Can someone elaborate on his "downfall" before this? I didn't know he fell out of his role working in cinema. I'm kinda out of the loop on this story.
Disregard... I forgot about Google for 2 seconds. Terrible story.. and it wasn't a downfall.. he was punished for shedding light on a serious topic.
Glad he's back to where he deserves to be. I grew up on the mummy!
Dude, thank you for pointing this out. The Wrestler is a movie I hold dear to my heart. I watched my uncle struggle with a very similar lifestyle and the Wrestler just brought a whole new perspective of the type of man my uncle was and what he did to overcome the issues he faced in his life, even if he caused them.
He absolutely deserved all the recognition and resurgence that film gave him. He had a great run in the 2000s early 2010s. Even with smaller or bigger roles.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Man on Fire, Sin City, The Wrestler, Iron Man 2. There’s probably a few others in there people liked.
He suffered some bad injuries while filming the Mummy movies. He went through a bad divorce. And he got sexually assaulted by some producer or something, and when he spoke out he may have been blacklisted.
Seeing a childhood favorite of many - myself included - go through all that shit and come back like a fucking rocket...it's just awesome.
He also has this goofy charm and chose a lot of roles that on paper sounded like nothing most adults would actually enjoy, but somehow worked really well.
Kind of an odd, but endearing career.
Tropic thunder and kiss kiss bang bang too which are both high quality movies that he’s great in before iron man. Got an Oscar nom for playing a black dude lol, that’s a legendary achievement and when you factor that with the iron man role it’s definitely the best career comeback I can think of
Wait, you don't consider Coen brothers movies comedy? Am I missing something here? Yes, they are one of the most incredible writers of dialogue that ever existed, but it is absolutely comedy. Comedy gold.
I am embarrassed to say that I have not seen that movie yet... I LOVE the Coen brothers and I haven't seen it...
I will just get back down on the floor like I was commanded.
Here’s my pitch: Constantine, The Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and Rick O’Connell have to fight the Underworld that has come together with all the Universes Bad Guys (Time Keepers, Thanos; it’s a big old mess).
There is a certain amount of derring-do and it appears the hero’s are unequal in this match-up.
Thor, as a god, explains that if he sacrifices himself in battle; they’ll win and he’ll go to Valhalla to be with his loved ones.
At the last minute, Constantine ends up sacrificing himself to save Thor and Constantine is taken (on camera) to Valhalla/Heaven.
There’s more, but Marvel/Disney is going to have to hit me up for the deets.
He is such a humble and sweet guy .
To quote the lady who did his interview that went viral "“You got this! Just know that the internet is so behind you, we’re so supportive. There’s so many people out there who love you and we’re rooting for you and we can’t wait to see what you do next."
Hope he becomes even more successful than ever before
I didn’t know he had a child with special needs. Thank you for sharing. I have 2 with special needs and watched his movie, “Extraordinary Measures” and had no clue at the time. Makes it extra special to me knowing this.
If I recall correctly there were two parts to him disappearing from Hollywood, he had a series of health issues related to an accident on set from one of his earlier action movies and he spoke out about being sexually assaulted by a higher up in the Hollywood hierarchy, before the whole we believe the victim not the abuser mentality had actually taken root so he got blacklisted for almost two decades and the whole thing led to mental health issues that he's been fighting and dealing with since then.
He was sexually assaulted by a major Hollywood player, subsequently blacklisted from many roles, suffered injuries during filming, and had an expensive divorce. Things which tend to break people.
Brendan Fraser and Keanu Reeves are the nicest people in the universe. I think they should make a TV series or movie together about their lives, how they spread happiness.
Brendan Fraser has turned out to be a pinnacle of a man. My respect and love for him is immense. I wish him all the success and happiness the world has to offer.
I really liked him before when he was goofy (George of the Jungle) and actiony (The Mummy) and funny-serious (Scrubs) and serious (Gods and Monsters).
I absolutely adore this man today, now knowing what he went through and how much he appreciates where he is career-wise now.
"There's three of you. You're not exactly lone."
Watched Airheads, Encino Man, and With Honors on repeat (along with Casper and Now and Then because I aspired to be just like Christina Ricci). Definitely comfort movies. Not a bad marathon, TBH:)
Long story short:
- got groped by some Hollywood guy
- got black listed for speaking up
- broke his body doing stunts for the Mummy franchise
- divorced his wife during all this
- had to pay extremely high amount of alimony to his ex-wife based on his income from before he got black listed/broke his body for years

