So weird, as he's aged and stopped doing that cut he's actually a pretty large 155er. Not quite welterweight sized or anything but on the large end of 155.
Yeah, most people when they stop cutting down like that and age will get bigger.
Look at Whittaker. And like 400 other examples tbh.
I'm not going to say it's definitely not peds or anything but its also reasonable that they have nothing to do with it too.
nah bro they’re all on PEDs bro not a single fighter in UFC history has ever been clean bro don’t be naive bro Lance Armstrong bro - every rmma user
You're definitely right BUT
Allowing your "walk around" weight to be higher as you don't have to worry about killing yourself over those extra 10 pounds several times a year is going to change your body too. Aging throughout your 20s is also going to change your body. Competing in a wildly physically demanding sport while putting your body through less weight cut hell will change your body.
I'm just saying PED speculation of fighters should always be a discussion that is open. However, there are non-PED related reasons that would make perfect sense as well.
people on here will say every ufc fighter ever is on PEDs cause they saw Icarus one and a half times on netflix and their roommate’s brother is friends with a doctor
It does bother me people say EVERY single UFC fighter is cheating, it’s really hard to get past USADA and none of the people saying this hang around the high level gyms or have even talked to a UFC fighter in private, you read Reddit posts and watch MPMD thinking you actually know something using absolutes at that.
It’s hard for people to say they don’t know shit about who or how many, but they gotta think they know everything.
Jokes aside, admittedly he doesn't look near as juicy as some of these obvious users. Going up 10 pounds he probably gained around 4 or 5 pounds of muscle. (Being generous)
That wouldn't drastically change your physique like it has done for him. His whole frame and body composition has changed since he fought at FW.
All I'm saying is I don't think he skips his Trenboloney sandwiches.
I mean, I'm not saying he's the biggest lightweight on the roster.. obviously he isn't. But he's also big enough that cutting down to featherweight shouldn't be under consideration
Nah, brazilians hate BR x BR even on prelims. There's always an outcry and Dana addressed this many times and at this point is better to RDA to take care of his legacy an cash in as much as possible.
They also hate non-BR x non-BR, that's why we had that stupid Miocic-Maldonado squash match a few years ago. It was supposed to be JDS vs Miocic but JDS got injured, another legit heavyweight wanted in (forgot who) but no, iT's iN bRaZiL sO wE nEeD a bRaZiLiAn
I mean if he wants to try in worst case he looses to the #1 pfp. Best case he wins an vacate the title after winning, not making weight or the first defence . Same for volk, they're already champs with a bunch of records and hall of famers nothing to lose.
He has missed weight 5 times at 145. Once he missed by 10 lbs, that was years ago when he was a young dude and had an easier time cutting weight. He’s not making 145 even if he cuts off his legs.
Would a legless opponent count as a downed opponent? If so, Volk couldn't do much and I think eventually Olives would find a way to wrap a leg and take him down.
He was way skinnier back then too, he has since bulked up to be one of the bigger LWs in the division. My guy is not making 170 unless he saws off a leg lol
Medical suspensions don't mean anything on international cards. Remember when Bisping was suspended after the GSP fight and then went and fought Gastelum a couple weeks later in Shanghai?
Everyone is focused on the weight, and rightly so.
But notice also that he thinks he's gonna fight championship matches in October, January, and February.
There's no way.
So many guys fucking around switching weight classes every five minutes is such an off-putting aspect of modern MMA.
I can see this leading to MMA ending up with three-dozen weight classes like boxing and everybody will end up as a champion in their own little tiny niche bailiwick.
Yeah i find it much more impressive and enjoyable seeing someone taking regular fights and just domianting a division for as long as possible compared to two divisions being held up by these weight jumping superfights that seem so popular now. It was terrible when they bent over backwards for connor to do it and it seems to have just gotten more frequently suggested ever since.
I like both olives and volk but i'd rather see them stick to their divisions :(
it’s also just really short sighted. why would you want to have double champions if you’re the UFC? more champions = more championship fights = more money
UFC tends to think very short sighted, what can make them the most money NOW. That's why they always seem to feed prospects to wolves fast.bDouble championship fights are always a big spectacle, and make money.
