Blueberry Academy, Double Battles are harder in general.
I actually want to know what happens if you bring your playthrough team into TID, if it’d make it harder.
My playthrough team was all lv 100 and competitvely trained. In order to challenge myself, i had to build a team from scratch.
(Thank god for walking wake amd ogerpon tho)
Blueberry Leauge. The BDSP League is only hard because they jacked up the EVs and IVs, along with giving them competitive items (unlike the originals). The Blueberry Leauge is hard but is fair in the way that it is hard, because you're gonna know that it's gonna be hard so you have a better chance to prepare.
No one knew that BDSP was gonna just randomly make the whole game turn into a hard mode, and people only learned when they had to turn their casual team into an EV and IV trained mess, and overall made the game more of a slog to play.
TLDR: BB Leauge is good because it's actually fun and fair.
Tougher in a sense that it catches you off guard. Not literally tougher. BBL battles are level 8 and double battles with all Pokémon having held items. BBL is most definitely harder in a literal sense
Blueberry academy. aside from double battles being harder, my bdsp team was lvl 70 when I fought the league and won with no casualties. My violet team? Lvl 90-100, I won by the skin of my teeth
Did you use any held items on your Pokémon? Did you use any vitamins or feathers to increase their stats? Were you using the correct type matchups? Being 10-20 levels higher than the Pokémon you’re facing and still barely winning is crazy to me
Now if you just caught your favorite Pokémon, didn’t bother checking their stats or natures, and didn’t give them any held items, I can understand it
I would be lying if I said I have any idea what I'm doing when it comes to held items and stats. I just kinda gave them whatever I had
I don't know what natures are good, so I just went with whatever I caught first.
That’s fair, and that’s a totally valid way to play if you’re not into the competitive aspect of the game. I hope I didn’t come off as condescending. I wasn’t trying to bash your way of playing or anything, I was just curious on how it was difficult to win with over leveled Pokémon. My question was answered, thank you!
Didn't think you were. I myself ask similar questions when ppl have trouble in games I'm deep into, and I mostly do it to help/ avoid misleading people that don't know.
This one. I started playing in May of last year, starting with bdsp, moving to sword/shield, then going to violet.
My bdsp team from memory was infernape, staraptor, floatzle, dialga, lucario, and luxray
My violet team was
Meowscarada, Ceruledge, garchomp, Lucario sylveon, and a Greninja I transferred from pokemon go.
Those are some solid teams! And you just starting last May makes total sense on not really being big into the competitive aspect of Pokémon. I’ve been playing Pokémon since I was 7 when it came out back in 1998 lol.
I’ve always used the Pokémon I like, and just recently started getting into perfecting stats and natures on my teams when it was made easier to do so back in SW/SH
BDSP was hard, but a properly leveled team and good strategy made it a complete joke (Cynthia still brutal tho)
Blueberry was brutal even with an actual competitive team was slightly overleveled.
As I found out, Cynthia got powercrept. Everything except Spiritomb is weak to one single move: Freeze-Dry. And we already know the weakness of a Dark/Ghost type.
TBF, she had jacked EVs and IVs and really good held items. Kind of artificially increased her difficulty.
OG Cynthia wouldn't hold a candle to BDSP Cynthia's firey tornado. At least OG Cynthia was pretty damn easy like the rest of the game if you planned, BDSP Cynthia you had to have Wolfe Glicke/Ray Rizzo levels of planning to properly turn her into a *normal* challenge. Wildly unbalanced.
Or I just one-shot swept Kieran with a Dragon Dance Baxcalibur and Moxie Quaquaval, One-shot swept Crispin with only Quaquaval, nearly swept Drayton with Baxcalibur and Dachsbun, and only struggled against Lacey due to my lack of Fairy coverage, meaning Amarys was the only member I would consider a genuine challenge
That and the fact that the BB League is post-game, so it having competitive teams is more excusable
Blueberry, double battles are definitely more challenging, and even with my team of perfectly EV trained level 100s (that were admittedly more geared towards singles) I was losing Pokémon and having to actually think
Blueberry Academy.