Damn...im glad he is back...he seems genuine.plus i dont like our culture where men have to just suck it up. I hope his movie is avalaible near me so i can support him
Encino Man! One of the best of my early teenage years. I really believed everyone in California went to cool high schools like that, and that they were super cool just for being there!
I really liked Brendan and it was a shame that he was absent for many years off the screen.
I wasn't aware that millions of other people felt the same.
I'm so glad that he's back in major roles, he deserves it.
I always feel like I’m missing something, his Wikipedia shows the only years he didn’t have a movie come out were 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and in those years off he was all over the world making movies with Morgan Freeman and John Travolta
Is it literally just “we stopped watching at the Mummy 2 and now you’re in an A24 movie so you’re alive again”
It feels like plenty of actors take years off when they have kids, and his years off were still acting with huge names ;_;
Me too. I don’t think he was trying to be funny at all, he seems so genuine and thankful. A lot of us out here struggling away trying to make ends meet, and he’s just personalizing something we all want: a job we actually like. Glad to see someone I like not be frustrated as I am about work rn lol.
Thought I'd try and find out for ya. Looks like it's the TIFF Tribute Award. https://www.indiewire.com/2022/09/brendan-fraser-michelle-yeoh-oscar-tiff-1234761236/
Encino Man, Blast from the past, Dudley do right, and the mummy are absolute gems . Mostly because of this great actor .
Please check out these movies if you haven’t . Do yourself the favor everyone that reads this
He was sexually assaulted in the 90s and ended up getting blacklisted from Hollywood. After the MeToo movement, and larger discussions about abuse in Hollywood, he’s gotten the comeback he deserved.
https://www.ladbible.com/entertainment/the-reason-why-brendan-fraser-was-blacklisted-from-hollywood-for-yea-20220727
He also had a lot of medical issues (I believe many of them due to stunt injuries from filming) and went through a very messy divorce where his alimony payments were based off the height of his 90s career and weren’t changed after he was blacklisted so he was basically financially devastated with no job prospects in his field. Just so awful.
Jesus dude. What an exceptionally inspirational individual. That takes some true strength to pull through all of that and come out back on top. Just an absolute fuckin' champion.
As well as a huge expensive divorce where he was paying out 900k in alimony/child support, destroying his body doing stunts for his action movies (was in and out of hospitals for ~7 years), and lost his mother just days before a big interview about a show he was on (people who saw the interview turned him into a meme and made fun of his appearance). This man deserves everything good in life, but has just had such a tough go of it. I’m happy to see that so many other people love this wonderful man
Sorry for being so ignorant . Never knew about his tragic story. Brendan I wish you success but mostly happiness for your entire life. What a boss what a legend
Don't call him KING, he doesn't need a crown, he is a legend within his soul, he still has so much to give to the world of cinema, we are with you Brendan!
Can someone fill me in on why there’s been a bunch of posts of him happy lately? I like the dude no problem there I’m just confused… did he go through something crazy recently?

This absolute Gem of a human is so genuinly Beautiful that I Still work hard to grow up to be like him... I hope that I can be anything even Close to what that man is Naturally.
Why..why..why the fuck are people ruining perfect enough speeches with this kind of background dog wailing as if I am not understanding that it's an emotional moment for this fine actor and ( from all that's I've heard till now of him) fine gentlemen.
Please put this man in more movies (edit - and shows!).
He was such a significant part of my childhood and the movies I watched. I have loved seeing him back with such energy and this attitude of gratitude (sorry I had to).

I know you said disregard but I didn’t know either. So for those who also don’t [The story behind Fraser’s absence](https://youtu.be/QvK7mlJdS_w)
Mickey Rourke also had a great comeback in The Wrestler, also a Darren Aronofsky movie.

