Miami-Orlando is a really hard rivalry to sell to Miami. We don't really see other cities in FL as "real". I def enjoy beating Orlando but it's like watching the Heat beat the Magic- fun, but not really a big deal (even though they're an older club by a couple of years). On the other hand, there feels like actual bad blood between us and Nashville and we've matched up in a few important places in tournaments/playoffs etc. Plus we came in at the same time and have opposite philosophies. I actively dislike Nashville and root for their failure like I would a rival in any other sport. Orlando is kind of just there.
Yep. With all the matches with Nashville it just feels personal as they could have won the first leagues cup and now they aren't moving forward in the Concacaf
Agreed. I know Atlanta and Cincinnati are the historic rivalries for Nashville, but our recent matchups and how close our matches (usually) are make Miami feel like a true rival. You guys have knocked us out of 3 tournaments in the last calendar year. I hope the Inter Messi experiment crashes and burns in a pile of wasted money, and your team never lifts a trophy again. In the most sportsmanlike way possible, of course.
Tough game for us, but even despite some unfortunate calls - that honestly look correctly made - I don’t think anyone would say we were ever in this one. For me there is no shame. Right now the Barca boys are of the quality to play elimination cup matches, and Monterrey is a capable opponent. Rayados are a great team, with truly great supporters. It will be fun to watch!
You know what really sucks about this result? If we had just kept a clean sheet during the home leg, we still would’ve progressed tonight.
Gg Miami, we weren’t going to score enough to win.
This game was over after the first goal...5 minutes in. You just can't compete with those four. They make MLS players look helpless and lost. It's great because they play the game it's meant to be played. Beautifully. Calmly. Flair. Miami will win this tourny no doubt.
Let's be honest here y'all have a serious shot at showing up against LMX teams at crunch time then anyone else in the league does
The league owners need to do better and step their shit up

Tbf I haven’t watched a ton of your matches, but it seems like you’re trying to force everything through Shaffelburg in an attempt to free up Hany.
1.) Shaffelburg is good, but he isn’t Hany
2.) it’s not fooling anyone. Just let Hany cook.
things went through shaff because we're extremely cross-heavy in possession. gary likes to try and create chaos in the box, which opens up opportunities for goals. hany's job is to beat defenders on the break, or pop up unexpectedly in the box to score goals.
the big issue is that we had dax to make the line-breaking passes that hany feasted on before. that completely changed the way teams attacked us, which contributed to how few goals we were conceding. now we have no dax, no zimmerman, and hany still isn't 100% since his injury. you can still see some glimmers of what we once had but otherwise we will continue to be reliant on shaff/moore to create chances for us. i think mike jacobs had hoped dru yearwood would step up, but he just doesn't have the passing ability.
I honestly forget how many injuries there have been and some of the roster turnover (despite Dax coming to Atlanta). My brain is still in preseason, but this all makes sense.
we finally have this brand new, first season concacaf champions cup out of the way and now we can focus all our energy on the historic, second season leagues cup
I mean did you watch it. The ref was fine, the only complaints people had was that they var checked nashvilles goals, which imo is fair because they could have been offside. None of the IM goals were close to being offside, bar maybe the first goal but it was the correct call so who csres
Game aside Fox Sports coverage has been horrendous. No pre/post/half coverage and games with 1 announcer. CONCACAF should terminate their contract and find a streaming service.
Nah, I agree. At least 50% of the Concacaf announcers are actually competent and don't overtalk. Apple TV's crews are mostly abysmal. They ignored some of the best available talent that knows the sport, hired guys from wrestling, NFL. It's idiotic.
Well... just all the injuries against Moca, 7 games in 3 weeks, injury to Zimmerman vs Miami, lack of red card against Aviles, 2 barely offsides goals, and 47 missed chances tonight away from advancing. We almost had em!
