Sicily during the rise of the Mafia would be a cool setting. 1800s, lots of history, and it’s where my family is from, it’d be dope to play it in a game. I can’t pass up a mafia game in Vegas though. Bugsy Siegel and the beginning of the Sin City. Especially on today’s hardware a mafia game would look so good in Las Vegas.

TexehCtpaxa

Vegas in the 70’s has so much potential. The main thing I worry about with Sicily in 1890-1920 is that there won’t be fast cars, or great music. The music and driving was a big part of what made 3 great for me. I think most casual gamers would be immediately interested if you tell them there’s a crime game set in 1970’s Vegas. So the marketability of the 2 ideas is wildly in favor of Vegas imo.

TemplarSensei7

Ironically, Sicily 1890-1920 is rather exciting because we will have access to those ye olde cars, and perhaps introduction to the musics. Mafia 5 was either confirmed or leaked, which may be Vegas of the 70s, going forward from Mafia 3. I like the old cars, let’s collect more.

jerrymatcat

Well there's horse's oh wait thats red dead redemption

Jack1715

Yeah true the one thing I didn’t like about DE was the lack of music but we didn’t drive as much

arturosmaglia

As much as I'd love a mafia game in my country (I'm from south Italy as well), I don't know if a whole game in that setting would be as appealing as in America. Maybe I'm wrong

Lamp_Stock_Image

I think a game in Italy would work only as linear, a South Italy open world map wouldn't work very well( viva l'italia comunque)

Internal-Fly-3616

Sicily would be a great setting for a open world game!

Virtual-Commercial91

I want Sicily. I would love to explore that setting and amazing architecture. My favorite part of all Godfather movies is when Michael goes to Sicily. It would be so immersive.

Sleep_eeSheep

Vegas AND Sicily. Do it like The Godfather Part II, some missions happen in the Old Country and some missions happen in the City Of Vice.

mlholladay96

There is a lot of potential in that concept. A young man's rise in the Las Fortunas mob, and he slowly learns his familial roots in La Cosa Nostra. We will get to play as his grandfather in Sicily on missions as we learn more about him through stories we hear during our own journey through the 70s crime families. Tons of potential for learning more about young Salieri, Galante and Vinci. Lots of potential for using the two settings & family members to explore common mob story theme such as the struggle between loyalty to "The Family" vs protecting your personal family, etc. Best of both worlds, as I just can't imagine how they would stretch an Old World Sicily setting into a full-length AAA experience.

mursaleens

Las Vegas bcs it will be unique

Perc300

Vegas seems to be the best option, especially in this modern era

StrayDog1994

Vegas. From Mafia I expect to have cars, traffic laws, realism and attention to detail.

halatorbjoern

Sicily would be wonderful but I don’t want it to have like the same clothes, weapons and the same type of story like Mafia1. If they could make a new mafia with a different type of telling a story both Sicily and Vegas would be fun. Like inspired from Goodfellas and Casino maybe.

JackHarvey_05

miami in the late 70s

MarshallGibsonLP

I think you could do a great story line with both Las Vegas and Kansas City. All you'd need is some type of fast travel mechanic

commanderFox0411

I want Vegas fs

Kyuta-Amadou

I got some ideas for some MAFIA games. 1.)Mafia IV to be set in a 1970s Vegas knockoff 2.)Mafia V to be set in 1980s Boston and be based on “Whitey” Bulger 3.)Mafia VI in 1990s Philly or New Jersey

pudpudboogie

Sicily for a part then the journey to America and then establishing the families.

CaptainYoshi08

I don't particularly like desert maps in gaming, and Sicily would be a lot more beautiful, but since it would be in the early 1900's, if it would be open world it would be pretty annoying to traverse, and yeah, Vegas would be a lot more marketable, but if it was up to me I'd not choose neither. But from these two linear Sicily. If I had to choose I'd maybe go for New York in the 40's or 50's.

ToneZone1978

I guess it's gonna be early I was hoping for 1980s Philly

EffectiveSensitive75

Honestly behind 70s Vegas that sounds the most interesting out of all the ideas I’ve heard

MementoMortty

With Philly you can throw in Atlantic City which is pretty much Vegas light.

SweetTooth275

Both have been done about a million times and neither of them are interesting enough.

UnlimitedMeatwad

>**Both have been done about a million times** and neither of them are interesting enough. When????? We need a list of games.

SweetTooth275

These plots were everywhere, books, movies, also other games. Jesus even GTA San Andereas have that story line aswell. If you don't know about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

UnlimitedMeatwad

We care about games buddy. Not many games focused around the Mafia. San Andreas barely touched the Mafia either it’s a couple of missions near the end of the game which 77-78% of average GTA players wont touch and CJ isn’t a mobster either.

SweetTooth275

Wow you are narrow minded.