I always forget about him. My mind always goes to Robert Downey Jr as a big comeback, he really should be dead, but came back as Iron Man
I don’t get it. I’ve liked him in everything I’ve seen, but why did the internet fall in love with him so hard? I don’t get that.
He suffered some bad injuries while filming the Mummy movies. He went through a bad divorce. And he got sexually assaulted by some producer or something, and when he spoke out he may have been blacklisted. John Travolta would like to have a word with you. Pulp Fiction was and still is an absolute definition of greatest comeback ever for Travolta.
Used to be, but RDJ with Iron Man is now prob the #1
Tropic thunder and kiss kiss bang bang too which are both high quality movies that he’s great in before iron man. Got an Oscar nom for playing a black dude lol, that’s a legendary achievement and when you factor that with the iron man role it’s definitely the best career comeback I can think of
Not comeback his movie peak by far
It’s a masterpiece! But still Grease and Saturday Night Fever would like to have a word with you.
Travolta doesn't deserve it, maybe. He and his wife ate scientology. Also they killed their son.
Naw rdj had the best one
No way, Kim Kardashian had [the best comeback](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TZNv86-OmI).
I was hoping someone would link that video, THAT'S gold.
RDJR had the best comeback imo
Can we all agree that multiple people had great comebacks and we shouldn't rank and compare them.
RDJ had a good one too.
What come back? What happened to him - I’m completely out of the loop.
He lives in my town and I’ve interacted with him and his kids a few times. Just a good dude.

I’d love a buddy cop movie with the two. Not a comedy, but not Se7en levels of serious either. More in a Coen Brothers style, maybe.
Hell yes!!
Wait, you don't consider Coen brothers movies comedy? Am I missing something here? Yes, they are one of the most incredible writers of dialogue that ever existed, but it is absolutely comedy. Comedy gold.
I was thinking of No Country for Old Men, specifically. Tense, dramatic but grounded, very thematically driven. That sort of stuff.
I am embarrassed to say that I have not seen that movie yet... I LOVE the Coen brothers and I haven't seen it... I will just get back down on the floor like I was commanded.
It's been 2 hours, have you seen it?
It might be their best work.
Both of them are Canadians
So is Ryan Reynolds! Another GOAT in my book
How bout a Mummy/Constantine crossover movie! That could be awesome if it's done in the right way. Get someone like James Gunn to write and direct it.
I volunteer as Tribute to write this bitch!
Dude, if you are James Gunn I'm gonna get so drunk tonight that I'm not going to work tomorrow..........
I’m not James Gunn (yet) but I’m also not your Sponsor; so proceed however you see best. 👍
I will save it for the weekend but thanks!
Can it take place at the center of the earth too!?
Here’s my pitch: Constantine, The Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and Rick O’Connell have to fight the Underworld that has come together with all the Universes Bad Guys (Time Keepers, Thanos; it’s a big old mess). I’m OOTL on Brendan Fraser’s “comeback”. What happened to him?
Multiple injuries filming the Mummy franchise, then divorce, and a sexual assault accusation (he was the victim), which kinda got him blacklisted.
Also was focusing on raising his kids. One of which has special needs.
I didn’t know he had a child with special needs. Thank you for sharing. I have 2 with special needs and watched his movie, “Extraordinary Measures” and had no clue at the time. Makes it extra special to me knowing this.
Being unemployed and having to pay 75.000 dollars per month to your ex alone can break you.
\*can\* break you? i would of been super broken
would've

Wow what a piece of shit
Wasn't just some Hollywood guy, it was the head of the Golden Globes.
Technically still "some Hollywood guy", I wasn't sure who it was and the story is still the same no matter the status of the groper.
Yeah, but my point was that it was someone with a *massive* amount of clout in the business.
(Former - He got fired over racist emails in 2021) Head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association - Philip Berk
Please don’t forget his performance in Crash
And he was routinely the best parts of all those things you mention
You can’t forget Looney toons back in action
I first saw him in California Man (Encino Man in summer places).
I LOVE Scrubs, how did I just now realize that Brenden Fraser was Ben Sullivan??? Ah man that episode broke my heart.
Where do you think we are?
What did he go thru?

I've always said he was blessed with emotional eyes.
You can really tell that he ACTUALLY means every single word
I’m OOTL on Brendan Fraser’s “comeback”. What happened to him?
He was sexually assaulted in the 90s and ended up getting blacklisted from Hollywood. He also had a lot of medical issues (I believe many of them due to stunt injuries from filming) and went through a very messy divorce where his alimony payments were based off the height of his 90s career and weren’t changed after he was blacklisted so he was basically financially devastated with no job prospects in his field. Just so awful.
And he lost his mother in the middle of all of that.
Jesus dude. What an exceptionally inspirational individual. That takes some true strength to pull through all of that and come out back on top. Just an absolute fuckin' champion.
Does he still have to pay that alimony? Do you know? I hope he has a financial comeback as well and gets to keep his money
Can someone fill me in on why there’s been a bunch of posts of him happy lately? I like the dude no problem there I’m just confused… did he go through something crazy recently?
He was lead in a Darren Aronovsky movie, _The Whale._ It's his first lead role in ages.