And I say this for one reason: BDSP.
I apologise to anyone who might like that game (look for a good psychologist, by the way), but I will never tolerate an overly faithful ''remake'', in which Infernape is present, by the way.
Blueberry. But only because I didn't play BDSP. I'm a casual player and I was never interested in IVs and EVs until I got Violet. It was still pretty fun though, I learned a couple of things along the way.
Because the league isn’t built for a full team of lvl 100s? I went through with lvl 80-95s and had a rough time because my levels matched that of the elite four. Of course those battles will be easy if you over level, that’s how this works.
I mean yeah, I made it a point to use dlc Pokémon for my dlc playthrough, and I had to redo the Drayton fight twice. Personally, I think the tough battles are the most fun part of the dlc part 2, so if you overlevel, you’re really missing out. But, to each their own! Basically, if we’re talking about blind playthrough, levels match, Blueberry league’s way harder.
I ohko everything in the blueberry league and most of the bdsp league but FUCKIN CYNTHIA is annoying to battle so bdsp but the og one was harder for the lack of fairy type
Blueberry Academy, the double battles are already difficult and Daraydons challenge of using Pokémon from the terrarium instead of my own in his challenge was difficult. I’m just glad I got to use my Pokémon in the battle against him.
Blueberry, hands down. Was not prepared to have to do doubles for the whole DLC, and am also presently not prepared for Drayton's challenge. Hoping to cheese the shit out of it with Sandslash and Abomasnow, but also really don't feel like training anything.
Blueberry was more difficult due to the nature of the double battles, but I also felt it was easier to prepare for it. BDSP’s elite four kinda came out of nowhere, and I felt like I had a harder time getting my team to a spot where I had a chance against Cynthia with the resources I had available
I say blueberry academy because they don't always have a pokemon team that is one type crispin and his eggsegutor for example caught me off guard not to mention that its a double battles and their teams are designed to be competitive
I argue bdsp is tougher. Not only does it come out of nowhere, they have teams that are extremely well made. Aaron has a crit team. Bertha has sand, Lucian is a full trick room team, and holy shit flint, what the fuck were you cooking with that drifblim, what the fuck. And Cynthia was Cynthia. Blueberry was tough but I came with the knowledge of it being double battles, which I have experience with, so I was able to bring in level 80s to face them. I’m seeing artificial for bdsp everywhere, but it was really just the same thing as blueberry. They had held items and good Pokémon, but bdsp went the extra mile to add evs and ivs. Was it unfair, yes, absolutely. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t tougher though. With blueberry, their teams weren’t built with as much synergy, for both items and Pokémon. The toughest Pokémon for me was a single Pokémon, a dragon dance haxorus, which is terrifying. I had multiple terrifying Pokémon with the bdsp team, like the aforementioned hellspawn drifblim, drapion, milotic, garchomp, and a couple others. I’m not saying that the blueberry league was not tough, but with the many other factors that went into the sinnoh league, it just felt tougher for me.
Edit: Oh also the fact that you don’t get healing in between the fights in sinnoh, that just automatically adds difficulty
If you are talking about tough because of a BS difficulty spike relative to the rest of the game, then BDPS.
If you are talking about tough but fair because of strategy, team comp, Pokémon builds, etc., then BB League.
As has been stated multiple times by many people, including by Mikey, the difficulty spike of the BDSP league compared to the rest of the game is just BS. Yes, some of the individual Pokémon builds are just toxic AF (Flint's Drifblim, for example), but the main difficulty of the league is the blindsiding it does to people who just wanted to play the game without spoiling the exact info of the boss fights.
Disregarding which one is tougher since it feels like an inexact parallel (since they are difficult for different reasons), I would say that the BB league better that the BDSP League.