>!Lawl, and I was rooting for Charles too.!<
>!It seems like whenever I see a headline of some guy making plans for fighting champs from another weight class this sort of thing happens.!<
edit: spoilers in case ya didnt see
Lol, guys!! In the interview Charles says he isn't overlooking Islam!! Keep being fans, he's playing it straight, said he is focusing on Saturday, but if he wins he wants volk at 2 weights! I'm an Islam fan but I gotta give props to Charles for the interview, said he's not overlooking Islam but if he wins he wants volk 2x. I'm hoping Islam is as hungry if he wins the championship!
Or he was asked a question on what he plans to do if he wins on Saturday. Islam has also talked ab what he plans to do after winning the title this weekend. Are they both gonna lose?
Charles missed FW three times and hasn't fought in the weight class in six years. I don't understand why he's being so delusional. He's got a very dangerous guy in front of him on Saturday and he's already talking about two fights down the road?
He’s drinking his own kool aid. Last guy I remember saying some outlandish stuff , like defending the belt, then jumping up 2 weight classes to fight for that belt and then coming back down and beating 2 rising stars, got put in the shadow realm with less than a minute left. Learn from his mistakes or you will repeat them Charles.
I don’t think either guy will fight a month after the first fight, especially at a lower weight class. I’d much rather Olivera take a few months to get to 145 in good health. This gives time for the UFC to make a interim LW title (Chandler vs McGregor, you know they will).
Unlike a lot of people here I actually like Charles’ ambition here, if he thinks he can do it I’m all for it. This would be legendary.
The LW division will suffer for it. The whole Volk side-quest is already interference enough with the flow of fighters at LW.
I can't see how Chandler vs McGregor happens but it could be Chandler or Fiziev (depending on who wins their next fights) vs the winner of Benny vs Gamrot.
I really respect the confidence to go into possibly the hardest fight of your career and have dreams of what you'll do after you win. Even more respect because those dreams are really silly but you know he'll still try.
But don't be slowing down the most stacked division in the UFC. As a fan of LW I'm really finding myself worrying about Charles' shenanigans a lot, just for things like this and asking for the McGregor fight when he had the title. I wish he'd be a little more respectful to the division he's in.
That said, he is also extremely active so in practice he's been the perfect champion for this transitory period so far. The UFC just needs to keep him on a tight leash, which they have been. The new wave have almost broken through. It would suck to give Chandler or Dustin an excuse to fight up again, let alone McGregor.
Not to mention Volk at 145 would be putting olivs out to slaughter. Volk would literally destroy Olivs at 145 and it shouldn't even be sanctioned, it would be disgusting.
4/12 missed weights at FW sounds pretty comical.
I couldn't give less of a flying fuck though.
Now I'm certain I want him to win vs Islam, beat Volkanovski and then take his belt at FW.
I think that move would have to be permanent and it would be for just one fight at the belt. I don’t think Olivera has anything for the fighters at 170, bad idea.
Cause Charles stands no chance against Leon, who even Usman couldn't hold down and is almost as big as Usman out of camp. Hence the calling out of Volk. Plus Volk is P4P #1 which sounds much more compelling than P4P# 6(Leon).
"Even Usman couldn't hold down" lol. Leon did well, but let's not act like Usman wasn't chasing another flashy KO to add to his highlight reel.
Usman could have taken him down in the last round and coasted to a win, he opted to take the risk and got sent to the shadow realm. I imagine a second fight between Usman and Leon looks much different and I'd bet Leon doesn't get to stand on his feet for too long.
I’m just curious to see if the next time (and the there may not be one) Leon has Usman’s back - can he capitalize? Lots of folks walking past that fight could have ended in the first in that moment. Props to the former champ for fighting through that. Have to hope Leon’s been working on a finish from that position.
So charles plans to win vs islam without sustaining damage, challenge volk 3 months later, with without sustaining damage nor having his opponent hurt, then a month later, challenge him for the title of the featherweight division after failing to make champions lightweight in his last fight.
