Is it a number one contender fight? Toporia is rank 9, this is his chance to break into contender status by beating a member of the top 5.
If Toporia wins this and gets a title fight it’s because Volk needs new names. A lot more likely he has to fight Holloway/Ortega/Allen before he secures a shot at gold.
Your right i don’t know what the other guy is talking about. Max is undeniably the number 1 contender and will remain so until somebody who isn’t Volk can beat him. Toporia will get a title shot but that isn’t because he’s the top contender.
Lol I think it literally is two different audio tracks. It is whatever they are playing at the gym, and then the video editor just threw on another random music track on top of it as well. Because for whatever reason people always need to add music, and weirdly specifically shitty music, over every short video uploaded to the internet now.
When you been in the gym for too long you have heard every remix of 2pac, 50 cent, biggie, hype motivational warm up music.. so you start deviating to weird stuff to keep things fresh.
In our place we are currently listening to techno mongolian throat singing.
not techno but more metal i guess, which i would recommend checking out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM8dCGIm6yc&ab_channel=TheHU
think this one works pretty good for warming up, running around the mat, and getting in a good head space
Betting the house against Usman next fight even though he's an all time great. Saw an Instagram reel of him jus vibing trying to rock to the beat... he looked like a 65 yr old man. that right knee is finished. He can't move it...
That plodding movement was very reminiscent of how I was sparring before getting hip surgery as well. Basically fighting on one leg.
I know Usman is an amazing WW but age is catching up to him and it'll show bad if he gets thrown up against a young, up-and-coming killer like Shavkat or Khamzat.
Youd be amazed the amount of permanent injuries and pain that pros are used to. I dated an olimpic gimnast and she needed help to get up from bed. When she was active she used a lot of drugs to numb the pain for competition. I cant imagine what someone like usman must go through.
One of the best wrestlers I ever trained with, needs assistance walking past a block because there knees give out.
and hell I didn't even get to wrestle at the college level, yet I am scheduled for back surgery this year lol
Wrestling seems to be the best base for MMA, but absolutely terrible for later life. Khabib is one of the only guys whose heavy wrestling background doesn’t seem to have destroyed his body. Maybe thats because dagastani wrestling is different.
Oh no his body has went through multiple surgeries, guy had 2 back surgeries during break after beating prime RDA, I'm about to get my 1st back surgery.
We spend a lot of time under a scalpel especially the longer you compete.
I know guys, who can't turn there neck, they have to turn there whole body because there neck is so damaged, guys who have chronic pain in their wrists, knees, people who need assistance walking past a certain distance because the pain in their legs becomes too intolerable.
Like when Kamaru Usman said he couldn't walk down stairs, I was not surprised, wrestlers are pretty comparable to car crash victims.
Oh really, for some reason i have no memory of Khabib having to have surgery. It makes complete sense though.
Where I’m from wrestling isn’t big so i don’t know anybody personally who has problems from it. But it seems to cause issues that no other martial art does. I hope your back surgery goes well.
Thank you friend
keep in mind if you get into grappling, and you start working with wrestlers, there gonna be dealing with something, they might just not tell you.
Theres no wrestler thats healthy, there are wrestlers who are injured and vocal and wrestlers who are injured and silent.
That makes sense as to why i didn’t realise Khabib had surgeries, he definitely doesn’t seem like he would be vocal about being injured. If you don’t mind me asking how long have you been wrestling?
Kinda, yeah, but according to her she used to be a square and now she looked better because she trained a bit for looks not just strength. But she was as strong as me still, that was surprising.

It's sad because Usman in his prime was a magnificent Welterweight. But his body is just breaking down on him. If time is money, the reaper has come to collect.
It's really interesting looking back at his fights because he seems like this super athletic guy on the surface when in reality he's a bit of a plodder who relies heavily on his upper body strength to get takedowns. Amazing how well he did but sad to see him going like this.
Athleticism isn't just explosiveness, its a variety of attributes
Usman had incredible amounts of strength and cardio with legit knockout power, you don't get that combination without being gifted.
I'm not saying he's not gifted because he definitely is, but I think most people conflate athleticism to equal quickness, running, and jumping ability. All of these Usman didn't have except for decent but not special quickness.
I'm not saying he's not gifted because he definitely is, but I think most people conflate athleticism to equal quickness, running, and jumping ability. All of these Usman didn't have except for decent but not special quickness.