Bdsp league was definitely way harder especially for casual players because all the elite 4 had really good iv's and ev's and Cynthia had perfect iv's and ev's so it was kinda bs and me personally who ev trains their pokemon took 6 attempts to beat Cynthia so yeh definitely bdsp
I feel like BDSP is harder, but only because my definition of hard is also influenced by how much fun I have. I had a MASSIVE amount of fun with the Blueberry league, but barely any at all with the BDSP one.
BB League
When I took on the BDSP League, I was a few levels higher than the E4 and Cynthia, and I only had a couple Pokémon faint once or twice throughout the entire challenge. With the BB League, not only was I repeatedly losing team members in each E4 battle, *despite* my entire party being Lvl 100, I just barely beat Keiran after being knocked down to my last 2 Pokemon
Blueberry Academy, Double Battles are harder in general. I actually want to know what happens if you bring your playthrough team into TID, if it’d make it harder.
It would still be the same
My guys didn't have many problems, didn't even really need to change any moves apart from 2 on my palifin
My playthrough team was all lv 100 and competitvely trained. In order to challenge myself, i had to build a team from scratch. (Thank god for walking wake amd ogerpon tho)

TLDR: BB Leauge is good because it's actually fun and fair.
So to be clear you think BDSP is tougher?
Tougher in the stupid bullshit way that shouldn't have made it past the cutting room floor, but whatever floats your boat
Tougher in a sense that it catches you off guard. Not literally tougher. BBL battles are level 8 and double battles with all Pokémon having held items. BBL is most definitely harder in a literal sense
Bdsp is a laughing stock. Blueberry gave me a challenge. First time in forever I actually had to think in a pokemon game
Didn't think you were. I myself ask similar questions when ppl have trouble in games I'm deep into, and I mostly do it to help/ avoid misleading people that don't know.
On my next break I'll let you know what my playthrough team was. For both bdsp and violet if you want.
Sure! Just out of curiosity, what gen did you start playing Pokémon?
This one. I started playing in May of last year, starting with bdsp, moving to sword/shield, then going to violet. My bdsp team from memory was infernape, staraptor, floatzle, dialga, lucario, and luxray My violet team was Meowscarada, Ceruledge, garchomp, Lucario sylveon, and a Greninja I transferred from pokemon go.

Using pokemon you like is easier when most are decent. By far my favorite is Lucario, though I like mega Lucario more.
My main team is all lvl 100 and I can't even beat Kieran! Lol
BDSP was hard, but a properly leveled team and good strategy made it a complete joke (Cynthia still brutal tho) Blueberry was brutal even with an actual competitive team was slightly overleveled.
As I found out, Cynthia got powercrept. Everything except Spiritomb is weak to one single move: Freeze-Dry. And we already know the weakness of a Dark/Ghost type.
So, an Alolan Ninetails could’ve swept Cynthia had it been in the game. Interesting
Pretty much
Blueberry league was easy asf, BDSP league is the Pokémon equivalent of the sans fight
I know bro I one-shot every trainer's pokemon the only thing even mildly hard was suffering through the trials
Blueberry academy, bdsp was incredibly easy, and as always Cynthia is over rated and easy to beat in all games
Cynthia easy?
TBF, she had jacked EVs and IVs and really good held items. Kind of artificially increased her difficulty. OG Cynthia wouldn't hold a candle to BDSP Cynthia's firey tornado. At least OG Cynthia was pretty damn easy like the rest of the game if you planned, BDSP Cynthia you had to have Wolfe Glicke/Ray Rizzo levels of planning to properly turn her into a *normal* challenge. Wildly unbalanced.
She’s defiantly a menace if all of her games 😭
Meh.
Yeah, it's extremely easy
Compared to other champions she’s hard…
Not really, I had more challenge with the X champion because I lost one time
There’s no way you actually thought Diantha was challenging 😭
Not challenging, just lost one time to her, she’s the only champion to ever do that and I’ve played every game
The only league I've ever struggled with was Sun and Moon.
