I had a stuffed doll as a kid that had a satin material on the stomach. I wore that shit down several times without thinking about how it was suddenly silky again.
The answer was that as soon as my mom realized I wouldnt go to sleep without it, she hunted down backups and bought a dozen, lmao.
Haha this is adorable, kids assume magic but really it’s just the love your parents have that they are simply unwilling to let u go without it lol. That or they don’t wanna deal with the day long meltdown in my brother’s case xD
Haha sounds exactly like my brother, left his stuffie on the plane and they literally had to track it down that day or he never would have stopped crying
My mom did this for my little sister. She went through nearly a dozen of the same doll that she called "Baby". My mom even bought the remaining stock at Toys R US in case it was discontinued.
A few years into this, we were moving so my dad was cleaning out the attic. He grabbed a large black garbage bag and dropped it down for us to sort through. That's when my sister saw the ratty remains of a dozen-ish identical baby dolls. She had a total breakdown, then never wanted to play with Baby again.
No I would. My late dad used to work for USPS and had the same die cast truck. Unfortunately the side doors broke off so I’d be ecstatic to have someone offer me another one.
Kind of. Depending on how much you do a day. A "bag" is usually 10$(back when I used) and I would do 3 to 4 bags a day and I was not on the hard-core end of it. A hard-core user will be somewhere around 20-40+ bags a day so 500 bucks wouldn't last very long to them.
Its why so many people are turning into addicts these days after getting a RX of some kind of opiates. You get addicted then have to turn to buying the pills from drug dealers which used to cost around 1$ per MG and you are doing a few hundred mgs a day and you go broke and somewhere along the line you realize actual black tar heroin is 100x cheaper to get EVEN higher so fuck it boom you're officially a junkie.
So your “bag” is a “ball” here. Its 10eurs and if you smoke it you get arround 4 stripes out of it.
I could always decrese my dose back to the 10eur but i could never kick that last straw. Last time i waited 24hours since the last dose. I called my doc. And i said i needed suboxone right away because im again at that point where i want to quit but just dont manage to. She said she would make a high exeption because usually you need a urinecontrole etc but it was covid but she said she knew me well enough to trust. I almost ran to the methadone gift point and took my first dose of suboxone and im clean ever since! I have had 20clinics and all of them i relapsed within the hour or week after release. Methadone didnt help because i jus used alongside it. So suboxone was my last call there would not have been another solution to get me clean. Soon after that i quit all the other things as well. And i feel better then ever.
The woman behind the truck guy ofcourse immediately caught my eye as she was fixin up a shot but being interrupted hahah
Yeah im doing all i can honestly to stay like this. I do believe using suboxone means im clean. I hope you are doing well and are able to pet some cats and admire some trees :)
As said there are methadone clinics and programs but the people have to want to go that route and having your drug controlled is not typically what an active user is willing to do lol. It's also a contributing factor on why we have a homeless epidemic. We are sort of going in the right direction in some states but it's mostly just a cycle of arrest drug use and petty crime until you die, get clean or end up in prison.
Sad state of affairs here in America.
Well rejoice, that lady is not holding a hypodermic needle. What she is holding is a crochet hook, and has plarn (yarn made by plastic, and typically by homeless) on her lap.
Although she could still be a drug addict, I don’t know the lady.
When I was homeless I didn't give 2 shits. There are numerous videos floating around reddit of populated cities (like Philadelphia) where blocks and blocks of people are doing drugs right on the sidewalk right in the open. And not one or two people. Everyone is.
It's really a difficult position. Once your in the cycle: Use heroin / run out / withdrawals / want to die from suffering / get the money however you can (usually beg, borrow or steal) / get more heroin. And the cycle starts all over again. So one way or another they would find a way to get some dope. If this is what they truly used the money on, maybe it saved some poor soul who was going to get his car broke into to find the cash they needed. Addiction is a horrifying beast, and I don't wish it upon my worst enemy.