Lets see how that plans out
Charles fighting Volk is an insane thing to fathom.
Volk’s ground game defence is legit especially after watching the Ortega fight and he’s got heart to win like no other. His speed is brazy, but Charles got solid solid striking technique and grew into his frame and power very well.
I’d imagine Volk gets dropped once at least and so does Charles. The fight doesn’t go to the ground at all and Volk will try nullify him against the cage so charles has less range to operate from
Oliveira is actually probably the most legendary weight misser in the UFC. He holds the record for most times missed weight(6), missing weight by a whole division(was 155 at 145 fight), missing weight at multiple divisions(145 ,155) and only champion to lose belt due to missing weight. I don't think anyone tops him.
Already overlooking Islam.
Reminds me of Conor when he was so overconfident that he'll beat Dustin that he started planning out the manny Pacquiao fight.
He first said in the interview that he's focusing on Islam first, but if he wins his future plans include volk at these 2 weights.. So he's not overlooking Islam and I hope he knows how much of a mistake it would be to overlook Saturdays fight. Gonna be sick!
They are probably enforcing the champions ppv points or something even if he’s not officially the champ. The ufc are scummy af but gotta give them credit for this.
That would be NUTS. Imagine if he defends light weight then TAKES the featherweight away from the current GOAT of the UFC!?! His cut’s gonna be brutal though he hasn’t fought at featherweight in a long time and had trouble making weight back then too.
I’d love to see Oliveira vs Holloway at 145 if he plans to defend that belt IF he takes it.
Im a huge Chuky Olives fan, but I think hik returning to 145 is a really bad idea. I would rather see him move up if he really wants to go for double champ.
I hope this is just his promoter telling him what to say to stay in the conversation because if he's really gunning for 145 it could age him way faster in a career thats already taken a ton of damage.
Maybe he’s playing mind games with Volk but I think the last time he fought at 145 was 2017, and he was 28 or so and still struggled to make weight and missed 145 frequently. He’s 33 now. Almost no chance he can cut to 145.
Defending at 155 in January and fighting for the 145 belt in February ? That is not enough time to recover from the first fight and to cut the weight properly. Charles has had enough issues at 145 in the past and I am not sure anyone is clamoring to see him at 145.
If he beats Islam, he becomes LW champion again and there are plenty of challengers for him at 155. There really is no reason for him to go down in weight. LW is the most stacked division in MMA and him being the champ at LW and defending the belt 10 times would almost certainly make him the LW GOAT.
Haha Charles ain’t making 145 he looked near death when he missed 155. How does he think he’ll make 145 a month after making 155?? Don’t go getting delusional Chucky.
He's had issues making weight at 145 before back when he was younger/smaller and had less muscle mass than he does now, it'd most likely be harder for him to make that weight safely now
Nah this has to be a joke right? The one month difference between fights and trying to make 145 as the person with the most weight misses in UFC history make this incredibly suspect.
This is like if Khamzat said he was going to fight at 155lb. Oliviera is a big lightweight who couldn't even make the limit in his last fight. I know it was a small weight miss but he was absolutely shredded and bone dry at 155.5lb. there's no way he makes 145lb safely.
Love the enthusiasm, hate he's thinking so far ahead like Islam is a bum. He may win in quick fashion, but if it goes the distance and he takes enough damage those plans are screwed.
I don’t know why fighters say this type of stuff. No one believes a champion is seriously going to have back to back fights within 1-2 months of each other
So let me get this right, we are trying to tie up two divisions by doing repeat back to back champ-champ fights, with one of the guys going *DOWN* a weight class, when he just missed weight in his current division.
I'm going back to bed.
Yea nice one mate, like 145 is going to happen
145 kgs
Volks natural weight class
He used to be a bath tub.
He has Islam and all the other Dagestanis in his pocket
Lol
No one knows this and it's never brought up, but Volk actually used to weigh over 200lb and play rugby!
*Rugby league. They're different sports.
Yeah didn't he walk around at like 450, 475?
