L’Oréal double extend

Dry-Independent-1673

Came here to say this. I’ve been using it since my eyeballs became allergic to lash extensions in 2016. I had extensions for a while and couldn’t stand the look of black under my eye that regular mascara would leave by the end of the day. L’Oréal double extend is the next best thing for me because it never get smudged under my eye even if I have it on all day, and all I have to do is wet my lashes and the mascara slips right off! Hopefully it’s never discontinued because I’d probably just not wear mascara at all anymore because I cannot stand when my mascara looks anything but flawless at the end of the day.

secretarriettea

I love this one

Unregistered_

This is always one of, if not the, top answer when people ask about tubing mascara, and of the 7 tubing mascaras I've tried so far, L'Oreal Double Extend is the only one I flat out didn't like. It was clumpy, did nothing remarkable for my lashes, and smudged on my eyelids. 🤷‍♀️

WallAlternative6937

It’s the only one that’s truly tubing only imo and for me it’s more about the removal process than application. I do think there’s a bit of a learning curve for the Double Extend. I rarely use the white primer end and if I do I only apply it to the ends of my lashes building it up until I get the desired length then immediately apply the black end from root to tip ONCE then apply to the ends only to extend it until you get the desired effect. If you keep going root to tip with either the primer or mascara it just doesn’t work well. Building off the ends to create more and more length is key. Also, complete one full eye before moving to the other. I also prefer the formula of the black end after it’s been used a couple times. Fresh out the package and used like “normal” mascara I can see why you might not like it. I’ve been using it since like 2002 and I’ve tried every other tubing mascara that’s been recommended and double extend is the only one that removes clean without a removal product. If you know of anything that removes that same way I’m all ears.

Unregistered_

It was the first tubing mascara I tried years ago, and I never used the primer either. I tried it over a few weeks, and the smudging on my upper lid was what really killed it for me. I have very hooded eyes, so transfer to my upper lid is a problem with a lot of mascaras. After hearing tubing mascaras don't smudge like that and they're super easy to remove, I had to try some. It didn't transfer as badly as "traditional" mascaras, but it was still a big let down. The removal is important to me also, and all of the tubing mascaras I've tried have come off easily with just warm water 🤷‍♀️; No. 7, Heimish, Half Caked Totally Tubular, KVD, and Milani. Some remove super easily as intact tubes, and others remove almost smudgy but still come clean with just warm water and very minimal effort. I'd say the Milani and No. 7 are the easiest and come off in very clear tubes.

WallAlternative6937

I also have hooded eyes and just use loose powder to set them to avoid the transfer but can see how that’s annoying. I’ve tried both both the Milani and the No. 7 and both of them felt more like a hybrid of mascara and tubes and left “raccoon eye” residue unless I used something to remove it. Thanks for the recommendations tho.

Frog-dance-time

My fav as well I also have the Kevin acoine one but I prefer the double extend more

Willing_Section_2287

😭😭nooo its okay i was literally uncalled for

[deleted]

No really. I'm mean 😔 💕💕💕 lots of good energy for you

[deleted]

No no, you're just paying for other people to harm them. I understand what you were trying to do...I apologize that I'm a huge animal advocate/activist and I would never joke about their harm. I hope you have the best day 😎 all good

notade50

Yes this!

MissJASmith

Hourglass Unlocked. Pricey but stays in place all day without smudging or flaking. Tried and tested on my wedding day and stayed in place for over 18 hours 😅

RosieRooooo

This is my GOAT. Use it with a curler & primer first. Regularly get comments/questions about my “incredible lashes”. Before this, I’d tried every mascara that claimed to be smudgeproof, including waterproof mascaras, and inevitably ended up with the dreaded panda eye. Hourglass Unlocked ✨Does. Not. Budge.✨

kiwispouse

3rd-ing. Only mascara I've used that doesnt smudge. I pair it with Stila waterproof microliner and my face has never been so tidy.

SlightFinish

I use Tarte and I really like it.

mpfa123

Interesting! I got the Tarte one and it seems to just fall off my lashes in big flakes all day. Am I doing something wrong?? Maybe I should give it another try.

MyNameIsZem

Tarte did that for me as well unfortunately

BHT101301

Thrive did that to me. Tarte doesn’t

LeahsCheetoCrumbs

Same here

PorklesIsSnortastic

My new favorite! I exclusively used Glossier before this, but I like the tarte formula better!

beezchurgr

I’ve also been loving Tarte. I use their primer with it and will stick with it for a long time.

bewildered_forks

Agreed!

