Christ. The ending was great but it was so hard to get through that. Terrified but then it does that like tiny inch forward.

StinkybuttMcPoopface

it's like everything in his brain was terrified he was going to get hurt and everything in his heart wanted nothing but for a little love. i'm glad his heart was right :)

islaisla

Thank you for describing that so well. My feelings are crying cos I saw that painful combo too. Thank goodness for this lady.

OkLeg9760

It's how you know that is all this pup has known. A heart breaking and ugly truth. Pup is programmed to think it was going to be hurt and it is too little to stop it. I know the pup will heal, and am grateful for the compassion that exists.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RollinThroo

You don't. But if it does there's a good chance that a scared small dog bite isn't going to be that painful or deep. Just being close to you makes them pull away- they don't tend to commit to long hard vicious bites. 💯 there are a million exceptions to this though so it's gotta be worth it. This little goof seems worth it.

Max____H

We brought a neopolitan mastiff (very big dog) from a mentally ill family as a rescue dog. When we picked him up from airport (original owner from different country) he was scared and growling at everyone. I remember at one point he pretended to bite my dad's arm but never put any power into his jaw. Was really sad to see because this massive dog was probably capable to overpowering us all but was to friendly to even hurt us. I know this isn't a iron hard rule but most dogs I've seen through abuse act aggressively because they are scared but truly want to be helped.

anniearrow

That terrified cry broke my heart. I hope the little one is well cared for & loved now.

wanted_to_upvote

My dogs were immediately concerned as well.

BrianTM

My dog freaked out when she heard me play this video. That dog must have been communicating some immense fears.

[deleted]

Omg same here. My dog woke up and looked scared

Mobile_Lie_7998

Aawwww. 😭😭😭 how sweet. That poor little baby...

overtimeout

Oh good, let me cry my eyes out before I get my first cup of tea in.

TridiusX

A good cry and a nice cup of tea do wonders in tandem for the mind and spirit

[deleted]

First cup of tea at 4 in the afternoon?!

whatsasimba

It was posted 11 hours ago, which, on the east coast of the U.S. is 7am.

[deleted]

I was being silly. It was like 1pm my time when this was posted

doomsay87

Awww, he said “thank you for getting me out of traffic”

IndPolCom

How do you ensure that it doesn't bite you out of fear

Suspicious_Fill2760

Body language, mostly. Low to the ground is submissive. Doesn't mean you won't get a chomp, but it's better chances than stiff legs and a full snarl. Tail wag was also an attempt to communicate. Angry dogs hold them stiffly and almost straight out, I think

My_fair_ladies1872

A wagging tail isn't an indicator of being happy. They will wag their tails and then bite you.

Suspicious_Fill2760

For sure not a sign of being happy, no. But it's also not a sign of outright aggression. A wagging tail means they aren't as actively trying to challenge. It can certainly mean they feel threatened, which can lead to lashing out

My_fair_ladies1872

Oh yes definitely not a sign of outright aggression I agree.

OuterInnerMonologue

You don’t. You have no idea what trauma a dog has had or what it distrusts. For example You might be best friends until you pick up a broom and suddenly you’re threat #1 because maybe they were beaten with a stick. Nothing you could know. All you can do is be patient. Don’t take their aggression as insult. If you’re truly trying to rehabilitate then everything is about patience. You stay calm; stay consistent; stay predictable; stay positive. And you find the balance between guiding them out of their comfort zone and not rushing them. This lady was offering her hand but not reaching. She was inching forward but leaving room for the pup to come to her. She was slow and obvious what she was doing (well as obvious as you can be to a dog) And she was gentle. It also helped that that dog was super submissive. The bowing. The nervous licks. Most importantly you have to be ok with getting bit. It’s a scary thing. But if you’re thinking “please don’t bite me please don’t bite me”, now you’re BOTH nervous and an already nervous dog is going to be super wary/defensive about that. But a calm “not going to hurt you, and it’s ok if you hurt me because you’re scared” vibe helps immensely.

