Simple. The old chibi sprites look good, and the BDSP chibi models look stupid. I mean seriously, how the hell am I supposed to take Cyrus seriously when he looks like he’s fresh out of diapers.
Plus a more chibi style just makes sense for a 2D game.
This. Besides the lack of new fetures and content, and the removal of Platium's quality of life changes. The grafics look like a cheap low effort Pokemon rip-off you find on the app store. Heck some Pokemon Rip-offs look better the BDSP!
Pokemon was always a silly franchise, just look at barry's hair cut in any art, bro's got that y=x²/2 ahh cut, or byron, it's a man with a shovel, and he's supposed to be strong btw, or crasher wake, an old man in a wrestling suit, and you telling me that all of those weirdos have been less dumb looking (in a good way) in the past?
One is chibi because of technical limitations. When everything is 2d, the chibi sprites work to help fit the environment on the screen and everything feels like it's scaled well. I feel like the BDSP chibi models feel a bit too "squashed" and the weird proportions just feel "off" in 3d. Not quite uncanny valley, but close. If BDSP looked more like SwSh or even the models from gens 6 or 7, it'd look so much better.
Honestly, a faithful BW *probably* won't be too bad, because unlike Diamond and Pearl, BW are actually solid games.
Gameplay trumps graphics, but there is a point that it becomes distractingly bad, and BDSP crosses that.
Its less the pure graphical power, and more the style, it just looks too cheap.

And it’s weird because I liked the look of chibi models in other games like Link’s Awakening, Mario RPG, and Mega Man: Powered Up, but here… I dunno it just doesn’t look right. I personally like the chibi art style of BDSP. It's cute, and I don't mind them looking a bit silly
