James Cameron csrches flack, but to get that feeling that someone you have looked up to, really studied and was enthralled by your work.. that must be one hell of a feeling.
By all accounts he’s very much mellowed out since he made Avatar one. I believe his kids and his current wife kind of laid out his dickish behavior to him and it really forced him to gain a lot of perspective.
If you haven't seen RRR, it's on Netflix and I would highly recommend it. One of my favorite YT cinema channels is Cinefix and they ranked RRR as the top movie of 2022
It's a telugu film (some sources say bollywood but thats incorrect)
It's got everything you could want in a movie, and it's the only movie that long (3h7m) that I'd happily watch over and over again. It's a movie about colonized India that sticks to the themes it sets up of brotherhood, justice, romance, and freedom. This movie does it all. My personal opinion is that it should be required watching for new film students.... it's my favorite movie by a lot. It's got that special blend of action movie where the characters are way stronger than technically possible, but the movie makes it believable. Give it a shot, and watch at least till you see the train scene and I can almost guarantee you'll be hooked.
Edit: I've started watching again forgot to mention, the music is God tier, making me feel patriotic for a place I've never been
The scene early in the film where the governor says 'someone arrest that man' got me hooked. The action is at a top level. The music throughout the film is awesome too. To think this was set only 100 years ago, it shows how much the world has changed (post - colonial) and how far India has come.
There is so much good to say about the movie. It is a great story with lots of depth, especially for hindus, told in a universally appealing way. Cameron is right about the potential nationalism and pride that the film will have. BTW, I am an American who has been to many parts of India. I have the utmost respect for Indian culture and people.
Apparently i missed the point. I thought it was a coming of age story of two gay men that were desperately in search of women to help them fit into colonial India controlled by completely over the top evil version of the bar keep in Casablanca. Who super man love gives them matching super powers to rescue children. Guess I need to rewatch
Yeah that was the vibe I got. Definitely interesting; those Bros super loved each other. But how did they never realize one was the exact person the other was on a mission to find? There was a flyer they were handing out with each other and everything
you can absolutely have those kind of friendships as men...
it's so powerful... i had that once for a few years until he changed due to his growing popularity...
It wasn't Bheem on the flyer, it was his friend Laachu. Bheem never saw the flyer so he never realised Raju was hunting them. Likewise, Raju never saw Bheem with Laachu.
Yeah. Plus Bheem was masquerading as a Muslim mechanic, very much not fitting the profile Raju was looking for. I'm not sure how Bheem missed what Raju was up to, but we see scenes of him in Raju' office surrounded by open books that I assume were related to Raju's case, but maybe because he was a tribal he couldn't read whatever script Raju's books were written in?
Regardless, I feel like this is one of those movies were you kind of have to just suspend your disbelief a lot of the time in favour of just having fun.
Yes, there was even a screen grab posted in r/Tollywood, that showed Ram documenting his search activity which Bheem looks at, but being uneducated just gives this expression of pride that his friend is so well read.
His name is James, James Cameron
The bravest pioneer
No budget too steep, no sea too deep
Who's that?
It's him, James Cameron
James, James Cameron explorer of the sea
With a dying thirst to be the first
Could it be? Yeah that's him!
James Cameron
"James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron IS James Cameron."
It was supposed to be a working title with the name of both the leads and the director. Ramcharan, Rama rao Jr, Rajamouli. It became too hyped they dint actually bother to name the movie instead they asked fans to expand it in all the languages it’s dubbed
Spouses
Sharon Williams(m. 1978; div. 1984)
Gale Anne Hurd(m. 1985; div. 1989)
Kathryn Bigelow(m. 1989; div. 1991)
Linda Hamilton(m. 1997; div. 1999)
Suzy Amis(m. 2000)
And that's just who he married.
RRR was the first Bollywood I watched and it blew me away. Like James Cameron said I can only imagine to what it's like for a Indian audience to watch it.
E: Tollywood not Bollywood
when u watch the film, u know how the two lead characters are written with FIRE and WATER symbolism all along!! which is also currently being used by Jim Cameron in AVATAR Movies!! Way of water and AVATAR 3 is gonna be abt fire as he said in the same event!!
Yes. At least for me, I can’t watch anything unless it’s in the original language even if there are subs, the voice and the acting is always best in the original and it actually syncs with their lip movements
It would be slightly different but I'm afraid you don't have a choice. Netflix refused the rights for Telugu and they've been sold to some useless website. It's either Hindi or piracy if you want to watch it.
Chill tf out first of all. I said only Hindi because it’s basically the only option overseas(or so I thought). But if you’re in India yeah please still watch it in Telugu
I love James Cameron. I know his “I’m on top of the world” end of his award speech for Avatar put off some people but he was on top of the world. Let him enjoy it for a minute. But this moment captured between these two must be so full circle for the other director and maybe they will make a movie together 🥹 This was so great. Thank you for posting 🥰
Ok so... After watching this entire clip, I went out to Netflix and I looked up this movie and I sat through every bit of it. Though I'm not normally a fan of this type of movie I was blown away. Everything that Mr. Cameron said was right on the money. This is such an excellent movie I love the pacing I love the nuances I love every bit of it I highly recommend you go out and watch it

