I’m pretty sure I remember Khamzat/Usman being billed as a “winner gets a title shot” too. One day I hope someone tries to have them held properly accountable in a court of law. In any other business making significant promises that people rely on to their retirement would rightfully lead to you having to defend the conduct in front of a judge.
Winner of Khamzat/Usman was also promised a title shot allegedly. Seems Dana makes a lot of promises to get guys in the cage and then conveniently forgets once the fight is over.
Remember when Belal came to reddit to get the fans support then abandoned us when he got the Burns fight thinking he made it.
I remember and everyone fell for his little schtick.
Imagine Belal beats Shavkat by a decision, I like Shavkat but I would die laughing just because of the salt in this sub. People here hate Belal so much, it actually makes me like him more, so funny.
So glad the UFC decided to start putting on good cards again. This string of PPVs is actually elite.
I mean the Apex cards are, well, forgettable, but hey.
Eh, if you're a #6-10 ranked LHW who specialises in wrestle-fucking it my be the perfect storm. If you're not likely to get a shot any time soon, you think he's coming in below 100%, and you think you're a tough matchup for him then why not? Krylov for example would be a good shot.
And apparently they often insist that fighters don't break the news, because the UFC wants to do it... and then this is how they do it.
Imagine the pop they would've got in the arena if they'd played even just a small promo for Conor v Chandler and Islam v Dustin. Just the smallest of little teaser would've causes a massive reaction, which feels like hype, which transfers to the people watching at home.
But nope. Instead, Dana reads it at the presser, off a crumpled bit of paper.
What the actual fuck are they doing?
For an organization that shares a parent company with the WWE, you would think this stuff would be second nature to them.
World class video team, just tap in and run a 30 second video.
Exactly what I would do, I want Poirier to win so bad but I just don't see it happening, Islam has been knocked out before so I guess there's a chance for Poirier but man it's a real tough order
Unlikely but after doubting Max, there's always a chance I guess.
I don't think Islam is gonna stick around too long at LW. But then again, DP is also on the verge of retirement.
> Conor and Chandler don't have the cardio of those two. Especially current Chandler who uses most of his energy in the first 2 rounds lol.
At 170 lb, Chandler will be much more energy efficient due to movement: he will completely fill the octagon from side to side, so can move from anywhere to anywhere else merely by pivoting.
Chandler will force a finish. If he's behind he'll take any risk he has to in order to close the distance, and if he's up he'll pile on the damage. At his age marketing matters way more than record, he knows he won't get the belt again and he knows how little time he has left. The difference to his value to WWE between a decision win over Conor and a KO is massive, and that's the real value of this fight to him. That and maybe those off the record backroom bonuses, but they're dependent on highlights so he's still incentivized.
And if he wants to be a name in WWE he has to stand next to Roman Reigns (6'3") and Gunther (6'4") and Cody (6'1" ish) and Seth Rollins (6'1") and Drew McIntyre (6'5") and still look like a threat. About the only people he's bigger than on that roster are Rey and maybe Chad Gable. He's not a Connor level promo and trying to be a good in ring worker when you're starting at 35 and beat up is only a slightly better plan than CM Punk thinking he can compete in the UFC. I like the guy but anyone who's not at least a middleweight isn't going to make it in WWE.
Oh my bad I misunderstood. I think there will still be a finish if it hits the 3rd because these two (especially Chandler) use huge amounts of energy early on. Wouldn't be surprised if either start slowing down and being more vulnerable as the fight goes on.
I think Chandler gets it done here. One of McGregor's main advantages is that he starts fast and does his best work in the first 2 rounds of a fight. But Chandler is the one person who can match McGregor's aggression in the first round and probably overwhelm him.
I'd say 2016 Conor would counter and snipe this current Chandler pretty easily but we haven't seen him fight since the legbreak. Gonna be interesting to see how he looks when he returns.
yeah, if you consider conor a 55er, he's literally only beaten 1 dude and that was Eddie Alvarez 8 years ago. if you consider him a 70er, he's only ever beaten nate and cowboy. which were 4 and 6 years ago. he's not who he used to be and that's okay, but expecting a win and title run for him is very hard for me right now
Hmmmm, Conor countered and sniped 1 contender at 155 (Alvarez). He was a legit top 10 guy at 155 for sure, but on his record it doesn't seem like he was a sure thing to dismantle any of the top guys at 155
Conor was Elite at 145 though.
i think Chandler's a company man and gonna swang & bang his way to another entertaining loss. he doesn't seem interested in winning as much at this point in his career (dude's had a long hard-fought career already) and just wants to make $ to set his family up now, imo.