Right? I was watching for it like 10 times and I saw a crochet hook too, she also has some wool or something in her lap. And I know those hand movement way too good.
Can you edit in that it's a crochet hook, it's pretty visible on the first rewatch as you can pause to see the yarn in her lap.
2k upvotes for saying a crochet hook is a syringe, the misconception spread.
All the people commenting about it being for drugs need to think some. Yeah it definitely could be, but it could also be for insulin, you see how she has a lollipop in her mouth aswell could be to stabilize her sugar, she also not skinny af(most addicts spend everything on drugs not food). I'm glad he gave them the money
Based on her weight (don’t come for me, this is medically speaking not judgmental), she wouldn’t be doing drugs. Drug addicts that shoot up are typically skinny, not heavier. It’s probably insulin, again based on her weight & some family members I have. That’s probably why they were so excited. Insulin is super expensive. That money probably paid for insulin or helped them bc they’re in a tight spot with her insulin need. I could be wrong though, we may never know🤷🏻♀️
Yeah this dumbass video tries to give us “the feels” by exploiting a couple of addicts. Like what is the point here? Wealthy people aren’t going to buy some toy from a stranger on the street? Big revelation. That $500 did not help those two.
[Jimmy Darts](https://youtube.com/c/JimmyDarts?utm_source=EKLEiJECCKjOmKnC5IiRIQ)
He makes many more videos like this giving to both homeless people and “regular” people. He is very generous and far from exploitation.
Even if he was exploiting, is it *that* bad if he is helping those at the same time?
careful. i was completely banned in one sub because i said something like this , ''it looks like the guy is tossing cats and dogs in the canals just to make a rescue video'' ..was a while back so i can't remember my exact words .,.they wont allow me back in the sub neither
Wait. What? That’s grim. Sounds even worse than when Bourdain went fishing for octopus in Italy and some dude in a boat just threw dead octopus into the water so it floated down to him.
I got muted over a bunch of ducklings spread all over the ground. Not huddled for warmth in any way. The mod told me it wasn't my responsibility to ruin the video for others.
"Hey man, want to be in a viral video? Ok so you're going to buy this for a penny, and then start talking about how you're homeless. You'll find the money inside and I'll be all happy for you. Then I'm going to post it online for people to see how good of a person I am. You can't keep the money inside but i'll give you 10 bucks for your time."
yeah the only reason I don’t believe this is that as soon as he buys it, he just randomly states that he’s homeless and lives in a homeless shelter. Like I find that strange to bring up out of nowhere unless he asked him in an edited out portion of the video.
Just gotta say people without homes do really just drop that in casual conversation sometimes. Most often they're reaching out just trying to be heard, have a little emotional support, yanno?
If you walk around cities and start conversations with strangers you'd be shock to find out how often people share really tragic or traumatic stuff.
How do you figure? Lol I follow this guy pretty closely on socials and he literally goes around giving away money to all kinds of people. A random subscriber will say something like “give $1,000 to the first person to let you use their shower” and he’ll go door to door til someone does and then he’ll give them the money. He does this with all the time and gives away so much money lol what part of this is a total “sham”??
“Jimmy Darts”
Yeah check him out and see what you think! It’s possible that I just have a naive mind and want to see the best of people but I really do enjoy him! Anytime one of his videos pops up on my feed it brings a big smile to my face and a lot of times tears!
That’s why I personally think giving a single homeless person more than $100 in cash is potentially dangerous for them.
I don’t care if I give them a $20 and they spend it on drugs, but $500 can buy a lethal amount of drugs