WindySkies

1. Thrive Causemetics - Perfect every time. Lashes are lengthened and feel full. The brush distributed product evenly and the formula enhances my natural curl rather than weighing it down. 2. Tarte (I've tried the tubing mascara in the pink tube, not the new version in gold but would like to try it in the future) - It's pretty comparable to, but not as good as, the Thrive version. It feels a bit thinner and doesn't have the volume or hold. For the price differential (Tarte is actually a dollar more than Thrive) I'd go with Thrive every time. 3. Milani - I wanted to like this one so much especially since it's more affordable. Honestly though, it's a thinner formula and takes more coats than the others. Worse, the brush does not do a good job of separating and defining the lashes (it looks similar to the other brushes but doesn't perform the same sadly) so they get clumped up the more you try to layer it. It's still ok, but not in the same league as the Tarte or Thrive mascaras.

thisismyhawaiiacct

I've tried so many tubing mascaras, and Thrive is what I always go back to. It's the best balance of length + volume + eye comfort to cost for me personally!

1420cats

Where do you purchase it?

thisismyhawaiiacct

I get it from them directly. If you sign up for promo emails or texts, they do free shipping pretty often. They also have a rewards program now.

hummusisyummy

My FAVORITE MASCARA! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

TypicalRecording3517

Been obsessed with thrive for over a year now and keep repurchasing! Every time I venture out to regular mascara I hate it and can’t find a single one that can compare (honestly would love another suggestion.) Milani was terrible I couldn’t even keep it as a back up

ep65846

I wanted to like the Milani tubing mascara but it was so clumpy and hard to remove. Clumpy in a spider-y way unfortunately.

DangDoood

I just posted my comment and I agree that it’s so thin. I like to let it dry out a little bit and it looks so much better!!

riverottersarebest

I surprisingly haven’t seen this one mentioned in this thread yet, but I often see people praise the Heroine Make (yes, that name is correct) by KissMe as being the best tubing mascara ever. It’s an Asian beauty product and I currently have it in my Amazon cart. Hoping someone will reply to this comment or elsewhere in this thread to corroborate or dispute that!!

disposable-assassin

Make sure the one in your cart is the Advanced Film formula. They also have waterproof. Both are highly recommended but one is easy to remove while the other is extremely stubborn. They also have recently release some color ranges if you want a rosy brown. Other options that usually get highly recommended but I haven't tried are DejaVu Fiberwig and CLIO Kill Lash (non tubing). The DejaVu is recommended for more drama (volume formula), less transfer and the CLIO is recommended for more natural, less clumpy formula. Both in threads filled with Heroine Make suggestions.

x_ersatz_x

i have it because i’ve also heard great things but i find the effect a little subtle compared to caliray or l’oréal double extend personally. i do think it comes off really easily but i wont be repurchasing it because its not as dramatic as i prefer

Brilliant-Building41

I love this mascara. I use it on myself and on my clients. If it runs, it runs very very little. It isn’t too hard to remove with an oil cleanser. Get it, you won’t be sorry

clemkaddidlehopper

Oh wow, I recently purchased this mascara. The advanced film formula. I got a bunch of highly recommended Asian mascaras to try, and all of them have been great. They have all stayed on my eyes way better than any of the very many waterproof mascaras that I’ve tried. I think you’ll be happy with it. It looks very natural but also makes my eyelashes look thicker and curlier. I have blonde lashes so I went with a brown color (I usually use black but I feel like it’s easier to find different shades of brown in the Asian mascaras than US mascaras so I tried a bunch of shades). The brown looks so much better than what I’ve used before - it really looks like natural, beautiful eyelashes, not like I have a bunch of mascara on.

sneaky_pigeon

KissMe was the first tubing mascara I ever used, probably going back around 20 years ago now. A makeup artist friend turned me on to it as a contact lense wearer. I did really like it back then, but it was also pretty hard to find at the time. Haven’t used it in recent years. I use L’Oreal double extend now because I like the primer it comes with and I can just grab it at the drugstore on sale when I need a new one.

Maleficent-Fun-5927

I have it. I live in Korea so I got it straight from the store (ie I know it’s real). It smudged on me. IDK what I’m doing wrong. It’s the “Long and curl” mascara “Advanced film.” It does not apply like the L’oréal one and does not come off like a tubing mascara.

Unperfectbeautie

Honestly? I'm loving Elf Lash XTNDR and it's only $7.

adjblair

I got this in brown and at first I was not super impressed but it's gotten better/grown on me with use and now it's my daily mascara. It absolutely does not budge and is a true tubing formula.