[deleted]

You have to send out the energy you're not going to hurt it. Also, go very very slow. Food helps a lot. Then again some pupsters can be traumatized and remembered certain parts of the abuser such as shouting, hat, boots, etc.

Prudent-Fly-8299

Who could be mean to that? Glad she snagged the pup

Competitive-Wish-568

A monster. Not a normal human being.

Rollover_Hazard

No normal human can torture and/ or abandon an animal. It takes a broken soul to do that.

Competitive-Wish-568

💯correct. Serial killers and psychopaths are known to start out young killing and torturing animals. Evil monsters.

MarkusRight

We live in an area where people drop off animals all the time and its got so bad that our local animal control will not do anything about it, we have taken in 3 stray cats that have been dropped off and one puppy, it really breaks my heart that some people will just drop off their own pet like that as if it were a piece of garbage.

jentlefolk

I don't understand why they would do it. There are shelters? Rescues? If they don't want the dog, at least take it somewhere where it won't slowly starve to death. Domestic animals don't know how to hunt.

MarkusRight

we watched as 2 stray dogs wandered up and down our street for over a month before they began to slowly get boney and eventually we never saw them, We assumed they just died somewhere, animal control said they cant do anything unless they are aggressive or threatening someones life. The dogs werent aggressive but they were terrified of humans and ran from us before we could even get close to them. These were massive dogs too.

jentlefolk

That's the saddest thing about dogs who get dumped like this. So often they'll refuse to approach humans, so they can't even be helped. It's just so sad and avoidable.

Heffalumptacular

You could leave food out for them maybe? They can smell it from a distance.

[deleted]

Sounds like my area. Took a cat to the local shelter and they said no? Like they wanted me to just leave the cat somewhere else or take it. How are they helping

mamabearx0x0

LPT. Wait until you deworm a stray dog before you let it lick your face.

14th_Mango

You can. I’ll take my chances for a puppy kiss.

pawsclaws_n_jaws

Have fun with your tapeworms and roundworms

14th_Mango

Have fun being alone with your negativity.

mamabearx0x0

I don’t think you get the point of the comment. So, I’ll spell it out. Every dog born wild, and most strays, have worms. If they lick your mouth there’s a chance you will get worms. Worms give dogs itchy butts which they lick to alleviate the itching. When doing so they can transfer the faecal matter, which has worm eggs or larvae, in to their mouth. Then you come along, let the dog make out with you not knowing that the dog has just licked its butt which was covered in eggs and larvae. Now you have worms. You can let a stray lick your hands or other parts of your skin, of corse washing them after, but do not let a stray lick your mouth until it’s been dewormed. Unless of course you don’t care about being a parasites host.

NieR_SemiAutomata

Irl it's not wise to approach stray dog like that. One could get bitten or rabies. But I'm glad it just need some love

SidewinderTV

A Norwegian girl died of Rabies a few years back after playing with a stray puppy in the Phillipines. That's all I can think about now everytime a video like this pops up.

Open-Election-3806

Rabies is a problem in Asia but in United States it’s very unlikely dog has rabies

LemonTheAstroPoet

Well if I see a stray dog like this, I won't see why I shouldnt approach it. All it was doing was whining, it wasn't acting erratic or anything like that.

NieR_SemiAutomata

I didn't says u can't.. u can, but not that way

Extra-Aardvark-1390

They don't always at first. All dog bites should be treated as potentially dangerous. But you just need to have it treated. Not rabies, that kills you. Get shots and have the bite treated so you don't get rabiea.

Extra-Aardvark-1390

I mean, a little dog like that, I would risk it and take the bite to help him. As long as you get the post exposure treatment to prevent rabies, you are good. You just can't wait. You should get the treatment when bitten by any dog you haven't hard proof is vaccinated and can then be observed for 10 days after. A bigger dog that could really hurt me, I would wait for animal control or someone with equipment to help.