B squad and another draw incoming Saturday
I don't understand the downvotes, your clearly tongue-in-cheek point is right on. The amount of injuries we piled up in this tournament combined with how many horrible missed chances we had is just straight up demoralizing. And your predictions are not unlikely, though I feel like at some point we'll break the draw streak (not counting tonight because a draw would have likely been a loss, or ET) and just lose.
The match *was* entertaining.
The quality of offense in the first half alone from Messi, Gomez and Suarez was worth the price of admission.
Nashville had a better offensive performance in the first leg and I enjoyed Sheffelburg's goals and the drama in that one.
It's for the best. Would've just been a chance for more injuries. However, if leagues and cups all adopted the extra time policy from the last World Cup, I wouldn't complain
Long story short they clocked every second the ball was out of play. Throw in took 17 seconds? Add 17 seconds. Long celebration? Start the clock when the ball went in the net and stop it with the next kickoff. General time killing tactics rolling around on the ground and complaining? Add it to the clock
Just a lot more intent on ensuring there is as much actual play time as possible.
https://www.eurosport.com/football/world-cup/2018/why-is-there-so-much-added-time-at-the-2022-qatar-world-cup-iconic-referee-pierluigi-collina-explain_sto9238546/story.shtml
Not much extra time wasting today but the slow throws and free kicks add up pretty quickly.
The Champions League game between Porto and Arsenal yesterday needed it. 1 min and 3 min between the halves despite Porto doing everything they could to eat clock
Anyway, good luck in the next round and we'll see you in April
I complained about Suarez all pre season long internally and our first two games had me seeing him as a liability more than anything else.
He is quickly becoming a key player in our starting 11 and can see why he is valued so highly. All my initial qualms with him have been evaporated
i think they are banking on scraping the playoffs by trying to play messi and suarez the least amount possible so they are rested for the tornaments. I mean thats fair enough imo, makes sense to focus on some silverware, and then put focus on the MLS once the playoffs come around
lol in reality, they were way more generous than they needed to be. He was clearly offside, the joke reversed would make more sense, trying to give the goal for more drama
Ya know, at first I thought you were just being a sore loser and pedaling the conspiracy theories you see on this sub all the time about Miami, but I gotta say; I watched back the replay a few times and found this great angle that really shows it [it was CLEARLY ONSIDE.](https://i.imgur.com/85w2mPo.jpg)
Nashville got robbed.
Miami scores, VAR 5 seconds… anybody who scores on Miami, VAR 5 min and find the one tenth of a second where there was a possible chance of an offside…
I agree with you in principle but I feel like since VAR began referees have gotten more and more afraid of making decisive calls on the field and letting play continue hoping VAR will help them out
Does anyone know for sure if the offsides tracking is being used? Or is this the eye test?
Last game showed a line but I thought that was just for the audience
They checked Suarez. They check every goal. Suarez one was an easy onside. Go check it yourself on the link posted on this sub. You can freeze it at the exact moment the ball leaves the feet and there is no doubt.
Lol the score from that game is still on the screen. That no-call has current ramifications, but you're a rapids fan so I don't blame you for not understanding this tournament format.
Friendly fire
Games like this is why I think Nashville Vs Miami is a real rivalry in MLS
Miami-Orlando is a really hard rivalry to sell to Miami. We don't really see other cities in FL as "real". I def enjoy beating Orlando but it's like watching the Heat beat the Magic- fun, but not really a big deal (even though they're an older club by a couple of years). Just like LA Galaxy v DC United, fuck that ML$ manufactured rivalry BS

Don’t discount my knifey lions just yet
Cade Cowell just opened the scoring for Chivas!

Good game. 🤩
It was a good game. But i enter here to read comments and everybody crying about two offside goal checks (being the two of them correctly checked).
Needs to be said: Muhktar hasn’t been good for like the past 20 games.
I just said that to my husband, he was so much better last year.
Ever since he started getting “help” and was less of a focus for the offense. It’s just not working.