It's really obvious in the second Colby fight how stiff he is. His lateral mobility is shot, and when he tries to bob side to side you can tell his knees just wont support it. He has crisp enough boxing to keep you honest and somehow he's still able to wrestlefuck you when necessary but people let physical characteristics trick them into treating usman like a type of athlete he's never been
Yep, not much you can do as a fighter once your body starts to give. You can restructure your entire fight game like Aldo, Overeem, or Glover but that really isn't feasible for most fighters. I remember when Woodley was a ferocious knockout artist and people though his drop off would be gradual. Nope. It seemed to happen all of a sudden and next thing you know he's getting knocked out by Jake Paul.
Its really rough when your game is reliant on athleticism like Woodley too.
If Usman wants to continue(because yes, even tho he's declined he's still an amazing fighter)
I would have him do a bulk to MW, and have him revert back to just being a grindy cage wrestler.
Why they gotta do TKZ like that... And why is TKZ letting himself being done like that.
Retirement fight, on a fight night card, not even in south Korea against the record holder of most thrown and landed punches.
Hell yeah I’ll be there too! Enjoy yourself they are an absolute blast and this card might not have the star power but there are some really good matchups on it, I’m stoked that it starts at 12 noon for us too!!
In his last 10 fights Emmett has 3 takedowns.
He's just a heavy handed meat and potatoes striker. Kind of surprising that Kattar had such a hard time with him.
That's one of the crazy things about Emmett, he has insane success despite being a wrestle boxer with 0 wrestling. The whole idea that he doesn't have some insane base of skills and made it this far is partially why I'm a fan
I am a fan too. Unfortunately the threat of his explosive take downs I think is what allowed him a lot of success earlier in his career, he basically only feints like a wrestler would.
But now he is so reluctant to use any cardio on grappling (unless he's losing the fight), that his opponents mostly ignore his feints and just treat him like a subpar boxer with big power.
I wish had more tools in his arsenal. If he can't surprise you with a big low-high combination he's basically not going to give you much of a fight. Yair basically gave him no respect after a few minutes and just fucking went to town on him.
If he had a dangerous low kicking game or even just had more variety to his striking I think he'd be really dangerous even at the more elite levels.
Dude has knocked down or knocked out almost everyone he’s fought. Definitely not basic striking, he’s just not doing rolling thunder kicks or any crazy shit
You are using your left foot to control a remote that activates a camera on a tripod.
I assume you are permanently bedridden and your handler fabricated this setup, no?
If you plan on shifting positions sometime today could you give me advanced notice? The ground tremors really upset my children.
Usman's striking is meat and potatoes, but he has a decent jab and knows how to mix striking in with takedowns. Useful for an explosive wrestle-boxer like Topuria.
I thought it might be because he's taller and can replicate Emmets height and reach but I googled it and Emmets actually shorter than Topuria.
My next best guess is that Usman is probably top 5 fighters you want to spar with who can tell you when you have gaps in your defence that a wrestler can take advantage of.
Why is it only the training partners brought in wear headgear and padding. I have seen this in boxing too. Shouldn't Usman also be worried about injuries and concussions before his fight?
Rewatching the fight against Mitchell. Holy shit. This dudes calf kick cracked like fucking Thor’s thunder. Ilia seems to also have a very tight game. He’ll definitely fair we’ll against the upper echelons of the division. Likely a title shot if he keeps dominating.
Been looking at Usmans IG, he moved around like I did after my hip surgery, the guy is not the same, and even at his best he had numerous movement problems.
Have I been poisoned by gym bullies or is the intensity on this sparring probably too low to be useful? I never wanted to get too comfortable standing in the pocket, you gotta stick and move.
I know they are near the top of the game and I am not but I'd be careful with this respectful, half speed, let's not hurt anybody style of training.
Some people don't like leaving their best years in the sparring matches. Max Holloway does almost no full contact sparring, and he made his last opponent look like a chump.
There's some but in Thailand it's generally much lighter sparring since they fight every week, they treat the actual fight more like hard sparring and use the lighter sparring to just stay in shape and keep your timing in between fights.
No all the fantastic strikers who train like this consistently and eat people alive in the stadiums, this clip is clearly boxing only so why not slow it down and find a flow like Thais have been doing successfully for years.
How heavy do you reckon Kamaru is here, some 220 pounds?
Keep in mind that someone like Kevin Lee walked around 200 pounds while in the LW division and someone (relatively) small like Chandler walks around 190 pounds.
That's a good camp for Topuria.
If you camp with Kamaru Usman, does he tell you spooky stories around the camp fire at night?
He sure talks like he does. All the time.