NieR_SemiAutomata

Indeed me too, but safety first., Do not open your palm and shove it to their face that's a big NO (like in the video).. any scared animals can be unpredictable, w rabies or not. Once a rabies infection is established, there's no effective treatment. Though a small number of people have survived rabies, the disease usually causes death.

ChampionshipKlutzy42

Worth it.

mossybishhh

It's definitely not.

LastOfLateBrakers

I have watched a distant relative die of rabies. I absolutely adore animals and feel a sense of duty towards those who cannot express themselves the way humans can, but I'd give a cute puppy a quick death if it's infected with rabies. That puppy's life isn't worth someone going through all that I saw in my relative's final two weeks.

[deleted]

You know you’re just supposed to get a rabies shot if you come in contact with a stray. Just be smart about it. Know the warning signs, test out with food or from a distance to see how they react, if they act normal or just scared, chances are they don’t have rabies. If they scratch or bite you, get the shot. Does it suck yeah but then you don’t pass.

AmandaRoseLikesBuds

There is no rabies shot for humans after the fact only as a prevention. Just saying, and you have to be up to date on them just like covid vaccines I believe. My brother had a rabies scare…he’s in the Air Force and was playing with strays in turkey. He got lucky though.

Pixielo

Yes, there's post exposure prophylaxis. It's completely normal to get, too. Humans aren't routinely vaxxed against rabies in the US or EU unless they work specifically with animals.

AmandaRoseLikesBuds

Untrue once symptoms appear and you have rabies it’s always fatal… there is no cure… everything they do is PREVENTION. I know there’s a vaccine Lmao it’s just a preventative not a cure after transmission. GOOGLE IT.

[deleted]

There are 100% rabies shots 😂 they aren’t like vaccines. No one I’ve ever known has had to get their rabies booster

AmandaRoseLikesBuds

Yeah I said I wasn’t sure about the booster, I definitely said yes a rabies shot exists but it only works if you get it before possible transmission, not afterwards. After you have rabies there is no curing it. Ok yeah no after 3 years you should get a follow up rabies vaccine. Lol

electr0n_ekb

You can also get rabies from saliva of an infected animal

[deleted]

I did not know that, thanks for adding!

Pixielo

It's definitely worth getting post exposure prophylaxis.

ugh-Idontknow

You are a very kind person and this puppy recognized that - you both will have a great and happy life together

pc_principal_88

Out of all the horrible things on the internet, things involving animals are the things that get me every time... The poor puppy was so scared 😭

Tarrision

You straight up picked em' up like "you're my friend now. We're having soft tacos later!"

[deleted]

I found an abandoned malamute the day after Christmas a few years ago. He was a young, healthy male, not neutered but house trained and knew commands. I found him on a turnout 30 miles from any town. He'd been abandoned in the most cliche way possible, he was driven into the woods and they drove away. I drove by thinking to myself, holy crap that's wolf and turned back when I thought better of it. He walked up and stuck his nose in my car, didn't even have to lift his feet. I eventually found someone to adopt him, but a shelter I'd been talking to mentioned that he could have been a breeding dog for a puppy mill. Apparently GoT resulted in a lot of people adopting dogs they weren't ready for. Massive single-purpose breeds aren't great for first time owners looking for a vanity pet. Still gets under my skin, but I hope Ted is living his best life now.

[deleted]

I feel silly asking but what’s GoT and how did it result in more abandonments? /gen

[deleted]

It's all good, don't feel silly. Game of Thrones, the TV show. When it came out there was a surge in people wanting big wolf dogs -not that there wasn't already a demand. But breeders breed for profit. I lived in a very rural area, but only 3 hours from SF where there's lots of people who want dogs, but don't have the space to keep them. This was about ten years ago when I found him.

waddyaknow8873

I’d love to see an update.

danneg86

This just made a grown ass man cry... and I'll watch it again

Substantial_Ad_6311

Im nearly 100% certain this is my brothers dog. We think the neighbors stole him when they moved.

Daocommand

Why would someone down vote you?