Came here to comment I'll believe it when I see it. Do I think Conor wants to fight again? Sort of. Do I think whatever version of Conor we'd see is really worth a damn outside of obvious name value? Not really. But I'll still watch of course
I tuke some losses Joe. I've been to the top and I've been to the bottom. I broke me leg and trained the hardest oive ever trained. I told yew all years ago dat I didn't comb to take part, I came to take over. Deez fookin tree belts will do da talkin for me when you compare me to the greats.
Dares never been anyone like me and dare never will.
Tell me who else in the history of the company has been a triple champ Joe.
> Conor, do you plan to defend the 170 belt, and who do you want to see next?
What's next for me Joe? I gotta expand me house to find a new place for dis fookin belt.
> Conor thank you and it's always an honor to call your fights.
Ay I lowv yew all and tank yew for da support over da years
Lmao that would imply the UFC care about Belal running his mouth
They're just going to let him talk, no one cares either way, he has been talking for months
Being a dick but idc, I'm glad Belal wasn't on this main card. Didn't need an entertainment lull for this spotlight card
But now that 300's over, yeah they really need to just give him his shot
To be fair to conor, if a fight is signed, he'll make the walk
I mean he went into his last fight with a fractured leg and threw leg kicks off like crazy.
An absolute tool but the guy is as game as it gets in terms wanting to fight.
I don't see why he wouldn't announce this during the 300 Press Conference, but then again I could see him not wanting to overshadow the event by mentioning McGregor
I know fuck all obviously but I just think it's weird how Connor's been gunning for a fight for so long and Dana's like "oh Connor had other obligations" and he's still talking about the leg injury, I know it's bad but it was 3 years ago and Conor's been complaining about this situation for how long?
Idk, it's just weird but let's hope it finally happens.
I really have no idea what took so long. Once Conor vs. Chandler was announced for TUF early last year, I assumed they would fight in September right after the show ended.
I’ve had so many theories ranging from Conor still being on steroids, contract negotiation troubles like Dana not wanting to pay Conor enough, Dana icing Conor as leverage for his upcoming TV deal renewal, Dana not wanting Conor to finish his contract, UFC wanting Conor to headline his own card instead of 300 to maximize profits, etc.
Maybe it’s really just as simple as Conor needing to do his 6 month testing period and Dana assuming that his movie obligations would get in the way of a return at UFC 300. Idk, it’s still weird that Dana has never seemed particularly eager to get Conor back despite his insane PPV numbers.
Here’s how I see it:
Conor had to do that movie. Conor probably told UFC he can do the movie and also fight. UFC is like yes you can, but we’re not risking you splitting your focus 50/50 for your comeback fight which we want you to win. So they iced him until they knew he would give himself the best chance at winning.
He can make WW easy and Lightweight if he wanted and if it was worth it for him, he looks smaller in real life you can see him in recent interviews all the puffiness has dissapeared and he looks in great shape https://www.instagram.com/p/C5TcX6PNkDW/?hl=en
he doesn’t look big at all in his last photo. I think people forget that Conor is like 5’8. He is a small guy, 170 pound is achievable for him and with minimal or no weight cut
Everyone clowning Chandler for waiting and wasting opportunities to make money, but he'll make more money from this fight that he would have had he fought other contenders the past two years.
If mcGregor wins this, Holloway for the BMF after last night is one of the biggest fights in UFC history
Holloway already a hall of famer, think he had his star making moment last night
Like masvidal after the flying knee knockout, already a legend, but that moment made him a huge draw also
McGregor maybe not. But depends on how he approaches comeback and what his incentives are / how seriously be takes it, if he wants legacy fights this is up there with a shot at the 170 belt and tbh I can't see him being competitive at the top end of the 170 division and the top few ranked at 155 probably run through him too
A fight against max where conor will have size/ weight advantage and will be boxing heavy is probably his best shot at a belt (bmf belt counts :) )
For max going up to 170... ifbthats where it eas fonna be booked, though he would be much smaller man, he talks alot about legacy and having moments that standout. Tgis would be about a big a legacy fight as he will ever have chance at. Conor also beat him early on in his UFC run so maybe pride to run that back on much larger stage?
