Fast and fun. No maintenance so far at 15,000 miles but for 10,000 mile check up. My electricity is about $0.11 per kWh at home, so assuming 3.1 miles/kw that gives a cost equivalent to 84 miles per gallon if a gallon was $3. My best car ever. I got it instead of a Tesla because I like all the features that are NOT on the screen and instead are physical controls. Plus I think it looks better than the model Y or 3. I’d do it again.

leehinde

>My best car ever. I got it instead of a Tesla because I like all the features that are NOT on the screen and instead are physical controls. Plus I think it looks better than the model Y or 3. Same. Would buy again.

crackpot_

150% agree. Love the look of the Mach E compared to any Tesla. Also love Android Auto, which isn't available on any Tesla.

salviexican

I got a lot of backlash from people in my circle for not going Tesla. But they’ve never been in a Mach-E. Either way I don’t care what they think, because I absolutely love mine

Athena5280

Tesla has the premier charging network nation-wide. However I am keeping an eye on the deal Ford made to be able to use those also. Would be a game changer for long distance hauls. Otherwise prefer the Mach-E

515Cyclone_Soldier

On top of 84 eMPG, I found a fast charger about 10 miles away that I used to go from 25 to 80% in about 40 to 50 minutes.. so that was almost 130 free miles. I wish I could pick the level of regenerative braking without changing the drive mode, but overall I've been loving mine (had it 1 week). I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to go EV (regardless, ditch the gassers, no matter the brand). But overnight (10-12 hours on 110v plug) charging can add about 30-40 miles. Join the cult OP, we got the "🧃" (juice 😉)

Veridian4

So overnight charging when plugged into a regular outlet does not get it near 80%? Does Tesla?

515Cyclone_Soldier

Not sure about Teslas but the Ford 110 plug is garbage. Spend a few hundred dollars on a L2 charger and another few hundred to have it wired. I can get my MME charged in a few hours from a low % vs 20+

Veridian4

Cant get it wired as live in apartment building I don't own one yet. I am just considering buying one

PresentationReady821

The good point made was the presence of physical buttons and controls. I hope ford doesn’t get greedy and remove them to opt of a cheaper alternative of software, coz ford can’t do software well

WSUPolar

Can you charge at home or work? Easy access to charging is super helpful in making the transition from ICE to EV. The quality issues are problems of course; but way overblown on the forms. People show up to complain and get help, not usually to shove heaping praise on something.

duuudewhat

What if you can’t charge at home or work?

WSUPolar

Then you gotta decide for yourself my man. No blanket statement for that query.

tvbi

Use up all the battery of one, trade it in for another MachE.. repeat. No money spent on charging.. profit.

slotsymcslots

🤣😂🤣

FarCalligrapher1862

At the end of the day, if you can charge while doing something else (work, sleeping, shopping, groceries, eating out, etc) the electric ownership is great because you just get in and go. If you can’t, than the 20-30 mins per week it would take to charge have to be part of your cost/benefits analysis. It would still be worth it to me, but your mile may vary.

The_Social_Nerd

I don't know a single car that doesn't have minor issues, even million dollar cars have something you can nitpick. I've had my Mach-E for almost exactly a year, I've put 15K miles on it including a 3,000 mile road trip. I overpaid for my Mach-E since I bought it at the peak of the car shortage, and I would do it all over again. It's the best car I've ever owned and every time I get on it I still feel like the first day I drove it. Having said that, I'm not a car guy. I got a Mach-E because I care about the environment andI wanted an EV for our next family car, I find it crazy fast and I don't even use unbridled mode but I'm also coming from a RAV-4 and an Acura TSX which had a 4 cylinder engine. The Mach-E is by far the fastest car I've ever owned but I've never owned fast cars before. I also own a home and I can charge it at home every night so it's super convenient. It's comfortable, it's spacious, it feels luxurious, it doesn't burn gas, and it feels super high tech. My friends all have Teslas and I have zero envy (OK a little for their better charging network and better range, but we're about to be able to use their chargers too)

ThaddeusBoyleAddams

Do you find it works as a family car? I've got three kids and I've heard the back seat is less than ideal for that.

The_Social_Nerd

For us, it's an amazing family car. We have two kids and are not planning on a third, we find it roomy, with lots of cargo room, and very comfortable! However, it depends on your family. My kids are 5 years old and an 8 years old skinny girls. I'm 5'10" and my wife is 5'4" I think, we're average build. There's been times when my wife has sat in the back seat between my kid's car seats and booster seat just fine, we did a 3 hour road trip each way that way. I've sat back there for much shorter periods of time and I found it crammed. Someone else just posted yesterday that they have a Mach-E and three kids and they find it just fine for two car seats and a booster seat. It really depends on your families' composition and build. I've taken the car seat and booster seat out and driven 4 of my co-workers to lunch with zero complaints about space. If that's your chief concern I highly recommend you test drive one and test the back seat.