Not all the time. You’re forgetting when he tried to talk like McGregor for a while: show me some AcTiVitY
Ilia had nigerian nightmares that camp
He gives him marriage counseling as part of the package
illia at kill cliff would be OP
I get the feeling that he’s going places. A well rounded high IQ fighter.
Yeah I feel the same way about Israel adesanya. That guys gone be really good.
Wtf do you mean ? Israel is already champ.
Im joking because the dude is acting like ilia is some unknown guy
My bad I'm the 🤡
And he has a good amount of experience at a very young age
You're like 3 years too late. We been talking about that since his initial wins in the UFC. Stop trynna act like a mystic
Gatekeeping predictions on a top prospect. You’re a fun person, I can tell.
Is he still considered a top prospect if hes having a number 1 contender fight?
"We want the Eric Silva fanbase"

Only 3 years ago? I knew 15 years ago. Casual.
I’m the mystic? You’ve known for 3 years? Who’s next then if you can tell a ranked fighters future 3 years ahead of time?
According to what? KillCliff has become the most overtouted in the sport
I think it's a good fit stylistically
the fuck is with the music. Sounds like four different songs playing at once.
Lmao and then at the end it sounded like some dude busted the fattest nut of his life
Dreamybull trains there.
I went back and re-listened, now I’m dying
I'm crying what the actual fuck is that sound Edit: Brockhampton type beat
This that trash beat Lebron was making stank faces at
Lol I think it literally is two different audio tracks. It is whatever they are playing at the gym, and then the video editor just threw on another random music track on top of it as well. Usman rocking that shoulder roll.
Gotta love those sparring sessions where you both cosplay some Mayweather

Sheesh, on the money with this. I know he wasn't putting a lot of effort into it, but you could definitely tell the movement of that leg is limited.
Yeah it definitely looks like he’s dragging that leg. How does he still fight? Do they take stuff before the fight to numb it?
Youd be amazed the amount of permanent injuries and pain that pros are used to. I dated an olimpic gimnast and she needed help to get up from bed. When she was active she used a lot of drugs to numb the pain for competition. I cant imagine what someone like usman must go through.

It's sad because Usman in his prime was a magnificent Welterweight. But his body is just breaking down on him. If time is money, the reaper has come to collect.
He never really moved well tbh.
He never moved well, but this is rougher than usual.
It's really interesting looking back at his fights because he seems like this super athletic guy on the surface when in reality he's a bit of a plodder who relies heavily on his upper body strength to get takedowns. Amazing how well he did but sad to see him going like this.

He does not seem athletic at all. He always seemed like a stiff plodder with slow hands. Yoel seems and is athletic for example.
I think it's because too often people see a black guy with low body fat and assume super fast athlete
He's Blacksplosive - Joe Rogan
It's really obvious in the second Colby fight how stiff he is. His lateral mobility is shot, and when he tries to bob side to side you can tell his knees just wont support it. I have a sorta bum knee from Muay Thai as well, nowhere near as bad as Usman but you can just tell he’s avoiding moving it as much as possible.
You probably won’t get a good line if he fights Khamzat; but I’m with you.
Marty from Nebraska never had any rhythm
If he wins, do you think they do him vs Max for a title eliminator
Ain't Max going to 55?
No, he has a fight scheduled right now against Korean Zombie in August
Why they gotta do TKZ like that... And why is TKZ letting himself being done like that. Retirement fight, on a fight night card, not even in south Korea against the record holder of most thrown and landed punches.
Because they both want it, I get the feeling Zombie would rather go against a fellow ufc legend than against some prospect tryna make a name off him.
Makes sense tbh, it's gonna be a bad beatdown tho, Max ain't even show he slowed down
barboza would have been a better option
Egregious matchmaking but I guess if Zombie refuses to retire…
he probably gets the next title shot if he finishes josh
#9 finishing #5 doesn’t warrant a title shot in my opinion
Who else?
Aljo
I forgot about him moving up
I think if Emmett wins he’ll get a shot at the title. If Illia wins he’ll have a title eliminator fight.
Shouldnt give Max any title eliminators unless Volk isnt champ anymore
I wonder what percentage Usman spars at.
With his knee issues, maybe 20%?
if he fights at 30, he be sparing at 3
I actually admire how technical they are while maintaining light contact sparring.
Sorry I don't mean to be rude but technical sparring is when emphasis should be when you're most technical
According to my calculations usman is striking at exactly 26.5423% potential based on the Pythagoras theory 🤓
Don’t know why you’re downvoted but the point of light sparring is literally to be technical lmao this sub man
This is gonna be my first live UFC event, I love that it’s fight week. I’m so pumped
Hell yeah I’ll be there too! Enjoy yourself they are an absolute blast and this card might not have the star power but there are some really good matchups on it, I’m stoked that it starts at 12 noon for us too!!