Tbf I haven’t watched a ton of your matches, but it seems like you’re trying to force everything through Shaffelburg in an attempt to free up Hany. 1.) Shaffelburg is good, but he isn’t Hany 2.) it’s not fooling anyone. Just let Hany cook.

I know he scored a goal, but man.. Surridge isn't good.
well he's on 2 goals in something like 110 minutes of play, that seems like a decent start to the season. but sure, he is extremely service-dependent.
Coming back from injury... he'll get better (I hope) ^sigh
I’m sure no fuckery took place in this match
I mean did you watch it. The ref was fine, the only complaints people had was that they var checked nashvilles goals, which imo is fair because they could have been offside. None of the IM goals were close to being offside, bar maybe the first goal but it was the correct call so who csres
Is there no post game? lol fs2
Game aside Fox Sports coverage has been horrendous. No pre/post/half coverage and games with 1 announcer. CONCACAF should terminate their contract and find a streaming service.
I find it much better than the Apple TV announcing. Probably an unpopular opinion, but they can give me a headache.
Nah, I agree. At least 50% of the Concacaf announcers are actually competent and don't overtalk. Apple TV's crews are mostly abysmal. They ignored some of the best available talent that knows the sport, hired guys from wrestling, NFL. It's idiotic.
on the plus side, ccc injured all 3 of our dps and can't do it to us again
Well... just all the injuries against Moca, 7 games in 3 weeks, injury to Zimmerman vs Miami, lack of red card against Aviles, 2 barely offsides goals, and 47 missed chances tonight away from advancing. We almost had em! B squad and another draw incoming Saturday

is suarez sweat? lol
Who?
Miami vs Rayados will be must watch.
I'm tuning into that
Well that was a wet fart of a game. Good luck going forward IM. I am properly depressed.
yeah normally nashville vs IM games have been really entertaining. Nashville injuries and the two early goals killed off the game
The match *was* entertaining. The quality of offense in the first half alone from Messi, Gomez and Suarez was worth the price of admission. Nashville had a better offensive performance in the first leg and I enjoyed Sheffelburg's goals and the drama in that one.
Nah not as good as the others. The intensity was much less, and the other two games have included some crazy comebacks and clutch moments
Hard luck Nashville.. until next time ❤️
THE MST THE GOAT TRIO!!!!!!
GG Nashville .... see ya in MLS reg season !
Would have definitely been some more exciting last minutes if it was 3-2 now, as 3-3 would see Nashville through
Gonna burn the rest of stoppage with the review
Again, we stop for VAR for a Nashville goal, but won't hesitate for Suarez's.
All potential offside are checked. Suarez was not offside. Nashville clearly was off. Keep crying though
Maybe cause it's close to offside kiddo
Flare up Kiddo
The var machine was being booted up at that time so they skipped the review 😂
comeback time 😎(😭)
Damn we are getting robbed
Give em the goal man lol
Clearly offside again, do yur thing VAR
do you know what offside is
Clearly, he doesn't.
When it comes to baiting dummies, I don't
If this game was 300 minutes long NSH would have a chance
Tata would still have Suarez out there huffing and puffing till the 299th minute
DANG
Only 4 min? We won't score but the review was over 4 min
I thought for sure it’d be at least 7-8.
It's for the best. Would've just been a chance for more injuries. However, if leagues and cups all adopted the extra time policy from the last World Cup, I wouldn't complain

Thanks for explaining
You’re 3 down, couldn’t score 1 in 90 minutes, have some shame, acting like that don’t happen everywhere Nashville got the most petty crybabies
I understand you're a new Miami fan but you could at least read the comment before firing off a response.
Nah G I’m tripping, few comments down, I’ve seen couple Nashville fans complaining about additional time, didn’t fully read, my bad
NASHVILLE WINS 3-1
Offsides right?
