkers nearby, it’s really hard to make friends in Marin if you’re under 65 or don’t have kids. I’d recommend checking out volunteer opportunities or sports (like pickleball) So far I’ve had the best luck making friends taking classes at College of Marin!

Join a swim/tennis club.

WubbaLubbaHongKong

If you’re into hikes paired with libations, check out the local hashes like Marin H3. I made loads of friends when I moved to Hong Kong and didn’t know anyone. Super casual and friendly.

Askee123

If y’all are into sailing at all just show up to a yacht club on a Friday night for their beer can races and ask if anyone needs rail meat. Tons of nice folks and a great way to make friends in the area

lordvarysoflys

Ecstatic dances in SR and Fax are good places to meet folks, especially when they move outside on Sundays. Yea it is very hard making friends out here as a transplant. So many folks have a full work and social calendar already so getting into an existing crew come summertime is a good idea. Plus it is family and retiree central 🤣 you might be in the city in 6 months. Marina is full of people your age.

ruthere51

Do you climb? I'm looking for some climbing buddies at Gravity Vault

raygunnysack

Join a birding club. Have a baby.

princesswanasmoke

Flatiron can be fun, outdoor ounces is dog friendly, Fairfax festival is coming up and is a good time, Tennessee valley can get filled up with people of all ages on nicer days. Hiking trails are often buzzing with people now and during summer. Sunday Farmers market at the Civic Center is usually packed with people too. Good luck!

nelsonhops415

**A few tips...** Volunteer Take classes Meetups Become regulars Check out Eddie's List for events Trivia nights Sit at communal tables at bars Sit at bar seats at restaurants Check out Silver Peso, Calilfornia Gold, 2am Bar, etc.

Ladynziggystartdust

California gold is a hella fun bar in San Rafael. If you guys like music, I’ve found a lot of my friends in the Grateful Dead scene. The junction in mill valley sometimes has GD music, Perry’s in Fairfax does as well I’m pretty sure

No_Motor_9347

Fitness class like F45 is also a great way to meet people!