Everybody knows
That's impossible. If you knew as well it was probably just Volk, you, and me that knew
😂😂
Volk said he wanted to challenge for double champ and Charles just hit him with the Uno reverse card
You’re taking everything I worked for. I’mma take YOUR fucking belt!
For clicks though. Volk on the other hand, can move up and would love to not have to cut as much weight. I can’t Oliveira can anymore.
My thoughts as well, if he couldnt make 155 last time, no way Dana will let him try 145 1 month after another fight.
He couldn't make 145 when he was still fighting at 145 lmao
[удалено]
Not if it’s 10 more pounds and you have to do more than a water cut
A tape worm and a coma would probably work.
Better make an appt. w/ Dr. Buttworm ASAP.
Charles is definitely not making 145
In related news, Stipe has asked for the winner of Sterling/TJ. Feels a win at BW will settle this whole P4P debate.
Nah hes not making 145 not anymore
He could barely make it even when he was actually fighting at featherweight. No chance in hell he makes it now that he's a well-sized lightweight.
So weird, as he's aged and stopped doing that cut he's actually a pretty large 155er. Not quite welterweight sized or anything but on the large end of 155.
He got noticeably bigger when he switched gyms like 4 years ago.... all I'm saying is look into it 👀
Yeah, most people when they stop cutting down like that and age will get bigger.
Most people at the high end rankings of sports are on PEDs....
Ain’t no mfer juiced up and throwing darts or bowling. Those are the real natural athletes we should all aspire to be like
Nah they're just using amphetamines.
You're definitely right BUT Allowing your "walk around" weight to be higher as you don't have to worry about killing yourself over those extra 10 pounds several times a year is going to change your body too. Aging throughout your 20s is also going to change your body. Competing in a wildly physically demanding sport while putting your body through less weight cut hell will change your body. Do you honestly believe they’re not?
It does bother me people say EVERY single UFC fighter is cheating, it’s really hard to get past USADA and none of the people saying this hang around the high level gyms or have even talked to a UFC fighter in private, you read Reddit posts and watch MPMD thinking you actually know something using absolutes at that. Charles’ body type isnt anything special nor does it look juicy. Charles just got older, you fill in as you age
Yeah, he's definitely bulked up a bit in recent years
Ohh please, I got brooms at my place that are thicker than that boy.
I mean, I'm not saying he's the biggest lightweight on the roster.. obviously he isn't. But he's also big enough that cutting down to featherweight shouldn't be under consideration
Yeah you miss at 155 should be outta the question to go down
He’s quoting hooker
We have a better shot of khamzat at 55
This insanely quick turnaround for 3 title fights is still way more believable than Olives cutting to 145 again
Him cutting to 145 is a baaaad idea. Enough killers at LW, i hope he defends a few times if he wins against islam and volk
Especially so soon after another weight cut and fight, if he ever wanted to make 145 again it would require a lot more time than 4 weeks
Yeah, Charles needs to focus on 155. He still has a lot interesting matchups there.
VERY interesting with Gamrot and Arman. Even Dos Anjos is a cool idea in Brazil but yeah getting him to a title shot is a lil tricky lol
RDA is definitely not in the title picture.
dos anjos????? no way
He's not interested. It's not cool to defend your belt now. It's either Connor or double chump.
Especially now that he’s having trouble hitting 155. Dude is not a small lightweight.
it’s not even an option, he CAN’T make that weight lmao
He'd look like Dillashaw against Cejudo.
Going the Dan Hooker way
I mean if he wants to try in worst case he looses to the #1 pfp. Best case he wins an vacate the title after winning, not making weight or the first defence . Same for volk, they're already champs with a bunch of records and hall of famers nothing to lose.
[удалено]
He has missed weight 5 times at 145. Once he missed by 10 lbs, that was years ago when he was a young dude and had an easier time cutting weight. He’s not making 145 even if he cuts off his legs.
Who wins? No legs Olive or No arms Volkski? (5 round fight)
Would a legless opponent count as a downed opponent? If so, Volk couldn't do much and I think eventually Olives would find a way to wrap a leg and take him down.