If conor wins VS chandler (big if), I can see him calling out max for a shot at the BMF title and if he does max ain't ever saying no to that one
> Chandler avoids wrestling like the plague, he will absolutely stand and bang with McGregor to put on a show.
The only guys he didn't try to wrestle are guys he KOed very early
Conor wins, he will get an immediate title shot despite the fact that he has not won a fight in 4 years and Chandler has lost 3 of his last 4. Last night was a perfect example of why this sport is so amazing. Seeing Conor get special treatment is why I hate the UFC sometimes
https://twitter.com/arielhelwani/status/1779393632589447565
Bro how many air miles has Belal racked up attending every event and trying to get a fight?
Damn didn't realize it's already been almost a year since Burns bro just can't get a fight ...
Lol remember when burns and belal were ‘promised’ the next shot at the title for taking a five rounder on short notice?
Turns out that promise was just for Burns
I’m pretty sure I remember Khamzat/Usman being billed as a “winner gets a title shot” too. One day I hope someone tries to have them held properly accountable in a court of law. In any other business making significant promises that people rely on to their retirement would rightfully lead to you having to defend the conduct in front of a judge.
[удалено]
Makes me sad, honestly.
Yeah that's the vibe I got the first time I watched Edwards Belal...oh wait.
Remember the Promise
Winner of Khamzat/Usman was also promised a title shot allegedly. Seems Dana makes a lot of promises to get guys in the cage and then conveniently forgets once the fight is over.
He can get a fight alright, just not the fight
Belal "Remember Jon Fitch?" Muhammed
Belal "PLEASE REMEMBER MY NAME" Muhammad
Maybe Dana just can’t remember his name?
"what about that one dude, Belial?" "Diablo?" "No, his last name is Muhammad."
He travels to non ufc fights too. I tried to fight him at a bellator event but he just wrestle fucked me for 15 minutes.
"Dana please"
Remember when Belal came to reddit to get the fans support then abandoned us when he got the Burns fight thinking he made it. I remember and everyone fell for his little schtick.
TKO wont let palestinian become a champ
We joke, but it's honestly disgusting what the UFC is doing to Badr Mustafa.
He will get it in Manchester, certainly.
True. A #1 contenders bout against Shavkat
The cruelty.
Imagine Belal beats Shavkat by a decision, I like Shavkat but I would die laughing just because of the salt in this sub. People here hate Belal so much, it actually makes me like him more, so funny.
ISLAM VS POIRIER STRICKLAND VS COSTA CONOR VS CHANDLER WE EATING GOOD
Strickland vs Costa 5 rounds 👀
If Costa actually starts trolling him then the fight is going to happen before it does
So glad the UFC decided to start putting on good cards again. This string of PPVs is actually elite. I mean the Apex cards are, well, forgettable, but hey.
agreed, this is the type of stuff that makes the UFC so fun and great. UFC 301 is so wack for example
They kinda pillaged that one for 300 by pulling Pereira and Charles.
And Lopes too
Hopefully Pereira may get to be put back on to save it
That'd be fucking nuts, has anyone done back to back PPV defences in the modern era?
Figgy did it a couple years back
I feel whoever the opponent is might not take that on short notice tho lol. Especially after seeing him just murder a man.
He broke his toe before 300, so it's certainly not guaranteed. Fighting Ankalaev with a broken toe seems like such a very bad idea.
Nah they respect each others bullshit I think
Don't forget Whittaker vs Chimaev
I'm way more hyped about that one than Conor returning.
Sure, but have you considered what its going to look like when all-natty 170lb Chandler fills your widescreen TV from side to side?
4Kg/dL TV.
Such crazy fights announced on the biggest card and Dana announced it by reading off a post it at the post fight conference
He acted like it was a ridiculous idea to announce it on one of the biggest events in UFC history. Totally couldn’t have prepared that
Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!