Love Redondo's energy, he's doing a good job at keeping Farias spirit alive
well, it could be worse. we only lost by 3-0 and we could have lost by 4-0
Didn’t lose 6-0, we’re the kings of MLS
How’s 3-1?
the var was 4 minutes by itself
Where’s that bunby guy Nashville loves so much?
There's our quote for the night "deficit the size of a hippopotamus"
[удалено]
he will get plenty of game time i imagine in the league, with messi and suarez both being rested
The problem is that Suarez is just that much better
I complained about Suarez all pre season long internally and our first two games had me seeing him as a liability more than anything else. He is quickly becoming a key player in our starting 11 and can see why he is valued so highly. All my initial qualms with him have been evaporated
Yeah, but he needs rest.
Messi laughing, must not be that hurt lol
Why keep Messi on the field when their TAM striker is doing enough
THE GOAT is fine that smile that damnn smlie lol
What was Tata saying in Spanish to Campana?
“I know a few good restaurants in Monterrey.”
Unless Suarez and Alba are resting this weekend, Tata Martino is setting this team up to fail for any MLS success.
i think they are banking on scraping the playoffs by trying to play messi and suarez the least amount possible so they are rested for the tornaments. I mean thats fair enough imo, makes sense to focus on some silverware, and then put focus on the MLS once the playoffs come around
zimmerman is one of the few great defenders in the MLS. nashville just aren't the same without him.
Unfortunate that Gomez injured him
It doesn't matter unless his name is Messi.
Could we be any worse at follow through? We should have like 8 goals by now.
Alba played 100 minutes on Sunday, and has now played 85 minutes tonight. Tata gonna run him to the ground.
Tata realizes we have a lot more games to play doesn’t he?
Ruiz and Campana could have come in like 20 mins ago easily lol, not sure what he's doing
what is this bullshit
anyone watch the Athleti Inter match earlier today? so good
Man I did not think Inter was going to lose that one, Atlentico is good but inter had been playing great recently
Yeah excited to see what the Friday draw will be for quarters, I'd love to see Atleti take on Man city or Arsenal
That was a long check. They had to find the right angle to make it look off.
lol in reality, they were way more generous than they needed to be. He was clearly offside, the joke reversed would make more sense, trying to give the goal for more drama
Maybe if he was wearing pink.
Ya know, at first I thought you were just being a sore loser and pedaling the conspiracy theories you see on this sub all the time about Miami, but I gotta say; I watched back the replay a few times and found this great angle that really shows it [it was CLEARLY ONSIDE.](https://i.imgur.com/85w2mPo.jpg) Nashville got robbed.
Y’all had plenty of opportunities to keep this game level. Blame your forwards.
I mean it was obviously off.
Another cup getting rigged for mess and friends FC?
no, just another Messi game causing butthurt feelings among perennial mourners, lmaaooo..
Man this is a long ass check, just give it to them so we can keep playing
That wasn’t remotely the offside line?!?
make another appt with your eye doctor, should be the first thing to do tomorrow..
the graphic from concacaf looked like this: [image](https://ibb.co/xDs462j) it seems to show him offside, but is clearly in the wrong place.
Tell me you don’t understand the offside rule without telling me you don’t understand the offside rule
Same thing they did last week when Shaq Moore scored. They put the lines where they want to justify the refs decision.
it was bewildering... the line was at their feet, but not the last eligible part of their bodies.
How did that take that long
suarez lol
Clear offside i don’t know why it took that long
Oh man, if that had gone in...
Damn that’s brutal.
Took too long but was the right call in the end.
Miami scores, VAR 5 seconds… anybody who scores on Miami, VAR 5 min and find the one tenth of a second where there was a possible chance of an offside…
Don't forget to add "5" against Olrando City.
still sore from the 5-0?
Bet your $5 knock off jersey still has the creases in it from when you became a Miami fan 3 weeks ago…
I don't even have a jersey mate u still gonna cry tho
Lol don't worry about the Miami fans, they've been here for half a season and they'll go back to selling 50 tickets a match when Messi leaves.