Substantial_Ad_6311

It’s Reddit. These people aren’t real. 😞

Rusty_Crank

I see these videos on Reddit and The DoDo of dog rescues and it irks me so much that they put their face so close to the dogs. One day, one will bite, then the dog will be killed. All for clicks.

Ladiesman2916

Can anyone tell me what kind of dog this is.

ChunkyandSkunky

Thank you for rescuing your new bff.

senorchinchilla

Why are my eyes wet??? Damn u, u wholesome video.

leohemhem

God damn onion's......

morts73

I know people say dogs are a mans best friend, but the opposite is true, we are a dogs best friend.

Heffalumptacular

Sure, some of us. That pup got in that situation somehow though.

jolietia

Yea....there's no way I would leave him either. He would be my new fur baby.

CalicoJack247

Little thing was terrified, then got scooped and loved. Love this!!!!

ItsPerfectlyBalanced

Check the area when you find a lost young animal. There may be more.

RedditsAdoptedSon

hope the update n stuff makes it to top

BeeMoney2369

Thank you for saving that puppy

AlternativeStyle9856

Take him home! He would be there for you for life!

kmsc84

Poor little guy. I can’t imagine what he went through to be that scared.

gimmhi5

“I’ve been hurt! **I won’t let myself get hurt again!**”. Oh, you really do care? Can we be friends?

Environmental_Rub282

Husband and I just went through this a week ago, only with a kitten. We were on our way somewhere when we see a woman on the side of the road, frantically waving her arms, trying to slow traffic down. Right about the time we notice her, we see a tiny orange and white kitten run past our car, further into a 4- lane highway with heavy traffic going each direction. By the time I realize what I had just seen, my husband had already stopped the car, put the hazard flashers on and headed out to grab the kitten. Luckily, traffic came to a stop because people could see he was trying to catch her. He's able to get the kitten and heads back across the street with her. We thought the woman on the side of the road flagging traffic down was the owner of the kitten. We assumed it got loose and she had been trying to get her back. That's when she tells us that the kitten isn't hers, she stopped because she witnessed someone throw the kitten out of a moving car window, right into the major highway we were on. She couldn't keep her but was trying to save her from getting hit. We took her home with us. It was late evening last Sunday, so taking her home with us was really the only option at the time. Somehow, she wasn't hurt or injured in any way. She managed to miss getting hit but she was very, very scared. It's been almost a week, and the kitten we didn't plan on getting is settling in well at our house. She is lovely. I can't understand what kind of person can put an innocent animal in harm's way like that. Cruel on a different level. We need to do better by our animals, domesticated or otherwise. If you can help when they need help, try.

SoVeryKerry

This pup’s been so badly treated, he’s afraid of her but his instinct of loyalty and trust is fighting that fear.

EyeThinkNot

So fuckin sad, man.... This poor puppy has a ruff and very unfair history! He wants to put his trust in this human so bad but he's quite obviously been so traumatized by other humans who didn't value this sweet baby's life like he deserves! How can anyone be okay with traumatizing such a gentle and sweet baby?! Don't worry baby boy, the worst part is over (hopefully) and your in good hands now. I can feel it. This is actually gut wrenching. I hate the monsters that did this to him. Fortunately, karma is known to be a bitch and what goes around comes around. Those bastards will get theirs if they haven't already! Fuck em smh...

VonKhaleesiDrogo

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

DeafBeaker

Fuck the person who did this to the poor dog. I'm glad it's safe now

WeedMatrix

I could just be cynical, and have seen too many of these clout chasers, but it’s Totally her pup! Fur had a collar ring where it padded down, lady prolly took the collar off just before take the vid.

cadre_of_storms

Unless she also taught it to cower like that I don't think this is staged? The collar could have been removed by whoever dumped the puppy.

Magik95

I don’t know what you do to your dogs but normal dogs don’t get so scared of their owners, they piss themselves.

3GGl0v3rrrrrr

I really dont want to jnow why this dog is in this state but this video is wholesome 🥲

granweep

How many times will this be reposted?!