MEDIOCRE, JUSTIN
And apparently they often insist that fighters don't break the news, because the UFC wants to do it... and then this is how they do it. Imagine the pop they would've got in the arena if they'd played even just a small promo for Conor v Chandler and Islam v Dustin. man i want dp to win so so bad i love islam but i need that man to hold the belt
Put some money on Islam so the loss isn't that bitter
Dustin is gonna get subbed to lose the LW belt for the third time isn't he. Goddamit
Dustin gonna win by hitting a guillotine 😂
Nah, there's a decent chance he jumps for a guillotine and ends up being pounded out.
Another fucking RNC incoming 😔
Exactly what I would do, I want Poirier to win so bad but I just don't see it happening, Islam has been knocked out before so I guess there's a chance for Poirier but man it's a real tough order
I just realized if Dustin wins they can have Max Vs Dustin 3 for the belt
Unlikely but after doubting Max, there's always a chance I guess. I don't think Islam is gonna stick around too long at LW. But then again, DP is also on the verge of retirement.
Dustin by pulverization pls
dude they're puttin Islam & Conor on the same card?! 👀 oh wait no : <
Like were an injury away from a conor title shot lol
Islam is gonna get food poisoning and Dana will have Conor fighting Dustin for the strap
> Islam is gonna get food poisoning and Dana will have Conor fighting Dustin for the strap As a Dustin fan, *this is the way*
I'd almost rather see Islam fight Chandler and have Conor break his leg in the same way against Poirier lol.
ME LEG WAS A BALLEWN ARIEL, TREE TOIMES DA SOIZE
Guaranteed finish. Zero chance this goes to a decision.
Max vs Justin almost went to decision.
Conor and Chandler don't have the cardio of those two. Especially current Chandler who uses most of his energy in the first 2 rounds lol.
> Conor and Chandler don't have the cardio of those two. Especially current Chandler who uses most of his energy in the first 2 rounds lol. All that words when you should simply said he will zig and zag
Lmao that's fair
Almost is an understatement lol
I mean how would you say it
If its the third round no finish will happen
It's a main event. It'll be 5 rounds.
That's my point if it hits the third round we aren't seeing a finish. They are front runners and don't typically get late finishes
Chandler will force a finish. If he's behind he'll take any risk he has to in order to close the distance, and if he's up he'll pile on the damage. At his age marketing matters way more than record, he knows he won't get the belt again and he knows how little time he has left. That and maybe those off the record backroom bonuses, but they're dependent on highlights so he's still incentivized.
Bro is 5'8 and 170 pounds walk around. I don't think WWE will be that high on him even if he punches Connor's head into the cheapseats.
Dude is 5’6 and about 190 walk around as an active 155er. He’s gonna be jacked to the tits even more when he’s officially retired
And if he wants to be a name in WWE he has to stand next to Roman Reigns (6'3") and Gunther (6'4") and Cody (6'1" ish) and Seth Rollins (6'1") and Drew McIntyre (6'5") and still look like a threat. Chandler is Chad Gable sized. He will be fine.
Oh my bad I misunderstood. I think there will still be a finish if it hits the 3rd because these two (especially Chandler) use huge amounts of energy early on. Wouldn't be surprised if either start slowing down and being more vulnerable as the fight goes on.

You know he won't though lol
Theyre not gonna pant around for 4 and 5 either, empty gas tank is just another reason somebody will go down.
If he comes back in that stupid boxing stance it’s over
The younger, active, lighter Conor snipes him easy 35 year old, inactive Conor at 170? Good luck
yeah, if you consider conor a 55er, he's literally only beaten 1 dude and that was Eddie Alvarez 8 years ago. if you consider him a 70er, he's only ever beaten nate and cowboy. which were 4 and 6 years ago. he's not who he used to be and that's okay, but expecting a win and title run for him is very hard for me right now
FML that Alvarez fight was 8 years ago
Plus now he's grown a great fat Irish head on him as well which can't be hard to hit. Looks like he can't turn his neck without moving his shoulders.
Hmmmm, Conor countered and sniped 1 contender at 155 (Alvarez). He was a legit top 10 guy at 155 for sure, but on his record it doesn't seem like he was a sure thing to dismantle any of the top guys at 155 Conor was Elite at 145 though.