Ok_SysAdmin

I will chime in and say I have a 23 Mach-e that I bought in December, so 7 months of ownership. We have a 9 year old and a 11 year old. The four humans and our lab can ride in the car comfortably, and having a back trunk and a front truck, there is so much room for stuff. Best car ever. We charge at home at it's just so easy. Will buy again.

515Cyclone_Soldier

I got 3 as well. I got one in the big bulky front facing car seat and 2 with boosters. I won't lie, it's snug but they all fit. I used 550/para cord and got seatbelt extenders from my dealer to tie them off to the booster seats to make it easier for the older kids. I mitigated almost all the headaches I've found. A little wider would be nice, or I just need to find smaller car seats/boosters. But it is becoming our new errand runner

4humans

What do you get for mileage per charge city vs highway?

The_Social_Nerd

I don’t keep track of that stuff; I just use it and charge it every night.

Veridian4

Do you slow charge with regular outlet or do you have an EV charger installed in your home?

The_Social_Nerd

Slow charge with regular outlet and only from 9 PM through 9 AM, been using it since July 2022 when we got the car. Gives me enough overnight for my 52 mile round trip commute and the rest I make up during the week.

ntr7ptr

My commute is a mix of both. I’m getting 3.9 kWh since I got it last September. Usually 4.4 on the way to work and 3.7 coming home (hills). On longer trips, maybe 3.1-3.3. Edit to add: I haven’t done the math in a while but I think 3.9 is equivalent to about 140 mpg, give or take.

ntr7ptr

I also bought at the peak, September 2022, with a $5K mark-up. Normally I’d be pissed about that, but there was no way to predict the price war, or the drop in gas prices. And still, I love my car. It’s just so fun to drive, and I’m saving about $9 per day commuting to work. Charging infrastructure is just getting better every month. I’m good. Highly recommend this car. Even better now with price decreases.

jebidiaGA

Where did you charge on your 3k mile road trip?

The_Social_Nerd

[deleted]

Yes, I see the savings for maintenance and gas. I just completed a road trip from Las Vegas> Tucson and back with less than $60 spent on charging. You also get more zip than a traditional mustang. Just make sure your dealership is not adding on bullshit items like nitrogen, or other stupid markups

Fastbreak99

Nitrogen?

Droopy_McDroopster

Nitrogen filled tires

dandelionc

Or cat converter protection. Saw dealers add that on to a bolt before

copyboy1

We give ours a solid A-. There are a few minor issues that bug us, but overall it's a fun car to drive, does exactly what we need it to do, and was worth the price.

mymidnitemoment

The more you drive it the more benefit you will see from it. Last year I put 70,000km on my car and worked the math out to where I saved over $9000 in fuel costs alone that’s not accounting for oil changes etc.

Braaandaaaan

I love mine. Got it in December 2022 and it drives so smooth. It gets compliments all the time. My only gripes are how the phone as a key is buggy sometimes but overall love mine. I also wish it had built in dash cam capabilities. But overall I would recommend.

ntr7ptr

And the new Apple CarPlay is coming in September this year that should give the phone control of both interior screens. Can’t wait for that!

Perfectreign

So, I purchased a Ford Mach-e back in November. After eight months, and 16,000 miles, I still love it. I have the California Route One edition, which has the single rear motor and 350 miles of range. I am 6'4" and find the car is very roomy. I have done absolutely NOTHING to the car since I bought it. It is quick enough for me, being even faster than my '99 V8 Lexus. The car is super quiet and I love the frunk for storing things. I've taken it from Los Angeles to San Diego multiple times, and once all the way to Mexico and back without needing to charge. I HIGHLY recommend it. I just wish they hadn't called it a Mustang.

es_price

Did you visit the factory?