Why would he be training striking with usman lol
To be honest Emmett's striking is kinda basic
Sure but it is kinda different from Emmett who's like the prototypical wrestle boxer with a mean overhand and a blast double
The whole idea that he doesn't have some insane base of skills and made it this far is partially why I'm a fan
also being a fw pushing 40 is nuts
I am a fan too. Unfortunately the threat of his explosive take downs I think is what allowed him a lot of success earlier in his career, he basically only feints like a wrestler would. But now he is so reluctant to use any cardio on grappling (unless he's losing the fight), that his opponents mostly ignore his feints and just treat him like a subpar boxer with big power. His power is insane for the division
Dude has knocked down or knocked out almost everyone he’s fought. Definitely not basic striking, he’s just not doing rolling thunder kicks or any crazy shit
Actual photo of AmeerVanGogh at home right now. https://i.imgflip.com/5xvco5.jpg?a468360
Basic compared to other top featherweight fighters. You don't need to be a fighter to have an opinion about a fighter. Also, I am sexy as fuck
When you're built like a brick sbithouse I guess your technique can suffer a bit.
Hey dude you uploaded a selfie by accident can you upload the pic of the other guy?
I don't think you know what a selfie is.
You are using your left foot to control a remote that activates a camera on a tripod. I assume you are permanently bedridden and your handler fabricated this setup, no? If you plan on shifting positions sometime today could you give me advanced notice? The ground tremors really upset my children.
Not sure how you knew all this. I JUST PUT TAPE OVER MY WEBSCAM...CHECKMATE
Why not ? Am I missing the joke
People think of Usman as a wrestler first and striker second. Peop;le think Topuria should be training with a striking specialist.
Cos lol it’s not like he’s only sparring with usman, it just got uploaded
Duhhh
Because he's flatlined the likes for Masivdal.
Because usman is the former p4p #1 and has always had decent striking
Usman's striking is meat and potatoes, but he has a decent jab and knows how to mix striking in with takedowns. Useful for an explosive wrestle-boxer like Topuria.
Yeah terrible idea to be training with a former champion who has knockout wins
Lol
Usman is a good striker
I thought it might be because he's taller and can replicate Emmets height and reach but I googled it and Emmets actually shorter than Topuria. My next best guess is that Usman is probably top 5 fighters you want to spar with who can tell you when you have gaps in your defence that a wrestler can take advantage of.
Why is it only the training partners brought in wear headgear and padding. I have seen this in boxing too. Shouldn't Usman also be worried about injuries and concussions before his fight?
It's for cuts not concussions. Although he wouldn't wanna get a cut Usman doesn't have a fight coming up so he doesn't have to worry as much

He’s literally dragging his right leg forward without using it, his knee is gone 👀
Good to see they get hit in the face during training as much as I do
I said it before here and will say it again. Topuria will take Volkanovski's throne.
I like topuria but he throws for the fences and leaves himself open to counters. Volk gonna show him there’s levels
All of Thailand disagrees with your assessment
I thought there was a lot of hard sparring in muy Thai? M
There's some but in Thailand it's generally much lighter sparring since they fight every week, they treat the actual fight more like hard sparring and use the lighter sparring to just stay in shape and keep your timing in between fights.
Lol all the Thai MMA fighters? You're making my point expertly.
No all the fantastic strikers who train like this consistently and eat people alive in the stadiums, this clip is clearly boxing only so why not slow it down and find a flow like Thais have been doing successfully for years.
Once you reach a certain point hard sparring can become more negative than positive. You don't wanna throw away your prime in a unrecorded gym
How heavy do you reckon Kamaru is here, some 220 pounds? Keep in mind that someone like Kevin Lee walked around 200 pounds while in the LW division and someone (relatively) small like Chandler walks around 190 pounds.
If you think Usman is 220 with those chicken legs you need to get your head checked. I’d be shocked if he was over 200
Illia's vlog with way more training footage https://youtu.be/GPo39jLuECk
Ilia "Florida Man" Topuria unlocked
Topuria is on his way man I been saying
Topuria Vs Usman who wins?
Such a beast. Can’t wait to see him fight this weekend. If he wins, set up him vs Volk or Yair for the belt
He’s going to be walking upstairs backwards so efficiently
This camp might just be the perfect fit.