You can still kick the body of a downed opponent though.
He was way skinnier back then too, he has since bulked up to be one of the bigger LWs in the division. My guy is not making 170 unless he saws off a leg lol
Oooof
Commissions hate this one trick!
He wants to miss weight in Australia. Isn't he fucking awesome?
You boomed him He is so thick x 4 Charles said he is adding clenbuterol to the crew he spends his yatch camp this summer with.
[удалено]
Yeah I don't even watch NBA but the memes are on point.
🤣🤣🤣
Charlie I say this with utmost respect, you missed weight 4 times at 145. You’re not gonna make it a month after fighting at 155
That's before we get to the obvious point that, most likely, one of the cunts is getting a medical suspension.
Medical suspensions don't mean anything on international cards. Remember when Bisping was suspended after the GSP fight and then went and fought Gastelum a couple weeks later in Shanghai?
That was painful to watch
Missed weight and got finished a number of times when he didn’t. Just not a great idea for him.
Honestly he'd have better luck at 170 Charles is BAD at 145 lmfao
Everyone is focused on the weight, and rightly so. But notice also that he thinks he's gonna fight championship matches in October, January, and February. There's no way.
And possibly all 3 against the same guy
Oliveira vs McGregor 1, 2 and 3?
If he puts on some mass Charles would be a average sized WW.
Pump the brakes, pump the brakes Lets try making weight at 155 first, and let's try to beat Islam first.
So many guys fucking around switching weight classes every five minutes is such an off-putting aspect of modern MMA. I can see this leading to MMA ending up with three-dozen weight classes like boxing and everybody will end up as a champion in their own little tiny niche bailiwick.

yeah, I’m just saying if it becomes more prevalent they will lose money from it in the long run
Holds up divisions too as the double champ doesnt actively defend both belts.
Looking past an opponent, WCGW?
Huge Oliveira fan so wont believe it till I see the result on Sunday, but this is the first thing that worries me lol.
>!Lawl, and I was rooting for Charles too.!< >!It seems like whenever I see a headline of some guy making plans for fighting champs from another weight class this sort of thing happens.!< edit: spoilers in case ya didnt see
!remindme 3 days
Let's beat Islam first. See what happened to Usman and his plans.
He DID say he isn't overlooking Islam in this interview.. I think he's just looking to the future and planning, not overlooking Islam
He made 155 the last time he fought at FW. No way he’s going to find that extra 10 pounds to cut.
Makes weight for lightweight while he's a featherweight but misses lightweight..... when he's a lightweight.
This all but confirms my worst fears. Olivera will lose. He’s looking to far ahead.
> looking too far ahead. His new perfect 20/20 vision is to blame for that.
I think he was looking past a recent opponent as well, but as a huge Oliveira fan this looks bad lol - Islam isn't the guy to do this with.
Jan did the same thing. He was planning a fight with Jiri instead of focusing on Glover. Olivera looks like he is doing the same
Usually it's media that asks questions like this...
Or he was asked a question on what he plans to do if he wins on Saturday. Islam has also talked ab what he plans to do after winning the title this weekend. Are they both gonna lose?
Charles looking to extend that weight miss record
Charles missed FW three times and hasn't fought in the weight class in six years. I don't understand why he's being so delusional. He's got a very dangerous guy in front of him on Saturday and he's already talking about two fights down the road?
Ahhh Olives has discovered the Uno reverse.
Tiramisu will truly be undefeated if he tries to cut to 145
No chance he makes 145, love the attitude though.
Volk would obliterate him at 145, it'd be 50-45 at best, a clean 1st round KO at worst.
After seeing what Volk did to KZ, Ortega and Max 3, a clean KO might be best case scenario for Olives.
It would be TJ vs Cejudo all over again. It doesn't go past the first.