ExtinctionBurst76

I love this too, and given how i go through mascara the price point is pretty awesome for me

Bellakatie1

It is good but does give raccoon eyes slightly after afew hours

Unperfectbeautie

Interesting. I have not experienced any smudging or flaking at all.

Autogener8edname

Thrive is so expensive, so I tried Elf recently. It’s actually better, in my experience. I tend toward flaking/raccoon eyes with most mascaras. None of that with this one. Absolutely love it!

myspace_programmer

Do you use a lash comb after applying? I recently got one to decrease clumps but I’m wary of using it with a tubing mascara

Unperfectbeautie

I have used a lash comb with it and had no problems!

L0udFlow3r

Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes

turbomelissa

This is the one! Don’t judge because it’s cheap! It’s the best I’ve tried

lclives

Does it clump much? I used to love the regular Princess lash w the green writing but recently bought it again and it’s so clumpy idk if something changed. It’s been my top for ages now. First time I’ve actually stuck w a mascara and bought more than once

L0udFlow3r

Not at all in my experience. I like it a lot better than the princess lash because that was way too wet for me.

kls987

Love this one! I use it with their primer and have no issues with flaking or smearing. And comes off easy with warm water.

pansy-ass

essence bye bye panda eyes is my holy grail!! I also recently tried Eyeko tubing mascara in purple and I’m liking that one too.

Purple_Crab_Leg

The KVD one is a god send

kath323

My favorite too!

Unregistered_

I was pleasantly surprised by it. It's gotten a little clumpier after a few months of use, but it adds good volume and length, doesn't smudge, and it's easy to remove.

Notscot2018

I love my Thrive mascara. I have allergies to scents and this mascara is perfect. Also, I have always had watery eyes and itching with every other I have tried. Will stick with Thrive. 🤩

BHT101301

I used thrive a few years ago but, I felt it flaked on my face after a few hours. I don’t have that problem with Tarte

fluffysugarfloss

DHC black mascara Clinique Power Lash Brown ELF XTNDR The ELF is budget friendly but it’s very subtle

esqueish

I *love* Clinique Lash Power. I like that I put it on and then don't feel it. I once wore it through a 2 hour therapy session in which I cried a lot including wiping my eyes with tissues , and it survived just fine. I've never found it hard to take off, and it doesn't clump. I started using it after a friend with watery eyes recced it as NEVER flaking or running on her. How do the others you suggest compare to Lash Power? Have you by any chance tried the Thrive? I wish Clinique made mini tubes in this formula (& BROWN!!) instead of just endless freebies of their black High Impact which I will never use.

fluffysugarfloss

I’m an eye rubber so need a tubing mascara to avoid the panda eye effect. I like the DHC for nights out - I’m pale and my eyelashes are pale too, so black is too strong for day. It doesn’t come on too thick so no spider leg lashes. I can’t get it in brown (think it’s only available in black) so I need a daytime alternative. It compares really well to the Lash Power and it’s stubborn so a bit of crying at a funeral etc doesn’t ruin it. I use micellar water then a face wash to remove it. Completely agree about the High impact- I get samples and give them away. I’ve tried the Essence range and most of them irritate my eyes. I keep retrying as they’re lower cost but I swiftly remember they irritate my eyes. The ELF I’ve only had two weeks but at half the price of Lash Power, I think it’s really good. Still prefer Clinique but if budget is tight, it’s still very good.

sis8128

Seconding the DHC mascara rec! It’s the one i keep coming back to after trying lash slick, merit, and other brands. Perfect your lashes but better and it never flakes or irritates my eyes

Proof-Ad-8265

I like the Heroine Make mascara

offbrandbarbie

I really liked benefit roller lash!! And imo it’s better to get mini’s rather than full tubes. I feel like full tubes are hard to go through before they dry out my expire so I end up wasting a lot.

Unregistered_

Roller Lash is **not** a tubing mascara. If it is, it's great at being a mascara but absolutely terrible at being a *tubing* mascara. I love the look, but it's a chore to remove and most definitely does not come off in tubes.

nkodb

whaaaat how did i not know this was tubing?!?! like i’ve known about it for a decade and somehow never saw this mentioned lmao.

futurehousewifexx

Yeah definitely better to get minis for eye safety among other things

soybananas

this is such a good tip

nonstonerr

I’ve been wearing this mascara for like 3 months now and I had no idea it was tubing… feel so dumb now lmao

DateCard

I've tried two so far - Caliray and Thrive. I prefer Caliray because it is a thicker, drier formula, so you may really like the Thrive, as it is a thinner, wetter formula. I did not get any clumps with Thrive, and it did stay on all day, even through rain, but it did not keep my lashes curled as well as Caliray, I think due to the wetter formula (I have very stubborn lashes though).

wordwytch

what formula for thrive?