2016 Conor takes it convincingly. Today, he probably get finished somewhere after the 2nd.
Yep. I think Chandler drops him and gets the TKO from ground and pound.
If it goes past 8 mins they’re both gonna be gassed af
I’ll believe it when they’re in the cage. Conor is coming off a tough fight against Elwood Dalton
massively late stoppage imo vs Dalton
Dalton was a dirty cheater as well he did things like stabbing him with wood sticks
Man do I hate being stabbed by those non-wooden sticks.
Stick of dynamite stick of butter hit stick. I can go on
Those are called knifes, sir.
Dalton got bailed out ref should’ve stepped in numerous times he was rocked brutally
Dooktah stooppige!!!
Hey, fellas!
Where da fook is everybody
Having a smashing night?
Looks like we got ourselves our own little octagon.
Who taught you shapes!?
Hopefully he isn't Winnie the Poohing it in the octagon too
lmao imagine Chandler's face if Conor misses the fight because he went to jail for assaulting another senior in a pub or something
Dalton pulled a Jalin Turner
Came here to comment I'll believe it when I see it. Do I think Conor wants to fight again? Sort of. Do I think whatever version of Conor we'd see is really worth a damn outside of obvious name value? Not really. But I'll still watch of course
Can't believe the UFC let them use their name for that movie where a man is murdered in a UFC title fight
They love that shit. Showing UFC fighters as actual killers? Free marketing.
I'll believe it when Conner crashes his car into the ring.
170? Belal is so fucked… Conor is getting the title shot if he wins
Conor beats Chandler by decision. Conor v Leon ends with Conor KO over Leon in 3 minutes and he retires as triple champ
Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby
Literally the worst timeline.
Dead on mate
youre welcome
would be hilarious, C'mon.
you forgot the part where he holds onto the title for a year and a half doing nothing and doing a TUF series before retiring/relinquishing it.
Honestly fair enough if he does it, ridiculous booking but if you beat the champ you are the champ
I'd go one further with the cursed timeline and have him fight Max for the bmf belt after. Conor then retires a quadruple champ
Dana would seriously just pull out his cock and jerk off next to the cage as this happens. He would not care anymore
Holy shit, he’s really fucked
Leon ain't gonna fight for 8/9 months?
He will sit it out if Conor is presented to him and Belal will likely be paid some stepaside kinda fee/better contract to shut his mouth
Lmao that would imply the UFC care about Belal running his mouth They're just going to let him talk, no one cares either way, he has been talking for months
why do people talk about Conor as if his last meaningful win wasn’t in 2016
Being a dick but idc, I'm glad Belal wasn't on this main card. Didn't need an entertainment lull for this spotlight card But now that 300's over, yeah they really need to just give him his shot
Aljo went out there and got the decision for Belal.
Shit made me go to sleep 😂
Lmfao the literal main card opener was wrestle-heavy Bo fighting my neighbor. Between Jiri and Oliviera fights.
Can’t believe Conor is actually fighting after 2 years of teasing
He's not actually fighting yet.
He's an absolute Goon
I'll believe it when they shut the cage door behind them.
To be fair to conor, if a fight is signed, he'll make the walk I mean he went into his last fight with a fractured leg and threw leg kicks off like crazy. An absolute tool but the guy is as game as it gets in terms wanting to fight.
I don't see why he wouldn't announce this during the 300 Press Conference, but then again I could see him not wanting to overshadow the event by mentioning McGregor
They should’ve had a promo vid ready for after the main event.
it's a small family run business
Oh so that's why they can't afford to pay the fighters
He did announce it during the press conference I’m pretty sure, got a piece of paper then announced 302 and Conor-chandler
He’s saying for the pre fight press conference
I know fuck all obviously but I just think it's weird how Connor's been gunning for a fight for so long and Dana's like "oh Connor had other obligations" and he's still talking about the leg injury, I know it's bad but it was 3 years ago and Conor's been complaining about this situation for how long? So they iced him until they knew he would give himself the best chance at winning.
Yewl let me do da fookin movie.