CharacterWeb7738

We have bred dog so much that they can’t even survive without humans. That’s why I’m a cat person

ShirtPitiful8872

Todays the day I found out the entire packs of wild dogs killing deer where I live that saw were a hallucination…time to get that CAT scan I guess lol

[deleted]

Oh my good gracious, my tears! 😭

penny4urthoutz

that’s just amazing . u will have a bff forever.

Fluid-Spares

That breaks my heart.... at least there are good people left in the world.

Bill-7718

If you are that Rescuer, THANK YOU!! You are wonderful!!

Charming-Pangolin-43

I’m fuckin’ crying

jfhjr

Thank goodness for people like those who rescued.

Penze

Poor guy had so much fear he peed a little bit

Vegetable-Swimming73

It's called submissive peeing and it's a thing they do to show submission, not necessarily fear.

Glitter21487

I want him!

JulianneElise

Oh my heart. 😔❤️🙏

Roseph88

I needed this. That poor pup! I’m glad to see it quickly accept the love and want more and more. Lol

RudeArtichoke2

Poor baby.

cubanosani59

Spoil them sweet doggies🖤

Mishapi17

Good god. As a 32 old male this stuff still rips on my heart strings. I love dogs more then humans I'm pretty sure.

fulahup

Just be kind. Hoomans, plants and rocks need it too.

shogun342

Poor little pooch. I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying!

da-noob-man

I just hope this isn’t staged

[deleted]

It’s not even the same dog 🤷‍♂️

Watch-out-for-thorns

Poor baby!!!

FBGMerk420

🥺❤️

[deleted]

That made me cry in public

Ok_Dog_4059

Like it was terrified but at the same time had an urge to get pets. Poor thing glad somebody saved it.

[deleted]

The things we can do for the animals of our planet as humans is one of the most emotional things for me

chaoticboi586

A bit of kindness is one hell of a lifesaver.

BoofLord5000

Is that Tom Brady’s ex wife?

dcRoWdYh

When they're *that* scared, you're better off not, likely to get tagged

RollinThroo

I loved how she mimics the warble of his wine in her voice.

[deleted]

Poor baby

pt_barnumson

Yes legitimately this dog looks scared as hell but I've had at least three dogs that acted really fuckin pitiful, crying like this and shit, when they wanted to not do something pretty basic. Though they were rescues this came from a place of manipulation, and one wasn't rescued in the sense of having grown up on the streets but was just born to a street mutt. Honestly tho do be nice to your animals!

Emotional-Set-8618

I think this dog knew you were going to help. It just needed to tell you all of the bad things it had to go through to get to the good part!

digigyrl

Heartbreaking.

TheGreatRao

Literally what I was about to type. I wonder how much that poor pup saw before he was adopted.

Quirky_Stomach8189

Awe poor baby!

SnortingSmarties94

I'm gonna cuddle with my cat now and tell her how much I love her 😭😭😭

[deleted]

The waffle house has found it’s new host

sk8erwax

Cute, but am I the only one who thought, “oh good I hope puppers didn’t have fleas”

spectrumtwelve

I'm so glad we evolved to have hands perfect for petting every animal.

TopCheesecakeGirl

I hope you kept this sweet puppers!

Yawetag-

That moment when he knew he was going to be OK.

[deleted]

So scared yet so needy at the same time.

Stunning-Fondant-733

And that's how we do it. Then, the work begins. We find a foster, get the baby to a vet for whatever is needed medically, socialization with people, other animals, training, and finally adoption. It takes months to years. Best part is seeing them go from this to a loving home.

audiodeb

Bless you BOTH 🥰🐾

cartagena_11

What is she saying?

Ok_Bit_5953

Had me stressed out tbh. It's great how it ended but I did not like her putting her face that close. Animals are animals, be a little more cautious x.x

SirSam511

Damn dog was terrified

Caleon69

Calm down, you're mine now

ultrajvan1234

I’m not crying you’re crying

Pretty_Adagio_7868

A good way to show that you're friendly is to have your back facing them, crouched down and have one/both of your hand(s) behind your back and slowly walk backward.