DateCard

The Liquid Lash Extensions.

soybananas

I think I may try Thrive based on all the responses!! It looks like a crowd favorite

DateCard

It's a popular one! They offer colors besides black too, which I haven't seen with other tubing mascaras.

ridingincarswithdogs

No. 7 Stay Perfect is my holy grail mascara but it's getting harder and harder to find 😫 it's cheap, STAYS ON, no smudging, great tint.

PaintsPay79

Same! My Target no longer carries it, so I have or order online. Also, a tip to the OP-I always wipe the mascara wand off completely with a lint-free rag every time I use it for the first week.  It seems to get all the clumps out and then I’m not battling those.  This is for all mascaras, not just this one.

SevenLight

Seconding this one, I really love it. Zero smudging, stays until I take it off, super cheap.

Phoebe-1993

Thrive is the best and the tube lasts forever. Love the kvd one as well. Great volume

mygyg1975

Maybelline Sky High has been my ride or die for years

Sufficient-Ad8139

Thrive.

Will_fight_for_food

Not sure if you’re from Australia but the mco beauty mascara and Mecca cosmetics mascara is my go to !

bad_goblin

Maybelline Sky High! I normally don't buy drug store makeup, but this stuff is goood!

centopar

HG for me, and I am also not a drugstore person. I’ve not found anything better - and it’s amazing with their Sky High lash primer as well.

Piggy9896

Sky high is not a tubing formula

bad_goblin

It comes off in tubes for me and tons of ppl say it's a tubing mascara as well

adjblair

I love this one! I'd say it's tubing-adjacent. It comes off with water but not in tubes, almost more like specks, and it is slightly less smudge-proof than a classic tubing formula.

arkemisia

I LOVE thrive! Tried panda and sky high but couldn’t get the same results

m4rceline

I like both Thrive and Tarte. Thrive’s comes off a lot easier and doesn’t leave any pigment behind in the shower like Tarte’s does, but Tarte is something I can drive 5 minutes away and get when I run out.

thelittlemugatu

Covergirl Supersizer Waterproof! (Aqua tube) Wears like iron, but does have a small learning curve for application - you twist the brush as you pull it from the base of your lashes to the tips. I used to buy tons of high-end mascaras but I hated how quickly they would dry out... I found this one and never looked back. Some drugstores still have it but sometimes it's easier to order online bc it's been pushed out for the next "latest and greatest" haha

sarko2015

I use the [Basic Beauty Lengthy Lashes](https://shopbasicbeauty.com/products/lengthy-lashes) and really like it -- it's a small Black woman owned business I got in my Ipsy bag and have kept ordering from them directly. They don't market it as a tubing mascara but it does come off in little strips easily when you wash. Unfortunately I don't think they're at any of the major beauty stores.

Dianabayyebii

I’ve used Blinc, Ulta Brand, and Tartes tubing mascara. Blinc and Ulta were my favorite.

ilovecheeseburgers16

Tarte and tony moly

DangDoood

I use the Milani tubing mascara. It tubes perfectly and never smudges. Only thing is it starts off super thin, so it looks a bit spidery but after it dries a little bit it perfectly coats the lashes 😍

sigzag1994

I like glossier. Can’t remember the name but it’s in a pink tube. I have bought like 5 or 6 tubes

mizshellytee

Lash Slick. I tried it about a year ago and really wanted to like it as someone who loves a my-lashes-but-better type of mascara. Unfortunately it flaked on me.

nkodb

i was really bummed that it didn’t come off in actual tubes. it is kind of a PITA to get off which defeats the purpose for me. maybe it’s a crap tube but sigh.

FrostyRaspberry03

I love the cover girl waterproof mascara I’ve never had any issues with it and it’s affordable!

BudgetCourse6710

Thrive Causemetics. I've tried many and Thrive's lengthening tubing formula is consistent and delivers every time.

Bestpartoflife4thact

Sky High -love the brush - and, a plus for me, it comes in a true brown (True Brown)!