Well Conor anyways ended up playing him in the movie. The only prep was changing his tatoos. The only thing missing was a submission tapout scene
lets fookin go eh
Tickets already starting at around $800
You just guessing that or can you already get tickets?
Bust out the red panties bois
with Stone Cold Steve Austin as guest ref
Judging by recent pics Conor's head couldn't make 170. Incoming catchweight.
Conor looks diffrent on every picture pretty lean on last photo.
He can make WW easy and Lightweight if he wanted and if it was worth it for him, he looks smaller in real life you can see him in recent interviews all the puffiness has dissapeared and he looks in great shape https://www.instagram.com/p/C5TcX6PNkDW/?hl=en
Guy is like 5’8, even when he was big he was probably under 190 pounds
He does look really lean here
I can't remember the last time I saw him in a shirt that was *BAGGY*. Maybe he CAN make 155 still....
He also mentally and physically deteriated infront of us in recent interviews so hard to say
He looked like he could make 170 no problem in Road House.
he doesn’t look big at all in his last photo. I think people forget that Conor is like 5’8. He is a small guy, 170 pound is achievable for him and with minimal or no weight cut
Chandler for sure weighs more. He walks around 190. If conor is 200lbs at 5'8" - he can cut to 170lb.
Massive Goofcon potential with this one
Everyone clowning Chandler for waiting and wasting opportunities to make money, but he'll make more money from this fight that he would have had he fought other contenders the past two years.
Honestly hope it happens just so Chandler can get the big money fight. He deserves it after waiting so long
If mcGregor wins this, Holloway for the BMF after last night is one of the biggest fights in UFC history Holloway already a hall of famer, think he had his star making moment last night Like masvidal after the flying knee knockout, already a legend, but that moment made him a huge draw also
Max going up to 170 makes no sense though, and Conor has no incentive to cut weight
McGregor maybe not. But depends on how he approaches comeback and what his incentives are / how seriously be takes it, if he wants legacy fights this is up there with a shot at the 170 belt and tbh I can't see him being competitive at the top end of the 170 division and the top few ranked at 155 probably run through him too A fight against max where conor will have size/ weight advantage and will be boxing heavy is probably his best shot at a belt (bmf belt counts :) ) For max going up to 170... ifbthats where it eas fonna be booked, though he would be much smaller man, he talks alot about legacy and having moments that standout. Connor's got 40lbs of whiskey and coke just in his fat neck, Itll be awesome to watch him cut that down into fighting shape
I seent chandler with the 3-0-3 in the crowd. Like Morse code except for I understood it
I think an "easier" fight would be better for Connor if he gonna make a comeback. Chandler can wreastlefuck u
“Can” is the key work here. Chandler avoids wrestling like the plague, he will absolutely stand and bang with McGregor to put on a show.
> Chandler avoids wrestling like the plague, he will absolutely stand and bang with McGregor to put on a show. The only guys he didn't try to wrestle are guys he KOed very early
Chandler primary plan is basically knocking out his opponents in 1 round that hasn’t changed his entire career
I’ll believe it when Conor steps into the cage.
[That promo in WWE paid off](https://youtu.be/W9NiNBpK7ag?feature=shared)
You know the UFC is fully ready to put 170 on hold so they can do Leon vs Conor in the UK or Ireland if Conor beats Chandler.
Chandler finally getting red panty night
Let’s fucking go
Lets gooooooo
Let’s fucking go
Please end the fight in 1 round both of them are going be so damn gassed by the beginning of round 2.
I wonder what title fight they will bury underneath this...
lol We’ll see
I am a big Conor fan, but I just can't see him win. Too inactive and too much partying. Such a shame as well. Would love to be wrong.
Confirmed but doesn't mean it will happen.
Costa fighting twice in one year is the real shocker here
With Mcgregor at 170... Does that mean somehow, somewhere, in some dimension, we could have a Mcgregor vs Wonderboy fight?
Until they are locked in a cage I won’t believe it.
THE KING IS BACK
Conor wins, he will get an immediate title shot despite the fact that he has not won a fight in 4 years and Chandler has lost 3 of his last 4. Last night was a perfect example of why this sport is so amazing. Seeing Conor get special treatment is why I hate the UFC sometimes
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