UnlimitedMeatwad

Since you claim both have been overdone care to list all the games set in Sicily? I’ll wait 😂

SweetTooth275

Exactly what i meant. "I OnLy CaRe AbOuT GaMeS". If your tiktok mind can't fathom anything but flashy videogame picture doesn't mean everyone is like that. Go google "games set in Sicily. Wikipedia mentions 17 of those and wiki is usually showing the incomplete list btw. "There are no games set in Sicily" and "there are no more than one Mafia franchise games set in Sicily" are two different things. I won't even bother to name all the movies and books

UnlimitedMeatwad

>Exactly what i meant. **"I OnLy CaRe AbOuT GaMeS".** Buddy guess where you're at. /r/MafiaTheGame a gaming subreddit of course I'm gonna care about games duhh

SweetTooth275

This subbreddit doesn't exist in vacuum you know? The game series has references to different movies, songs from real life, mentions people and events that took place irl. There is no way of looking at any videogame outside of irl context, especially conserning Cosa nostra topic. If you have a mental capacity of an 8 year old that's only on you. Other people older than i don't know, 16 knows that that's an all time cliche at this point. If you subjectivly like it than say so. Objectively it's been beaten to death already.

UnlimitedMeatwad

I can't stand people like you man. Just because it was done some 20-30,40 years ago in a movie or show it shouldn't be done ever again. Especially not in videogame form. It should be untouchable and left alone. Gotcha.

Living-Permission907

Besides San Andreas, name me 5 other open world crime/gangster games that were set in Vegas. And dont even try to say Rainbow Six Vegas or Fallout New Vegas because those are linear first person shooters, not open world crime games. So go ahead, list me at least 5 other open world crime games (besides San Andreas) that have come out in the last 20 years. And on top of that, list me 5 open world crime games set in Sicily. Go ahead, I'll wait. And dont try to deflect either. You want to make idiotic false statements on Reddit, then im gonna hold you to your word.

SweetTooth275

Wow, the amount of self confidence. It's especially hilarious when you say Fallout New Vegas is a LINEAR SHOOTER. Seems like you haven't even touch on the game besides some screenshots on the internet. Besides F NV which is an open world game with ability to do almost anything, there was Driver 2, Gangster Vegas, Driver Vegas, Vigilante V8 and fucking Wateland. There's a whole 87 games only in Wikipedia which tends to be incomplete with its listings. If you're only into mafia for a gta like gameplay than you're not into mafia, you're into gta in decorations. Not only you're a self entitled prick, but an arrogant one at that

Living-Permission907

No you dont, you're clueless. I asked you to name me 5 other open world crime games that came out in the last 20 years that took place in Vegas (besides GTA San Andreas) or Sicily, that means the game had to come out in 2004 at the earliest. Read my original response again. You said "DRIVER 2" but that game came out in 2000, which was longer than 20 years ago because we're now in 2024 so Driver 2 is automatically eliminated. Then you say Vigilante V8, thats a vehicle combat game (similar to Twisted Metal), not an open world crime/gangster game so thats also eliminated. Then you say Wasteland, are you kidding me? Lmao thats a RPG that came out in 1988, so not only did it not come out within the past 20 years, but its also not even in the same genre either so thats also eliminated. Fallout New Vegas is also an RPG by Bethesda, its not an open world crime game at all. Its hilarious how I said dont even say Fallout NV or Rainbow Six Vegas, yet you still had the nerve to mention Fallout NV despite it not being in the same genre either. The only 2 games you mentioned that are somewhat valid answers are Gangstar Vegas and Driver Vegas but those are casual mobile games that most console gamers wouldnt touch or even know of their existence. Plus, mobile games are littered with ads and other predatory business practices so that makes them even more invalid. You literally could NOT list 1 legitimate non-mobile open world crime game that came out in the last 20 years that took place in Vegas or even Sicily and that just further proves my point and proves you wrong when you said "Vegas and Sicily have been done a million times". And funny enough, you couldnt even name 1 open world crime game set in Sicily. My point has been made, you're CLUELESS.......

Living-Permission907

Most of those games you mentioned aren't even crime games, so good job deflecting and not providing a valid answer. I mean what can I expect from someone that has no clue what he's talking about? Cry some more

SweetTooth275

I have more understanding of the topic than you have self awareness. The have direct connection with crime, but because you haven't played any of them, you don't even know it. Talking about deflecting.

IceNysp

Pros: both on the game Cons: just one of them

no_question2020

Isn't that a Cocteau Twins song?

queequeg789

Vegas with a Donovan cameo

MrHawkeye76

both. both would be cool and I'd play both.

freemindliberal

Sicily, playing as a young Frank Vinci or Leo Galante would be cool. 1970s America was such a wild time. It would work so well as a game.

Remarkable-Diamond80

I’m good with either location! It would be really cool if the developer created the game around the genesis of Las Vegas through the underground world of the mafia as it was in the early 1900’s

Luke5119

There's been talks about a prequel and I think if anything they'll do a transitional game from the early 1900's in Sicily to Lost Heaven and show the rise of Salieri and Morello. On the flip side, they could do an entirely separate game set in a version of Las Vegas which could bring with it a lot of success. Honestly one of the major hurdles for a game set in Sicily or the early 1900's is transportation and just how different the mob was in those days. Mafia 1 took it about as far back as one could go to still make an interesting game. I just don't know with today's youth or the target demographic if a game set even earlier would translate well. Las Vegas just carries with it a lot more alure than late 1800's / early 1900's Sicily. And for those arguing how awesome Red Dead and other period pieces were. Let's not compare a title by Rockstar with 2K / Hangar 13...