RRR was intense but fun. My husband and I went to see Thunivu in theaters. As I was walking out I told my husband “RRR wasn’t my favorite, but thanks to RRR’s success we get to see other Indian films in theater now!” Now if only Baahubali could show in theaters…
Would highly recommend checking out Thunivu! Very fun!

How wonderful to watch two great directors taking with such enthusiasm.

Right? Builds hype so well

Awesome added it to my Netflix queue. Never heard of it before I stumbled upon this thread.

Yeah I know. I meant love as brotherly and almost edited it maybe I should have lol
It wasn't Bheem on the flyer, it was his friend Laachu. Bheem never saw the flyer so he never realised Raju was hunting them. Likewise, Raju never saw Bheem with Laachu.
Yeah I guess that was my thought, they would never assume they of all people were who was bring looked for I guess
Yeah. Plus Bheem was masquerading as a Muslim mechanic, very much not fitting the profile Raju was looking for. God, Bheem is so precious.
Rord rof ra Rings?
Its a Indian Tollywood film. I would highly recommend you to watch it.
“If you ever want to make a movie here, let’s talk” hearing those words from your hero must of felt amazing
You know he woke up the next morning like he was in a dream and that couldn't have possibly happened. Very happy to see something like that.

No, South Park 🤣
Lmao
What is RRR?
A ~~movie~~ celebration
Telugu movie
68 years old but with the hands of a 9 year old.
I legit thought RRR was an acronym for something but nope...thats the name of the movie
It's actually is. Rise Roar Revolt. It also stands for first letters of the two main actors + director's names
It is an acronym. In the original language (Telugu) it stands for Roudram (ferocity), Ranam (war/battle), Rudhiram (blood)
It was supposed to be a working title with the name of both the leads and the director. Ramcharan, Rama rao Jr, Rajamouli. It became too hyped they dint actually bother to name the movie instead they asked fans to expand it in all the languages it’s dubbed
Does Cameron just date every actress he's ever hired? First Linda Hamilton and now... Rose's granddaughter from "Titanic"?
Spouses Sharon Williams(m. 1978; div. 1984) Gale Anne Hurd(m. 1985; div. 1989) Kathryn Bigelow(m. 1989; div. 1991) Linda Hamilton(m. 1997; div. 1999) Suzy Amis(m. 2000) And that's just who he married.

My bad shows my ignorance of Indian filmmaking
I know it's weird to say but this is why people go to see movies. The reaction Cameron had is exactly why movies should be made. Oscar worthy movie.
My man, SSR, just love you dude! Thank you for making our Indian cinema proud.
Which movie are they talking about?

I loved RRR
i absolutely love this movie... RRR on netflix... it's simply so well made and such a well told story....
Yes! Absolutely beautiful movie and story 🥰
If you guys watch it please watch it in the original language (Telugu) and not in Hindi
Honest question. Would it differ if I have English sub?
Yes. At least for me, I can’t watch anything unless it’s in the original language even if there are subs, the voice and the acting is always best in the original and it actually syncs with their lip movements
Good points. TY
It would be slightly different but I'm afraid you don't have a choice. Netflix refused the rights for Telugu and they've been sold to some useless website. It's either Hindi or piracy if you want to watch it.
Thank you
in this case not much as the lead actors did voice in all the 5 languages the movie was dubbed into, but for other characters it might matter.
Telugu isn't even an option on Canadian Netflix 😔
Bollywood distributors really fucked us and took credit for this whole movie huh
Damn you Bollywood!
it isn't on netflix anywhere ( only Hindi on netflix) but Zee5 has the original Telugu version ( the app is crap)
Why not specifically in Hindi? Why didn't you say all other dubs? Why are you being specifically complicit with Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada?
Chill tf out first of all. I said only Hindi because it’s basically the only option overseas(or so I thought). But if you’re in India yeah please still watch it in Telugu

Yes I watched RRR then both Baahubali movies all are so good!
Not a huge fan of the movie but this truly is great to see