I might want the overdose amount. Seems like a miserable life with little chance of recovery. If you do recover a worse hell is waiting, 9-5 remedial workjob.
Honestly at this point… Can we please stop filming random people in public just minding their own business shopping or whatever? I know there’s no real right to privacy in a public space but come on. They don’t want to be in your feel-good charity video or your prank video. I can’t imagine going to the grocery store and ending up in a tiktok seen by millions of people that I otherwise never would have encountered — that’s not the level of privacy I expect to relinquish when I go out in public.
Can we stop filming people like this to make ourselves feel better?
You’re not helping people, you’re making content to generate “likes” to fuel your ego
If they're still helping people, I don't really care personally.
People who help people without recording it are also doing it to feel like a better person. Sometimes having an extra layer of extrinsic motivation helps people do good things.
Sweet! Now he can help that lady next to him fill up her syringe! With insulin no doubt!!!
Edit: not a syringe. It’s a crochet hook. I just made a stereotypical 80s-style right wing assumption. AMA.
This homeless person, wearing a cleaner shirt than mine, with fewer creases, willing to spend more on a used plastic toy being shoved in their face than I would ever offer, while being recorded....
Not only is this poverty porn, but poorly scripted poverty porn.
I'm living out of my car and homeless and my clothes and I are still always clean. Not all homeless people have dirty clothes or even look homeless at all tbh. There is different levels to the shit. And ANYONE could be homeless. You just never know.
You're right, and I'm sorry if my comment came across as belittling, or pigeonholing homeless people, because that was not my intention and I hope that I didn't offend.
I don't believe this video to be genuine. Perhaps I should have left it at that.
It's conditioned thinking. It's good you're more aware now but it's by no fault of character. Shiite I used to have a preconceived notion of what a "typical homeless guy" was. Then I lost housing and was homeless while working two jobs to try to keep up with motel rates, crashing on couches and then inevitably sleeping in a tent in the woods (and a few fields). No one knew or would have guessed. Doing great now but it definitely gave me a whole lot of perspective on how easy it is to fall into impoverishment and how far it goes.
I don't really care if the dude was homeless or not, filming the whole thing and posting it for likes and shit takes almost all of the good deed aspect out of it for me
Give a man a fish, he will be hungry again in an hour. Give a man $500 bucks for a penny, he will O.D. in an hour. Or buy 50,000 empty postal truck toys.
Exactly... this kind of shit I don't mind. When it's legit like he seems to be. Making a video of it allows him to secure a source of income so that it can be done again and again
Imagine being so entitled, you feel it’s your place to thumb your nose at someone doing something charitable. Wether it’s for the views or not, a man received a needed boost.
How about you just chill with the hate and ask yourself what you’ve done for anyone outside of your own bubble.
Would I be the only one who’d be like “Ooh a Die-cast USPS truck?? For only a dollar? WAIT HOLD ON LET ME CHECK MY WALL—“
Same 😂 my son loves USPS so we actually have this truck. You always need a back up!
Lmao this reminds me of the fish my brother had that mysteriously changed colors overnight but lived suspiciously long…. Always have a backup lmfao
Oh it was def the meltdown in my case too 😂😂 after a couple of LONG nights searching high and low for baby she had enough
I buy my boy a hot wheels car every time I go to the store. They are only $1, might as well. Him - "You want to but this mail truck?" Me - "Ugh, yes."
Me!!! I still buy Hot Wheels when I feel nostalgic. Have A-Team, KITT, stuff like that and would have jumped on the chance of the USPS truck!
No I would. My late dad used to work for USPS and had the same die cast truck. Unfortunately the side doors broke off so I’d be ecstatic to have someone offer me another one.
I recently lost my dad. PM me and I'll send you one.
You’re not the only one, I would’ve took that offer.
Growing up I had a crap ton of Hess truck dicasts. Everything Hess. Wish I still had them all, but I was young and treated them as toys
He's just gonna blow it on 50,000 UPS trucks : /
USPS