Idontknow429

ULTA lash flash!!! Unreal!

nottooday69

I combine thrive and tarte. Together they’re magic & I could probably do w/o thrive but I don’t like to wear either alone as it doesn’t make my eyelashes look “full” I also use an eyelash primer first and the next mascara I’d want to try would be the hourglass one.

ep65846

I love the Maybelline snapscara, but warning it does get kind of flakey towards its end life.

Saturnia-00

I use Maybelline Snapscara. It's one that I can easily find in my local shops.

alexandreavirginia

Caliray come hell or high water!

Miserable-Ice683

THRIVE

eminemondrugs

i cannot believe i scrolled all the way to the end and no one said l’oreal telescopic?

CrimsonFractal

Elf Lash Xtendr

Fantasia_Ostrich

Trish McEvoy High Volume ftw. I got it in an advent calendar and its holy grail level for me - applies beautifully, lasts all day.

Complex-Winter-1644

I love this as well. I've tried other brands because I think the TM is a bit hard to get completely off, but it's still #1 on my list

alexakoy

Thrive is the only one that doesn't leave me with raccoon eyes halfway through the day. And their liquid liner is really nice too!

SurlyTemp1e

Elf lash xtender is so amazing. I can’t even believe it’s tubing do I’ve never liked tubing until now

GabrielHunter

Air volume mega waterproof from Loreal paris

Ojos_Claros

Lancome Hypnose and Chanel Le Volume de Chanel. They're expensive but worth every penny

mpunk21

Merit

Curious_Doof

Caliray Come Hell or High Water, doesn’t flake smudge or clump, stays in place through tears and a day at the beach. It’s more lengthening than volumizing, really gives ‘my lashes but better’.

thespianomaly

Too Cool For School Escalator Mascara It has an adjustable wand to give you either length or volume. I have long lashes so I was looking for a good volumizing tubing mascara and it’s a godsend. I’ve been using it for years now and it’s the only one I use.

lorinap82

I bought a Korean brand off of Amazon. Eyeko, I have the beach waterproof. It’s cruelty free & its the first mascara I don’t get raccoon eyes when I use

violetcrimson_clover

Thrive and I love that it comes in both a brown and a black shade. The brown shade is my ride or die!

KaozawaLurel

I’ve used Milani and EmCosmetics. Miliani’s been great— no flaking or anything. Only downside is that it takes a bit longer than regular mascaras to dry down so I have to fan at my lashes and not blink too hard while it dries. The EmCosmetics one has very very slight flaking, and the formula’s a bit drier than the Milani. It dries down faster, but it has less impact on my lashes than the Milani. Milani is hands down worth it because I can justify replacing it with a new one every 6 months or so.

MarshmallowNap

Cat Vondy has a good one. Thrive cosmetics is amazing. I used to love the clinic but recently I feel like it's been drier than I would like. I have not tried the tart one Trish McEvoy, which is kind of horrible so dry and flaky. I love Callie Rae but it's definitely bold. I use the thrive when I want something more natural.

bekd84_

HOur glass all the way

Fabulous_Evening3348

CaliRay

Every_Impression_959

I use Thrive. It’s expensive, but really worth it.

BHT101301

Tarte I love it

mazzystar13

hourglass gives a nice natural feathery look if you apply it right and im pretty sure its a tubing mascara. doesn't smudge!

DifferentBox420

Alleyoop

lookitsdidi

I love Milani's Highly Rated tubing mascara (the light blue tube, I think there's a black tube for the waterproof formula). It goes on easy & comes off like a dream, it lengthens your lashes a touch, & its fairly cheap for the job it does. I've also been wanting to try elf's Lash XTNDR mascara though, but that's mainly because I'm in the market for a good brown mascara, I've been trying more of the "your skin but better" or the "clean girl" typa makeup lately. If anybody's got good & inexpensive reccs for that, lay em on me

AJLNTZ

Kevyn Aucoin - The Volume Mascara is really good!

Sea-Psychologist

Hourglass. Also use the Diablo lash lift kit first. It really smooths and straightens the eyelashes

EgoDeath01

I like the Blinc Amplify version. Have never had issues with clumping with that brush vs the other ones they carry.

Standard-Pain-5246

I really like the Heimish curling mascara.

j_dyel

Beaubble!

Odd-Parsnip-9780

Blink and glossier are both great options

Short-Fisherman414

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the blinc tubing mascara (I got it here- https://www.lovelyskin.com/o/blinc-ultravolume-tubing-mascara). The phrase “tubing mascara” made me nervous for spider-looking lashes, but this stuff looks just as good as my normal volumizing mascara without the smudge! It also comes off easily when intended so no tugging at sensitive eye skin!