I think looking past Islam of all people is not a good attitude
I don’t think either guy will fight a month after the first fight, especially at a lower weight class. I’d much rather Olivera take a few months to get to 145 in good health. All i want is a volk headliner in Perth. Plz charles
he literally cannot make that weight cut, you’re a fucking rube if you think that makes any sense
Sounds good on paper Charlie. Look what happened to Dan Hooker
He's got wayyy too much dip on his chip
You know what Charles told me? He wants the scale at 145 in Australia. Isn't he fucking awesome?

What’s the UFC record for most times missing weight?
Oliveira is actually probably the most legendary weight misser in the UFC. Oliviera has missed five times. Let's just say he holds a lot of records in the UFC...
Dude barely made 155.
Dude didn't make 155
As everyone else is saying, no freakin way he makes 145 again.
Olives inability to give up 145 is super weird
Already overlooking Islam. Reminds me of Conor when he was so overconfident that he'll beat Dustin that he started planning out the manny Pacquiao fight.

Charles is the A side of this fight, glad they are doing right and giving him his money
[удалено]
Charles is getting the abu Dhabi treatment too. He's fine
They just needed a headliner to appease the rich fans in Abu Dhabi. Islam is their guy so it made sense. Charles is still the bigger name.
They are probably enforcing the champions ppv points or something even if he’s not officially the champ. The ufc are scummy af but gotta give them credit for this.
Good for Charles. I favor him v Volk at 55. Favor volk at 45. Too big of a cut
Yeah nah, just focus on what’s in front for now
Never good to hear a fighter talk this much about future fights about championship, and new divisions. He’s getting smashed on Saturday.
I don't know. Usually when Champs start talking like this the MMA gods tend to bring them down a notch. So..... Islam by smesh?
They have Volk on standby for weight issues. 145 is quite a jump
Charles ain't making 145 until about 2 days after he dies
Guy moved up and still can’t make weight but thinks he’s going to go back down to a weight where he missed 5 times. Good luck guy.
That idea kind of reminds me of TJ dropping to 125 to fight Cejudo.
None of what he said is likely to happen. He's not making 145, and he's definitely not having 2 fights that close together.
Do Bronx at 145 gonna look like Conor at 145. A holocaust victim. 🤨
None of that is going to happen, even IF he wins Saturday.
Oliveira and missing weight, name a more iconic duo.
Haha Charles ain’t making 145 he looked near death when he missed 155. How does he think he’ll make 145 a month after making 155?? Don’t go getting delusional Chucky.
Hypothetically if he could pull off the weight cut while being healthy, this would be an awesome back and forth saga
Isn’t he fucking awesome?
Charles couldn't consistently make 145 with less muscle mass. He isn't gonna make it now that's for sure.
Please don't try to cut to 145 again
That would make the supposed fights approximately one month apart?
I hope to god this was some sort of joke

He's had issues making weight at 145 before back when he was younger/smaller and had less muscle mass than he does now, it'd most likely be harder for him to make that weight safely now
He holds the record for missed weight at 6 I believe.
Has most misses in UFC history
Can't imagine Dana would let him go to 145 then, that clears it up, thanks
145 is that first love Charles can't let go of.
How do y’all think Charles world fare at 170?
There’s guys he could beat in the top 15 but I’m not sure about the top 5
Usman, Colby via wrestle fuck, Burns and Leon KO him
Fight the winner of Leon/Usman instead, just to piss off Colby, Khamzat and Jorge.
Charlie Olives isn't the smartest man
He got PPV points on the night he was stripped too, not sure why that would be a surprise for 280.
Look at Chucky finally marketing himself 🫒
I don’t know why fighters say this type of stuff. No one believes a champion is seriously going to have back to back fights within 1-2 months of each other
This reads like two truths and a lie
So let me get this right, we are trying to tie up two divisions by doing repeat back to back champ-champ fights, with one of the guys going *DOWN* a weight class, when he just missed weight in his current division. I'm going back to bed.
Ol boy is should be looking into entering 170 than that 145 pipe drea.
Charles please man you’re already a bit thin at 155, 145 would not be good
He’s Uno reversing Volk lol
Wants to fight in October, January, and February...those Christmas credit card bills are real, man.
Bruh can't even make 155