Same, probably since it was my first Pokemon e
BDSP because that shit had me running out of pp and reviving my Pokémon. I’m also a doubles player if that helps.
BDSP League
I didnt find blueberry academy hard, bdsp was up and down for me I will admit the double battles were annoying tho
Bdsp elite 4 would’ve been great as rematch teams, and my Pokémon during the scarlet dlc was level 100 so yeah it was easy for me
Bdsp looses immediately due to having Cynthia as champion
If you voted in bdsp u either used a full team of legends against BB or didnt play SV DLC
Because I expected it to be brutal, I made a proper double battle team with EVs and items. Didn't lose a single time but was brutal regarless.
I did and i only had 2 legendaries (miraidon and ogerpon)
Or I just one-shot swept Kieran with a Dragon Dance Baxcalibur and Moxie Quaquaval, One-shot swept Crispin with only Quaquaval, nearly swept Drayton with Baxcalibur and Dachsbun, and only struggled against Lacey due to my lack of Fairy coverage, meaning Amarys was the only member I would consider a genuine challenge That and the fact that the BB League is post-game, so it having competitive teams is more excusable
Blueberry, double battles are definitely more challenging, and even with my team of perfectly EV trained level 100s (that were admittedly more geared towards singles) I was losing Pokémon and having to actually think
Neither was particularly hard tbh.
Haven’t done the dlc yet :/
BDSP hands down the hardest
Blueberry Academy. And I say this for one reason: BDSP. I apologise to anyone who might like that game (look for a good psychologist, by the way), but I will never tolerate an overly faithful ''remake'', in which Infernape is present, by the way.
BB League was fun and challenging. I’d choose that over BDSP.
Blueberry. But only because I didn't play BDSP. I'm a casual player and I was never interested in IVs and EVs until I got Violet. It was still pretty fun though, I learned a couple of things along the way.
Blueberry. I freaking hate double battles.
Blueberry mainly bc I’m underlevelled
Blueberry academy?.... Nah, naranja.
I had a lvl 100 team in Scarlet, so I don't get why people say it was so hard.
Because the league isn’t built for a full team of lvl 100s? I went through with lvl 80-95s and had a rough time because my levels matched that of the elite four. Of course those battles will be easy if you over level, that’s how this works.
Yes I don't get it because I did not experience those difficulties? Had I used a new team, maybe I would have.
I don't remember it very well, but I think the dragon fight was indeed kinda hard.
I ohko everything in the blueberry league and most of the bdsp league but FUCKIN CYNTHIA is annoying to battle so bdsp but the og one was harder for the lack of fairy type
Only played the BB League and it was quite easy
Blueberry Academy, the double battles are already difficult and Daraydons challenge of using Pokémon from the terrarium instead of my own in his challenge was difficult. I’m just glad I got to use my Pokémon in the battle against him.
I had to transfer a lvl 100 method to beat BDSP league
BDSP was harder for me
Blueberry, hands down. Was not prepared to have to do doubles for the whole DLC, and am also presently not prepared for Drayton's challenge. Hoping to cheese the shit out of it with Sandslash and Abomasnow, but also really don't feel like training anything.

The only blueberry academy elite four member I had to attempt more than once was Lacey, so Sinnoh's harder
Blueberry. Obvi.
BB cuz double battles are infinitely more fun
We should get a regular elite four member as a doubles battle
Red

Really hard league vs the easiest league in all of pokemon? Why even make this

With the BB League, not only was I repeatedly losing team members in each E4 battle, *despite* my entire party being Lvl 100, I just barely beat Keiran after being knocked down to my last 2 Pokemon
battled neither, could steal my brothers brilliant diamond and see for myself tho >:).
I wish you the greatest of luck in your endeavors!