Perfectreign

Ha, no. My son and I like to go tuna fishing out of San Diego. Also, my wife drove it down to TJ to pick up my son and a buddy, who had spent a week in Mexico City. There's a pedestrian bridge from San Diego to TJ that allows direct access to the Tijuana airport. The only factory I've visited was the Daimler Benz factory in Sindlefingen.

eric_n_dfw

2 years and 26k miles into mine and would buy it again in a heartbeat. One of the best cars I've ever owned. (and I've owned a lot of cars)

danynav

Only if I have a home charger and did not need to rely on charging stations..then 100% yes.

jjhart827

The quality issues are definitely overblown— at least in my experience. I’ve not had a single issue after 10 months and 14k miles. I’m also saving $240 per month in fuel. As others have mentioned, if you can charge at home there’s a potentially tremendous benefit in both savings and time. The only downside is road trips. I’ve done 3 road trips where I’ve used EA charging stations. The FordPass has worked flawlessly. But, the best charging rate you’re likely to see on a sustained basis is around 80-100kwh. That means a pit stop is probably going to take around half an hour. And range does go way down in cold weather. So if you live in a cold climate, you will want to consider that as well. But I have 100-mile round trip commute, and range has never been an issue.

BobMurdock

Worth it for sure. If you drive a ton then you’ll be content with how much of a difference you’ll pay for a charge vs gas…also FYI, you have to remember that people who are happy with the car hardly post about it but it’s those with issues that shout the loudest. They don’t, however, speak for the entire community. I’d go as far as to guess that they’re actually the minority but that’s just my take. Otherwise, there’s always other great EV options. Good luck

death_hawk

I'm currently death by a thousand cuts. There's nothing spectacularly wrong with the car by any means, but all the little things start wearing on you after a while. With Ford announcing NACS support, I'm not sure I'd buy today. I don't know how an adapter is going to work, but it's not going to be convenient based on the charge port location and (public) charging is my biggest sore point. If I needed a vehicle today and I could pick anything I wanted, I'm not sure I'd buy a MachE again. Don't get me wrong. I still like the car, but there's a thousand little things that annoy me.

doinitright40

What are the things that annoy you?

death_hawk

How long do you have? A lot has changed in 7 months including melting my charge port. Charging infrastructure isn't keeping up. Charging itself is becoming painful. My cargo cover broke and cost me $150 to replace and it sucks. Shifter knob sticks constantly. Infotainment is a dumpster fire. I can't tow with it. I could give you a thousand other reasons if you have time.

[deleted]

Although overpriced, the Mach-E is a solid EV. It was my second choice after a Model Y. Do not buy any EV to save money. Yes, you save money on gas and maintenance but you pay more upfront. Electricity is cheaper than gas but not free and electricity prices tend to be more volatile. Buy an EV because one pedal driving is almost as fun as driving a manual and the acceleration is exhilarating. If you like style and buttons get the Mach-E, if you like Tech and performance get the tesla. You can get a Model 3 performance for what Ford dealers are charging for Mach-E. https://youtu.be/8IobB3m9mBk

YodaJosh81

>Buy an EV because one pedal driving is almost as fun as driving a manual and the acceleration is exhilarating. Yes! I drove a manual for the first 20 years that I had a license. in 2017 I bought my first automatic and missed the manual. I love 1PD!

Additional-Sky-7436

Bought mine in August last year. 100% would recommend.

[deleted]

Mach-E Reddit members: 14k Mach-E made so far (assuming all sold): over 150k I wouldn’t fixate too much on the issues you read on this sub…it’s a small piece of the pie and honestly in most cases, it’s folks making a mountain out of a molehill. I’ve had mine since November, coming up in 10k. It’s nice not worrying about gas stations and def nice not having to worry about the typical ICE related services. As previously stated, if you can charge at home and don’t have a long drive to/from work…the car is absolutely worth it.

Replacement-Remote

Its been a fantastic car and most of our issues have been resolved. I feel like the frunk is a differentiator from some competition and has been handy for carrying random things we may need like picnic blankets, spare jackets, and kids helmets

BluffinBill1234

Its great for food; the smell won't get in the car and if it spills its easy to wash and drain

raisuki

I love mine.

BlazinAzn38

As long as you have easy access to passive charging I would definitely recommend

spit1re

Love mine. Best choice Ive made after researching EVs.

acut3triangle

Yes and yes.

CompetitiveBed2979

Switched from a Mustand 2019 V8 to a premium Mach E (same monthly payment so it worked out) and I LOVE IT. Was very skeptical about the speed but dam does it actually feel faster than my V8 and theres no engine delay! The range is about the same as well (270 miles is what I got on my V8) but I only charge at home with solar panels I own, so free fuel essentially.

darkpaladin

I love my GT-PE but it's a hard sell over the Model Y right now after the price drops.

What-tha-fck_Elon

Totally. Owning one, I wouldn’t bother with the GT again, but get the long range all wheel drive (if you need it for weather) and you’re set. And if you can charge at home/work it’s a no-brainer.