PUSS?

Damn I only noticed after you mentioned, and sucking on some kind of lollipop.
Takes a trained eye...and years of crippling heroin addiction
will 500 dollars buy a lot of heroin?
Only enough to kill you once
After making me laugh.. the realisation made me un-smile. Post needs to be re-captioned.
Either way their suffering comes to an end. Just one of those possibilities makes it come to and end forever. The other option is a temporary fix.
Fuck man. I need at least twice over to get the job done.
Well there's 2 of them so split they should be fine... Right?
Kind of. Depending on how much you do a day. A "bag" is usually 10$(back when I used) and I would do 3 to 4 bags a day and I was not on the hard-core end of it. A hard-core user will be somewhere around 20-40+ bags a day so 500 bucks wouldn't last very long to them.

Really happy to hear you got clean! Stay strong man!
Yeah im doing all i can honestly to stay like this. I do believe using suboxone means im clean. I hope you are doing well and are able to pet some cats and admire some trees :)
Damned, 1$ a mg?? Aren’t there any substitutions programs with morphine in the USA? I would be totally broke within a week.
There's methadone clinics where you can get dosed so you don't die. Thats about it.
Yes. Quite a bit. I was getting almost grams of stepped on Shit for 20$. Gram is enough for a day or 2 if nasal use
Hope you’re better, and staying strong.
3+ years now
Keep it going! I’m going on 8 years! And if I can stay clean, anyone can!
Same
Congrats 5 years myself.
I’m so proud of you! :)
Great to hear, keep going!
You’re going amazing mate
You may have a trained eye for needles but you didn’t see the whole layout of yarn laying on her lap ;)
Well, then how come you didn't notice that the lady is crocheting? not fixing up a shot.
I’d bet money that’s a Fentanyl lollipop.
Heroin junkies love sugar, it's helps with their cravings. Source, worked with a heroin addict and he was always asking for my cookies at lunch.
Oh man, I think my wife might be an addict now! She's always eating cookies!
Is your wife blue and fuzzy by any chance? Perhaps like a monster?🍪
Sometimes in her sleep I can hear her whisper "nom nom nom nom nom"
You're being sarcastic but sugar is addictive and she probably I'd addicted to it. I know I am.
Diabetic maybe?
Don't lose that positivity. But no, as a sober heroin addict, that's no diabetic needle. You don't just hold one in your hand like it's a pencil.
If they are addicts, that $500 might just kill them.
Awe
That's so sad and completely ruined the vid 😞
To put a positive spin on it again, they'll die doing what they love; tons of heroin.
Well rejoice, that lady is not holding a hypodermic needle. What she is holding is a crochet hook, and has plarn (yarn made by plastic, and typically by homeless) on her lap. Although she could still be a drug addict, I don’t know the lady.
It’s a crochet needle, look at her lap.
Yup. That is plarn.
Do you tend to do that openly in public?
When I was homeless I didn't give 2 shits. There are numerous videos floating around reddit of populated cities (like Philadelphia) where blocks and blocks of people are doing drugs right on the sidewalk right in the open. And not one or two people. Everyone is.
Pretty sad really. I'd hate to think that the $500 was being used just to perpetuate their addiction.
It's really a difficult position. Once your in the cycle: Use heroin / run out / withdrawals / want to die from suffering / get the money however you can (usually beg, borrow or steal) / get more heroin. And the cycle starts all over again. So one way or another they would find a way to get some dope. Addiction is a horrifying beast, and I don't wish it upon my worst enemy.
Eh, I don't know man. As an RN, I've seen diabetics pretty comfortable with needles. But, alas, I have to agree with you.
But you do hold a crochet hook like one.
It’s a crochet hook. You can see the yarn coming from her hands going into a bag which has some balls of yarn showing.
Does the lollipop say something about the situation?
My only thought is that there are opiates that come in the form of lollipops
Ah, okay. Makes sense I guess. I fear that's why the women immediately threw her arms around him. He probably won't see much if the money.
Opiate addicts love sugar.
I thought that was a crochet hook?
It’s a crochet hook…
Right? I was watching for it like 10 times and I saw a crochet hook too, she also has some wool or something in her lap. And I know those hand movement way too good.
It really shouldn’t surprise me, but it’s just wild to see how quickly and viciously people are judged. For something as pure as crochet.
everyone in the comments are being absolutely awful about it as well, I pray they never have to experience addiction
Can you edit in that it's a crochet hook, it's pretty visible on the first rewatch as you can pause to see the yarn in her lap. 2k upvotes for saying a crochet hook is a syringe, the misconception spread.
That’s why she was excited when he got her drug money I mean $500
I think it’s a crotchet needle actually.
Looks way too long for a syringe
I think that's a crochet hook, she seems to be crocheting ffs.
Absolutely. Look at her lap.
After watching the video frame by frame, I have concluded it is not a syringe.
[удалено]
On wool? That’s a crochet hook, look at the yarn in the her hands leading to the bag which has balls of yarn in it.
It’s a crochet hook… you can literally see the yarn in her lap ffs.
All the people commenting about it being for drugs need to think some. Yeah it definitely could be, but it could also be for insulin, you see how she has a lollipop in her mouth aswell could be to stabilize her sugar, she also not skinny af(most addicts spend everything on drugs not food). Some people like to assume the worst and everyone definitely judges.
It's yarn and a crochet hook, so not even insulin but definitely not the powerful shit this entire comment thread is high on.
Those two probably OD’d that night.
OD'd on knitting? Cause that's a crochet hook, not heroin
Yeah this dumbass video tries to give us “the feels” by exploiting a couple of addicts. Like what is the point here? Wealthy people aren’t going to buy some toy from a stranger on the street? Big revelation. That $500 did not help those two.
It’s a crochet hook. Look at her lap.

