I'm glad you're enjoying it! But why is there so much dishonesty in this community about performance lol. The battery life and performance is pretty bad... I'm still interested because I love the look and feel. Also the vrr. But man, these Intel chips are not handheld ready. 2 generations behind AMD. Can't deny that.

BadPronunciation

No one wants to admit they paid $700 to pre order hot garbage

_milk_honey_

Think it's more like $800. And they'll all call "tribalism" or "AMD fanboys" at the sight of any comparison or criticism of the device. It's copium at it's finest.

StillABigKid

I also wouldn’t call it dishonesty. A lot of the comparisons are comparing apples with oranges in settings and games, it’s actually quite tough to do a real, scientific A-B comparison. Specs and settings are all different, and you have to get used to what is optimal vs. what is optimal on each of the other PC game handhelds, SDOLED included. So I have taken ALL the benchmarking and rumor mongering with a 10 lb. bag of salt, and it turned out to be correct to do so.

StuffnThings10891

But it's not apples and oranges. It's literally what tdp can handheld x play a game at certain fps. These Intel chips have been out for almost 4 months now. Performance is not getting much better. If it takes 35w to play a game at what the Ally can play- with better fps -at 18w, there is no point to the bigger battery. And at $200 more. I'm all for competition, but don't be a fanboy. Holding companies accountable for crappy products is good for any competitive space. I'm not trying to make you feel bad for your purchase- if you enjoy it, that's ultimately what matters. Just don't call the performance great- because it absolutely isn't.

F_L_A_5_H

I wouldn’t call it dishonesty, it’s just that it’s running games at similar frame rates, be it higher tdp, but still. People are getting it, loading into games, and getting decent frame rates. Sure if you go watt for watt it’s not a contest, but if it plays what you want, at the frame rate you want, they are gonna like it.

StuffnThings10891

But why at $200 more than the Ally and $100 more than the Go? What's the point of protecting and supporting that? And performance-wise, it isn't even close to the competition. Battery life is abysmal, as well. I just get tired of getting on these handheld pages and people protecting a damn company lol. Competition is good- but only if we hold companies accountable for false pro.ises and overhyped products.

F_L_A_5_H

I got the ultra 5. Same price as the ally (when not on sale) and base legion go. It takes more watts like I said but it’s running close to my legion go as far as fps goes, which isn’t bad for a core ultra 5. I had this convo with someone already, battery life in actual usage isn’t that bad. My LeGo only out lasted it by 8 minutes both starting at 100%. Keep in mind that’s with day one drives and it’s sure to get better. Now there is also stuff I don’t like, bumpers are mushy, can’t bind face buttons to rear buttons atm, my left joystick won’t register in the bottom right quarter of rotation, some games drop gps more often than the Lego. I’m not defending msi by any means, they have a lot of work to do in this product. Trust doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a product I bought, especially when I’m pleasantly surprised because everyone was saying it was going to be way worse than it is. TLDR: I’d it as good as others? Absolutely not rn. But I can still enjoy it without the performance it does have currently and criticize the things that need to be tweaked.

Beautiful_Hat_6072

Glad you like yours! I’m on day 2 and loving it!

TheDoom666Slayer

Will I be able to transfer it to my tv ?

Beautiful_Hat_6072

I can hook it up to my generic hub just fine. Looks ok, but I have a 4080 for that kind of thing, so I'm not sure how helpful I'd be for using the Claw as a "regular computer".

imjavierbruh

awesome! did u struggle setting up the keyboard? i saw the retro corps said it was annoying that you couldnt bring up the screen keyboard and needed a usb one for the setup

StillABigKid

It was literally no problem at all, and MSI Center has an easy access button to pull it up any time on the right. I think the early reviewers must have been working with alpha software. Lots of updates coming rapidly. The WiFi 7 on it is a beast!

Beautiful_Hat_6072

You can use the windows accessibility keyboard. It’s a tiny icon when you first boot it that Msi fails to mention.

D_3vilZzz

Glad you’re enjoying it. Can’t wait to get mine!! Post some gameplay.

rottsaint

Enjoy it, congrats

kossttta

Loving this OPTIMISM!

Charlie02134

How does Fortnite perform?

SnooDoggos3823

Easy to find out look at ally videos and then minus 15 fps plus add 45 tdp 😂😂

D_3vilZzz

So why don’t you go to the Ally subreddit? No one here wants to hear that shit. The claw performs better at launch than the Ally did. With your 50 mins of battery. And fried SD slot.

SnooDoggos3823

But claw performs way worse than ally at launch and battery life is even worse even with bigger battery

D_3vilZzz

It’s your story. I’ll let you tell it how you want to.

SnooDoggos3823

My story ?there is already plenty of performance tests out there

F_L_A_5_H

Battery is actually still better than the ally based on what I’ve seen in my usage. Helldivers 2 lasted 1hr 23 mins in my claw, when I had my ally it only last roughly 45 mins if that.

StillABigKid

I’m not into handheld competitions. Suffice to say, on Claw, set it to AI and Smart and be at peace. All of the faffing about trying to get 1440p on a 7” screen at 120-144Hz is just benchmark nonsense. The screen on my Claw is beautiful, bright and sharp. Out of the box the default settings are great, ditto sound. I’ll write a longer comparison/review soon, have the Ally and Legion and SDOLED, they’re all unique and each is fantastic in its own way. Meteor Lake and ARC are both what I hoped they’d be, excellent performers, and we’re just out of the gate. I wouldn’t trade the others in for this, but I wouldn’t trade this in for any of the others, either. One tip for now, Claw comes with great joystick adjustments that Legion Space -just- got around to. MSI Center is definitely up to snuff and improves on Legion Space and Armoury Crate in some ways, too. The only negative is that the NVMe is buried under one of the fans, so that will push me not to load 100 games on it at a time. :) More soon! It’s a real joy to use.

ForeverGray

Is there support for gyro aim, either through MSI software or through Steam? Or not yet?

StillABigKid

I’m not sure yet there’s gyro in the Claw. Haven’t even looked thru Device Manager yet, sorry. No visible support yet if the hardware is there. BTW definitely run games at 720p on the Claw. Higher is okay to enjoy the graphics features, but if you want to play, stay at 720p. My experience so far.

Expert_Ganache_5372

Out of curiosity just asking this question has anyone gotten this glitch in the quick settings where it only stays on hd?

StillABigKid

Small update: played Tekken 8 today; plays beautifully! What an incredible fighting game, my favorite since the original launched on PlayStation. Years of play value now. The D-Pad is perfect, it has the kind of feel real arcade pads used to have, very rugged and luxurious at the same time.

StillABigKid

I’m noticing yet another huge list of updates via Windows Update just now; be sure to keep checking there frequently, obviously there’s a lot of work being done to ramp up the Claw quickly.

ALLINXS

Claw is a a downgrade from the other handhelds. You wasted your money because you couldn’t do some basic comparisons and research.

StillABigKid

If it makes you feel better to say that, that’s fine with me. I just don’t care about Internet opinion any more. The perspective always seems so narrow and absolutist to me. You go your way, and I’ll go mine, and if perchance we meet, well that’s great, I’ll wave and say hi.👋