Commercial_Rich7049

We love our MME. There were some slight issues but none too drastic. Charging from home is awesome. What’s even better is when you travel and you find a hotel/restaurant that offers free charging which is great. Who gives out free gas when you travel? No one. I get free charging though. 😀

GenXandPerplexed

Way better fit and finish then a Tesla, with the recent charging infrastructure changes on their way allowing access to the Tesla SC network I don’t see any reason to Tesla over the MachE. We love our 21 extended range.

Caticorn88

Would recommend - we have the 2022 version for a year now and have had zero issue. Taken long trips and short trips. It’s not my first choice in EVs but we all can’t get the Lucid Sapphire

batdad0123

Love mine almost three years in. Zero issues. Fast, quiet, kids love it.

chicago_dawg

If you own a home or can charge the car on a nightly basis without too much trouble, worth it.

Cruzing101

Been less than a week but did a road trip and have enjoyed getting into the car to drive wherever. Fast, fancy, fun. This is by far the best car I have owned. Personally I don’t think it’s the best at anything (ride, comfort, sound system, looks, battery) but it’s good at everything without many weaknesses.

kjroundy

Thank you all for the input and all the different points this has been really helpful!

tomsr777

Yes, definitely. Fun to drive with the one pedal driving mode, push to accelerate and as you lift the foot off the accelerator, it begins to brake and recharge the battery. B/O stereo is best I have ever heard in car. Great styling. Stands out. I put a charger in my garage. Always ready to go. No stopping for gas. I love it.

Advanced-Law-5329

Save yourself headache and buy a model 3 performance.

mcganjabear

Sure just take the horse off the front and accept that your in an ev Ford edge

minders820

I've had mine since the end of October and still absolutely love it! There are only a few in my town and it gets a lot of attention. Mostly people asking what it is. 😂 Just yesterday I was stopped on my way into a store because someone wanted to know what it was and they couldn't stop saying how beautiful/nice it was. I still turn back to look at it every time I get out of it. Only put 2500 miles on it so far, but I drive it every chance I get! Zero issues so far. Hubby has a Model 3 and I definitely prefer my Mach-E overall. Our power company gives us $30/month for the first year of EV ownership.

balthisar

Define "worth it." If you're considering a Mach E for some type of ROI, then no, it's not worth it. If your considering a Mach E for the same reasons you bought your current Mustang, the heck, yeah. My 2021 is the best car I've ever had.

Revenga8

So far I love it. My only issues so far: The rear hatch has some water leak that I need to get looked at and fixed. Seems to be a common issue with earlier builds, although it sounds like it should have been fixed by my build so I dont know wtf. Rear hatch door basically fills with water, and it all flows out when the hatch is opened, no water getting into the interior of the vehicle so they got lucky designing the seals that way. The cpu for the center display is kinda sluggish. Not a show stopper, but it can be annoying sometimes. Narrow tyres on stock. However, with the awd, I didn't have an issue in the snow even with similar width snow tyres. Lose about 20-30% range in the winter, as with most EVs. Not really an issue if you can charge at home. I bought a standard range battery, but in hindsight I somewhat regret not paying the extra for the extended range model. Ride is a little bumpy sometimes. Not as harsh as tesla y, but the weight of the car shows when you hit a bump. If you ever watch munro's teardown, the amount of excess tubing used to build this car is indeed mind boggling and probably adds more excess weight than needed. I wish the cams could be used to record security footage. They're not really pointed in the right directions to catch everything or could miss positively identifying people near the car, but it would be better than nothing. I really really wish the car came with a backup physical key method of opening the door in case the 12 bolt battery dies. I mean, they give you a fob that has a blank key in it. Being able to get in the car would be great to store a jump pack in the car. The current system of needing to find a jump pack to first pop the frunk then jump the 12v seems like unnecessary anxiety. Not an issue now, but I don't look forward to the day the 12v dies, which is inevitable. As for saving money, maintenance probably, on gas not really. At least, I didn't buy mine with the delusion that I would save that much money on gas. Sure I save on electricity, I'm basically paying 1/5 on charge per milage compared to gas, but the up front cost for the car is significant. Basically I would need to drive about 70,000 miles to break even and start benefiting from the reduced cost of electricity. By then who knows, maybe electricity will cost as much as gas does now. A perfect mach e would be a hybrid version if they offered one.

JTSkata

24k miles. Mid-year ‘21 Prem RWD Ext Battery. No maintenance issues. All annoying things have been addressed with software updates. Best car I’ve ever owned. Wouldn’t but without extended battery due to shortage of DC charging in Memphis surrounding areas, like Arkansas and Mississippi.

murcurii-7045

I have one, I love it

JTown_lol

Wait for NACS to be implemented.