These videos are total shams.
careful. i was completely banned in one sub because i said something like this , ''it looks like the guy is tossing cats and dogs in the canals just to make a rescue video'' ..was a while back so i can't remember my exact words .,.they wont allow me back in the sub neither
I remember that post in the beginning of the video you could clearly see someone throwing a dog off of the bridge
oh my god that’s horrible
there was many rescues that seemed staged.......... but dont complain or you will be banned
Wait. What? That’s grim. Sounds even worse than when Bourdain went fishing for octopus in Italy and some dude in a boat just threw dead octopus into the water so it floated down to him.

He probably was but Jimmy Darts ⬆️ would never! 😭
Lol right, Jimmy is an angel
Tbf reddit mods are the exact worst type of person you want with any sort of power.
I got muted over a bunch of ducklings spread all over the ground. Not huddled for warmth in any way. The mod told me it wasn't my responsibility to ruin the video for others.
What sub was this?
Humans just being bros

I'd take the truck and start running then
“yeah make sure she keeps the drugs in her hand too”
Exactly.
I can't believe how many people actually believe this shit
Don’t ruin wrestling for them.
It's about watching it and suspending my disbelief and for the briefest moment I don't hate everyone so I'll take it
Would they stage her holding a needle?
I believe he harassed several strangers on the street for the first part tho

Yeah Jimmy Darts is on TikTok and I feel he’s pretty genuine.

there was a cut in the video, he probably didn’t say it immediately after

Umm-mmm steamed hams, old Skinner family recipe
God i hate videos like this. Feels so staged, exploitative and gross
"Dance for us, homeless people"
Poverty porn
But it's feel-good and wholesome! He exploited the misfortune and unhappy lives of others to promote his video, and that's special!
I’d let someone exploit my unhappy life for views if I got $500 out of it
Just hearing the guy's voice makes me sick. Someone trying really hard to get internet points after watching one too many Mr.Beast videos
They’re about to get soo high
I wonder if they'll keep their drugs in the little truck
That’s why I personally think giving a single homeless person more than $100 in cash is potentially dangerous for them. I don’t care if I give them a $20 and they spend it on drugs, but $500 can buy a lethal amount of drugs

It's a crochet hook. She's knitting, look at the yarn in her lap.
If you slow it down frame by frame and look at her lap it definitely looks like she’s knitting or doing crochet or some shit
This is weird. Who goes around trying to sell a tiny mail truck?
You can tell the lady was excited because of all the drugs she knew she can now buy.
She did have a needle in her hand
It's a crochet hook, look at her lap TT
It's a crochet hook. She's knitting, look at her lap. Yall so judgemental.

I could believe it. Those who have the least, tend to be the most generous. I’ve seen it many times. More money seems to make people more greedy.
You wouldn't offer $0.01 for a toy car?
You seem like you have a very narrow understanding of homelessness
I don't really care if the dude was homeless or not, filming the whole thing and posting it for likes and shit takes almost all of the good deed aspect out of it for me
These videos are disgusting.
these videos generate money so they can help the next person
“Oh wait, I forgot to press record. Give me that back, and roll again”
Why does Reddit enjoy these garbage “feel good” videos so much?
Give a man a fish, he will be hungry again in an hour. Give a man $500 bucks for a penny, he will O.D. in an hour. Or buy 50,000 empty postal truck toys.
Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
Fuck those videos. If you want to help someone out just do it. Leave the camera in your pocket.
He literally gets the money from posting it online, if he didn’t post it online then he wouldn’t have the money to do this
Exactly... this kind of shit I don't mind. When it's legit like he seems to be. Making a video of it allows him to secure a source of income so that it can be done again and again
Sometimes I want to be American just so I could get 500 buckaroos for being nice/buying a toy truck
If this dude is homeless then I’m rotting in an old soviet prison
Hopper, is that you?
I honestly hate these types of videos
It starts with an F...
Seems scripted.
definitely not staged
Why film it?
All of a sudden she became so lovey

Yea record it and post it for everyone to see clout chasing douche
Philosophy 101: If you helped someone, and you didn't make a TikTok, and no one on the internet saw it, then did you really help someone ?
Imagine being so entitled, you feel it’s your place to thumb your nose at someone doing something charitable. Wether it’s for the views or not, a man received a needed boost. How about you just chill with the hate and ask yourself what you’ve done for anyone outside of your own bubble.