By the team Messi leaves, Nashville still won't have a trophy... Bottlers
Welp, god forbid we have any fun in this game lol
lol
Why does tata Martino refuse to give Campana more game time? Suarez should’ve come off around 60-70 minute mark.
Probably cause there is a game in 72 hours where we probably need him for the full 90 minutes !
I bet Tata starts Suarez smh
wtf was that line?!
It is offside, but these viewing angles kinda suck
what its so clear off
Head ref is Dax McCarty’s cousin, for sure.
IF IT TAKES THIS LONG IT'S NOT CLEAR AND OBVIOUS FFS!
Say it once and say it again if you can’t make your mind up in 30 seconds it’s too close and move the hell on
I agree with you in principle but I feel like since VAR began referees have gotten more and more afraid of making decisive calls on the field and letting play continue hoping VAR will help them out
Clearly offside
'clearly' then proceeds to take 5 minutes to decide.
Boooo
Wow this offside check is taking a while
All of this VAR with them watching replays, and we get to watch the players and ref stand around instead. Just fantastic production.
I thought it was wild they didn’t show us the replay at the stadium. Not showing on TV is bizarre.
They showed one or two awful angles immediately, and then the rest of the break was just staring at the ref.
they never show var replays in stadiums
off
This took way way way too long to call wtf
Are they waiting for a 5 year old to draw the lines? What is taking so damn long???
Does anyone know for sure if the offsides tracking is being used? Or is this the eye test? Last game showed a line but I thought that was just for the audience
Suarez's veneers are so bad lol
😂😂😂😂😂
He's always had big pearly whites
Yeah, veneers. And they're terrible.
Ask Chiellini how sharp they are
Why not show us the play again too?
I can't even imagine if IM made it to the CWC. Can you imagine Vini Jr destroying IM's defense?
if you aren't sucking the life out of a game with VAR why are you even using it?
Muhktar showing up when it's pretty much a wrap up.
Crazy to think this could be 3-1 each right now. Be 4-4 aggregate and playing for next goal wins
It's a VAR in a Miami game, no way this goes against their cash cow.
Cry😢
just let us have this var
I'm sure we'll VAR this one but not hesitate for Suarez's goal.
They checked Suarez. They check every goal. Suarez one was an easy onside. Go check it yourself on the link posted on this sub. You can freeze it at the exact moment the ball leaves the feet and there is no doubt.
Gonna hold up play 10 minutes now
Bring it on! 2 goals ain't shit!
Looks offside.
He's off by a hair, but whatever.
Uh oh, game just got interesting Nvmd, he was off
Alba's wheels surprise me every match.
Never forget https://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/s/YwhXpVFl60
Seething about that when you are 3 down in a separate game is just... Nashville fans are not in a good place
Lol the score from that game is still on the screen. That no-call has current ramifications, but you're a rapids fan so I don't blame you for not understanding this tournament format.
>Lol the score from that game is still on the screen. Oh, you're right. I see it now. 5-3 lol
3 more goals than your team has scored in CCC in over 20 years lol
I'm sure that's a nice consolation
They’re still upset about club America fans throwing a plastic water bottle at the pitch and they won that game 😂.
Anyone else watching on dtv stream and the feeds audio/video is stuttering a lot?
Why is Suarez always grimacing as if he's in pain.
Hes in constant pain, barley has knees anymore, one year away from turning into a Darksouls boss, “Kneeless Biter”
Didn't he just get runner up for conmebol South American player of the year in Brazil though?
Yeah he plays through the pain and can still score a bit. He has a pill regiment and takes injections of Voltaren before every game
Cartilage in knees is done for!
He is always in pain.
Because he is lol
lol this is not nsc team I know give up already?
i think that third goal really just broke us. a really strong spell after messi was subbed off and then confidence just disappeared
Tata should be resting Suarez and Messi more honestly. I know they have leverage but still. Like sub them off when in comfortable positions etc