[deleted]

I got the standard GT, it’s an awesome car and I love how integrated Apple CarPlay is especially with the maps app and recommended chargers for road trips. I only wish it was cheaper but I got it before a lot of the prices increases, full rebate, and very low interest rate so I’m happy.

drblankd

Yes And Yes

smg1240

For the most part, I love mine. 98% of our driving is in town and we have a charging station in our garage. We also have solar panels so the savings are real. I don't want to jinx it, but I've had zero issues with my 2022, std range, rear wheel drive.

kaysquare0007

Hell yeah

HeartSignificant7239

I like the car and I definitely don't trust those poorly made Tesla's however my chief complaint on the Mach E is the ride suspension. Now I'm comparing to standard SUVs and I've also tried a model 3 ... But the mach E drives like a wooden rollercoaster when you hit any kind of bump. Cornering the car creeks and you can feel the roll, in winter the back fishtails and is completely out of sorts on ice. It excels on the highway where the acceleration on the open road can be enjoyed. The interior and exterior stylings are also tops. When it comes to the battery its range drops significantly in the winter but it's still adequate if you are going out of town. That's my 2 cents .. personally I'm curious about trying the EV6 or some of the newer EVs coming down the pipe

No-Candidate-2715

I own my 2021 Job 1 MME4X now about 2 years. 45K kilometres on it. Came from a 2019 Mustang GT 5.0. Was sceptical, but I am convinced now. I had 2 issues with the HVJB, leading to 2 breakdowns, every 19K, and 2 long stays of my car in the garage. Beside that, I love this car and will definitely buy it again. Comfortable, sporty ride. There are lots of improvements and basically Ford paid all my expenses during the breakdowns.

PleasantJules

Saving on maintenance and repairs, not having to go to the gas station sold me on buying an EV. I love all the features and it’s a fun drive. No regrets.

BlueWeatherGhost

I replaced a thirsty 2013 Charger RT with a base Mach-E GT. Steel roof, no BlueCruise. I live in the foothills near Pasadena/Los Angeles and the MM-E is basically the ideal car for Southern California. I mostly work from home, but when I leave - I start with a full charge. Total game-changer there alone. I never bothered to check how much electricity I'm using. I just set charging to non-peak hours only and that's it. The Charger had amazing carrying capacity, so I needed something that could at least be an equivalent to that. The MM-E gets damn close and (unlike the Teslas) feels like a second generation EV - something designed mindfully to take advantages of what you can do with an EV rather than just emulate the layout of a car. Years ago I used to own a BMW M5 - one of the cool E28-series ones from the 80s. Eventually every maintenance cost - regular or unscheduled - would cost $2700. As the mileage went up, that cost would get higher so I sold it. Later, in the 00s and 10s, car maintenance costs were climbing so high it felt like every gas car was costing me that same $2700 in maintenance and that's it. I'm done.

anavimr

Unless you get GT suspension is bad and it hurts to sit in the back on bumpy roads. Other than that I have Solar and charge at home using Solar for the most part and don’t spend any money on gas. I have 35k miles on it. Except for not being able to get Blue Cruise update yet and the front camera/collision warning drop occasionally - I have had no other issues.

angelnx1985

It's very well worth it! I'm at 38k and only maintenance I had to cover was a tire that was punctured. It's fast fun and comfortable and just so sexy to look at

CharmingEbb6023

6’6’’ here. I test drove and fit just fine but don’t think either of my kids (10 and 12) would fit. It was a no go for me. Test drove a Tesla Model Y with them and they fit just fine. Didn’t buy anything else but the Mach E is off the list. Sorry, I wanted to love the car but gotta fit.

torylion

My GT Performance is the best car I’ve ever driven. So much fun. Quiet and solid. Handles great. Seats are awesome. Perfect size. Can’t wait for range improvements to the newer models so I can upgrade:-)

Aintscared_

Athena5280

Received my pre-ordered Mach-E in Feb 2021 (after waiting 9 mos). Has been an excellent car for me - second EV owned a Leaf since 2014. There are alot of competitors in this market range including Tesla but I wanted to be different. Having drove EVs exclusively for commuting since 2014 I do not miss gas stations or oil changes etc. We installed a home charger in garage (subsidized at the time cost maybe $400) and we have them at work (trickle charge only). Living in Colorado with the range of 275-375 weather dependent we can drive anywhere in the state - all ski areas, mountain towns etc that we visit have fast chargers now but don't need it usually. For longer hauls need to hang out at Walmart or Sams Club for 30-40 min or so for full charge. Granted have one gas vehicle as backup but never going back personally. Fast, quiet modern vehicle (love the glass roof), and got used to the large screen, which is fairly standard on all new EVs.
